I have put all of my faith into that one single verse. That God will someday wipe away all of my sorrow, all of my pain. all of the rest is dross, if God can do that, what a wonderful God we have. And He made similar promises many times. And in my own life, while He has not wiped away all of my tears, He has certainly held my hand in times that I needed someone. He’s not some inactive distant God. I don’t know why some people think that. He is the most loving, in your face God you could wish for. He’s been there for me. and I long for the day I can finally be with Him.

Army Rangers (I think) scaled that cliff via ropes in the Normandy invasion. I think it was Rangers, maybe some of our history buffs know the units and the real lowdown, I’ve only seen it in the movies
The job of the Rangers was to take out the cannons at the top. When they got there, they found out the guns were no longer there. The guns were later found a few miles away.
I have stood and prayed on pointe du hoc. My dad was d-day veteran (landed june 7, but ‘officially’ still classified as d-day vet, although he (like many others) humbly gave tribute to the ‘boys’ who landed before him).

Oh wow! So much better. My dad was in the CBI theater as a B-29 mechanic. Spent most of his time in India when those planes were flying “over the hump,” and on Tinian Island, from which the Enola Gay and Bock’s Car flew on their historic and war ending missions.
We’re so lucky to have had these mem as our dads! ❤️
“Truly the Greatest Generation.” I wish I could give that statement a thousand thumbs up. My dad was in the Pacific aboard the ship that suffered the last casualties of the war from a Kamikaze attack. Thankfully he was not hurt.

I learned that the American cemeteries throughout Europe are tended by the citizenry. Families adopt the grave of a soldier to tend in gratitude and thanks for their being freed from the Nazis. That is the reason the French cab driver took you directly to Bayeux.
My mother’s first husband was in the 501st PIR/101st Airborne. He was part of the first night parachute/glider landing into Normandy the night before the D-Day invasion began. He was killed in action later outside Bastogne when a German tank round landed in his foxhole.

Yes, I tell the stories I know to my grandkids every Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day. I and my daughter are Veterans and tell our own stories too.

Your husband may very well have taken care of my husband at Balboa. He was an Army combat medic wounded in Vietnam. He got sent to San Diego because I was there. Small world huh?

I was a kid mid- 50s into the 60s and WWII was still a big part of our national identity, many TV shows and movies as WWII vets took over Hollywood as writers and actors. In 1966 Vietnam hadn’t quite taken over our identity, nor had the protest movement — not quite yet, at least, and the “Summer of Love” was still a year away
Lived in a trailer park for a time with dozens of kids whose dads were all World War II vets. Among the many non-pc activities we participated in, there was war! We all had hats, helmets, canteens, etc that had belonged to our fathers. What a blast (so to speak), unless you drew the short straw and wound up being the German or Japanese soldier! Great times!
Boy, does that bring back memories! We played war, cops & robbers, and even cowboys and Indians. What a great time to be a kid!
My mom actually fixed us up with war paint! Can you imagine what would happen to her now!
In the UK we would play all those parts. and also’ Robin Hood’ was a big favorite to play with our homemade bows and arrows firing very inaccurately and weakly so no one got hurt. It was the effort that counted 🙂
The bad guy was the sheriff of Nottingham and his supporters ie soldiers on the wrong side. We played in the woods to be the Sherwood forest , and in the street for when the setting was the Nottingham Castle where the bad guys were. ( Persecuting the good guys, the poor downtrodden peasants and the outlaws).
As relying on stories and legend, the ‘real names’ of some of Robin’s band of outlaws were known, some of the kids played a named role like ‘Little John, who was big, and will Scarlet who dressed in red and was a musician, etc No one wanted to be the very fat, dim but well-meaning Friar Tuck .
There was a lot of running about firing wonky arrows and missing, and hiding and imaginary sword fights with sticks. Capturing each other till we were too tired to go on :-)) I feel sorry for the kids nowadays.
Search for picture of his statue at Nottingham Castle. There was an old movie with Errol Flynn in it about the legend.
I just looked for the movie and found only a newer version. There was one, loos as if it would be rubbish, as the depiction of life in those ancient days was destroyed with idiotic political correctness. Like most UK based shows now. Unwatchable garbage.

Yep. Back in ‘57 and ‘58 on Saturday mornings we’d watch the RKO WW2 war movies on the TV at a friends house. His mother would serve us milk and cookies. There were about 6 of us, all under 10 yrs old. Great times! Of course we had no clue about what some of our fathers had experienced….. the war on TV movies back then was very clean – no blood and guts. Maryland still had a State Board of Censors who had to approve a movie before it got into theaters or on one of the three local television stations.

