David Thompson
(1770-1857)

English-Canadian explorer (Columbia River, mapped more Canadian territory than anyone else), dies at 86

Biography: Born into poverty in a Welsh family in London, David Thompson was educated at a charity school and apprenticed to the Hudson Bay Company (HBC) in 1784 at 14 years old. An unpromising start for a man who went on to become one of the great geographers of North America, mapping more of Canada than any other individual.

Thompson experienced a deeply religious episode as a young man, where he later described playing draughts with the devil. This incident had a profound effect on the rest of his life. In 1790 he was trained in surveying and astronomy by Philip Turnor, chief surveyor to the HBC. Although appointed HBC surveyor in 1795 he then joined their rival, the North West company and went on to work for them for 16 years mapping the 49th parallel, the border between Canada and the US. He went on to map the north and the west coast.

Thompson’s work was notable for the way he recorded the way of life of the First Nations people and he learnt a number of their languages. His later years were more tragic. He moved to Montreal but lost his savings and ended his days in poverty. His maps were sold to a London publisher for very little and not published under his name. However his reputation was revived posthumously by the publication of his travel narrative by the geologist Joseph Burr Tyrrell.

Yes it was an effort to try to get it all straight in my mind and to remind me how far yet we have to go. But it was also an exercise of joy in having my computer back and being able to type on a keyboard and write as long of a message as I want without losing it part way through or having to reply to my own messages to get it down all in one place.

The models still have not picked up on the Arctic air blast that Joe believes is imminent.

Looking at the various models, none have picked up on an imminent invasion of polar air as Joe thought was coming. But that does not mean it will not happen, nor does it mean that the we’re in for clear skies. All of the models show considerable low pressure at the 500 mb level covering most of the US for the 2nd half of this month. IOW there is going to be a lot of precip either in one form or another through the 2nd half of this month.

The leftists have spent almost as much time and treasure trying to figure out how to convince we who have brains and know how to use them, that human caused climate change is a clear and present danger.

The evil, child sniffing, demented, shuffling and stumbling skeleton that abides in the premium assisted living facility once known as the White House once again declared that Climate Change is a greater threat than Nuclear war.

Everyday were pummeled by stories of how we’re all going to die if we don’t change our fossil fuel consuming ways. Yet we know that such declarations are being made by a government, a press, and an elite that have no intention of curbing their own consumption of fossil fuel and all of which virtually all emit far more CO2 that we people out here living our normal lives.

A single flight to Europe and back by a private jet emits more CO2 than probably any household here will put out in a year!

WE knows these things and much more and remember the Ice Age scare of the 70’s and so aren’t buying it. So they concentrate on indoctrinating our children and grandchildren. But they can’t wait that long! So the attempted they continue the psyop to try and convince us anyway they can, though it is futile and actually damaging to their cause because none of their outrageous claims of disaster have ever come to pass and now more those that were inclined to believe the government and their “scientists” are now less inclined to do so.

Thank you for the video on whether Christians should join the military.

Have a special affinity for the SEALS as I was very fortunate to have good friends stationed in San Diego and got a few behind the scenes looksies. Plus, I come from solid military family.

I knew it wasn’t the same miltary as I experienced growing up.

What I didn’t know is the requirement to sign statements affirming pronoun substitutions… which we all know is just psychological manipulation to exert control over these strong and brave men and women.

Watched it with Savannah last night. I (again) asked her why she wanted to join… she said she wanted to fight illegal immigrants who were invading our nation.

I reminded her that at this moment… she would be fighting against our own government allowing this. She is waiting for the election.

I advised her that maybe her original plan to enroll in flight school isn’t a bad one, as I can see the need for the skill intensify. Though they will try to replace humans with drones for surveillance, there will be times where human eyes and human transports will be needed.

Makes a Mom want to gather our passports.

We are preparing to attend our CPR and First Aid class offered by our local fire department from 8 AM to 11 AM today.

Critical training as the life one saves, could be your own.

Highly recommend, plus we get to know our firefighters and peace officers.

Mandatory conscription into the armed forces or an “appropriate” civil service ought to be considered very very soon.

Several “divisions” or “battalions” of the millions of military aged ILLEGAL ALIENS spread throughout our country will easily overwhelm local law enforcement, federal agencies and our inept “woke” military leaders.

Armed citizenry and hastily organized local militia may be our only salvation.

