A nice message, but I don’t understand where the idea comes from, that God’s beloved children of election, don’t deserve His grace. I really don’t think that the statement in the footnotes, “grace is getting what you don’t deserve,” is accurate or scripturally sound. It gives the impression, that even though we have repented, and are converted and born again, and Jesus has cleansed us and completely delivered us from our sins; that somehow we aren’t really forgiven; or that it still isn’t enough for us to be fit for the Presence of God.
If God counts it to us for righteousness to believe in Him; and His eyes run to and fro through the whole earth, to find whose heart is perfect with Him, that He may bestow upon that one His blessings; then it must be that God judges it right to give grace to those who love Him and keep His commandments, according as we trust in Him. Grace is how we hold onto our integrity, and our good conscience, and do not sin! How then can anyone whose heart so wants to please God, be “not deserving” of God’s help?
Romans 1:17 “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” It is righteous for God to have mercy and give grace to those who show themselves worthy; not by works of righteousness and our own conceits; but by a good and honest heart, that acknowledges the truth, and is indeed on the Lord’s side.
If it is just for God to have mercy on us, because Jesus’ dying on the cross for us was by commandment of the Father for our salvation; how does that leave us still undeserving of His grace, when we completely depend on Him for it? And Jesus’ intercession for us with His dying breath, that the Father forgive them, for they know not what they do. If He was willing to ask even for His sworn enemies and murderers; do we, His little flock, for whom He sacrificed and endured all that to save us, still not deserve His help?
How then do we not deserve the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ? Especially when it is clearly the Father’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom! Should it be, that we think animals are more deserving of our care, than we are of God? How many times did the Lord openly reprove the hypocrites, for thinking that their doctrines were of more worth than, for people to be healed!
Luke 13:15-16 “The Lord then answered him, and said, You hypocrite, does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?”
There was a comment about how we need to be clear and easy to understand, so the word of God could be understood. I agree whole-heartedly. That’s why I point out what seems to be unclear and misleading.
We don’t deserve Gods Grace or the sacrifice of His Son because we are never free of the Adamic sin into which we are all born. We repent and confess frequently of the daily sins we commit, in thought, word, and deed, no matter how “small” we may believe those sins to be.
IMHO it is arrogant to feel we deserve His Grace. God alone bestows Grace upon His people as He sees fit. His will alone is what rules. Not our opinions or feelings. This is why we pray, why we praise and thank Him daily or multiple times a day.
He has passed all Judgement to His Son, so it is Christ who judges all people. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit work in perfect synchronicity. We don’t participate in deciding who deserves what. We accept His Divine Discipline, His Divine Grace, and His Divine Provision however and whenever we receive each and any of these.
To believe one is deserving of something only the Father can give is an attempt to elevate our judgment to the same level as the Sons. We all know that is not possible.
But we accept His Grace, His discipline, and His provision because we know of His love for His people and constant desire that we turn from sin towards His Son. We accept His love through His Son, but we accept it humbly and gratefully knowing we don’t deserve it.
Indeed, GB … and if I might add …

Wow. We have had here in north-central Maryland a small number of temperature variations from summer to winter in excess of 100 degrees, but it’s rare. Where we live we have experienced -16ºF and 105ºF but I don’t recall that being within the same 12 month period. Normally we have ~70 degree variations.

Over the years, I’ve thought a lot about “grace.”
We sing about it, write about it, hear about it, memorize Bible verses about it, yet still fall short with an accurate definition.
I believe it must be “experienced” to understand its meaning.
And, the believer in Christ, through the abiding Holy Spirit, knows: I’ve just received a measure of God’s grace.
Oftentimes, this happens every.single.day.
It’s a beautiful thing…
I love the statement made long ago by late pastor and Bible scholar Donald Barnhouse:
“Love that goes upward is worship; love that goes outward is affection; love that stoops is grace.”
Regardless of how anyone attempts to explain “grace”, I think this picture is a thousand words …

Good morning Miss Della! I think you have it sorted – the meaning of His Grace – as well as anyone has. It definitely IS personal for each of us. Each of us learns to recognize and know what is Grace vs. Discipline or Provision. All three come from His everlasting love.

