What’s happened to God’s people? At least my generation had people (and musicians) seeking God and God’s Word. And we Jesus Freaks were searching for TRUTH … the inborn TRUTH of God. What have we become now? Convinced that WE are God? That AI will infuse everyone’s brain with the Power of a demi-god? Talk about your basic misinformation … leading to acts of mass destruction … starting with our own formerly Free nation. Sad.
I cannot find the passage now, but in the Old Testament somewhere, the Lord is making clear, in a humorous way, the folly of manmade idols. He says that from the same block of wood, a man uses some of it for fuel, then fashions an idol from the rest of it and bows down before it.
It reminded me of AI. Today, the idol being fashioned is full of silicon chips made from sand. Some of the sand, he uses in his house and his garden, and some of it is used to make an idol. Do these AI proponents for one moment think about their utter inability to create silicon?
They make a robot and look to it as their god which they themselves have fashioned. There is nothing new under the sun!

One of my saddest revelations was when I figured out that they NEVER wanted the ideals they used to con us.
Don’t get me wrong, everybody should want the ideals. But they used them to get power. And once they got power, they threw the ideals away and started abusing people too.
The only thing they wanted was to switch who is the abuser and who is the abused. That is why it was all a con.

My wife’s student found a tiny little car on the freeway. She was huddled next to her dead mate who had been hit by a car. Although fully grown, she only weighed about 6 pounds. He brought the kitty to us because he couldn’t keep her in his dorm. We named her “Pinta”. She was with us for almost 20 years.
Sometimes a tiny spark of caring and affection can glow for a lifetime.

Picking up trash in my rural hamlet, roadsides remain historic; open drainage, pipes facilitate rain water under driveways. Those ditches are GORGEOUS. Full of God’s ‘turf’, clover/sorrel & etc. Something blooming most of the year, especially spring.
Ditches are already blooming. Anyone intuit what is coming, in this sad little missive?
Precious little song birds are attracted to those ditches for food/water.
Cars, hit those precious little birds coming in at a low angle to the ditches for their God given manna. Speed limit is 35mph, most go faster.
Seeing those myriad dead little birds, across many years, I get the rare privilege of seeing God’s handywork (poyeema) in creating them.
Too honor these little ones, they are gently scooted onto some of the flowers, and left for scavengers.
Some days it’s a cat, armadillo, squirrel etc….
It never gets easier, this privilege.

You mention sorrel. I don’t know if I’m remembering the same thing, but I grew up in the Missouri Ozarks. When walking up the fence line to Sunday School brother and I would look for something we called sorrel, another name for it was lamb’s ______, to chew as we walked along. Lamb’s shar? Looking back about 75 years into that memory hole!
Lamb’s quarters? Which is also called pigweed or white goosefoot (because its leaves look vaguely like the foot of a goose), is a member of the amaranth family, has several-inch-long spikes of tiny flowers and seeds and has edible leaves, seeds, shoots, and flowers.
Wood sorrel looks like clover but it has small yellow flowers, it also has edible leaves but they have an acidic taste because of the oxalic acid in it, and if you eat too much of the leaves it’s bad for you. I’ve read it has an edible tuber but I’ve never tried it.
Both are found everywhere in the US where there’s enough moisture.

I have his 1996 ‘Baja Sessions’ album; had it for many years – one of the first digital albums I bought.
The one MTV played all the time was a beach scene with a gorgeous topless model who had a disturbing way of not quite looking at the camera. It totally fit the song.
Of course they used him, her arms, the beach, everything to hide her top. But that video went a long way to make his song popular.

Biography: George Westinghouse was an American entrepreneur and engineer who invented the railway air brake and was a pioneer in the electrical industry. Westinghouse was one of Thomas Edison’s main rivals in the early implementation of the electrical system.

I know the area, as I was born in Cheshire, but that is all new to me. It’s marvelous isn’t it? 🙂 Time marches on, I enjoyed their discovering all the stuff in there, as much as if I had been with them.
When they said it was morning, and they were hungry, I kept wishing they would go and get breakfast, they were making me hungry too, and then continue shopping afterwards, but they were so enjoying looking at all that was on offer.
I think they forgot for a while about eating, though there were places to eat. I think they said there were 4 restaurants in there.
I think they they were so engrossed in the stock. When at last they sat down to eat and I saw their large English breakfast, I laughed, it was perfect for the place. I liked those yellow raincoats. I guess they were modelled on the authentic gear the Cornish fishermen wear at sea. I will definitely watch it again and look for the houndstooth I didn’t notice this time, and her hair is quite startlingly red 🙂 It was nice to see Goerg so delighted to find different brands of bottled German Beer in there.

