Betsy, Betsy, Betsy! Everyone knows that labs Never grow up! Hah. Our chocolate lab, Clarence Thomas, had no idea what the contraption was for: when we took him somewhere a leash was a requirement, he proudly pranced around with it clenched in his teeth. Loved that boy.
Ha! No they don’t, sis. Our youngest 3+1 had begged for a dog for so long. So finally when they had reader an age where all four could share in the responsibilities, their mom and dad got A black lab puppy, which they put outside far away from the house near a large outbuilding, then asked the kiddos if they knew whose “lost” puppy he was.
Such excitement!!
After they had all gone out to see if he had any tags 😎, and he had made such a fuss of them all, their parents told them he was theirs. I have a video of that beautiful moment 💕 A couple of years have now passed, and I have been regaled with photos of each one at different times with either their heads on him as he sleeps and they read, or with their arms around his neck.

So poor Mags slept who knows where last night. She was on our hed for the requisite 5 minutes or so she ever spends there, then off to uncomfortable parts unknown. We fetched it this morning, and now she is making up for the sleep she lost last night.
Love the idea of extra beds, Corny 😍 Caroline bought a new one for Mags but she wouldn’t go near it. Prefers her ratty old one. The smell is juuuuuust right 👍🏻

Nor do I. I have two times at my house. One clock shows daylight savings times. Its usually just my computer. The rest shows animal times which mean my pets stay on their usual time while the rest of the world does not.

That Beagle looks a lot like Cooper. Cooper is a “lemon drop” beagle. And he is a lug to walk. When he gets on a scent he’ll darn near pull your arm out of the socket trying to follow it. He sniffs out cat, deer, racoon, and who knows what ever other kind of poop and tries to eat it. The only poop he won’t go after is dog poop. Neither Betty or Sherry can walk him. And now Steve can’t so I’m the one doing it twice a day.
Coopers home is in Steve’s “barn”. The place he stays and sleeps is heated and air conditioned. He will not poop in it and uses a litter box to pee. Twice a day when I go to walk him and scrape the pee spots out of the litter and put in new litter and feed and water Cooper. During good weather he spends a lot of time on a lead attached to a post for the porch of the “barn” so he gets plenty of outside time.
Then there is Fred. Fred is a small Tom cat. He lives in another part of the Barn away from Cooper. I clean is litter box and feed and water him and give him some attention twice a day. He is a very lovey cat and craves human attention.
The there are Buffy and Cali. The two outside cats. I feed them and water them but their litter box is the whole world. They only stay in the garage when it gets really cold. They roam far and wide, but both will usually be around at morning and evening feeding times. Buffy is a very friendly Tom. Cali is a Buffy’s mother and is much more stand offish. Only rarely does she accept pets from me.

My dearest friend, Kristine, prior to her untimely death of neuroendocrine cancer – had two homes. One next door to me (we shared a driveway) and one in Valparaiso, IN. Daughter and I would always know when Kristine came home to Indy, as she would arrive really late in the evening, wrestle her little black Cocker Spaniel Soldier out of her fancy Cadillac, and Soldier would go off to do his business.
Kristine was Greek Orthodox and short in stature, dressed unabashedly in furs, heavy jewelry, and she lived OOOOMPAAAA and could be loud and ostentatious (but entirely in the best way imaginable). She made an entrance!
We would hear her rustle around outside on the driveway from our bedrooms and she would yell “Sold-ieeeeeeer, Sold-ieeeeerr, SOLDIER! DON’T EAT YOUR POOP!”
Daughter and I would talk to each other through our shared wall and we would giggle and whisper “Kris is home”.
God, we loved that woman and her goofy dog. Made us belly laugh too many times to count – my eyes are tearing up now in laughter.
Scooping litter boxes comes immediately after feeding, or, my 4 legged scoopers descend to “help out.”
🙏 Bless those who nurture our citizens with four legs.

