Some people will remain stiff-necked and hard hearted, and while God does not wish that any should perish, He will ‘give them up’ when He is done with them.
As far as the Creation account, best I can offer is to say that if one can wrap their head around 2 Peter 3:8, one may obtain a better understanding.
“But beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8
Trust God. Fear not.
The Biblical account is the true witness of Him that was there when it happened, and who cannot lie.
The proverb Peter uses, refers to God’s long suffering. It is NOT some secret code or symbolical. Forcing another meaning from the context of what is said, deviates, and causes others to miss the point as well.
To Him who inhabits eternity, and waits for the fullness of the times; it is not a matter of it being a day, or a thousand years; with respect to when men think He should have come by now.

Our kids cringe to hear this story for the 92nd time…
Kim and I, both divorced, delved into online dating.
2008 – before it became scammy and lost sincerity.
We had subscribed to different dating sites that shared profiles as “featured guests”.
One morning her profile appeared on my site and I was taken immediately!
This was after we had spent two years each seeking that “someone special”.
I couldn’t message her without subscribing to her site and she had yet to see my profile.
Out comes the credit card and for a mere $39.95 I subscribed and sent her a message.
2 weeks later we had our first date. Oct. 16, 2008 and married Apr. 30, 2010.
I wish I could say the rest is history but there is soooo much fun and adventure to detail here.

Some day I’ll spill the beans on my adopted daughter who claims and is cherished by 3 mothers, 3 grandmothers, and two dads. It’s a Hallmark movie!

The one you labeled “Chevy?” is a 1960 Ford. If you want to see a Chevy, look up from the one labeled Plymouth, past the open space, to the two-tone, white over dark car with the “V” rear end. That is a 1959 Chevy. Those V rear fins were an air foil that at around 50-55 mph caused the rear end to lift up. You could feel it rise. Of course, the rear end got a bit squirrelly.
So … back in grandma’s pristine, eat-off-the-clean-concrete floor, two-car garage in the mid 1960’s … where I was banished to listen to my rock and roll on my transistor radio? Yeah … my grandfather had a 1958 Pink Pontiac … and my grandmother had a dreadful green 57 Ford …
Grandma’s car … uh … yeah 1960’s rock and roll … and end-of-era 1950’s cars. No wonder that garage left an indelible impression on me.

🤣 My father was an automobile aficionado and I picked up on it from him and learned from him. He was an avid reader and knew the history of every American car manufacturer from the early 1900s forward, who their CEOs were, and could name the year of a car from any photo. Unsurprisingly my son also picked up this “hobby” and got so good he could name the make of a vehicle approaching us from behind AT NIGHT, in the dark, simply from the headlights. I would never have believed him had I not been driving the car and seen them when they passed us. At first I would bet him but after losing ALL of the bets, I stopped.
I was very much aware of all of my neighbors’ cars in the latter ’50s and thru the ’60s. We lived in a row house neighborhood so there were a LOT of different makes and models just within 2 blocks. Our next two consecutive neighbors had a ’56 Cadillac and a ’62 Studebaker Lark respectively. So with my dad’s ’62 Rambler Classic, it was quite an eclectic assortment of vehicles… 😁
Remember those Dad socks. Mostly white. Dad would strap his Ray Ban aviator case to his belt when out/about with family. Pen in shirt pocket. Dad, all the dads, not quite as chunky as fellow, above. On a true vacation, Dad’s camera with leather case/strap around his neck.
Inherited those Ray Ban’s. Courage to wear them after a few years. Discovered they were from his Air Force test pilot days. Lens shading was top/bottom, not in the middle. To see gauges? Alas, cannot wear them, need complete shading. Still have Ray Ban’s I bought for college, late 1970’s.
Was born during Dad’s test pilot days, the era most of those pilots had daughters. High altitude did ‘something’.
Mom’s favorite memory during those years were the Lobsters. They flew out of Wright-Patterson AFB, sometimes stopped in Maine. Lobsters pre-ordered to the hangar.