Churchill was against a cross channel invasion and wanted to continue to nibble around the edges of Hitler’s 3rd Reich. He wanted to invade what he called the “soft underbelly” of Europe and take the Balkans before Stalin’s Armies got them. The British high command, filled with men who had been junior officers in WW I and experienced the terrible waste of trench warfare and lost so many of their men and fellow officers had no desire to experience an replay of that terrible time.

The entire US command was against Churchill’s concept and once the U.S. began supplying the bulk of the men and materials, Churchill and the British simply didn’t have the political clout to prevent the cross channel invasion that the US command had wanted from the time that Hitler declared war on the US. 

Even during the initial planning for the invasion the British military bureaucracy had not yet gotten on the wagon.Initial planning began under British Lt. General Morgan with a small staff in March 1943. Morgan’s title was COSSAC (Chief of Staff, Supreme Allied Commander). He sent one of his staff to the British military office tasked with handing out code names for operations. They assingned the code name “Moth Balls” for the invasion. Churchill, when told, went ballistic and puffed on his cigar and looked at the ceiling and blew a smoke ring and said “Overlord, that will be the code name.” And that is how the overall plan got it’s name. 

At that time Ike had not been named supreme commander yet and would not be until the Casablanca conference and then only because Stalin declared the Allies were not serious about a cross channel invasion if they hadn’t even named a commander. FDR liked to delay tough decisions until he had no choice but to act. He has promised Army Chief of Staff George Marshal the command of the cross channel invasion. But in the end he could not bear the thought of not having Marshal near at hand to consult with. So Ike learned that he would become the Supreme Commander in the back of FDRs limo on his way to board the plane to leave. 

Though the British harbored their doubts they, including Churchill came fully aboard eventually.

For King David, who wrote Psalm 16, his heart was happy because of his relationship with the Lord. He uses the words “delight,” “pleasant,” “glad,” and “joy” to describe his happiness. He found those things in the Lord’s person, in the Lord’s people, in the Lord’s presence, in the Lord’s portion, and in the Lord’s principles.

David knew them well because he had immersed himself in the study of God’s Word. In verse 2, David states, “I have no good apart from you.” The apostle James writes, in the New Testament, “Every good and perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17). 
Do you delight and find joy and happiness in your relationship with the Lord? Does it bring you joy in the morning to know that when you wake up, He is with you? Double-check your happiness quotient today.

If you depend on money, prestige, position, or relationships, they will all fail you sooner or later. However, God never fails. His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23).  

Pray for your fellow Americans to find the Source of true happiness, contentment, and glad-heartedness in Jesus Christ. Be ready to share the hope that is in you with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15). The Good News of the Gospel is for everyone. Pray for leaders in government to slow down and listen.

IS YOUR IMAGINATION OF GOD STARVED?

The people of God in Isaiah’s day had starved their imagination by looking in the face of idols, and Isaiah made them look up at the heavens, that is, he made them begin to use their imagination aright. Nature to a saint is sacramental. If we are children of God, we have a tremendous treasure in Nature. In every wind that blows, in every night and day of the year, in every sign of the sky, in every blossoming and in every withering of the earth, there is a real coming of God to us if we will simply use our starved imagination to realize it.
 
The test of spiritual concentration is bringing the imagination into captivity. Is your imagination looking on the face of an idol? Is the idol yourself? Your work? Your conception of what a worker should be? Your experience of salvation and sanctification? Then your imagination of God is starved, and when you are up against difficulties you have no power, you can only endure in darkness. If your imagination is starved, do not look back to your own experience; it is God Whom you need. Go right out of yourself, away from the face of your idols, away from everything that has been starving your imagination. Rouse yourself, take the gibe that Isaiah gave the people, and deliberately turn your imagination to God.
 
One of the reasons of stultification in prayer is that there is no imagination, no power of putting ourselves deliberately before God. We have to learn how to be broken bread and poured out wine on the line of intercession more than on the line of personal contact. Imagination is the power God gives a saint to posit himself out of himself into relationships he never was in.

I take exception to it being called a crazy quilt, 😉 , because it is really quite beautiful, well thought out, and it appears to me that Mammy was working very hard to adorn all of her fabric pieces with embroidery of some kind, showing off the full range of her skills.

I remember learning embroidery in my 5th grade Home Ec Class, one of the most educational and fun classes ever, because we actually made things that mattered. And back then 5th grade was in elementary school. My elementary school was K-7 and high school was 8-12, and this is city. Elementary was wonderful. High school, horrible. Total disaster.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
