had to wait 20 years to catch rain running down Ayers Rock, Australia
This was my ‘backyard’ for many years.
I lived in Alice Springs, a short 450km drive away.
One summer my friend came and we did the walk around the base of Ayers Rock. It was 40°C and the souls of my shoes melted off the shoe
Rach, that’s a coincidence. I have friends who just moved to Alice Springs, from Georgia last year. Didn’t you and I have a previous convo about that?
I wonder if they have discovered Ayers Rock by now; I will have to ask.
If you can suggest any other “must see” places while they are in country (IDK how long..), that would be great!
There’s so many beautiful places near Alice. There’s the MacDonnell Ranges, which goes through the town – but has many spots for walks or swims.
If they’re going to see the rock, they would also do the Olga’s, another rock formation. And then Kings Canyon, which is also amazing. But I’m sure your friends MUST know about these places if they’ve been there for a year, even if they haven’t yet made it out. It’s all so stunning, I just love it.
Still in the Northern Territory, is Darwin. The Adelaide River cruise has lots and lots of crocodiles, which was definitely worth seeing. There’s also supposed to be good fishing in Darwin, but I never did that.
If they’re going further afield, I would definitely say they should see Sydney. The harbour with the bridge and Opera House is a must see – maybe take a ferry somewhere to get the experience ?? And while in Sydney, they could have a day trip to Bondi Beach, to see where I grew up 😂. At the north end of the beach is also where I broke my arm when I was 10yo. Obviously an important tourist attraction!
I also love snorkeling. North Queensland has The Great Barrier Reef. But I’ve also seen some really good stuff on the west coast. I also once saw a pamphlet about going into a cage to hang out with Great White Sharks in South Australia, but I was too scared to sign up to that.
And then I’d say Tasmania is also worth a visit. It’s so green and such a contrast to arid Alice Springs. I also really think it’s got a lot to see there.
The Great Ocean Road is a spectacular drive around the south east coast. I did that such a long time ago. One of the highlights of the trip was watching the penguins come in from the water in the evening. I can’t remember, but maybe that was kangaroo island (??)
There’s loads and loads to do all over Australia. I’m very passionate about it, and over the years I have done quite a lot of travel around my country. But there’s always more. And each place has something worth seeing – so you can probably go just about anywhere. And you can find walking tracks with stunning views and often with some wildlife.
Personally, I love to jump in a car and go for a long drive with stops to see all the attractions. On the other hand, I’m not much of a city person, even though I’ve probably been to all the cities.
And now, all of a sudden, I want to take another trip ♥️

I’m from beautiful Bondi Beach, but I left at 18yo for university. I return often to see family. I’m actually just at my parents place now. Leaving in a few hours. This morning I went swimming at Bondi Icebergs with a friend. Last night I had dinner in Chinatown in the city.
Over the years, I’ve lived in a few places in New South Wales and Queensland and Alice. And in between, I’ve done a lot of road trips all over the place.
Pre covid, I was in love with my country. Now I just really like it, but cautiously.
I’m actually a first generation Aussie. My parents were each kids when they came to Australia. They left communism in different parts of the world. I’d say that explains my passion for freedom. Plus I was raised to love my country.

Good morning. I know how it sounds.
I am drawn to remember Moses who after the parting of the Red Sea and the deliverance of the Hebrew slaves from Pharoah… how those Israelites acted. So quick to question God. So quick
to demand food and He gave them manna from Heaven. So quick to build a golden calf idol while Moses was at the mountain communing with God and collecting the Ten Commandments.
God wanted to strike the Israelites down and start a new root of Moses’s descendants and Moses said to Him (this is my paraphrase) “how would it look to Pharoah if You were to kill off Your people after You just delivered them from his hand?” and Moses convinced God not to kill off the
Israelites. (This story is in Exodus 32:9-14)
I also remember Job and how hard God came down on him. (this is my paraphrase) God to Job “where you around from the beginning? Did you watch while I created the earth and all its inhabitants? Who are you little man to tell me, God, anything?” (This story is in Job 38)
I have a personal displeasure for feeling helpless and like a pawn in some larger then life game where entities I have no power over seek my ruin, destruction, and death. Job is a really, really hard read for me. Too many resemblances to my own natural life and the pain of that is simply too great and still too fresh.
However, I know that God Is Sovereign. I know that His Will is for our ultimate good. I know that there are those stalwarts of faith who are martyred and lose their heads like John the Baptist.
It is healthy to have a righteous fear of The Lord for it is He Who Controls our tomorrows. He also controls theirs. Our hope is found here.
God does allow intercessors and it takes a lot of boldness to do it. It’s up to God to judge the humility of the intercessor.
I have been reading of many people, good people like you, for whom life has dealt some terrible cards. It is impossible for me to see what is happening broadly and specifically and make any sense of the seemingly capricious cruelty and misery. The plaintive “whys” are a huge part of my conversations with God…or should I call them soliloquies. I know He hears me. But the answers are shrouded in darkness, known only to Him.
Mustard seeds, dear JWoo. Sometimes that’s all we have…those, and knowing that nothing is permanent in this world except the certain knowledge that we are promised a glorious eternal life. Which is forever.

