The great conservative radio talk show host Dennis Prager has repeatedly made the point that the North saved the Union in the Civil War, and it will be up to the South to save the Union in what awaits us. Meaning if America is to continue as a liberal democratic Constitutional country, the people of the northern states will decidedly not fight to protect or preserve this.
I recall a New York Times columnist insisting that the North won the Civil War, and therefore the southern States had no right to a voice in the running of the country. He meant, of course, that the southern States, that voted Democrat for more than century, should now be ignored because they’ve pivoted to voting Republican.
The placeholder mentality, sadly, afflicts so many conservative leaders. Stephen Harper, the Canadian Prime Minister, seemed satisfied to hold the Left at bay. He was a strong supporter of Israel, and his reward was to be listed as one of the greatest threats to world peace, while he held office.
An American leader prepared to speak up for American Constitutional values is desperately needed. A black or a woman would be more effective in this role. But the courage required would be enormous. May I respectfully suggest that the great Sarah Palin could simply not stand up to the onslaught of abuse?
As Obama lied and continues to lie about most everything, a black conservative leader prepared to play the media’s games may be required to save our Constitutional order. Sinking to the Left’s level of calling all critics racists would be worth the affront to truth, if the end justified the means.

Russia has sought to take advantage of Ukrainian shortages in manpower and weapons while the war-torn country waits for the arrival of more U.S. assistance, which was delayed for months in Congress. Ukrainian forces have been pushed backward in places, while Russia has pounded its power grid and civilian areas.
In the month since President Joe Biden signed the $95 billion foreign aid package, which included about $61 billion for Ukraine, the U.S. has announced and started to send almost $1.7 billion in weapons pulled from Pentagon stockpiles.

President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree allowing Russia to confiscate assets of U.S. companies and individuals to compensate for any Russian assets confiscated in the United States.
The decree was published on the Russian government’s legal portal on Thursday as top finance officials from the Group of Seven industrialized nations began a meeting at which the question of what to do with Russian assets frozen in the West is at the top of the agenda.
Ukraine and many of its supporters have called for the confiscation of $260 billion in Russian assets frozen outside the country after Russia’s Feb. 24, 2022, invasion. But European officials have resisted, citing legal and financial stability concerns.
However, U.S. President Joe Biden in April signed into law the Rebuilding Economic Prosperity and Opportunity for Ukrainians Act, which allows the administration to seize the roughly $5 billion in Russian state assets located in the U.S. The law was included in a U.S. aid package for Ukraine and other nations which includes roughly $61 billion for Ukraine’s defense.
But it’s not likely the U.S. will seize the assets without agreement from other members of the Group of Seven nations and the European Union.
The decree signed by Putin says that Russian companies and the central bank and individuals could apply to Russian courts to declare the seizure of property in the U.S. as unjustified. If the court agrees, a government commission would offer assets in compensation that could include property owned by U.S. citizens or companies in Russia, securities and shares in Russian companies.

Almost every word that comes out of Jeffrey Sachs’ mouth is wrong, but it seems irrelevant what the Brits thought about Russia in 1840. Sachs volunteers full-time to the UN. That said, the British leadership currently have a deranged view of Russia.