Huge News Out of Minnesota: Exploratory Drill Has Discovered What Is Likely the Biggest Find in North America to Date
“A new find of underground helium in Minnesota could turn out to be one of the largest in the world, Minneapolis’s WCCO-TV reported Thursday.
The drill site, just outside Babbitt in the northeastern part of the state, took about a month from initially breaking ground to get to a depth of 2,200 feet.
What it found there, Pulsar Helium CEO Thomas Abraham-James called “a dream.”
He said that the concentration of helium sampled was 12.4 percent — about 30 times what the outlet referred to as “the industry standard,” and higher even than the company had forecast.”

Robert Hooke

English scientist (Micrographia), dies at 67
Biography: Hooke was a scientific polymath. He was simultaneously the curator of experiments of the Royal Society and a member of its council.
He was also Gresham Professor of Geometry and a Surveyor to the City of London after the Great Fire. He performed over 50% of all the surveys after the fire. Hooke was also an architect and worked with Christopher Wren to build St Paul’s Cathedral.
Hooke was a pioneer of microscopy, and known by many school children for his law of elasticity.

American comedian and actor (The Abbott and Costello Show; Who’s On First?), dies of a heart attack at 52
Biography: Lou Costello started his career in burlesque and vaudeville theatre where he met his comedic partner Bud Abbott. Costello was the funny man for Abbott’s straight performance. Their most famous routine is “Who’s On First?” involving confusion over nicknames of baseball players. The two worked theatre circuits, and eventually earned roles on the radio show “The Kate Smith Hour” in 1938 which provided them national exposure.
The duo’s first role in film was “A Night in the Tropics” (1940) and was so well received that they were given starring roles thereafter, making 36 films over the next 15 years. During their heyday they were one of Hollywood’s most successful and well-paid acts. They also had the radio show “The Abbott and Costello” which ran from 1942-1949, and a television program with the same name from 1953-1955.
After a sometimes fractious working relationship, Costello parted ways with Abbot in 1957. He died of a heart attack in 1959, three days before his 53rd birthday.

Polish American physician who invented the oral polio vaccine, dies of heart failure at 86
Biography: Albert Sabin was a Polish-American medical research, known for developing the oral polio vaccine. This development has since led to the disease being nearly eradicated worldwide.
Sabin’s work built on that of Jonas Salk, who developed the first inactivated poliovirus vaccine. Sabin then developed an oral vaccine which was found to be safe and effective.
The oral poliovirus vaccine went into mass-testing between 1955 and 1961, and then began to be industrially produced. He licensed a total of three separate vaccines, corresponding to the three major poliovirus strains.
Sabin notably refused to patent his vaccine, which allowed it to be produced at a low price and used all around the world. The Sabin Vaccine Institute, founded in 1993, has since continued his work.

3/3/2024 – Jesus is our model for knowing how to teach the things of the kingdom of God
Matthew 7:28-29 “And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at His doctrine: for He taught them as [one] having authority, and not as the scribes.”
Matthew 13:10-15 “And the disciples came, and said to Him, Why do You speak to them in parables? He answered and said to them, Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that he has. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which says, By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive: for this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”
When the high priest questioned Jesus concerning His disciples and His doctrine, the Lord answered him, “I spoke openly to the world, and in secret have I said nothing. Why do you ask me? Ask those who heard Me, what I said unto them: behold, they know what I said to them.” Whether the Lord spoke in parables, on a level that the teaching could be understood, if someone had a heart for knowing; or He was expounding all things to His disciples privately; Jesus’ teaching and preaching the things of the kingdom of God were consistently the same things to all: He only directed His method of teaching according to their capability to hear.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5-7, Jesus was expressly teaching His disciples, expounding more deeply the things He was announcing everywhere; that the kingdom of heaven is at hand; what that meant in practical terms, with respect to Messiah coming in the flesh, and what would then be wrought in them of God. Then He said to His disciples, “As the Father has sent Me, even so do I send you.” And, “I have given you an example, that you should also do the same.”
To Jesus’ decidedly called followers, it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God; because our hearts are right with Him, and we are considered His friends. To those who are without; even while they may be coming regularly to hear Jesus’ teaching, and hoping to see some miracles; but they haven’t yet come to the place of receiving His word in a good and honest heart, that would lead to repentance and conversion; the Lord can only speak to them in parables. He has to stay at the very fundamental levels of the moral lessons, given through familiar things. Having the understanding opened to understand Scriptures, is conditional upon being right with God, according as He sees and knows us.
The Lord always used this method, even with those who were determined not to ever believe in Him, or subordinate themselves to His authority as Lord and Christ. Jesus often used parables with the scribes and Pharisees to reprove, rebuke, exhort, and instruct in righteousness; by examples from real life stories, like the rich man and Lazarus, and many others; as well as parables of simple and familiar things, through which to make a moral point. In this we are taught, that we are to speak the word faithfully, in season and out of season, and beside all waters, and into all kinds of hearts, irrespective of persons.
The disciples seemed a little confused, why after He had taught them one way when He was teaching them privately; but seemed to be rather vague and indirect with the crowds. They were struck with astonishment when they heard Him teaching, “as having authority, and not as the scribes.” But now He’s using the simplest illustrations, and saying nothing really straight out to them, as He had done with the disciples privately. Yet He was consistent, and bearing witness to the truth in every case; so that whosoever was indeed of the truth, they would hear His voice.
Finally, I think that what is most clear in all cases, was that Jesus employed no methodologies, other than staying focused on doing the will of the Father, and keeping nothing back that would help everyone to come to repentance, and the new birth. As He said to Nicodemus; He Himself was the perfect example for all of us to follow: “The wind blows where it can find a way; and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell from where it comes, or where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” And as He told the apostles, that the Holy Spirit would convict of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and as He hears, He will judge;” so are we then given the Holy Spirit into our hearts, and the mind of Christ for understanding and discerning all things; for otherwise, how would anyone be competent for the work that Jesus has left for us to do till He returns?

