That’s a Whirlpool Cabrio electric dryer, circa 2010. Notice the large 240V plug /outlet on the wall behind it. No washer needs 240V but all electric dryers in the U.S. use 240V. I almost bought one of those but bought a Maytag Neptune model instead (still have it).

My maiden name is Cornwall. Got called “Corny” a lot as a kid. Ha ha. I use it as my legal middle name as do my daughter and one grand. So, I often dreamed of visiting, and especially of taking my folks. Sadly, both my parents had significant health issues and it was not to be.
With the political climate in the UK, and the state of air travel, the dream has now lost its lustre and is no longer on the bucket list.

Oh Betsy! So precious. And, so thoughtful of you. No surprise there! And I’m sure you know the story of the cross on all burros’ backs. Even our two white burros (Louisa and May) have a faint cross if you look closely.
Without getting too morbid (and me becoming morose), we had a lovely grey girl who looked like these sweethearts named Anabel. We got her from a Christian Boy’s Camp along with her brother Lordy – full name, Lordsburro. The camp was so poor, they could no longer feed their animals.

Home they came with us. Annabel was a beautiful, sweet, shy soul. She died a horrendous death when illegals came through our property and left plastic bags of leftover food and trash. She ingested them and strangled her colon.
I am Still trying to forgive and need to do better. But, I will never forget.
My sweet Lordy is a story for another day – and a sweet one. ❤️
It takes, I think, sis, a very special heart which is drawn to the love and care of these most precious of God’s creatures 💕 There are many donkey rescue centres in Blighty and so I am very much aware of how much it takes to keep them. I’m sure it is the same here. It grieves me beyond any words to read the story of one of those you loved. But as my sister in law ran a riding establishment for decades and had to see so many of her horses put down, I understand only too well how heartbreakingly unbearable that would have been for you to see the suffering of an animal you loved. 💔

I will tell you of my Lordy in the future. He died at 30 in 2022 – on September 12, at noon (but who’s counting!) He was the most amazing creature and letting him go was torture, but the right thing to do. Sometimes I hate doing the right thing. My husband always lets me decide when the right time is because he thinks the fur kids and I commune. We do, but it is such a burden.
Haven’t been called Corny in a long time, but it fits! Ha ha
We just know the time when it comes, hard as it is to say goodbye. Part of the love in easing them from suffering. My sister in law finally had to say goodbye to all the horses she loved. She was heavily involved in competitive carriage driving and was around horses all her life. But she is 80 now and physically couldn’t care for them. Fortunately, she has a good friend with acreage and the facilities to care for them, A blessing. But there isn’t A day that she doesn’t miss them dreadfully. Bless your husband for deferring to your heart and your wisdom.

It is particularly special and I’m bubbling over, because today is my daughter’s Spiritual Birthday. She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior 9 years ago today and at the end of this month, it will be her 18th birthday and she loves God more now than ever.
I remember the day – it was cold and had just snowed around 8 inches! I asked her if she wanted to wait until her birthday, so we could have a nice luncheon party and invite a few friends. “Why today?” I asked her.
“Because the Holy Spirit is telling me to, Mom”
“Get dressed and let’s go!!!!”
The baptismal water was not heated, so we were freezing. We donned robes over our unmentionables and I was able to baptize my daughter that day. At that moment, I felt the incredible stewardship and labor of parenthood suddenly removed from my shoulders. I knew, that at that moment, nothing in the future of her life mattered – that she belonged solely to God and I was merely a spectator and a servant set in place to minister to her worldly needs. He had all of her Spiritually.
We were soooo poor. I took her to Steak-n-Shake for lunch after church. I was a goof and didn’t bring us a change of underwear, so our wet undies were bleeding through our clothes and pleased as punch, I turned to everyone and said “ASK ME why my clothes are wet!!!!”
Just thinking back on it makes me cry. I knew nothing in our lives would ever be the same again and I knew none of it was up to me.
Our dear friend, Kris, was interned on this date when she passed away five years ago. Bittersweet.
There was a gorgeous sunrise this morning as kiddo made her way to school on the bus and she texted me that “God and Kris were sending her the sunrise to wish her a Happy Spiritual Birthday”
What would we do without our most gracious and merciful God and Father? He Is my All in All.

Today’s real dinner here is lamb breast plate with vinegar parsley sauce. Should be interesting. Has ALL the spices!!!
Olive oil, marjorum, basic, oregano, thyme, coriander, cumin, cinnamon, kosher salt, black pepper, paprika for the meat’s dry rub.
Its sauce uses lemon, garlic (we would use this very sparingly due to allergies), white wine vinegar, fresh parsley, honey, and red pepper flakes.
I’ll make homemade Naan bread with honey vanilla Greek yogurt and some fresh brussel sprouts.
Dinner around 6 PM. Y’all come on.
Morning JWoo and juststevie! JWoo, wanted to ask you, have you tried intermittent fasting? Does wonders for the unwanted pounds and the blood pressure. Especially when combined with low carb. Dietdoctor.com has very helpful info on intermittent fasting, low carbs and bunch of other stuff.