My heart broke for him, Feisty. He said his heart was broken into a million pieces. Been there…tears…
I simply can’t bring myself to adopt anymore. I have enough life in me to keep up with Harry Houdini who is 4 years old – and he must be my last. When he goes, I will be CRUSHED. Too many times I have had to be “the adult” and after losing Daniel, our Russian Blue, in December – me having to have him put down and him defending me, growling at the technicians (took two of them), and him backing into me to defend me…
I simply CAN NOT DO IT AGAIN. I just don’t have it in me. My heart has been crushed these last four years.
Not sure what happened to Catturd’s faithful pup, but I feel terribly for him. Our furry friends are often the only light we see for too many days, especially in a world of darkness and grief.
What a tremendous REUNION it will be in Heaven – for my Heaven is not complete or Perfect without our furry family.
We are there before you, dear friend. Much as our lives have been missing a cat or dog over the past few years. The cost is a huge consideration for us. Primarily in the extortionate vet bills almost on a par with human ones. But the heartbreak which always comes? Just following Catturd’s reinforces our decision to drink those mental cocktails we have stored up of our many, many family members we loved and lost. It is enough 💔

Yes, friend, the costs emotionally and financially are indescribable. It certainly affects us in many ways. Our retirement is far from what I imagined! Yesterday, we were at my husband’s neurosurgeon and learned he needs surgery – a long story for another day. It is not scheduled for more than a month from now, but after absorbing all the implications to him and us, I began planning on how to handle animal needs as the hospital is an hour and a half away and we must be there at 5am. I think I have it figured out, but it is just an illustration of the extra considerations that accompany having pets. You already know, I wouldn’t trade a moment with my fur kids for anything in this world, but…….things to consider.

I am grieved to hear this news. Of course all my prayers are headed heavenwards for a successful and complete resolution from this surgery, and for compassionate, able care so that he will return home in short order.
I’m already imagining that your mind, while maybe not frantically thinking the logistics through, is mapping all the possibilities for your animals’ care. Any chance your farrier would know of anyone who could help out? A solution will present itself, just when there seems to be none. Please know I will be praying mightily for one. And you must keep us up, if you can or want, on developments. Were any of us close I know we’d be over like a shot 💕🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
In the past few years, my husband has had a heart attack, two rotator cuff tears, anemia, and now this spinal problem. Just to complicate things, he has rheumatoid arthritis. For those of you my age, I think I could win Queen for a Day on that stuff! Ha ha!
We are both very active around this place, have to be. He’s frustrated that he’s just not been able to do nearly what he is accustomed to doing. And, I have had to let many things go. So, we are hopeful this will be a Godsend.
I am going to reach out to my very able, darling, animal loving, 28 y/o granddaughter and see if she could possibly come stay a few days.
I will definitely keep you abreast of things, and would welcome 🙏 from you wonderful souls ❤️

so sorry, lady, that you are mourning your puppy. it truly is a heaviness in the chest, as you say. like you, mine are “given” or “found” or “appear.” I am old in the tooth and want to outlive them, but, sometimes God has other plans–like my newest little cat, Wendy. His plans are the best plans, always with a blessing attached.
Hi Linwik – so thoughtful of you. In this case I was referring to Catturd’s precious pup. We, unfortunately have over 40 pets buried on our property. I stop by to visit with them fairly often, but when one leaves us, I am inconsolable – and probably won’t surface here for a while. I am old in the tooth also! When my dad passed, he was consoled by the fact we would be taking his pup and kitty. I felt they were another connection with him. Bosco, the dog was here for 2 more years, and Kitty Cat (names were not my dad’s strong point!) stayed for 9!
Is there such a thing as a heart which is too soft? No…I don’t believe so. I feel it connects us to our Father Who loves us when we can feel another’s pain and grief for any loss.

That is such a worry. I have made arrangements for my burros with my wonderful farrier. My children are animal lovers, but one has 9 of her own and feeds 100 cats every night from 4 colonies she cares for! The other feels as many of you, that he can’t take more heartbreak after his Fritzee dog is gone. They both know I will haunt them if they don’t handle things with care – and they will, I am sure!
There is a no-kill shelter in the retirement community about 20 miles from here. They actually set-up a room with furniture or bedding from their deceased owner’s home to acclimate their incoming pets. Amazing 👏!

