In this concert, produced by Siccas and Vera only a few days ago, we we again
get to again re-visit a very talented player. I have to admit that what attracted me to her performance was watching her introductory performance.
I think I mentioned a while ago that I’d had a hard fall, resulting in a couple of broken fingers on my left hand. Watching Vera’s effortless left hand moves was inspiring. My physical therapist tells me my hand has properly healed, although range-of=motion hasn’t fully returned. She suggests that I re-string one of my guitars and begin practicing scales . . . (Now, why didn’t I think of that . . . ?)
Watching Vera’s fine playing and effortless left-hand work was just the kind of encouragement I needed. Enjoy Treeper, friends. . . .

We have been busy here.
Last weekend, daughter was bored to death and itchy to get out on her orthopedic boot, so we decided to see if we could take advantage of some sales and shop for her junior prom dress.
We only went to two stores and hit the jackpot.
We found the loveliest floor length gown with a slight train, with spaghetti straps, and cowlneck swoop in the front of the bodice. The fabric splits into a mid thigh slit on her leg, but there’s quite a bit of material there. It is a very silky, flowing fabric in a shimmery copper color that matches her auburn hair perfectly. Only one left and it was her size! Wahoo!!!!
We will go today to our favorite seamstress who fixed daughter’s backpack and occasionally hemmed her uniforms as a wee little girl. We will bring her a package of candy ring pops, as Sonja always gave them to the small children. Sonja gave Savannah her last one and as a young child, my daughter insisted we fill Sonja’s bucket back up for her. So Savannah always brings her a package to replenish her candy jar.
We will look at closing the slit further down her leg, bringing the material of the skirt to a more form fitting floor length dress, and turning the extra material into a wrap for around her shoulders.
We found rose gold colored shoes… exactly the style she found and loved online.
She paid for her dress and shoes with her own modest earnings of $11 / hour and with discounts and markdowns, she acquired both for $150.
What a fun day we had.
The ortho surgeon on Thursday declared her broken bone at the base of her fibula an old break and it is encased in dense scar tissue. Savannah remembered years ago, maybe at 9 years old,
tripping on a tree root while playing with friends but it never hurt her enough to get it checked out. So all along… she’s had this broken chip in her ankle. The surgeon teased me for being a bad parent and locking her in a kennel. (He giggled and I was mortified.) I guess the years of buying her high quality high top basketball shoes from the clearance rack to feed her thirst to play ball probably encapsulated and protected my girl’s ankles.
Grateful no surgery and she can come out of her boot this weekend. She just has to stay aware of it.
Maybe we trade the dress shoes for a pair of rose gold glittering high top sneakers?
So our friends can see the pretty color of the material. Kiddo had to try her shoe on with her left foot.. her ortho boot hiding behind the flowy train of the dress.
The dress will have to be altered. She will avoid all tripping hazards!! Lol

Trying to protect some of those monumental memories for our children of today is pretty hard with evil’s intent to ruin it.

My Sarah Grace is shopping for her dress. Her Homecoming one was a delight…beautiful and modest. I noticed in a group photo with her friends, hers was a proper length, just above the knee. And bless them, the other girls looked as if they were about to take to the ice for a skating competition.
But they all looked so happy!!! Dear Lord, may the world they will live in be a gentler one 🙏🏻

In California, for example, they have done this for decades Driver’s licenses for people in the country illegally used to have a dot on them indicating non-voting status. The California legislature felt that dot represented a means of embarrassing the new residents and so voted to no longer put the dot on the license… rending it possible to use the DL as an ID for voting
Those legislators are committing treason and should suffer the same fate. Strip them of ill-gained wealth and citizenship and deport them with the rest of the invaders.

What a massive anthem for a generation … a generation that came after Buddy Holly. Unplugged in England … and just look at the British girls singing the chorus AND the verses … in 1972! Yes, everyone could sing this song. It is forever cemented in Americana.

