The hate-spewing American Airlines passenger seen in a viral video being put in a headlock and marched off a flight also drunkenly ranted about “blue-eyed white devils” — and threatened to “take this plane down with all you motherf–kers on it,” according to court documents.

The passenger, identified as 29-year-old Florida man Shail Patel, had already been accused of hurling an antisemitic slur at a flight attendant during the wild scuffle on American Airlines Flight 2506 from his hometown of Tampa to Philadelphia on Tuesday.

He had bloodshot eyes and reeked of alcohol — and yelled at other passengers, “F–k you blue-eyed white devils I’m gonna take this plane down with all you motherf–kers on it,” according to a criminal affidavit obtained by The Post Friday.

Nicolas Fouquet
(1615-1680)

French politician and Superintendent of Finances (1653-61) who became fabulously wealthy and later imprisoned for maladministration of state funds, dies in jail in Pinerolo at 65

Biography: Fouquet was Superintendent of Finances under King Louis XIV of France from 1653–1661. He came from a noble family and came into responsibility young, holding several positions as early as his teens.

From there his career ascended via purchased positions and careful networking, particularly in remaining loyal to Cardinal Mazarin during his exile; it was Mazarin that, upon his return to court, acquiesced to Fouquet’s demands, making him Superintendent of Finances.

During his time as in charge of the state’s finances, Fouquet made the most of his own credit and later, that of the state. Ultimately his management led to a disorder in which his accounts and those of the state were muddled, with Fouquet using this confusion to his favour; his wealth growing to surpass even Mazarin, who had arranged his position.

Eventually Fouquet fell out of favour with Louis XIV, in particular after incidentally demonstrating his wealth by holding an event to entertain the king which few in all French history could rival.

At this the young king, for Louis was only 22 years old, acted cautiously until Fouquet was in his trap. The court case lasted three years, during which Louis was aggressive in his desire to have Fouquet imprisoned, despite public opposition to this cause.

Ultimately Louis received his wish, with Fouquet imprisoned in the prison fortress of Pignerol; it is said that the Man in the Iron Mask (according to some, Eustache Dauger) was one of Fouquet’s valets during his prison stay—which ended only with his death in 1680.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

AM I CARNALLY MINDED?
 
“Whereas there is among you jealousy and strife, are ye not carnal?” 1 Cor. iii. 3
 
No natural man knows anything about carnality. The flesh lusting against the Spirit that came in at regeneration, and the Spirit lusting against the flesh, produces carnality. “Walk in the Spirit,” says Paul, “and ye shall not fulfil the lusts of the flesh”; and carnality will disappear.
 
Are you contentious, easily troubled about trifles? “Oh, but no one who is a Christian ever is!” Paul says they are, he connects these things with carnality. Is there a truth in the Bible that instantly awakens petulance in you? That is a proof that you are yet carnal. If sanctification is being worked out, there is no trace of that spirit left.
 
If the Spirit of God detects anything in you that is wrong, He does not ask you to put it right; He asks you to accept the light, and He will put it right. A child of the light confesses instantly and stands bared before God; a child of the darkness says – “Oh, I can explain that away.” When once the light breaks and the conviction of wrong comes, be a child of the light, and confess, and God will deal with what is wrong; if you vindicate yourself, you prove yourself to be a child of the darkness.
 
What is the proof that carnality has gone? Never deceive yourself; when carnality is gone it is the most real thing imaginable. God will see that you have any number of opportunities to prove to yourself the marvel of His grace. The practical test is the only proof. “Why,” you say, “if this had happened before, there would have been the spirit of resentment!” You will never cease to be the most amazed person on earth at what God has done for you on the inside.

Well, The floor is down. Getting close on adapting the entertainment center to fit into that nook between the fireplace and west wall. Over half of the crown molding in the living room is up.

Jay got all the two transitions from the new living room floor to the bedrooms with carpet done. And the transition from the laminate floor in the hall to the living room hall done. The transition from the sun room to the living room will have to be custom made since the floor of the sun room is an inch higher than the floor in the living room. We have 12″ to make that transition since that passage is set up for pocket doors if I decide I want them installed at a later date.

I rubbed out the the first coat of clear satin sealer on the door to the small bed room using steel wool. The used a little plastic brush and tack cloth to get rid of the steel wool residue. Detailed work because the steel wool shavings get into the corners of the panels. It is now ready for the final coat of satin clear coat sealer.

The door to our bedroom required a darker stain finish on the outside to match the trim in the living room and a golden oak finish on the inside facing the bedroom which has golden oak trim. It is now stained properly and will get it’s first coat of satin clear finish today. Both doors and their frames will be ready to be installed by Monday.

We have the metal insulated door to replace the ratty back door but will wait for the first good day to install it.

Living Our Best Lives – Article 2

The poet and musician, John Cougar Mellencamp, says it best: 

“No, I cannot forget from where it is that I come from. I cannot forget the people who love me. Yeah, I can be myself here in this small town, and people let me be just what I want to be.”

