And of course I listened to quality Christian artists such as Pam Mark Hall … John Fischer … along with Cat Stevens (Morning has Broken, for eg.). I always quite liked the Pam Mark Hall song about these Philippians verses …

Sadly Cat Stevens went Muslim a few years after making that song. No idea where he’s at now. But about two months ago an older-millennial friend of mine (Tea Party conservative) found “Morning Has Broken” on youtube. She was floored by the material beauty of the song, and even more by the “Spirit” of it.
Cat Stevens converted to Islam long ago. He supported the fatwa on Salman Rushdie (whatever happened to the Muslim terrorist who stabbed Rushdie in the eye crippling him for life?). He had two good songs, but I avoid his music now. The Pam Mark Hall song you posted is very nice. Thank you.
We have a tendency to, and are manipulated via media, hype etc to “view” the artists as somehow immune from what can and does befall all of us. It’s a lot easier with music, so I try to block out any personal stuff related to the artist, and just focus on what is contained in the music. Love Cat’s stuff, and I don’t want his personal baggage or garbage to mess with what is essentially beautiful music. Him or any other. Of course each must use his or her own discretion and “vibe”. Nobody wants to force themselves to listen to music that makes them uncomfortable. Like now I can’t watch a Di Nero flick and a host of others either because well, now I know too much. Dan I did enjoy him and Meryl in the Deer Hunter – innocence is bliss.
That is kind of the beauty of us sharing here. None of us have to click on anything we don’t want to.
I even go thru phases where I’m just sick of something I usually love. Click only when it feels right.

Good morning JWoo. I notice you are often posting in the middle of the night and remark on insomnia. Have you tried magnesium? Some types will keep you in the bathroom but others will let you sleep. I started taking bioptimizers magnesium breakthrough. Doesn’t work 100% of the time but my sleep is deep and restorative. Just a thought!

Thank you for your kind concern. Magnesium is part of my regimen and my regimen is now pretty extensive.
I have inoperable labral tears in my right hip from a car accident. They have to replace my hip, but refuse to do so because I am “too young”. It impacts my mobility and the pain is now at chronic levels.
I have 15 year diagnosis of Hypothyroidism – recently diagnosed with Hashimoto’s auto-immune, which I think I have had all along. Bad bout of COVID in 2021 almost took me out, damaging part of my lungs resulting in MOPD (the mild form of COPD); sleep apnea; and now Stage 2 hypertension, along with a DNA deviation of MTHFR positive which requires all vitamins to be methylated for absorption. I was taking vitamins, but my system wasn’t metabolizing them properly, so they had little to no effect. That has now changed.
When a person goes to bed, their heart rate lowers. Mine does not. Mine reduces to what’s considered normal awake activity and my blood pressure is stage 2 hypertension during the day. This blood pressure thing, the MOPD, and sleep apnea is all new – in my opinion 100% Covid related. No weird vaccines here – but we were treated with the Regeneron monoclonal antibodies – and I was just really, really sick and it immediately pushed me into full menopause overnight at the age of 47 with no previous perimenopausal symptoms. I could only speak in one octave for four months. I still have recurring and frequent Parosmia (strange smells with no known origin – brain damage of my olfactory nerves.)
It’s a bit of a vicious cycle with all of it. One affects the other. Pain, inflammation, inability to breathe normally.
My hope is that once they get my body metabolizing properly, my blood pressure can go back to normal, maybe get a hip replacement fitted in somewhere, and go back to normal activity and drop some of this core weight I’ve adopted. My job is 100% sedentary and inability to breathe can affect stamina. We do take water aerobics and love it, but I stopped recently because of the blood pressure results and kiddo hurt her ankle. My blood work shows six key indicators at double their normal range and this is all new because I have routine blood work practically quarterly for the hypothyroidism for years and years – so we had lots of benchmarks to work with.
Fortunately, a CT scan of my heart showed 0% calcification – so the ticker is healthy – just overactive. Pain can also cause blood pressure to rise and from the car accident in 2018, my systolic and diastolic each raised about 30 points from my normally low blood pressure. But what’s happening now is frankly bizarre and I’m convinced it is COVID related.
I have an excellent functional medicine doctor as I mentioned on the prayer thread this morning responding to your conversation with Leavemygunsalone and Della.
Bless you for your wisdom, NanaB, and for mercifully sharing it with me and others. Magnesium is an important assist for pain – as it helps break down lactic acid in the body. For those with the MTHFR deviation, then they should take a methylated form of it. Just look for the word “Methyl” in the ingredients.