Paul states here that the call of God is to preach the gospel; but remember what Paul means by “the gospel,” viz., the reality of Redemption in our Lord Jesus Christ. We are apt to make sanctification the end-all of our preaching. Paul alludes to personal experience by way of illustration, never as the end of the matter. We are nowhere commissioned to preach salvation or sanctification; we are commissioned to lift up Jesus Christ (John xii. 32). It is a travesty to say that Jesus Christ travailed in Redemption to make ME a saint. Jesus Christ travailed in Redemption to redeem the whole world, and place it unimpaired and rehabilitated before the throne of God. The fact that Redemption can be experienced by us is an illustration of the power of the reality of Redemption, but that is not the end of Redemption. If God were human, how sick to the heart and weary He would be of the constant requests we make for our salvation, for our sanctification. We tax His energies from morning till night for things for ourselves – something for ME to be delivered from! When we touch the bedrock of the reality of the Gospel of God, we shall never bother God any further with little personal plaints.
The one passion of Paul’s life was to proclaim the Gospel of God. He welcomed heartbreaks, disillusionments, tribulation, for one reason only, because these things kept him in unmoved devotion to the Gospel of God.

Hmmm. I think there are more of us red-blooded, strongly heterosexual American men who appreciate art in many forms than some might otherwise believe….
I very much like oil, some acrylics, most watercolor paintings, as well as metal wall sculptures, porcelain sculptures, wood carvings, hand-made/hand-painted ceramics, and stained glass. I also like architectural ornamental art. Of course, y’all know I like a wide variety (but not all) of vocal and instrumental music. Finally, I enjoy watching several types of high-skill dancing from multiple cultures: Argentine Tango, Spanish Flamenco (have tried this with my wife many moons ago) , Irish (River) Dancing, Russian folk dancing and more.

2/1/2024 – Considerations of a Scriptural understanding of Time
A little bit different meditation for today, upon considerations of what is the Scriptural understanding of time; next to our limited perceptions. Limited, I say, not as because of our capacity to learn, as God’s children; but as far as how we are accustomed to perceive, without knowledge of the word, and on our own in the guessing. What is time? Where did it come from? How did it start? What is its nature? And what is expected of me in it?
Genesis 1:1-5 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.”
Isaiah 57:15 “For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose Name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”
Answering to the statement which someone made, that “time is circular;” is, according to the Scriptural understanding of Time, only a very partial definition; and in fact only addresses “set time” as the cycles of the seasons. For when we read the true account in the Bible, of how time originated, as we understand it; it is in its fullest sense under the dominion of, and fixed in the realm of eternity; and so, linearly is without end.
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” From what place He did speak everything into existence; God created “the beginning” [of time]. We have it very hard to imagine by anything we can know or experience in this world; because our only references all begin with birth, and end with death; and beyond the length of our entire ancestry coming before, or those who shall come after; eternity is a mystery. And so, God told Moses, “I AM THAT I AM,” and to tell the children of Israel, that “I AM” has sent me to you.
The creation of time began by the LORD God speaking, “Let there be light;” and the marking of the first day, the separating of the light from the darkness, and calling the light day, and the darkness night. He then proceeded to put the sun and the moon and the stars into the vast expanse of the firmament, “for signs, and for seasons, and to give light upon the earth;” thus establishing measurable time, that is, the cycles of seasons, as we see today. And so, with the separating of the waters from under the expanse, from the waters above the expanse, and commanding the dry to appear; and the filling up of all life in the waters under the heaven, and from out of the earth after his kind; all the systems were made to work as a whole, already perfect and complete.
These are for us to understand time, and times; and the dividing of time. What does that mean? Time as a space from then till then; Times as set times, seasons and conditions; and the Dividing of Time by the hand of Him who created the worlds, and changes the conditions according to His own will and purposes. We all know well the part in the Preacher, in chapter three, where he defines the many aspects, uses, and purposes of time; concluding with, God has made everything beautiful in His time: nothing can be put to it, nor anything taken from it; that is, To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven.
In this vane; as the Preacher searches and tries all the cares and pleasures of life, and all the vain desires of other things; for which men make light of the high and holy call of God to salvation: he says, For man also knows not his time: for as the fish are taken in an evil net, and the birds are caught in the snare; so is man snared in an evil time, when it comes suddenly upon him. And so also does the apostle Paul solemnly warn us to take heed to number our days, and take gravely serious how short our time is.
Ephesians 5:14-17 “Wherefore He says, Awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light. See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be you not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.”
The will of the LORD is, that this temporary probation of this present evil world; has as its only use, for discovering and proving, who is, and who is not, of the truth; for separating out the bad from the good; and then proceeding on with His designs of the everlasting kingdom of the whole household of God.
God inhabits eternity, from higher than the heights of the heaven of heavens; and He has plainly stated, that “heaven and earth shall pass away, but My words shall not pass away.” It is from His view, and vantage point, as the Eternal and self existent One; that He says, “a thousand years is as a day; and a day as a thousand years.” It is not some mysterious code that needs to be deciphered; or for us to figure out a methodology of symbolism: but in the context of what Peter said altogether: that He is not slack concerning His promise; but is long suffering towards us; not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. And if He has thought it righteous to allow for the whole human race to have been born; and for the harvest of both the good and the bad to ripen to maturity; whether it be a day, or a thousand years, all things are coming to His purposes aimed at.
Ecclesiastes 1:9-11 “The thing that has been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? It has been already of old time, which was before us. There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.” Not indefinitely into what we think of as the past; but for the time that man has been on the earth, and must one day yield up the ghost; as the sentence of death must be in force, until God says, “Time is no more” with the bringing in of the New Heavens and New Earth.

