Not that any here (hopefully) are in need of “just what IS faith”, but for the “It’s all wishful thinking” up to the curious “OK show me” doubters. When we say we worship a LIVING God, one that is very much present in every single aspect of creation, what we mean is: – a Power, a Mind, an Intelligence, and a Wisdom far, far beyond than what we, trapped in physicality can possibly imagine. Physicality itself contains so much depth, such unbelievable co-ordination and co-operation, things as simple as plants and their entire “universe” of co-operation. – themselves influenced by greater forces such as gravity, sunlight, moon phases, wind and rain etc, all the way along the food chain, circling back on itself in an endless and unfathomable “dance” of cause and effect. Those who doubts we/they are actually communicating with a “Designer”, a Creator, THE Creator – an Intelligence that is infinity itself. Just spend a moment really contemplating the verse from Isaiah “Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these, that bringeth out their host by number; he calleth them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and for that he is strong in power, not one is lacking.”. Even the most faithLESS person should perceive that there is a lot more going on that “just some random event”. They say the biggest punishment in hell is not so much the heat, it’s the eternal “knowledge” that you got it wrong and there’s jack you can do about it now. So be nice, have a little faith. Apologies, if it’s a little early in the thread …
When, as a child, I asked my mother “what is hell”, she said that is was separation from God. Too young to understand then, I certainly understand it now. And the thought of eternity without Him is too terrible to endure.

I didn’t get to all the great posts from last evening till this morning. Long story. But, I so enjoyed what many of you contributed regarding “signs” given to us.
Today happens to be my beloved chocolate lab, Clarence Thomas’s birthday. He would have been 28, but he died 10 days before his 10th birthday. Devastated really doesn’t begin to describe my state of mind at the time, but it is that way with all my fur babies when they depart.
The morning after he passed, I went out to an area where he used to chase the shadows of butterflies. He would spin himself into dizziness chasing those illusive images. We used to laugh until our guts hurt! Suddenly, a beautiful blue butterfly appeared and hovered. I knew it was a sign from Clarence and watched the butterfly 🦋 until he rose up beyond view. The next day, I went out to the spot and called his name, and again the blue butterfly appeared.
I dragged my husband out the next day, called Clarence, and again the blue butterfly appeared, but……had a small yellow butterfly with him. They hung around for a few minutes and then spiraled together up to the heavens. Our little yellow kitty, Baby McGee, had died the month prior to Clarence, and apparently wanted to come along!
This was in the dead of winter, with no other butterflies anywhere. It still brings tears to my eyes, but also great comfort.
Oh, gosh! Just saw how long that was. Apologies.
Worry not, Soazburrolady….you haven’t seen my longer ones or those on the other threads. Personal stories come from the heart. They connect all our hearts. We need a lot more of them, like yours, dear lady 💕🕊

Because we went a bit overboard in our animal rescue operations, we have over 40 pets who rest forever on our property in
addition to the 13 who live here now. It is a bit daunting especially at our age, but, as I say to those who suggest we “downsize,” “And just which of these guys would you choose to go elsewhere?”
If we had the space, we would do the same. When we lived in N Wales rurally, every animal who needed shelter and feeding…and love….found their way to our door.
I suspect St Francis sees you both and is smiling 🙏🏻💕

The truth is that the great majority of our animals are the result of irresponsible and heartless people, who give not a moment’s thought to abandoning innocent defenseless animals into a harsh environment.
We have many predators: rattlesnakes, great horned owls, hawks, javelina (hard to love them!), bobcats, and coyotes to name a few. We even had a mountain lion living in our wash who attacked our old mule, Maude, years ago. Just finding a food and water source would be impossible for a domesticated animal. Sad😥

Yes, Patience, butterflies are considered to be of great importance spiritually. Also, dragonflies. Have those too toward summer’s end: bright orange and beautiful. I have heard tell of people finding coins in unusual places and connecting it to the loss if a loved one. Still waiting for my dad to tell me where the treasure is!

