I prefer “very simple thermostats.” Especially this time of year. “Smart” and “Wifi” do not impress me.

Retired Magistrate here: Agree, go old school with everything. We have an old White Rogers thermostat for our fuel oil furnace and it works fine. You set the temperature by hand. We have an old Kenmore Refrigerator and an older GE Refrigerator in the basement. They don’t tell you the time, have a tv set or beep at you for anything; they just keep things cold.
Our washer has an agitator and doesn’t “think”; it just washes clothes and does a good job. Same for the old Kenmore Dryer. Our stove is “new” 14 years old and doesn’t do anything other than cook. It does have a clock.
So, keep it simple and private.
I like to say:
My doorbell goes ding dong.
My thermostat goes hot/cold, up/down.
My home security system will take a bite out of someone’s @ss.

I just opted for a standard thermostat. If you want to see what hackers do all day to mess with people’s Wi-Fi go to deepfakes.com. They can look in on baby monitors, nest cams, cell phones, FB, even through your Smart TV’s etc., etc. I cover my computer, cell phone cameras with black electrical tape.

So, fun anecdote from the weekend. We were out of town and the temps hit -10F. I got back this morning and my smart/Nest thermostat had decided “of its own accord” to put itself in Eco mode. The house was 55 degrees. It was -12F outside.
I’ve always been suspicious of this thing, and the builder installed it with the house. I’ve since read MANY reports of people saying the thermostat put itself in Eco mode without their permission.
I’ll most likely remove it. What pissed me off if we keep the house at 68F most of the time. And the thing just shut down my heat.
You couldn’t pay me to use a smart anything. (it’s all about CONTROL).

Election officials in Virginia’s Prince William County have acknowledged roughly 4,000 votes were misreported in former President Trump’s favor during the 2020 presidential election, when President Joe Biden went on to win the state.
A release from the county’s Office of Elections announced Trump incorrectly received 2,327 extra votes, while Biden was shorted 1,648 votes.
The U.S. Senate candidates for the state in both parties received too few votes, and a Republican House candidate who won his race was shorted just less than 300 votes.
“The reporting errors were presumably a consequence of the results tapes not being programmed to a format that was compatible with state reporting requirements. Attempts to correct this issue appear to have created errors,” said Eric Olsen, director of elections for the county.

Non-U.S. citizens will be prohibited from participating in American political life, including protests and demonstrations and any public expression of political opinion. Foreigners may not own American land within 60 miles of a national land border or within 30 miles of the coastal border. To serve in the military, one must be American by birth. This also holds for captains, pilots, engineers, and mechanics.

Another positive read from last night are Trump wins in Story, Dallas, and Polk Counties in the Des Moines area.
Those are full of suburban moderate voters who picked Rubio in a blowout in 2016.
Trump leads in practically every GOP voting demographic, almost had a majority in very tough Scott County, and would have won Johnson County if not for active recruitment of Democrat votes by the Haley camp.