Yes, Sir, I have (do). I intermittent fast daily. I stop eating around 6 PM to 7 PM daily and do not have my first nourishment until around 10 AM, if not a bit later. I also partake in Spiritual fasting for 3 day stretches about quarterly – or as prayer life leads. I have entered into 2 – 5 day fasts thus far this year, which is a first for me. I take only water, some herbal tea, some lemon water, or maybe a bone broth twice during really long fasting stretches. Liquid IV for hydration and now SuperBeets with my water.
Strangely, I cannot lose a pound this last 3 day fast. There are strange things going on with inflammation in my system and now recently – I am getting quite ill. I have something called the DASH diet to implement now, however I must also avoid cruciferous vegetables and nightshades, which is really hard for me.
The recent illnesses – sickness to my stomach – is going to force me to get really stringent. I, too, may be reacting to all the supplements – up from taking one small pill a day to almost 20 and it’s a real chore. Takes me 20 minutes just to organize it every week. Savannah thinks I could subsist on pills, which is not my goal. They have me on a blood pressure med, low dose, but it’s not helping me much. I head back to doc on the 12th.
For us, this is a little difficult because I fortified our home when Sundance gave the word and thus we have much in supplies to utilize and I am not a wasteful person. Financially, I have to be careful about extravagant diets and I won’t make multiple meals – one for kid and one different for me. Too much labor in that.
With our 7 cu foot freezer in the garage – and my oversized pantry – I bet I have enough sustenance for about 2 years if push came to shove. Or, maybe 1 year if you all came to my house for a party! I throw an excellent soiree!

By the way, the brussel sprouts I mentioned in my previous post in this thread aren’t good for me either, but I can’t give up everything cold turkey immediately and these were beautiful and reasonably priced sprouts.

I recently adopted a gluten free diet. It’s hard since I love bread and pasta, but….my gut feels much better, and I am thankful for that. And….I have found a few gluten free pastas that are passable.

I’m praying for your health, JWoo. This is some weird stuff. Once I started the intermittent fasting plus low carb the pounds just disappeared. And 12 hours after the last meal the body starts repairing itself. I still love eating my fruit, though. My excuse is that I need the fiber. 😁

Yes, been taking thyroid replacement 16 long years. Recently switched to organic Armour and they upped the dose from 90 mg to 120 mg. I’m pretty “over it” and tired.
The Lord has His Ways and I’m grateful for my experiences that help me prepare my own daughter. As Citizen said, no regrets.
Your mentioning cruciferous veggies and thyroid peaked my interest as I am hypothyroid and my daughter has Hashimoto’s. I read several relatively recent articles about it. The most comprehensive article is at

All the articles said that steamed or cooked cruciferous vegetables eaten in moderation don’t cause problems with either hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s.

I relate to your figuring out when to take what pill. I think I’ve got it figured out, finally. Just had labs done and all returned within normal limits, including TSH. So, my addition of alpha lipoic acid isn’t interfering with my levothyroxine and the hydroxychloroquine isn’t messing with the pepcid. YAY!

Biography: Jackie Coogan had a long acting career, beginning at age two in silent film and continuing until his death at age 69. His most remembered roles were in the Charles Chaplin film “The Kid”, and his electrifying performance as “Uncle Fester” in the macabre sitcom The Addams Family in the mid 1960s.
Coogan was born into a vaudeville family, and was discovered by Charles Chaplin while performing at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. Chaplin tried him in small role in a comedy short before making the 6-year old the co-star of his first full-length feature film “The Kid”. The movie catapulted Coogan to fame, making him a household name and Hollywood’s first child star. He worked continually through the silent era, and transitioned to ‘talkies’ in the title role of the first sound film adaptation of Mark Twain’s “Tom Sawyer’.
In May 1935, 20-year-old Coogan was the sole survivor of a car crash that killed his father; his best friend, and two others. In October of that year, upon turning 21, he discovered that nearly all of his earnings to that point had been squandered by his mother and step-father. He sued them in 1938, but was able to recover only a fraction of his money. Attention to his plight led to the 1939 passage of The California Child Actor’s Bill (also known as Coogan Act) which requires 15% of minor’s wages be set aside in a trust fund as their sole property.
Coogan served in World War II as an army pilot with the 1st Air Commando Group in Burma.
After the war, he returned to Hollywood, becoming a character actor in film and television. His most renowned role was as Morticia’s explosive Uncle Fester in the 1964-66 series “The Addams Family”. He continued to work until two years before his death.

I wish you lived closer. I am certain I mentioned that my dear friend, Jon E Gee (Gunnell), who is the bass player for John Mellencamp has a music school here that used to office across from mine. My “make a joyful noise” friend. On Thursday nights during the summer, they host a free concert where the kids who study at his academy can play and strut their stuff. Sooooo good!!!! And Jon and his wife Sondra are good, God-loving, Spiritual people. What an impact!

The word of the Lord pierces even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, there is no deception left. There is no possibility of being sentimental with the Lord’s question; you cannot say nice things when the Lord speaks directly to you, the hurt is too terrific. It is such a hurt that it stings every other concern out of account. There never can be any mistakes about the hurt of the Lord’s word when it comes to His child; but the point of the hurt is the great point of revelation.