You completely misunderstood the point. If you look at what God’s judgment was in the beginning; what He said to the serpent in the audience of Adam and his wife; that is how He would save those who were of the truth, and judge the seed of the devil; by Christ’s coming and giving His life for us. And it was precisely because of the testimony He heard from the man and his wife, of what happened, that God judged it so, that they and their children deserved an opportunity to prove if they were yet of the truth; even though the damage had been done to their souls.
All they who are of the truth, like Abel, will account for themselves entirely upon Christ’s redemption, that we are reconciled, cleansed and forgiven therefore is just and right, because we believe in Him. Abraham believed the Lord, and IT was counted to him for righteousness.
In the example of children or animals, they deserve mercy and forgiveness and help, just for the fact that they are children and animals. That’s one part. The other part is, that it is righteous to have compassion, and the law of God’s nature, to help and do for all who ask Him. If we see our brother or sister have need, do we size them up to judge if they are worthy of our help? Would not God say we have a wicked heart?
The idea that we don’t deserve His grace, on the surface sounds humble and broken; and with the truly saved those feelings are real, and will last our whole lifetime. But in truth, according to righteousness in God’s view; NOT according to our judgment; it is righteous and just to help even our enemies when in its in the power of our hand to do so. So then, based on the popular notion, that we are not deserving; God is essentially unjust to help anyone who doesn’t measure up! And we know, that that cannot be. So the way I see it, the poor and needy DESERVE to be helped, for the very fact that they are poor and needy; NOT because they agree and fit perfectly to our high standards, but because it’s in the power of our hand to help, AND THEY NEED!
Now when God counts us righteous for believing in Jesus; and the Lord Jesus has cleansed us and delivered us and forgiven all our sins, and given us the new birth and the baptism of the Holy Spirit; are we then undeserving of His help to walk with Him? That is utterly absurd. No, I think the arrogance comes from the upside down view of what our salvation really is. It’s being saved FROM our sins, not IN our sins.
Romans 8:32 “He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”
And if we, as you say, don’t deserve His grace; how do the martyrs deserve His vengeance on the ungodly who murdered them? Aren’t we also given the Helper, the Comforter, the Holy Spirit into our hearts, because we love Him and keep His commandments? If you had a son or daughter that genuinely desired, and tried as hard as they can, to please you and do what’s right, in school, with their siblings, in the neighborhood with other children; are you really gonna hold that over them, that they don’t deserve it? Really? Are we then more just and good than God? Or is it that maybe a lot of Christians haven’t been given the whole or accurate teaching? I didn’t make these things up. You have a Bible just like I do. If any of us “continue in His word,” we shall know of the doctrine.
If Jesus has risen from the dead, which we believe He has, then all who believe in Him should also be freed from sin’s captivity and darkness. If however we are still in our sins, and we die in our sins, we will go to where sinners go. That is why His Name is JESUS, “for He shall save His people from their sins.”
Having a humble and broken heart because of our past lives, and all our continual need of mercy and patience; in God’s view, makes us deserving of mercy and grace. Its just that simple. As long as some folks try to hold the minds of Christians in bondage, by telling them continually how much they don’t deserve a thing from God, you grossly and wickedly misrepresent His nature and His righteousness. The poor and broken and contrite sinner who repents, and converts, and wholly turns to God, absolutely does deserve mercy and grace and defending all his days.
The ones who truly don’t deserve the Glad Tidings, are the ones to whom God has shut the eyes and stopped the ears and hardened the heart, so they cannot see or understand or convert. The wayside hearts, the stony hearts, the one who foolishly thinks he can grow among thorns, none of them deserve the grace of God. But the good and honest heart does!
It is not arrogance to understand the righteousness of mercy and grace. How else can we hope in God for salvation, unless we know, that He is faithful AND just to forgive us the sins, AND to cleanse us from all unrighteousness? We like to hear faithful, but somehow the just part escapes us. But He is faithful AND just; not only to forgive, but to cleanse from all unrighteousness. Does that then mean, that we still owe? That we are still in sin? That we don’t deserve?
There are lots of examples, where certain ones took the position of judging whether we deserve God’s grace; and in every instance Jesus showed, that it was not, Who is MY neighbor; but, How am I being a neighbor? The story of the good Samaritan rebukes the notion that we should look at each other as to whether they are deserving; but in terms of how we should take care of them when they need it.
When Jesus said to the angry Pharisees, Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound lo these eighteen years, also be loosed from her bond on the Sabbath day? Ought not, means, Doesn’t she deserve to be healed? Why? Because it was in the power of the Lord’s hand to help her; because she was a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had kept in cruel bondage for eighteen years.
We can all say, just like Jacob; Lord, I am not worthy of the least of Your mercies, nor of all the truth You have showed me; and everyone who is of the truth knows this. But it is precisely this acknowledging of the truth that God counts just to justify the sinner and set him free from his sins.
The publican standing afar off in the temple, who couldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote on his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner; THIS MAN WENT DOWN TO HIS HOUSE JUSTIFIED. Because he came to God and acknowledged the truth and repented, he deserved mercy, he did what was good and right, he earned it.
Does anyone seriously believe, that we are challenging God’s supreme holiness and truth, by discerning good and evil, and saying that the works of each kind DESERVE what God then judges of them?
Its not just for us to accept whatever from God; as if no one could know how He will go in His judgment. It is not a guessing, like the heathen do, who don’t know that God is; and only throw up “hail Marys” just in case there is a God!
We should not think of who deserves what from God, as men think; but we should think of who deserves what from God, as God sees, who deserves what. Like the way we look at the law of God; its not merely for condemning the guilty; but for teaching us the nature and character of God, even in Jesus our Lord and Master. God doesn’t give commandments, knowing that we cannot do them; but precisely because He knows how He made us, and that we are to replicate His nature and conduct. When a man comes to the place where he can be reconciled to God, he also comes to terms honestly and sincerely with the facts done and his real condition. That’s why we come to Jesus; because we trust that He is righteous, and will deal with us righteously when we sincerely repent.