Our Lord replies in effect, that abandonment is for Himself, and not for what the disciples themselves will get from it. Beware of an abandonment which has the commercial spirit in it – “I am going to give myself to God because I want to be delivered from sin, because I want to be made holy.” All that is the result of being right with God, but that spirit is not of the essential nature of Christianity. Abandonment is not FOR anything at all. We have got so commercialized that we only go to God for something from Him, and not for Himself. It is like saying, “No, Lord, I don’t want Thee, I want myself; but I want myself clean and filled with the Holy Ghost; I want to be put in Thy showroom and be able to say – ‘This is what God has done for me.'” If we only give up something to God because we want more back, there is nothing of the Holy Spirit in our abandonment; it is miserable commercial self-interest. That we gain heaven, that we are delivered from sin, that we are made useful to God – these things never enter as considerations into real abandonment, which is a personal sovereign preference for Jesus Christ Himself.
When we come up against the barriers of natural relationship, where is Jesus Christ? Most of us desert Him – “Yes, Lord, I did hear Thy call; but my mother is in the road, my wife, my self-interest, and I can go no further. “Then,” Jesus says, “you cannot be My disciple.”
The test of abandonment is always over the neck of natural devotion. Go over it, and God’s own abandonment will embrace all those you had to hurt in abandoning. Beware of stopping short of abandonment to God. Most of us know abandonment in vision only.

Good morning all
Yesterday morning Greg the plumber finished up. He replaced the magnesium anode in the hot water heater with a aluminum one. I now have all new plumbing running through out. All supply piping is Pex. All drain piping is new also except the main cast iron drain which runs to the septic tank.
After Greg left Norris Well drilling came out and cleaned our well and rerouted the incoming water to a new fiberglass 25 gallon pressure tank mounted in the garage.
The well really needed cleaning.
Now the well water is clear and has no odor.
Somehow I have hurt my right arm. Think I’ve strained a tendon. It hurts just to rotate my lower arm and even walking Cooper, who is a lug that likes to tug, I am using my left arm. So, it is going to be awhile before I can be moving furniture.
Take it easy.
You only come this way once.

Sounds like a pinched nerve in your arm. I had that once and got a shot of Cortisone and it worked great. I couldn’t even raise my arm before the shot.
With a cortisone shot, it has to hit the exact spot where the pain is, or it doesn’t work.

Solomon ruled over the “golden age” of the Israeli kingdom but, after his death, his son rebelled against his early advice, and the kingdom became divided just as God warned Solomon it would (1 Kings 11:9-13, 30-34).
Heed the warning and humble yourself before the Lord! Arrogance due to education and achievements, or other self-congratulation over accomplishments ignores that God established His plans for you.
Whatever worth you have is His gift to you (James 1:17). Jesus said the greatest are those who serve and, “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted” (Matthew 23:11-15).
Allow the Holy Spirit to affirm your dignity as he teaches you to be humble.
Pray for greater humility among America’s public “servants.”

I’m not that educated to know what this particular one is; just that the grower was/is an artist. Not all Japanese Maples have these small, delicate leaves.

Wow! What a beauty! Absolute perfection. The full arched canopy, layering, and balanced asymmetry … not to mention the heft and shape of that trunk!
And not one leaf is accidental, nor natural. I once took a graduate level course in Landscape architecture, and was scolded that too much of landscape design was “man over nature” such as hedges sheared into rigid geometric forms. But in reality … this gorgeous example of bonsai (and all bonsai) is also “man over nature”. A man (or woman) has meticulously tamed nature, shrunk it into a manageable scale, and bent it to their will. But it is beautiful. It is high art.
I have no personal problem with “man over nature”. Why? Because the alternative is a grim reality … sorry, but nature is a bitch! Don’t get me wrong … I LOVE nature and we need to preserve as much as possible. Many of the pictures posted here make me want to take a peaceful walk in those vistas … but … man has created flood controls, and SHOULD have managed the forests of CA lest they all burn to a crisp! we build hydroelectric dams, etc. These are things we NEED to do, lest we be swallowed up by nature. God granted us “dominion” over nature to do just these kind of things … but we must also preserve and respect nature as good stewards.
This bonsai instructs how man can TAME nature … but do it WITH nature. To respect the forms of nature. To replicate the ideals that God has shown us in nature.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Not dumb at all, Duchess! It is difficult to escape the inertia that can come from feeling powerless, but you have some great suggestions. I generally go outside and try to make a dent in the weeds, or play fetch with the pups which is always good for a laugh. I also do some metalworking – nothing beats hammering on metal for relaxation!