Some make it really hard to identify instruments or to see them as they are played.
That beat in Caterpillar is the heart of the song. So it is also a good choice to showcase his contribution.
Thanks, I try to find something that whomever it is that the Video was produced while they were with said group at the time as some pictures available are 20-30 years age difference and may be hard to determine appearance with lack of screen time in clips …. as you point out … unless they are the lead singer.
It’s made even harder if the one clip they are in has been removed/banned/terminated by user/Utube/rights holder, or made not cross-postable by uploader. (toot-toot from yesterday … which is why I sometimes point that out aka audio only substitution)

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Have you ever put in fence posts or watched them being set? While it is possible to tamp down earth to keep them in place, the most secure and reliable supports are embedded in concrete.
Look now at today’s verse. The only imperative it contains is to “set your hope fully on the grace“ that will come to you at Christ’s return. This means to purposefully stand firm, having a confident expectation that God’s promises are sure. Christ will come again to give the believer a new resurrection body (Titus 2:13, Romans 8:23), and eternal life with Him will be glorious! Your hope is as if you have placed yourself in concrete, where you have no doubt or uncertainty about the blessed life to come. You have an “inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading” (1 Peter 1:4).
With the certainty of this “living hope” (v. 3), the apostle Peter sets actions before you that will support and strengthen this hope within you. Adapting a serious attitude in studying God’s Word will teach your mind to be disciplined, calm, balanced, and steady. Commentator D. Edmond Hiebert says that “mental slovenliness” will no longer be a part of your thinking. Your new birth in Christ gives you the desire and the inner impulse to heed God’s call to holiness.
John T. Demarest observed, “The possession of present good is enjoyment, the anticipation of future good, hope.” Ask the Lord to help you, as well as the believing leaders in government, reflect the actions and decisions of those governed by the “living hope,” weighing matters according to God’s Word. Stand firm, believer! Set your hope fully on the grace of God as you live in obedience to Him.

So, there is a lot of talk about kids identifying as cats or dogs “furries”, they call them.
Imagine if you can, that one of my kids told me they thought they were a cat?
Sitting at the supper table son says: “Dad, I think I’m a cat!
Dad: “No son, you’re a boy! “
My son: “No dad some of my friends at school identify as cats, they call themselves furries, and so do I !! It’s my right and you can’t do anything about it!”
Dad: 🤔 “OK!! “
My son: “Hey, where’s my supper? “
Dad: “Your supper is in the catfood bowl in the corner. Now get off the table you mangy cat!”

Son has adopted a carnivore diet….he said the weight is falling off him.
I have noticed that changing diets, (as in changing what you eat, not as in going on a diet), always causes weight loss.
We have a wide array of things we cook and eat. And we can no longer do those things. And it takes time to learn how to do things the new ways.
But eventually we end up eating enough to stop losing, or even to start gaining weight again.

Have been using Menagerie’s recipe for homemade laundry detergent the last 2 or 3 days. Works just fine and is stunningly cheap! I couldn’t stand the thought of $25 for laundry detergent at the store.
I am keeping it in a 5-gallon bucket with a lid.
I as well had made this and just started using it last big trip to the laundromat.
I think it made (most) of the colors brighter than the Arm & Hammer that I purchased a boatload of (years ago & just ran out of … from like a 2$ sale @ Kroger).
I’m currently soaking kitchen rags multiple times in my laundry sink in preparation to take them to laundromat once the water stops being nasty after a 24 hr soak/change cycle.
Used the individual ingredients last time to soak them and also found cleaner than the A&H made them from times before.
I can vouch for this laundry soap recipe and will add that any bar of actual soap will work. I have subbed in Ivory bar soap for the Fels naptha and it seems about the same. Some use Castile soap.
I don’t heat mine on the stove top when I mix it up. I just use a slightly different portions of the same ingredients from an internet recipe and mix with a paddle a fixed to a drill. Mix 5 gallons at the time and cover with lid. It gets hot on its own from chemical reaction and turns to a weird mayonnaise looking gel after 24 hours. Works really well and usually about a 1/3 cup to a load of clothes.
Dawn dishwashing liquid (diluted with just enough water so it will spray out of a repurposed spray bottle) and a small stiff brush is essential for tough stain pre-treatment and works every bit as well as stain removers.
The diluted Dawn in a spray bottle is also a deadly insect/bug killer.
Orvis carpet cleaner cleaner is the absolute best to clean a dirty horse or dog and its ph neutral so it is gentle. Gets down to the base of the hair/fur coat and really cleans. It is the go to for the absolute toughest stains especially in fine linens or quilts that you don’t want damaged.
If all else fails try Ovus WT
Sometimes you find Orvus in farm stores and tack shops for the folks who really know how to make a horse’s coat glow.

I made it 2 years ago and I’m down to the last 2 gallons. I love it, it cleans well. I keep it unscented. I have a front load washer and have had no issues with the soap dispensing into the washer drum.