I think it’s only natural to question God. When Savannah professed her faith and was baptized as a Christian at the age of 9 years old, her very first question to me was “Mommy, why when Jesus was on the cross did God turn His Face away from Him?”
That was her first question. Only hard balls thrown in this house.
I prayed to myself and I sat her down and said:
“Honey, God loves His Son and He loves all of us. God is our Father and Jesus His Son. If I saw something terrible happening to you, don’t you think I would… as your loving Mom… do everything in my power to stop it???”
She nodded, yes.
And I continued… “God cannot be in the presence of evil… not ever. He had to turn His Face away because if He had seen what was happening to His Precious Son, He would have likely sent every angel to Jesus’s aide to cease the mission that was set before Him.
The mission which resulted in His overcoming death, rising from the grave, ascending into Heaven where He Is seated at The Right Hand of God and where death is His footstool, and then for The Counselor, The Holy Spirit to come and indwell in us forever and ever.
Our only hope was for Christ to be crucified and for Him to conquer the grave and prove to us that there is an Eternity beyond death and that death has no power over us.
And God had to allow that to happen.
He loves us with an eternal love.”
My youngest’s starter child (the unexpected but oh so welcome triplets came shortly after) has always loved Jesus. She misses no opportunity to tell you all about Him. She’s ten now. I’m sure her mother has had to answer her questions as you have Savannah’s. It sounds as if God Himself has given you the right ones 💕🕊

Friend said drapes were never opened so sunlight could not get on the pictures to fade them. They lived on the bay side of Boca, had a boat house that at one time had housed a large boat.

Loving God and loving others is the foundation of wisdom. Jesus said all the Law and the prophets are based on these two commandments (Matthew 22:40). You may feel at a loss to understand all that is going on in the world – when in doubt, love God and love others.
Just like the foolishness of God is wiser than men, His love outshines the most compassionate people on Earth. Run to God and pray to be strong in faith, love, and wisdom, regardless of what is going on in the world. Pray for the citizens of the United States and those in authority to embrace the Lord and His truth.

I’m thinking the Kerem Shalom crossing blockade is getting results.
As of today, you cannot find stories easily so I’m thinking MSM has agreed to stop reporting this blockade. That act would give time for the international community to pressure Qatar and Hamas to get a hostage deal done.
As long as the families of the hostages are blocking the border crossing, pressure will be mounting.

I’m curious about the sudden move to suspend UNRWA funding.
The border crossing blockade puts pressure on all parties to get things done. In order to buy time, the Israeli government would need to quash any stories about the blockade. I could see the government agreeing to a pause in the news of the blockade in return for a pause in the funding of the UNRWA.
I think the US would go for this and then put pressure on Qatar and Hamas to get a hostage deal done.

Thinking further about this international court business, I think the hostage families can play a key role. The international court is all about corrupt, low IQ politics. The parties are trying to ram a barbaric cultural virus into a western school of thought.
The border blockade by the hostage families (and their supporters) can blunt a lot of that vulgarity coming from the international court.
Generally speaking, the people of the world will identify with the hostage families. The hostage families should have a physical, political presence at the border, blocking aid until they get their loved ones back. That will resonate with everyone who has a heart.
Granted, this will put pressure on the corrupt politicians who are trying to “mail this in”. That is needed.
I confess I never heard of this before. Tartaria. Have any of you and do you know more about what it means or what it was? What was the great flood of mud? Is any of this information about this true? I will search more on my own, but was curious if anyone knows about Tartary.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Learned something new that I’ll pass along. Smoke stains tend to be very hard to cover. They tend to bleed through.
Sherwin Williams makes a primer that not only covers the stains but is what pros use to eliminate the smell from smoke damage from a fire.
It’s Shellac primer. Product# 849 W 8150
6510-49629.
On the downside it has a strong odor when applied until it dries.

Yep,shellac works…been around forever,albeit most shellacs today are synthetic ( think of Kilz original).I was told by an guy I knew and trusted that shellac become harder to get because of the killing off of the lac bug in India,back in the 70’s…or some such thing…not really sure if it’s true or not.Denatured alcohol was used to cut/clean real shellac.
Regardless,most “proffesionals” that I see (who can speaky English),don’t even know what shellac is.
It is wise to use on interiors only,not anything exterior…same as lacquer.There are good uses for shellac,but apart from the smell and the cost,another downside I found is it can tend to be brittle.
The way I have found to deal with smoke/nicotine/tannin stains is using Kilz #3 (latex).It is sold at Home Depot for around $32/gallon.One coat usually works for mild stains,two for more serious stains,and the smell is minimal.
After a second coat there may still be what looks like”bleeding stain” coming through,but it will cover with the topcoat.(rarely have I had to use three coats)
Paint two coats of one’s topcoat on a small section (1’x 1′),and two coats on a “swatch card – 3″x 5” index card,or the like,and when dry,see if the colors match.If so,you are good to go.If not,then unfortunately you would have to go with the shellac or original Kilzs.(CLIENTS COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS!)
Which is why I try to go the latex route.