My goodness! You have a lot going on but so good your heart is healthy..just frisky! I can’t remember where I read this a few days ago but functional doctors are starting to use bifido bacterium for long covid symptoms. I’m going to try to find more info on this before trying it. It was a doctor that had been checking stool samples of her patients pre covid for some reason and then after Covid this bacterium was absent for a few months after infection. Then she began testing her colleagues before and after the shots and found to my recollection…the bacterium didn’t return to normal if at all. She thinks any post infection and post shots have depleted this in our guts and causes the body to not be able to recover properly. I think I saw her on the Covid summit last weekend. It’s an interesting hypothesis….maybe it would help with my brain fog😂

That is interesting? I wonder if the bacterium is missing due to the heavy antibiotics used to treat the primary and secondary infection. The doxycyclene (sp?) is what robbed me of my voice. Heavy ZPAC (not tapered, where you take 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 – it was more like 5,5,5,5 etc… but I can hardly recollect.)
You speak of brain fog – I’ve got it, too, friend. 4 MG of Omega 3 for that. The America’s Frontline Doctors are also treating long-Covid with Low Dose Naltrexone, which is a medication used for opiod / drug addiction. Something about how it interacts with the brain. I don’t know all the details. Had to get it from a compounding pharmacy, but it’s not expensive.
Hmmm… maybe we try the Ruta Maya decaf together? I’ll get some, brew a pot, and have it waiting for you. Meet you on my curb and we’ll sit and have a cup. That would be really nice.

Biography: Juan de la Cosa was a Castillan navigator and cartographer, best known for creating the earliest European world map. This nautical chart is the first known representation of the New World, the equator, and the Tropic of Cancer.
De la Cosa was owner and master of the Santa Maria, the largest of the three ships which Christopher Columbus used in his maiden voyage across the Atlantic Ocean. De la Cosa also served as chief pilot for the subsequent expedition of Alonso de Ojeda, for which he was joined by Amerigo Vespucci.
When De la Cosa returned to Andalusia, he drew up his famous world map based on these experiences in the Americas. Biography: Cuauhtémoc was the last Aztec Emperor who reigned during the final years of the Aztec Empire. He is remembered for his resistance against the Spanish Conquistadors and his determination to uphold the traditions and independence of his people, even in the face of overwhelming odds.
Coming to power in 1520, Cuauhtémoc inherited an empire in crisis. The Spanish forces led by Hernán Cortés had already arrived, and the previous emperor, Moctezuma II, had been killed. Despite these circumstances, Cuauhtémoc refused to surrender to the Spanish and led his people in a fierce resistance.
One of the defining moments of Cuauhtémoc’s reign was the siege of Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital, in 1521. Despite facing a well-armed Spanish force and their indigenous allies, Cuauhtémoc and his warriors held out for several months. Mike Rowe is my celebrity crush and the guy I am certain I was supposed to marry. We just weren’t quite in the same place at the same time – but we came close on a couple of occasions! He would have loved me in my Caterpillar days – gulp 30 years ago.
Another employer, Terex, hired him to work a trade show – along with Lionel Richie to entertain- but I digress. Seriously passing ships in the night. He would have LOVED me and well, I certainly love him, hubba hubba!
Got to talk with his Mom, Peggy, once and she complimented Savannah’s violin skills. She played by ear without formal training when she was little. She didn’t stick with the violin though. Couldn’t keep up with more accomplished students in her school.
Peggy is a prolific writer in her own right and her little books are hysterical. A worthy read.
Let’s hope Mike Rowe reads this and asks me on a date. Except he might be mad that I’ve read all his Mom’s books, yet only used his book “The Way I Heard It” as a door stop. It just happens to be located on the top of my bookshelf – I just never got around to reading it – and I don’t think he would be totally put off in that I found a utilitarian use for the book.
No doubt, he’d love that. Always like watching Dirty Jobs.