Good morning all!
Yesterday Jay got all the luan down. I had bought more self leveling floor compound and it turned out to set much faster than the stuff Jay had been using and so he could proceed with the floor. He he also cut the short wall at the end of the fireplace stone work back to accept the oak entertainment center we have.
While he was doing that Sherry stained the door and frame for the east (smaller) bedroom. That door gets all the darker stain to match the trim in the living room on all surfaces.
While she was doing that I light sanded the other door and frame pieces. That door is for our bedroom which has golden oak trim. It will get it stained today. One face and the hinge edge of that door will get the same stain as the other door. But the opposite face and the latch edge will get the lighter golden oak stain.
So this morning Sherry will apply the first coat of clear satin sealant to the door for the east bedroom while I mask and apply the different stains to the appropriate surfaces on the door for our bedroom.
Then in the afternoon I will light sand the clear coat that Sherry applied if it is dry enough. The door I stain today will dry overnight before it gets it’s first coat of clear coat.
As of Tuesday it has been three weeks since my neighbor Steve had his knee replacement surgery. I was out in the barn today moving around using his cane to exercise his new knee. Based on what I saw, I think I will need to continue to walk Cooper and take care of the cats for another three weeks before Steve is ready to do it.
The inactivity is driving Steve crazy though he gets up and moves around and does he rehab as he is supposed to and they tell him he is doing great! He is such an active man for his age that this forced period of relative inactivity is getting too him bad. he says food doesn’t even taste as good as it did before his surgery. I tried to buck up his spirit.

But it’s coming! The grass is growing. Won’t be long before I have to pull out the mowers and service them and change the blades to get the mowing. Lots of sticks to pickup and pile in the burn ring too. Though I have been keeping an eye out, I’ll still be giving the area around the house the once over to try and make sure there are not nails or other stuff that will puncture a tire. A rear tire for my zero turn costs $100.00 now.
Morning rah! Elizabeth and I spend the extra bucks a couple of years ago to send our zero turn tires to a company in Houston that filled them up with some type of rubber and we haven’t had to worry about tir replacements. Before that… Busy Lizzie loves to mow but she was killing them tires really good. 🤣
Yea, I know the stuff and could do it myself but it makes your tires heavier and thus increases the load on the engine and effects your mileage.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Respectfully, I understand the need for ads. The very first thing I want to see on the Treehouse site is the Lord’s prayer. Yet my page view is blocked by some cheap Google ad right smack in the middle of the page and cannot be clicked away until whatever time limit the ad is set forth. It IS very frustrating and interferes with what should be a good start to the day.
Please remove the ad that blocks the center of the viewing page. I do not and should not have to utilize an ad blocker, but I do love the truth content of the Treehouse site. Thanks!

I don’t know what options there are other than Nunes Wine type adds, embedded in the page. But the system is designed to sell you off so you can be targeted. And once the website accepts that system, you will be targeted.
Creeps should just be happy that so many of us just don’t care, allowing themselves to be sold for profit for the privilege of reading their website.
But that aside. I used to be that way too. I bought into Bill Gates’ lies about how this was all being done to benefit me. For my good. (for the record, he omitted how he was selling our privacy)
But then I was targeted on this site. It has been several years now. The advertisement was sheer harassment. Designed to repeatedly yank the screen back to the top, no matter what. Not finished reading? Who cares! Yank. Trying to write a reply? Who cares! Yank.
That is not targeted to benefit me. That is targeted to force me to change. To drive me away from truth. To harm me.
Ad Blockers work. Finding a good one can be hit or miss. But Brave does a great job. The adblocking is built in to the browser. Now I only use Brave to view this site. Whatever device I use, I view this site through Brave. I do use other browsers and install ad blockers in them, but not for this site.
These ads were designed to prevent using this website. And they only showed up on this website. And they always showed up on this website. That makes the tree house a victim too.
But I no longer have to deal with them.
It is sad to see that said abuses of the readers of this website continue.
But, the site is not harassing you. The ads are. It does no good to yell at the site.
You can protect yourself. Not just on this site, but on all web sites. Until you do, why complain to the other victim? The one whose website the ads are trying to force you to leave?

As the spiritual battle wages on, knowing that your soul is saved through Christ for eternity, the enemy’s goal is to keep you from being a faithful and effective representative of the Gospel. Colossians 3:2 states, “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” The choices you make determine whether you conform to the world or be transformed into Christ’s likeness.
Pray for America’s legislators to adhere to godly values as they draw up new laws that direct the nation, and that they would choose righteousness.
