On December 2, 2023 I posted a challenge in this space to ‘Treepers’ to present what they consider the best single amendment to the Constitution to get us out of the mess we are in. There were several posts regarding term limits, and several other ideas. But there were three posts in particular that that caught my eye because they gestured at what I consider the real problem. Below I have excerpted the key passages with little bits in brackets [that I have added for context or emphasis]:
It [the putative amendment] would be a start to require that our Constitution in its original form be followed as written. No clever “interpretations” by activist “judges”. No twisting of the language. As with Congress who keep passing law after law after law after law, more does not mean better. It was explicit to start with.

Our real problem IMHO is that we need a way to ensure that the integrity of the Constitution is maintained and effectively enforced. Without that our Constitution becomes increasingly sidelined and mocked and eventually useless, which is exactly what the evil elements of our society want.
What I want to do here is invite people to offer suggestions for what, if it were possible, should be done so that the integrity of Constitution can be maintained and effectively enforced. Let’s toss out ideas setting aside for the moment the obstacles to actually get from where we are now to where you think we ought to be. If we cannot establish what our destination needs to be, how on earth can one ever expect to get there?
Once we can articulate our objective as specifically and precisely as possible, I believe that we can have a worthwhile discussion concerning how that objective can be achieved.
So, I invite you to please offer whatever ideas you have concerning ways to ensure that the integrity of the Constitution is maintained and effectively enforced.

You have indeed put your finger on the problem: ensuring that the Constitution is followed. But an amendment that states that the Constitution should be followed would simply be ignored by our federal government, even if it were passed. It’s like passing a law that states that immigration laws we already have on the books should be enforced. It only results in more laws for the federal government to refuse to enforce.

Either the people put 535 moral people in Congress and a moral person into the Oval Office or they don’t. It’s as simple as that. Retired Magistrate here: We don’t need an amendment to the Constitution. Our founders recognized that our Constitutional Republic would only survive if good, moral people who were sincerely interested in the welfare of their constituents and upholding the Constitution were elected to public office.
Over the decades that goal was eroded by individuals who stated what voters wanted to hear during election time, but then ignored those who put them in office and made their main goal enriching themselves and their family members. It has only gotten worse.
Our Constitutional Republic cannot survive with the self centered individuals we are now electing. President Trump is the exception, that is why they hate him and will do everything possible to prevent him from going back to the White House.
So what is the answer? Get involved at the local level and do everything you can to make sure that local elections are won by individuals who have their district or state’s best interests at heart. Of course, the first thing we should all do is pray that GOD would restore our country to its founding principles. Many in this country have turned away from HIM and look to themselves as their own god, so I pray that GOD will show us grace and give us what we don’t deserve; a restored Constitutional Republic.
Your post is exactly spot on. We have had a few in my state run for local office who are great Christians and would make wonderful leaders. They are then met with an opposing candidate with big money donations and completely wipes them out. Wish I had the answer but will continue to pray.
I would not trust anyone who proclaims he is a “good Christian” while running for office. That is not a requirement and it is not necessary to tell people what your faith is when you run. Many who proclaim their religiousity are fake, like the pious Mike Pence for instance.

The problem I think is that the federal govt. has been anllowed to grow into a giant bureaucracy far beyond its intended size per the Constitution. Reduce its duties back to their original intent. Untie the federal govt. from the states who are now entwined with the financial aid of the feds. Shrink every part of the bloated machine running the show. Eliminate all special federal departments such as education. Take back control of the money/taxes.States are the bulwark of the republic with the people retaining the power not given to the states. I have always thought an amendment that would force the lawmakers, and judges, to live under the exact same rules they create for the people, and the exact same rules for government entities and bureaucrats, as the private business sector. Penalties the same for all to be included.

We intend to accomplish this by establishing a strong team inside each congressional district to find and support candidates independently from party machines. We can replace the professional politicians in Congress with citizen-candidates that will actually serve the People as the Founders intended!

What I said about concon remains true, however. A concon can erase any of the existing amendments, articles, or sections of the Constitution upon sufficient ratification by the states. Considering the income tax amendment was, according to many, never properly ratified, it’s highly probable the same communist democrats who engineered the 2020 theft would engineer a fraudulent ratification of whatever malfeasance a concon produces.
Amendment 1 and 2 would be first on the chopping block of any concon; and you can be sure the communists now in control of America wouldn’t leave anything but a slim toothpick of the original giant sequoias that Amendment 1 and 2 represent among governments.