The psalmist of today’s verse cries from the depths, the depths of deep distress due to sin, a painful and piercing conviction of a transgression against God. He understands that if God were only holy and just God, no one could stand before Him (v. 3). And yet, where there should be punishment, the Lord offers forgiveness.
In His mercy, by His grace, and through His love, those who turn to Him in repentance receive pardon.
The response should be an overwhelming sense of awe – a fear of God that produces thankfulness for His love and an incentive to obey His commands. The psalmist encourages you to wait upon the Lord with hope in His Word. Hope is anticipation that God will fulfill His promises.
His Word gives evidence that He is trustworthy. As commentator Warren Wiersbe states, “The forgiven sinner is content to wait on the Lord for whatever He has planned for that day. This is not the waiting of hopeless resignation but of hopeful anticipation, for each new day brings new blessings from His hand.”
As the new month begins, ask the Lord to show you any area in life you have not turned over to Him. Focus on the hope you have in God, the peace He gives you as He forgives with love. Then, pray for those in this nation who have yet to hope in the Lord and reap the benefits of His love.

I was listening, rather than watching, and just realized this is Ryman Auditorium, 1892.
I was looking at it and thinking it reminded me of a building I used to sing this song in, with my church choir, when I saw the Ryman inscription. I’ll post of picture of the building I used to sing in and see if anyone recognizes it.
This is one of the places where we held high holy day church services for people from all over the area. It held 3,500 upstairs auditorium style seating I believe, and had many private halls, and lot’s of bathrooms, and some especially for mothers with small children who weren’t conducive to long church services. 😉
I remember it was hotter than heck in the summer, with no AC.
Downstairs was a massive open room, the width of the above building, with kitchens, where we held YUGE potluck church luncheons at the halfway point, dinners, dancing and other events.
P.S. Don’t tell anyone, but this was people of all races, sitting and eating and hearing God’s word together, with no conflict. And we didn’t trash up the neighborhood when we came. We were polite to the owners, respectful, and kept it clean. We knew we were temporary guests wanting to be invited back.