This is love in the making. The love of God is un-made, it is God’s nature. When we receive the Holy Spirit He unites us with God so that His love is manifested in us. When the soul is united to God by the indwelling Holy Spirit, that is not the end; the end is that we may be one with the Father as Jesus was. What kind of oneness had Jesus Christ with the Father? Such a oneness that the Father sent Him down here to be spent for us, and He says – “As the Father hath sent Me, even so send I you.”
Peter realizes now with the revelation of the Lord’s hurting question that he does love Him; then comes the point – “Spend it out.” Don’t testify how much you love Me, don’t profess about the marvelous revelation you have had, but – “Feed My sheep.” And Jesus has some extraordinarily funny sheep, some bedraggled, dirty sheep, some awkward, butting sheep, some sheep that have gone astray! It is impossible to weary God’s love, and it is impossible to weary that love in me if it springs from the one centre. The love of God pays no attention to the distinctions made by natural individuality. If I love my Lord I have no business to be guided by natural temperament; I have to feed His sheep. There is no relief and no release from this commission. Beware of counterfeiting the love of God by working along the line of natural human sympathy, because that will end in blaspheming the love of God.

NGOs attached to various religions are doing that very thing. They are profiting off of the “newcomers” and placement of children who knows where?
Again, I am not speaking out against any person’s faith. I am extremely concerned about the collective church hierarchies and their role in selling out this country.
Lorrie, I think all these “church” related NGO’s began in the 1970’s and 80’s when the churches started to have more and more members leave the church. This was the only way they could keep solvent – partner with the federal government to have a way to keep funds rolling in. They should have looked in the mirror and found a way to grow membership by keeping to the word of God….but, no they made another choice. AND, all this was a result of allowing the federal government to take God publicly out of every corner of our lives.
We in southern AZ are inundated with NGO’s. There is quite a story brewing in Tucson. There is an airport hotel there that is closed to all but illegal aliens who are staged there for their “free flight” to a destination of their choosing. No ID or vetting required. Run by various NGO’s. Reporters are banned from the property, I believe including James O’Keefe, on threat of arrest for trespassing!!! The hotel is filled with trespassers! Where is the country where I was born and raised? 😔
Back in the day we listened to lots of fire & brimstone sermons. But I can’t remember the last time I heard one. Sermons these days are just bible lessons. I guess the preachers are afraid of offending anybody when there’s a lot of folks out there who could use a good offending sermon, me included.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

I just posted an interesting comment on the Presidential Thread at the 7:00 PM mark. Regarding Erik Prince, who is the owner of Blackwater (the Navy Seal mercenary contractors). I was floored to learn who his kin are. You might be interested too.
It’s very important that we vet our candidates to learn their motivators of who and what they invest their time and money in. Things like this might inspire each of us to deep dive further when we see these people ascending into positions of public service.
I hope information like this that is unearthed inspires us all to get more active in our local politics – for we truly do not know who we are/were voting for.
I wonder if liberals are as forthcoming as to their associations on their talk shows? Though, I admit to listening to very few liberally-slanted programs to learn more about them. Guess I need to start doing it to take one for the team and see who their cronies are. The closest I get to liberal is Joe Rogan, but I’ve never heard a liberal start laying out there associations.

My brother gets the Boston Globe, just for the Sports section. I read the political news, editorials, comments etc. The Globe is to the left of the NY Times, Washington Post and many others if you can believe it. But, it keeps me apprised of what’s happening on the “other side.” It’s frightening!
The good news is that many more people are posting messages in opposition to open borders since Texas began sending them busloads to deal with. Suddenly, they are concerned about their imploding budgets, and the safety and education of their children. Thank you, Governor Abbott!

I’m curious – what does everyone think of Congressman Clay Higgins – former law enforcement officer. I saw an interview with him and Tucker Carlson and I really, really liked the guy – but admittedly have not done a deep-dive on him yet. Louisiana.
And if he is a stand up guy – his experience in law enforcement and investigative work – might come in pretty handy cleaning up the swamp land as a V.P.