Sundance posted an article about Vivek and how he slyly undermined Trump (PBUH) by saying that there is no path to victory for him and one must vote for Vivek for conservatism and to put this country back on the right track. Trump called him sly for that. I did not pick up on that strategy on Vivek. However, I did spot that strategy used by a popular morning talk show host on 89.9. Oh right. I tried kimchi once at a Korean restaurant local to me. It wasn’t sauerkraut for sure but it wasn’t gross to me, just not something I’d order on purpose. We had some pork that we cooked on a central round heated thing (not a wok) in the middle of our table. The kimchi and some other “sides” were included.
The kimchi is generally made from vegetables, garlic, ginger, and fish sauce, it hits a range of flavors—sweet, sour, and spicy—and works as a condiment, an ingredient, a dip, and a side dish all on its own.
IMHO there are likely many variations that differ by region in Korea and thus from restaurant to restaurant here. It’s an acquired taste.

Matthew 12:7 “But if you had known what this means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, you would not have condemned the guiltless.”
The straightest and most direct message of this whole encounter with the Pharisees, was that which the Lord said; that they didn’t know what it meant, that God desires mercy, and not sacrifice; and that it was their ignorance of the things of the Spirit, written all throughout the Scriptures, that was why they took the Law as a means for ruling over others with cruelty, and condemning those whom God considers guiltless; rather than for its intended meaning, of mercy and truth, righteousness and peace, and taking care of the needs of man.
Along with this rebuke of the unmerciful spirit of the Pharisees; a number of very interesting and important things are touched upon; one of those being, how we are to interpret the stories in the Bible. There are great and many portions of the Bible, which are not studied enough, or are completely neglected; because they are not understood in the sense of their being divinely inspired; but which are simply taken as stories, for filling up of history.
I think this is true, in large part because of not well understanding, what exactly is the anointing and guidance of the Spirit in the saints. There seems to be a strong natural tendency to think of our experiences as entirely in the realm of chance. The suggestion that thought process and conduct, are some kind of independent mechanisms from the “moving of the Spirit,” is an assumption that then leads to conclusions, that then prevent true understanding; thus making it impossible to know with certainty, what is, and what is not, the guidance of the Spirit; because it is entirely centered in a natural mind, and not the mind of the Spirit.
First of all, is the fact, that having the Holy Spirit does not demand the disconnecting of the brain. God did give us a brain to use it! But the thing that’s missed, apparently, is that out of how we think in our hearts, and then the course of action taken, all works together in us, and are the mechanism for discerning judgment, and making decisions; either toward truth and integrity and wisdom, or else to selfishness and sin, by killing our moral consciousness. Next to that, not everything we think and say and do, has moral implications directly, but do require mental faculties and capabilities.
The part, I think, that is for whatever reason left out; when it comes to understanding the connection between our own thinking, and doing, and the moving of the Spirit; has to do with actually having a New Creation Grace been wrought in us; and the part where we are perfect and upright, fearing God and avoiding evil, taking the narrow path that leads to life. This that we have received from Him, is for us in our ordinary lives, and for common interactions with one another.
If we live in the Spirit, Paul wrote, let us also walk in the Spirit. Abiding in Jesus the vine, means that we the branches will already have His life and strength running through us. Abiding does not mean, being continually chopped off and having to be put back on; but it means just that, ABIDING! And if abiding, then the anointing which we have received from Him, is abiding in us also. And if the anointing is abiding, then our course in life will be a true and faithful witness for Jesus; and, as it is said, We establish the law.
It doesn’t break the Sabbath to eat when you are hungry. It doesn’t break the Sabbath to be healed. The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath; should show us that the whole interpretation of the law, which renders it as only something for manifesting sin; leaves out the most important aspect of that conviction; which is to present to us Jesus, who is the thing aimed at of the law; and of all the law foretells of us, when God’s plan for us is completed and done. The letter of the law, as Paul said, is glory; even though it minsters death to the sinner. But Jesus is the glory of the law, as that which is the perfection of God’s image and likeness wrought in us by His grace.
It is interesting why Jesus cited this, somewhat obscure passage in the story of David, as a defense of the disciples’ innocence. And that he said, that the priests on the Sabbath Day, in order to fulfill the law, necessarily must make the Sabbath day as any other day, and continually offer the prescribed sacrifices. We have talked about how the Spirit’s anointing abides in us, even while we go our ways in the common things of life; and are therefore sanctified as “establishing the law;” and what seem to be ordinary things, are constituted statutes and precepts and ordinances.
With respect to the reference to the priests in the temple; like when David and the young men with him, ate the loaves of the presentation; the hard physical work that was required to continue; and was actually added to on Sabbath; was for showing spiritual things that took precedent: whereby also showing, that the “type” of the Sabbath, was not the perfect Rest yet to come; just as the sacrifices, which represented Christ, were not themselves the perfect atonement and redemption that they pointed to. But Jesus in the flesh, in their midst, was all that all the law; the Sabbaths and the sacrifices and the instruments of the holy place in the temple, all pointed to Him who was walking among them, who they knew not.

