The Siccas guys do a splendid job curating their musician choices. Virtually everyone I’ve posted have easily demonstrated genuine virtuosity. Some, however, are special. These players are truly gifted. For those of us who enjoy playing classical guitar, experiencing someone with a higher level of “chops” is always exciting. Jan is one of those especially splendid players. You can sense this virtually from his first piece. The Siccas guys obviously love their jobs. Jan was posted on their site a few hours ago. He has some serious chops.

Oh so many Amens, sister Betsy. I have never met you, but I just love you and Chris, and our friends on this Tree, so much. I pray for you all constantly.
Easter was always special to my mother. She would always make a rack or leg of lamb. We eat lamb rather frequently in this house, but one thing of hers that I have never ever made is Yorkshire Pudding. She made hers with onions.
I found a recipe and I’m going to give it a go, along with some Cabbage Rolls for dinner today. I have a big head of cabbage (which is totally “bad” for me – but I enjoy cabbage.) I have some of that leftover farm-to-table ground sausage cooked patties from breakfast that I’ll chop up fine instead of hamburger and go light on the meat, chop some onions, add the jasmine rice leftover from Savannah’s birthday dinner, and maybe add a little bit of corn. (I know – not traditional, but I can’t leave recipes alone without messing with them.) Will wrap the pretty little things up in pretty cabbage leaves and slow roast in condensed tomato soup.
Then, Yorkshire Pudding with finely chopped onions in my cast iron skillet in the oven. 450 degrees, so we know it will set off the uber-sensitive smoke alarms. But, oh well.
I’ll dedicate the Yorkshire Pudding to my mom and to you, Betsy. Wish you could come for dinner. You could even bring Maggie over. I have an ornery cat she can snack on for brunch.
Yes, I’ll FEED Maggie your granddog – the cat! He’s getting so dang mean in his old age!
We have been using that Feliway since Danny died and I’m choking on spending $200 a year on pheromone plug-ins for the cats (!) that I chose not to replace this last one to see how it goes. With his kitty Alzheimer’s, I may have to keep spending that just for our precious giant Harry Houdini’s sake. He simply will not fight his older brother. He’s a lover, not a fighter and gets his tail kicked because Timmy just plays too rough! The Feliway seems to keep the peace between the two.

Just made a key lime pie and deviled eggs to take to a friend’s house. We’re all old farts, but have an egg hunt with prizes and play silly games. Last year someone found a rattler on the egg hunt! Not good for the old tickers!

This is our Treehouse Sunday benediction. Betsy and I were talking awhile back about the special feeling we get when we post on The Open Thread. That feeling comes from this wonderful virtual community that has formed over the years. Some come, stay for awhile, and then drift away. Others like Bet and me seem to have taken root . . . All are welcome.
Speaking for myself, I’ve found that this is a great place to post the music videos that I so enjoy finding. As I’ve said, as long as this is fun I intend to keep posting. But something else has happened. I could obviously be posting on several other sites but, our Treehouse Open Thread, just seems special.
As Bet and I talked about this, we simultaneously realized that we were discussing the obvious expressions of faith in Our Lord that so often characterized even casual discussions on the Open Thread.
I don’t recall which of us described our Open Thread as the “Treehouse Church” but it just seems so appropriate. It also seems appropriate to use the “Parting Glass” as our Sunday benediction. . . . Be blessed, Treeper friends. And have a wonderful Easter Sunday with the knowledge that Our Dear Lord loves and cares for us here!

Happy Easter, nim!! We have a couple of visiting crows. We feed their feathered cousins of all shapes and sizes. Golly they are big birds! Don’t know how they found us…word gets out I suspect that we are the place which provides.

We’ve got a “murder” of 4 or 5 crows that frequent our backyard bird buffet.
I put out larger seed just for them. Peanut halves, pistachio pieces, walnut pieces, and sunflower seed kernels. I cut into small pieces of leftover meat and trimmed fat and leave for them. They know where to get their bread buttered.
After all…we share a space they’ve inhabited long before us. Every ecosystem needs a thorough cleanup crew. Our crows take care of that dirty business.
Last fall they left a precious gift. One of their little ones. My thought – knowing food, water, and shelter was here they let us babysit for almost two weeks. Sometimes perched in a nearby tree. Other times
feeding on fallen seed along with the juncos and doves. A fun to watch, “are you my mother?”, type of gathering.