We have a little family-owned donut shop, called Titus Bakery and Deli, in Lebanon, Indiana. It is legendary here for having heart-shaped donuts bigger than your head for Valentine’s Day and the best frosted sugar cookies ever. The sugar cookies have a perfect balance of salty sweetness where the cookie isn’t so over-the-top sweet that it hurts your teeth. It is gentle, like a butter shortbread, thick, and hinted with almond extract to balance out the vanilla, where when you open the bag, the smell wafts into the car and you can’t help but smile in anticipation of that first buttery bite, followed by the next… and if you’re especially nice to your child who you’re sharing the cookie with… you just might get the last bite.  This is a farm town, so those cookies come in John Deere tractors, barns, trucks, flowers, and the usual holiday shapes. Today, was a St. Patrick’s Day clover in vibrant green.

My teenager ordered her neon green, St. Patrick’s Day yeast donut and her shamrock cookie and I ordered their Cinnamon Sugar Fried Danish with whole white milk for both of us. 

We stood in line that led out the door of the establishment and talked with out-of-towners. The teenagers were vying for that neon green yeast donut and expressed a sigh when my daughter who was in line before them ordered it. I saw them and I said “Don’t worry. If you order another one, they’ll make it for you in the back”, because that’s what Titus does. No one leaves Titus disappointed. 

We chatted with the folks from Lafayette, Indiana in line and our conversation was heard by the tall, young, thirty-something father with his 5-year-old son in tow. We were discussing the Boar’s Head sandwiches that Titus makes, on their homemade bread, specifically the Moovelous R&B, which is roast beef, cheddar, and their horseradish mayonnaise with a healthy dose of salad on top including banana peppers. Priced about the same as a boring old Subway or Jimmy John’s, it was a delicious town secret. Dad was going to come back for that one for lunch tomorrow.

On the way home to do our Saturday chores, my daughter received a text from her high school friends. A couple of the girls were meeting at Memorial Park to race remote controlled cars. Daughter got a couple hour reprieve on chores, packed up her own car and we headed to the park.

It was cold and a bit windy, but the teenagers were delighted with the fresh air. The girls’ father collects remote controlled cars from the Goodwill Store, matches them up with a controller, and they had over thirty cars there at the park that day!

The dogs being walked wanted to sniff and chase them. An 8-week-old Husky puppy was fascinated and took a turn or two trying to catch the cars as the girls sped them away and the littles dropped by. Small children with their very young babysitters who had come to picnic at the park. The kids were maybe three or four years old and the older teenagers gave them each the car of their choice, handed them their own controller, and the young ones raced with the big girls. Our teens are so gentle with the youth of our town. No one is ever refused to play with them and all are welcome. They are such warm kids. I love them so much and am so proud of them and their hospitality.

We always carry a basketball in our car to shoot hoops. It’s a necessity in a basketball town. When you’re raised in Indiana, basketball enters your bloodstream. So, the girls took a break after a few hours with the cars and the littles to shoot some hoops.

With our new friends overseeing the girls and the kids, I took off to the Dairy Queen a block away and purchased the girls’ lunch and returned in time for their mother to meet me there and we all sat together over a lunch of chili cheese dogs, pretzels and cheese, nachos and sweet tea. The DQ, which looked like it was manned by 12-year olds’ grill was not working – so we made do with what they had.

We said our goodbyes and promised we would do it again real soon. Next weekend?

We are the heart of America. We are the farmers and the bread baskets of America. We believe in nourishing families with farm to table food and believe in the growth and nourishment of the American family.  God is our compass, and He blesses the seeds we sow. God produces the yield and by His Mercy, we will endure and prosper. This is OUR COUNTRY.  Long may Old Glory wave.

I encourage you all to go out and find these moments and collect them for your mental library. You see someone sitting alone, sit with them. Why not? What’s the worst that can happen? Pick up their meal. Laugh a little. Share a little. Create a family. Build a community. 

Lend voices to this, Americana, and share these experiences with others. Turn off the television, the mainstream media, and drown out the dystopian noise of those who seek to destroy us. They never will.

God morning, Treepers,

It was a morose day reading the headlines yesterday and it will carry over into today. We will await the impending, and no doubt appropriate, response from Russia for the senseless killing of their civilians at an entertainment venue accredited to ISIS, who we “supposedly” extinguished. Well, we suppressed them until they became useful again, right?

My prayer today is a simple one… the PURGING and EXTINCTION of evil in every shape and form.

I can’t help but mourn for the people of all walks of life, who simply want to just work hard, grow, and cherish their families, their heritage, and their communities.

I didn’t post my missive “Living Our Best Lives” to appear tone deaf. I posted it to express the purity and good will that makes America – American. To keep our eye on the prize. What are we fighting for? This. Americana. She’s been good to us, with her righteous Constitution, and the Founders’ Dream of a country of freedom and good purpose.

I will not let that dream go.

Praying hard for our world. For President Trump as he is mercilessly victimized and attacked. I pray a total destruction to the wickedness that pursues him… and us. Trump is being used as an example to subdue and suppress us.

I pray that when each of our times come, that we can muster the courage to stand. There is no life, no safety… without freedom.