Oh yeah… his foundation Mike Rowe Works is gangbusters. He is doing lots of scholarships for folks interested in trade work. He even posts jobs for folks such as piloting jobs that Savannah is interested in if she can get her piloting licensing underway and completed. She’s still a baby with only 1.2 flight hours.
He’s got a podcast on Spotify and it’s pretty fun, especially when he’s interviewing his mom.
Sadly, I dropped facebook after realizing they were data-farming and lost connection to him and his Mom. I wasn’t friends with him personally – just a fan – but his Mom and I interracted as I was one of her “little facebook friends” back when she was new on there.
As for Mike, fate has caused he and I to miss each other. I’m just not quite in the right sphere for us to have met and I’ve had three such brushes to do so. At CAT, at Terex, and then he came out to Indy to visit a local farmer who happens to be an alumni to my daughter’s former fancy private school. (These are very small circles… even though CAT and Terex are huge – I was in some unique positions with them that put me “right there” but I couldn’t physically get right there to meet him much to my discontent!)

Harry Houdini the Maine Coon was apparently alerted by the lightening. It passed us by, so we must have just been on the skirt of the storm. Nobody was sleeping last night, though. Frustrating.
Maybe Rah saw more action if he’s back from his trip to see Niki. I pray she is doing alright and continuing to improve.
Everything here has come up from the South or Southwest this winter. Rain off-and-on forecast here for the rest of the week.

There’s a thunderstorm rumbling through here making the cats anxious. The kid is even awake and stirring.
The Maine Coon seems to be reacting much like a dog afraid of the lightening manifesting outside. Waking, cuddling with me, purring hard and chewing on my fingers. “I’m awake, buddy, I’m awake.”
Started to read Retired IG’s post from Dr Robert Malone. Got about half way through and much of what is said has already come to be realized by the awakened few.
Kiddo lost her job. Sadly they lowered her hours to the point of being completely off the schedule. She’s frustrated. Other workers stood around on their phones, a lesbian constantly complained of being annoyed by her wife, and a gay manager woman wore her pants down at her hips exposing her underwear the way criminals do when they are inviting extracurricular activities in prison. No warning for my daughter, but daughter is not good at hiding her faith… so it became apparent something was up when we cleaned cars for them in the last heavy snow so they could head on home after their shifts and not a “thank you” was said.
Now to compare… Savannah had triple the hours of others at Chick-Fil-A. Her job performance was never in question. In that scenario she was harassed by a DEI employee who happened to go to school with her too, so she quit when they wouldn’t resolve his public taunting of her despite managers telling him to leave her alone.
We are in a new breed of world. Where those who are lazy and take advantage of higher pay with equality but no meritocracy reign.
My own job as an Office Manager and Bookkeeper is seeing frequent failures of software in three separate operating systems. I handle all the money and handled all the administrative operations in every way… up until 2 months ago when we hired a salesman to help me. Alas, there are concerns and my blood pressure is showing it. Pay without merit. It’s happening everywhere and affecting global companies… not just us small guys… like Intuit QuickBooks and Adobe Acrobat caught in the cross hairs of a global information fight between Google (ABC) and Microsoft. They’re choosing sides and it’s causing breakdown in software applications including Microsoft Office, QB, and proprietary industry specific software. Latency, email issues, glitches software that throws one out of applications requiring constant repair and reboot. It’s awful. Even intuit in the Philippines is feeling it and disclosed such to me and what they are having to do to try to get around it… advice directly opposing our proprietary software coders in our industry… thus the factions begin.
The question I posed to the revealing agent in the Philippines… “What do they do, when we all quit out of frustration.”
That comes to my reason for posting here.
I have cats afraid of this lightening storm. A teen daughter awake and restless. All of us quite uncertain of our future, but certain FULLY in our faith in God and understanding that it is only HE Who Has final say in every matter.
What’s my job in all of this?
It is to stay above board at all costs.
Continue to protect my employer’s interest and
that of our customers.
It is to continue to find work arounds and even try to set to a secondary system independent of the internet should it go down.
It is to REMAIN CALM and comfort those I love. ❤️
We are not in the streets yet. Our lights are still on. This big old dirt ball is still revolving around the sun and it will continue to do so in perpetuity, because GOD promises such.
It is to constantly remind that God Has amazing intentions for each and every one of us that no weapons formed against us will prosper, nor will affect God’s Greatest Purpose in creating us from occurring.
I’m sure a lot more comfortable with God’s Outcomes than humanity’s. ✝️
So tonight, in these darkened hours… I’ve tucked everyone back in, reminded them how loved and valuable they are, am playing some very quiet Sting comfort music to drown out the storm, and we are going to weather through, exclusively focused on what we can control… which isn’t much.
We are in charge of US and that’s the most God Has placed us in stewardship over.
It’s sad to lament over our history and the loss of our ideals… what was verses what is… BUT GOD thought us so valuable to have us alive at the particular time in history to be witnesses to the unfolding.