It’s back from the road, surrounded by jungle. You can get a really nice hotel room there for $14/night. (There are also a couple of pricey resorts…) Now THIS is being built all around him. They have destroyed the landscape for it. What do you think it is? Son says it’s being built by Russian investors but the uber wealthy build their own fortresses and at these prices, it looks like they’re going after the ‘middle’ class. Whatever. Are they getting ready for people to flee from WWIII? Bali is a safe place. No need for ‘Fort Knox’ security. But the locals are furious about this so perhaps the builders anticipate an uprising?

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Why am I flustered and oh so uptight?
I had to stop the panic – get my head on straight
To be done and completed – I just could not wait
In all the anxiety – I forgot one important thing
I had not remembered – I was under Your wing.
All the sources I amassed for my work
The one high above all I must not shirk
It was You, Sweet Jesus – I left behind
Have I lost my edge – misplaced my mind?
I stopped what I was doing to take quick stock
My website – went awry – it really did not rock
Of course without help – what could I expect
I must go to my rock and get it all checked.
I stopped again – remembered her advice
I must pray – and ask – if I have to – twice
I must trust in God – with all of my heart
Lean not on myself – right from the start.

I had a weird larger sized Warbler skulking around my bushes for a couple of weeks and I could never really get a bead on him with my binoculars. I finally did a few days ago, and too my surprise turns out it was a Yellow-breasted Chat! This is a warbler species a bit larger than most and one that I had only seen a handful of times up north (never in my yard) and never where I am now. So when you bird watch you never really know what you are going to see. A surprise can come at any time and any day. Best to all.

Our little Carolina wren couple have finished their nest on our front porch across from the front door. This is their 3rd time nesting up there. We really do have a birds eye view.

I want to go up there about an hour north of Grand Traverse and see the wild winter waves and lighthouses. We will take parkas.
I drove from Stevensville up the coast to Benton Harbor daily for work for ~2 years, the winter drive has awesome views, especially when you could see over the cliffs and the icebergs were plentiful.
The winter view here in CO is pretty hard to beat tho, just got to watch out for the Texans(among others) driving on slick roads.

This is the land I developed and the house I designed from a Linwood Homes package from Canada. I was a novice, and it was funny because we had to pick up the house and move it 5 degrees to just barely eeek by title 24 standards in Fallbrook, CA – northeast San Diego county. The avocado capital of the world. I do love my windows and bathing in the sun.
Across the street from this place, is a privately owned road with a small mountain filled with Eucalyptus. (Back before we were too worried about forest fires. Sadly.)

Speaking of San Diego … I’ve always been a fan of Stone Temple Pilots
Awesome house. I grew up in San Diego. An uncle and family lived in Fallbrook. Loved going up there. I still have a cousin in Vista and step family in Valley Center. I miss the beach and just the sounds of the ocean.
I lived in the Monterey area (Ft. Ord) for 25 years where my kids grew up. My youngest would roller blade from Marina to Pacific Grove, 11 miles on weekends.
I’ve recently biked those miles of beautiful coastline. I thought everyone on these pages was wayyyyy older than my young 68 years … but there are some young sprouts like you here too. I learned half of this music from my kids. But I like it as much as my old school rock.
You’re in my daughter’s territory, although she’s on the coast in Dana Point. As much as I want OUT of CA … there’s some areas I like outside Escondido… big rocky desert terrain that looked interesting to me. Right about the distance from the coast as you. If those pics are of your home, I’d say you turning your home 5deg. is a good trade off for getting all those windows past Title 24. Let’s just say … I’m “in the business”

Funny story –
About a month or two ago, I purchased an Elizabeth Taylor box set of old movies. About two weekends ago, daughter and I sat and watched “Life With Father”… which we thoroughly enjoyed…. what with all the redheads and baptismal themes… and all. (It’s a really fun movie!)
Fast forward, and THIS WEEK, that very same movie was on a random, antenna-only television station playing here in Indiana.
That movie is 77 years old. What are the odds of that???
Maybe I need to go buy a lottery ticket?
What a great cast! Love William Powell and Irene Dunne. And how can you beat Zasu Pitts for a name?! The oldies are the best. The only thing we missed after cutting the cable was Turner Classics, but we still find many old favorites on various free streaming services.
How fortunate for you that the Kiddo enjoys watching with you.
When my son and I were on our own and poor as church mice, we used to go to the drive-in with a cooler and a picnic dinner. Wouldn’t have missed it for the world!
I like your style, burro. We have a $25/carload drive-in very close to us that we enjoy, too.
As we are sitting together binge watching “Everwood” with Treat Williams (RIP)… I mentioned to her that teens her age weren’t supposed to like their parents. We are blessed to get along well with one another.

Re. What have we seen in the West: destruction of trust in government, Prices rising, freedom of speech lost, lack of trust in science, and medicine. Massive transfer of wealth from ordinary people to the rich. Totalitarianism in Canada, The Experimental gene therapy was mandated. Protestors Imprisoned. Bank accounts closed, this happened in CANADA!. The US has no Southern border people flooding in altering election results. WAr in Ukraine . ETC