This is not news. It’s music that touched me and I wanted to share. I don’t know if you’re familiar with Matisyahu, he is a known Ragge and Rap Jewish American musician. At some point he was very religious and was dressed in black like the Orthodox , he has songs with 100 million views and 50 millions, etc… on YouTube.
His son is in Israel studying in a Yeshive (religious school).
After 10/7 he had canceled some concerts in the US because of threats and some where false security threats that were really antisemitism of the preps crew that was fueled by the conflict. He was kind of depressed or worried about the future of Israel and the Jewish people. So he came and visited in Israel. He is well respected in Israel. He went to the Beeri Kibutz (village) of the massacre and to the site of the Nova music festival. He met survivors of both sites including a lady who got shot 12 times at the Kibutz. She was in a wheel chair. He said that after the trip he became encouraged and had his faith in God and humanity back. He saw the survivors unite he spoke with soldiers too.
A couple of weeks ago he released a new song that was filmed in the Kibutz (village) that was attacked badly and he is singing inside the burnt houses where families were burned alive and he is singing at the Nova site and you see the posters with the faces and the faces of the captured and footage of the running people. The song also has footage from the holocaust. The song is about antisemitism. There is also footage of the founders pioneers of Israel. The words at the end are a known Jewish prayer to God.
I am posting this song and another one of his songs from more than a decade ago which had over 100 million views. He is a great guy.

This is not about humans because humans are easily led and ruled. This is about evil. evil in leadership drunk on power that uses people as collateral damage to strike fear and increase their strongholds.
I pray today and virtually every moment I breathe… for RELEASE from the clutches of darkness, for identification of the evildoers, for swift stamping out of darkness permanently. I see nothing enticing in the ways of evil and my anger has never been so great at the injustices and senseless death of bodies and souls. I feel such pity and anger towards the minds who are lost, confused, filled with hatred and maligning God’s chosen.

I got so MAD yesterday at the malign towards law enforcement and military… those special breed of heroes tasked with serving and protecting. I wanted to quit the Tree last night and seriously wanted to lash out.
Until evil is completely destroyed, we will always have evil weilding its treachery against others and I weep as I write this grieving for the innocent and wanting justice and peace throughout.
God hears our cries and catches every tear. He Is our ONLY HOPE.

One of my favorite songs.
Savannah, for a brief time, played the violin as a very young girl of about 10 years of age. She sadly quit because she couldn’t collect her mind and keep up with her orchestra classmates. Worst thing I ever did to let her abandon it.
You see, she could play by ear. She first put violin in her hand to test the instrument in October and two months later… in December… I was cooking in the kitchen and she started playing Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”. I have it recorded amongst all the cloud data files that I fear will all just disappear someday.
She had no sheet music. Just her in her gymnastics leotard that she loved, sitting upright in the edge of our couch, in our blessed and warm living room of the home we lost, by the fireplace… playing the most gorgeous rendition of “Hallelujah” I’ve ever heard on a 3/4 violin.
We, of course, are friends with Jon E Gee (bass player to Mellencamp) and he has a music school, but distance and inability to practice where we live now makes lessons unattainable. We gave away her 4/4 violin to a less fortunate kid we knew. Sadly, I regret it. The place we love won’t allow practice on the premises due to noise restrictions. Sad to restrict joyful noises. What do our kids have these days in the ways of freedom?
I pray she picks it up again someday and chooses to play… at her own God-given pace. Maybe need to go on Facebook to try to secure another instrument for her. Sadly, COVID stole the life of one of my customers who was so gifted as to build violins in his garage. Mark Russell was renown throughout the world for his craftsmanship and support of the arts. God rest his dear soul.
So much beauty stolen. But it will never be tamped out. It will rise again.

Rah, I replied to your inquiry on yesterday’s OT. It’s a two parter since I woke thinking about it and recalled more.
I sometimes need to ruminate on things to give my best recollections or thoughtful responses.

Still taking care of Steve’s livestock but Steve and Betty are doing some of it now except walking Cooper. Next week, as soon as the Doc clears Steve to lift any weight, we’ll put two leashes on Cooper and Steve will walk him with me as a back up to test if Steve can do it.
He really has done very well recovering from a full knee replacement but Steve is more active and does a lot of things that most men his age gave up long ago. So I advised him to not get too rambunctious because the people giving him medical advise are basing it on what an average man his age does when they give him a full release.