Count me in on the insomniac club. Haven’t learned how to slow my mind down from overdrive, or as you aptly phrase it, “swirling thoughts.” Of the many techniques and supplements I’ve tried: melatonin, GABA, valerian, magnesium, “sleepy teas,” etc, I think theanine, L-tryptophan, and a nice glass of Port have helped the most. I too use the opportunity for prayer – some of those prayers are requests for sleep!
ya, its like a giant science project. oddly enuff, when I find myself thrashing around, I take hylands restful leg (for restless leg) even if I dont have restless leg. that, and an infrared heating pad, cuz I luv heat. and always prayer. always.
I suffer with insomnia myself. Melatonin can help, although being a “mild” natural sedative it can be hit-or-miss…. in SMALLER doses than too-often found on store shelves. From all I’ve read, one to three mg should be enough for anybody. I’ve tried as much as 5 mg and it didn’t do anything at all.

Melatonin is great and effective, too. Reasonably safe per our old pediatrician. However, with the sleep apnea, I’m careful to not sleep too soundly. My Maine Coon has taken to being a “therapy cat” and he wakes me up if I sound funny, I guess?!
When she left, he went on to harass another employee and he was fired three days later. If she could have just held on. However, we didn’t have the foresight to know how it would play out and the employer was violating their handbook rules all over the place. It makes me sad for her. She loved her job and loved the esteem boost of earning her own money.
She’ll get her groove back.

After a long day’s work this evening (Tuesday) Savannah and I went out to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. We went really early before dinner rush, around 4 PM, so we were the only ones in this little hole in the wall.
The restaurant owners have their very young children with them roaming the restaurant and there was a small boy, maybe around 2 or 3 years old. Grinning ear to ear and obviously very FULL OF HIMSELF and ALL BOY. I think he thought Savannah was pretty because he was really working at getting our attention.
Well THAT he did!!!
He had to go potty and he comes strolling out of the bathroom from their back room out into the dining room buck naked from the waist down with his little winky dink out for the whole world (US) to see!!!
The mother emerges from the back room oblivious and we were like “Ma’am. Ma’am. MA’AM!!!!! MA’AM!!!!”
She sees him and that kid was just grinning from ear to ear obviously giving his mother nine kinds of nonsense.
She gets him all back in order and that little guy comes strolling past our table and he’s just smiling like the Cheshire cat. He had no shame in his game! Lord, have mercy!!!!
We were rolling. We were laughing so hard, we were crying. It was our first time in this restaurant and we certainly didn’t expect this! Then Savannah says that when she has kids, she’s having three girls, but no boys!!! Uh, yeah, that’s not how that works, Sis.
Girls are terrifying, boys will keep you on your toes. Both will give you a lifetime of comedy.
JWoo….You jogged a memory….From my way back machine…baby #2 is a boy….and my daughter was not quite 3…and she had asked about how he urinated when i was changing his diaper….so I explained briefly, the difference between boys and girls…and that was it…or so I thought…fast forward a month…in a nice store, children’s dept…there was a man shopping a few displays away from us…at the top of her lungs….”Mommy, does that man have a penis?_”….(this was way before the movie “look who’s talking and the sequel”.)…I think I hid in a display rack…

Now we believe. Jesus says – Do you? The time is coming when you will leave Me alone. Many a Christian worker has left Jesus Christ alone and gone into work from a sense of duty, or from a sense of need arising out of his own particular discernment. The reason for this is the absence of the resurrection life of Jesus. The soul has got out of intimate contact with God by leaning to its own religious understanding. There is no sin in it, and no punishment attached to it; but when the soul realizes how he has hindered his understanding of Jesus Christ, and produced for himself perplexities and sorrows and difficulties, it is with shame and contrition he has to come back.
We need to rely on the resurrection life of Jesus much deeper down than we do, to get into the habit of steadily referring everything back to Him; instead of this we make our common-sense decisions and ask God to bless them. He cannot, it is not in His domain, it is severed from reality. If we do a thing from a sense of duty, we are putting up a standard in competition with Jesus Christ. We become a “superior person,” and say – “Now in this matter I must do this and that.” We have put our sense of duty on the throne instead of the resurrection life of Jesus. We are not told to walk in the light of conscience or of a sense of duty, but to walk in the light AS GOD IS IN THE LIGHT. When we do anything from a sense of duty, we can back it up by argument; when we do anything in obedience to the Lord, there is no argument possible; that is why a saint can be easily ridiculed.