Lawful people proceed by the law as an integral part of their and others inalienable rights and others pursuit of happiness – and have consequences if / when they do not obey the laws (made by God, and God’s lawful children).
Lawless people are care less about a prior written law ( agreed to, and implemented by people through the government branches) if it impedes their non-virtuous pursuit(s) – and a lawful society (of lawful people) see to it that there is (equal, blind folded lady justice) due process, innocent unless proven otherwise, justice for all.

Our representative form of government doesn’t allow us to get there. We have to pick the closest approximation by electing people who promise to vote the way we would like them to vote.
I think a more worthwhile effort is to just try to get rid of Democrats and RINOs. Focus on getting Trump elected and supporting him with GOP majorities and as few RINOs in the House and Senate as possible.

My late husband said the Red Cross were money grubbers 20 years ago.
I remember thinking they were a great organization. Just one more exposure among many exposures these past three years.
I had to have a blood transfusion January 2023 and wished with all my heart that I didn’t have to. I now have a friend who has my blood type if I need another one, which hopefully I won’t. One of the scariest things I have done in my life. I also had one in January 1989 when AIDS was in full throttle and had to sign a paper to not hold hospital resposible if I got AIDS from the transfusion.

I live by a lot of loonie leftists, but am uplifted by others witnessing this ungodly horror show (for sure), who pray without ceasing while we ready ourselves to protect and defend what we hope will be a spark of our Republic.
Every day in some small or large way, we are preparing for our future. Going on long walks to build up our old legs will help us run if we need to. Learning about local plants to use for medicinal purposes, then foraging them, then making tinctures or balms. Looking around our house for weak points and making them stronger, even if it means moving that ugly thorn covered shrub right in front of our frontroom window. Finding deals on food that can last if processed correctly and then processing them correctly to have for days of want, and finding places to hide things that we don’t want taken away — for any reason — and doing our best to remember where everything is when the time comes.
I’m pretty sure that even if it feels like we are stuck in our seats watching the depravity around us, you are preparing your home — and all those you love dearly — for the days to come.
I know you are, you have shown us all very well that you are a woman of great worth who loves deeply.

House GOP Propose $17.6B For Israel, With No Offsetting Cuts To IRS
SATURDAY, FEB 03, 2024 – 03:05 PM
Next week, the GOP-led House will vote on a new, $17.6 billion Israel aid package that won’t include IRS funding cuts contained in their original bill, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said on Saturday.
What’s more (oh boy!), the new House bill includes $3.3 billion to support US military operations in the Middle East as regional conflicts break out on multiple fronts, Axios reports.
Johnson’s announcement comes as Senate negotiators prepare to roll out a comprehensive package that would fund Israel, Ukraine, the Indo-Pacific (oh, and border security funds are in there somewhere!).
In a letter to House Republicans obtained by Axios, Johnson wrote that Senate leadership has “eliminated the ability for swift consideration” of an emergency spending package by refusing to include House leadership in the talks.
“Given the Senate’s failure to move appropriate legislation in a timely fashion, and the perilous circumstances currently facing Israel, the House will … take up and pass a clean, standalone Israel supplemental package,” Johnson’s letter reads.
Johnson noted that the IRS offset was the “primary objection” Democrats had to the previous Israel bill, and that the Senate will “no longer have excuses … against swift passage of this critical support for our ally.”

The bill establishes the pet animal registration enterprise (enterprise) in the department of agriculture to provide business services to pet animal owners who pay pet registration fees to the enterprise by developing, implementing, maintaining, and administering the pet animal registration system, connecting pet animals with their owners and designated caregivers when and after emergencies occur, and protecting pet animals by supporting animal shelters that are caretakers of last resort.
A pet animal owner must register the pet animal in the system annually for a fee set by the enterprise, which must be no more than $8.50 annually per pet animal with a designated caregiver, $16 annually per pet animal that is a dog or cat that is not neutered or spayed and has a designated caregiver, and $25 annually per pet animal without a designated caregiver.
Just another way to destroy the middle class, one nickel or dime at a time.

You encourage school kids to rat out their friends who have aquariums. You use drones to figure out where the outdoor koi ponds are and the dogs being let out into backyards for that matter. You get the dog license information from counties. There’s probably a dozen other ways I haven’t thought of.