It was too cold for the new “green” electric buses in Sweden. In one city, they had to cancel most of the bus routes because they couldn’t handle the cold weather.
But what about the wind turbines that are supposed to provide renewable energy to these electric buses?
Turns out that they don’t like the cold weather very much either…
It’s now being reported that ice on the wind turbine blades has caused a massive loss in electricity production during the cold weather.
During several days, they lost more than 1,000 MW of power because of ice on the blades. Essentially the wind turbines froze.
On the 5th of January, seven wind power parks reported a loss of 1 110 MW out of their total production capacity of 2 316 MW.
In other words, the wind turbines froze and lost almost 50% of their capacity in the cold weather. Perhaps if we had some global warming and the temperatures were a little warmer they would work better.
Those “clean, green, renewable” energy devices have done such a superb job at ending global warming … that they’ve frozen solid. Congrats global warmists! On your outstanding success!!!

Batteries get cold and first must be heated using their own charge in cold weather when you first start to drive. The EV ironically wastes a lot of energy in short trips in cold weather to warm the battery, passenger compartment and defrost windows. Long trips with lots of battery use warms the battery up by simply being used.
There are probably warnings about not letting your battery get below a certain charge level in cold weather.
It’s more an issue of not taking the trouble to learn how to use the car. That said you couldn’t give me one of the things

I never had a problem with my Prius. It charged itself while running or when braking or coasting with foot off the accelerator. 48 to 52+ mpg overall depending on season (in my state of MD) since running the heater or A/C also puts a load on the batteries.

As for plan B… it’s always a good idea. But I’ve found that sometimes God has a Plan B, too. And many times it is much different from the one I’ve had in mind and better (which I recognize long after it has been put in place). Makes sense of unburdening ourselves and laying it all on Christ.

I remember college chemistry being fairly computationally intensive
it didn’t require advanced math, like calculus
just basic algebra, setting up strings of numerators over divisors leading to the answer, but you had to set up the equation so that units of measure would cancel step after step, leading masses and volumes to result in concentrations and vice versa
but I remember it being a new means of thought for me and I used it thereafter in various other topics later on, like physics, geology, and so on
it required a fair amount of concentration and intensive thought
but the article says they’ll “implement African American sensibilities to analyze chemistry”
note: not to DO chemistry
I don’t know what “analyze” means in that context but it doesn’t sound exactly like “compute the correct answer”
Learning how to balance the dimensions is IMHO … basic … essential … learning.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Hey Everyone, was hoping this was the right place to put in a prayer request and a lot of you are a lot better prayers than I am, so I could use some headed our way. My husband has just been diagnosed with major peripheral arterial disease as well as diabetes. He also suffers from very major and chronic psoriatic arthritis and likely rheumatoid arthritis causing his feet and hands to begin getting deformed. He had a stent put in his left femoral artery and they tried ballooning the 3 lowers but they didn’t really seem to take. He developed an infection in his left baby toe and it basically died and became black and gangrenous. It is being removed tomorrow and hopefully, he will be sent home with a booth and start recovering. He is only 61 (turning 62 on the 20th – Inauguration Day.) He could use all the prayers he could get. His name is John. Thanks!