HEEDFULNESS v. HYPROCRISY IN OURSELVES
“If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and He shall give him life for them that sin not unto death.” 1 John v. 16
If we are not heedful of the way the Spirit of God works in us, we will become spiritual hypocrites. We see where other folks are failing, and we turn our discernment into the gibe of criticism instead of into intercession on their behalf. The revelation is made to us not through the acuteness of our minds, but by the direct penetration of the Spirit of God, and if we are not heedful of the source of the revelation, we will become criticizing centers and forget that God says – “…he shall ask, and He shall give him life for them that sin not unto death.” Take care lest you play the hypocrite by spending all your time trying to get others right before you worship God yourself.
One of the subtlest burdens God ever puts on us as saints is this burden of discernment concerning other souls. He reveals things in order that we may take the burden of these souls before Him and form the mind of Christ about them, and as we intercede on His line, God says He will give us “life for them that sin not unto death.” It is not that we bring God into touch with our minds, but that we rouse ourselves until God is able to convey His mind to us about the one for whom we intercede.
Is Jesus Christ seeing of the travail of His soul in us? He cannot unless we are so identified with Himself that we are roused up to get His view about the people for whom we pray. May we learn to intercede so whole-heartedly that Jesus Christ will be abundantly satisfied with us as intercessors.

Yesterday I took a class with folks of my age (old as dirt!) We got into a discussion about our childhoods. To a person, we lamented the loss of the essence of America and its culture- yes, We have one, too. When we finished our chatter, and got back to work, you could have heard a pin drop, except for the whir in heads that were ruminating on the ramifications of what has happened in our beloved country.
But, when we were leaving, one of the students who I consider a friend, said to me, “I just can’t vote for either of the candidates.” She is Jewish, one of her children lived in Israel, she and her husband (both retired physicians) hate the direction of the medical industrial complex……but, can’t see the clear choice of a candidate that meets their mentality. So dispiriting.

I’m going to play this song for too many times… it’s Easter. I can’t sleep. Our Christ Has conquered death. HE IS COMING AGAIN. I will not stand down or shut up about who I am IN HIM.
I am Big Mad and I’m going to yell at some folks in the AMA thread. I am biting my tongue. Seriously. (This is not directed at you, Nimrodman. You did not piss me off.)
If people are going to take potshots – then they should be ready to be called into account about their bonafides.
What matters of their history helped them develop their authority in degrading an honor institution? What of their past possibly maligns their faith in that honor oath taken by so many who have died for us and our country? Was he guilty of those crimes? A felon? How long did he serve in prison and for what, exactly? Is he repentant or does he feel entitled to whatever was done?
Somebody posted the other day and it hit me hard. Those that dishonor our flag have never been handed a folded one. Our beautiful country is made of the people and institutions that make our country great and proud. The “cancer” within it – are a select few – probably fewer than it seems – who are mucking everything up. I pray them cursed to hell forever, for I have no hope for their souls anymore They are overtaken by evil and need to be removed.
But.. out of respect… and out of sheer exhaustion and a desire not to act impulsively and give the devil a win – I am shutting up.

MAKE it a great day today. We have MUCH to be grateful for. Thank an officer. Thank a firefighter. Thank our military – especially the busted up veterans at the American Legion who have been dealt dirty by the politicians for a government they swore to protect.

The kit-cats are fed and today on deck for Easter dinner is Cabbage Rolls. I’ve started the chores and I’ll make myself something warm to drink and prop up on the couch to meditate, pray, and then hopefully nap for a short bit before daughter wakes.

It took me over forty years of my life to come to the Lord, but life is so much better with him in it. He gave me the mind-calming philosophy of: The Lord gives us 168 hours in a week. You can give a few of them back to honor and praise him. May His name be praised.

This is for bjorkdream – hope it’s okay to post this here? You recently posted a lovely photo for me – it’s a huge ray of light shining through trees. You had gone out of your way to post it. Well, I’ve had a bit of trouble from the most recent procedure, so I wanted you to know when I try to sleep, I put that image in my mind and try to focus on it. I imagine the light shining through the trees is what I call Christ’s Healing Grace. The image doesn’t always diminish the pain, but it does get me into a place of gratitude. Since today is Easter, seemed appropriate to thank you on this particular day. Thank you for your kindness.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