Paul begins here with considering the true worth of our righteousness; and indeed, of anything we might possess in this life; which will be lost on account of the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord. There are, as he insinuates, degrees of righteousness to which men may attain; but clearly, NONE other than knowing the Lord, and having His righteousness clothing us in the sight of God, shall be found at that day, anything worth.
The apostle’s admonition to let it go and forget, all that we have left behind for Christ; to discipline ourselves to be fixed upon the goal, the prize of the calling of God on high in Christ; is how we must complete the terms of our probation. The Lord Jesus Christ has Himself paid for our redemption with His own blood, and has broken the serpent’s headship over us. And so it is now incumbent upon us to fulfill our calling of God on high, to enduring the chastening, and go through the training and instruction process, for our transformation.
This was the verdict handed down from the LORD from the very beginning; that the discipline of His Spirit presiding over us by our conscience, should be the means by which we prove to be either good, or bad. Why did God let Adam and his wife go free with their lives, under a life sentence of toil and pain and sorrow, until they died; while at the same time having promised reconciliation and restoration to God, through Christ’s coming in the flesh, and sacrificing Himself for our sins? It was the just punishment fitting the crime; and the way to deal directly with the cause of the sin; to put us on probation, and order us to Rehab.
When Jesus called His first disciples; it was for them to be with Him, and to learn from Him, what exactly it meant, that the kingdom of heaven had come among them. And, as we all can read; all of Jesus’ teaching, and how He expounded to His disciples; was about how we have to be disciplined unto the kingdom of heaven, if we are to eventually counted worthy to enter; that is, that Jesus will know us when we come to that day. In this context of our present circumstances in this world, alongside God’s appointed means of saving us through faith in Christ; let us carefully look at the definition itself of discipline; and see how it is the very thing which God leaves us in the world for.
According to Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary; Disciple is defined as any professed follower of Christ . . . A pupil or adherent of another . . . from the Latin root meaning, dis + to take (ie; as to withdraw, abstain from, etc.). Good morning all. Spent 8 hours helping Steve get the front porch of the cabin yesterday.
Got four more rows of planking and then we can lay down the the modern equivalent of tar paper and screw on the metal roof.
Will then start on the smaller back porch.Have to get it done by Sunday night since they head for Florida for two weeks on Monday.
My main furnace went out last night but we’re keeping it tolerable in here by other means until the service people get here this morning.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. – Psalm 147:11
How children smile when their parents spend time with them! It means a lot to feel that they are valued. Likewise, the children of God rejoice when they realize the Lord delights in His people, those who reverence Him and hope in His love in Christ (Ephesians 1:5-9).
However, His children can become so preoccupied with trying to please their Heavenly Father in the tasks they do that they forget that faith is what truly gives Him pleasure. “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). Though you may feel concerned that God loves you less when your actions are less than perfect, His love never changes.
The Lord loves you so much that He sent His Holy Spirit to help you in your struggles (Romans 8:26). When things go awry, the Lord does not turn His back on you but reaches out His hand to assist you.
Picture Jesus extending His hand to you. And what is that on His face? A smile. He is glad when you come to Him in repentance with a hopeful, confident heart. “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16).
Ask your Father for help in these difficult times, for you, your loved ones, and the citizens and officials of the United States. God also takes pleasure in a country that will fear Him and hope in His steadfast love (Psalm 33:12, 144:15). Pray for the turning of the nation, as a whole, back to Him.

WE spend a lot of time trying to figure out what we think are contradictions. We see behavior that is completely contrary to our values and beliefs, and can ‘t make sense of it. Well, the first thing one has to do is identify what the underlying philosophy, the internal belief system, is of the person, government, or institution we are examining. I’ve been saying this for a while, but I’ve never seen such a clear breakdown of the competing belief systems.
The article below is what I call a “foundational article.” It presents a framework for analysis that is so basic, so “step one,” that you can’t really get anywhere without reading and absorbing it. I don’t know this guy. Never heard of him until today (found him through the Ace of Spades site). But his site is going on my daily list to check. I know.