But rather, with Faith instilled and nurtured by our Heavenly Father, we believe in Him that His plan will be accomplished here on earth, one human at a time, no matter what happens to us. This thought process brings me peace. Because in this day and age, we have no guarantee to sustain the way life has been and what we are familiar with other than what relationship we have built with God. Are you living according to the grace of God? Paul outlines the right way to live in chapter 2 of Titus. The ultimate result of living according to God’s plan for you is your inheritance of eternal life in the future—as well as hope for today!
The challenge for every believer, whether in private or public life, is that the collars and cuffs match. Pray for wisdom and strength for believers serving in government office whose lives are constantly under scrutiny. Ask the Lord to increasingly make you a living testimony of His love and grace.

Just heard of the passing of a “faithful” who had retired a few weeks ago, leaving his loving wife behind.
The thing is, I can’t “grieve” like many people would expect me to. My lady just said to me 2-3 weeks ago, if not for me and her other beloveds, if not for having to leave us “alone”, she would WANT to leave this world as soon as God saw fit to take her.
That’s the whole thing right there, in moments like this.
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Reminds me of one of my favorite spots on the TN side of the Great Smokies, just north of Gatlinburg on the Little Pigeon River. Paralleled by a gravel road for two miles or more, there are several pull-offs for fishing, tubing etc. I found it (with help from a Park Ranger) looking for a place to cast my fly rod. The Little Pigeon is a little wider than that photo, but with some big rocks here and there that make it a gorgeous place to retreat to when civilization gets too much.

I like the Nantahala river around Wesser, Nc., route 74 is right beside the river. It’s usually busy with rafting/kayaking and I never tried fishing it but it looks nice.
Finding this reply way too late… I’ve driven that road, coming down from a rental property near Hiwassee, and yeah there were lots of rafters etc. And several RV parks/campgrounds. Man that is some country. It’s in the area where Eric Rudolph (’92 Atlanta Olympics bomber) managed to hide from the FBI for so long.

awww. I luv squirrels. a few years ago, one of my cats brought one into the cat room thru the flap. I have rescued mice, chipmunks, birds, snakes and frogs, but the squirrel was, well, a squirrel, and took some doing. by the grace of God, I got him into the bathroom and, thru the bathroom window, onto a tree limb. I needed to be chloroformed, but grateful for a good outcome.

when I first moved to “the country” (Lol), a little field mouse found its way to the bottom of our basement egress window.
I went to the little, local hardware store for a “live” trap. They pretty much laughed at me when I said I needed it for a field mouse. In fact, they commented that they needed to blow the dust off of it because “nobody ever buys a live trap”.

Let them laugh! We had an extended family of mice invade our pantry and kitchen this winter. At first, I thought there was only one, but upon closer inspection, it became clear we had a much bigger problem. You would think with 9 indoor cats, mice would avoid us like the plague, ha ha.
Bought 4 live traps and have, so far, caught 12 and rehomed them outside. In fairness, the felines caught another 4 (2 of whom we were able to save). Maybe crazy, but, no need to kill them.

Our present yellow kitty is named, Bad Bad Leo. He was abandoned by subhumans and had a total urinary obstruction. We got him to the vet just in time, and after a week in Kitty ICU, and a week in our home ICU, he is 100% – Thank The Lord.

how old is he?
Not quite sure – vet said “over 7”. He looks older than that and only has 3 teeth. His ears are a bit mangled from altercations, but we think he’s beautiful! I’d attach a picture, but I am slightly embarrassed to say I haven’t figured that out yet.
The same ones who left BBL, left about 20 other cats. We have adopted 3, found homes for 4 others, trapped neutered and released about 6, and feed and house the rest in our garage. Still attempting to trap the rest, but they are savvy!
