Our Caroline was away until midday today, until I, in my bossiest, not understated manner “encouraged” her to consider cutting her relaxing weekend short. I play that game here in the mountains too, luckily I travel the same road and can “sense” where I am, but sometimes headlight appear directly ahead of me, then I try to get as far right as I safely can and hope they also move to the right as well.

Biography: Edmund Halleys’ reputation mainly rests on his discovery of the orbit of Halley’s Comet, named after him but he was widely involved in a number of scientific endeavors.

The so-called cultural revolution of the 60 was a psychological operation, nothing organic about it (not saying a lot of young naive people were not all in). It’s amusing to go back and look at old TV shows that were featuring “hippies”. There are some good segments featuring the Hell Angels, one with Geraldo Rivera. In retrospect it is obvious. Great scene from Network 1976, the revolutionaries are negotiating a TV deal and residual broadcast rights with the Network. Could not find it but enjoy the “world is a corporation ” scene.

First: Another tune that I blasted from my little transistor radio in 1966 in my grandmother’s garage. My Little Red Book by Love. I totally forgot that was a Love song … actually something of an anti-love song. I totally loved the percussive guitar beat and the huge growling vocal of that tune. Wow! That was a Love song
And one of my all time favorite Doors song … because it sounds so real-life … describing Laurel Canyon as Love street. Imagine that … a song by Love … and then a song about Love Street. How symmetrical. 😜 … and the song is just so lilting and sweet … it really paints a picture of the era of Love … that all we Boomers were just discovering.
More early psychedelica … this time perhaps the absolute greatest psychedelic lead guitar EVER … yes … EVER!! By none other than the great Jeff Beck … playing on his knees. Starts at 1:35 I don’t believe I’m out of line in saying this lead riff created a lasting template for psychedelic guitar

I heard that it gets so cold there, that the gasoline can turn to jelly; and they have to keep a heating type wire connected to the dip stick. Or maybe that was Alaska . . . but I think it was Montana.

I read up on gasoline gelling because though I have lived for days at a time in sub-zero temps I had never had an experience with it happening. It’s not the gasoline that gels, it’s the additives.’
Well as I recall, it was either Montana or Alaska; and the temps were 100 below (wind chill I imagine), and the old lady definitely said that the gas in her truck turned to jelly if she didn’t hook up a heater through the dip stick. I don’t know, but I didn’t get the impression she was trying to brag to a bunch of Californians how tough it was there, and making up stories. She’s the one that also told us about people that went into the ditch during a blizzard, and they didn’t find them till spring. Quite a horrifying thing to think about going through, freezing to death in your vehicle in a ditch in the middle of nowhere!

I got to go to Alaska once, in summer 1984. We went to a little place called Chicken: I dunno, maybe 4o or so miles from Yukon? They got the name Chicken, because the prospectors who founded it didn’t know how to spell Ptarmigan. 🙂
We were there in July. Although the sun was dipping below the horizon by then, it never got dark. We wanted to see where the permafrost started; so we tried to jab a crowbar into the ground. We only got about two feet down, and then ice. They told us that its two thousand feet deep where they’re at. Since there was no utilities of any kind, we had to bathe in the Mosquito Fork! It takes about half an hour just to make it up to the knees: you can’t believe the pain in your bones, it was so cold!

A few years ago driving the big truck I took a load to Seward, NE. Blizzard conditions on I-80 in Eastern IA. Night time.
I saw at least 100 vehicle’s abandoned in the median including an ambulance and state police car.
Then on the CB I heard the west bound was blocked by a jacked big truck. Pulled off and parked for a couple hours in the lot of a closed business. Then drove on.
That was back in the days of paper log books.

Job 2:1-10 “Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. And the LORD said to Satan, From where [do] you come? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. And the LORD said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God, and eschews evil, although you moved Me against him, to destroy him without cause? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, indeed, all that a man has will he give for his life. But put forth Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse You to Your face. And the LORD said to Satan, Behold, he is in your hand; but save his life. So went Satan forth from the Presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself therewith; and he sat down in the ashes. Then his wife said to him, Do you still retain your integrity? curse God, and die. But he said to her, You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. What? Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.”
It is really quite horrifying and grievous beyond words, how easy so many so-called Christians, think its their place, and are completely without fear, to speak against the LORD over what happened here. It shows a tremendous arrogance and daring, to open their mouths in blasphemy against the LORD. What are they thinking who they are, to judge God? But next to the fact that they are utterly of the world and in the flesh, and okay to voice the thoughts of the devil against the LORD; they are venturing into things they know absolutely NOTHING about. Yes indeed, Job said it well, “You speak as one of the FOOLISH WOMEN speak!”
And if we pay close attention to exactly what happened, and what was said, and by whom; these mouths, whether they be silly women without fear of blaspheming God; or “cool” contemporary pastors and preachers; they are opening their mouths precisely for the devil, in exactly the very thing which he slandered Job to the LORD. For the devil falsely accused Job of being a good and pious man, only for the blessings and protection; and if God would do evil to him, he would spring and bite back like a snake (like Satan himself), and curse God to His face. So then these simpletons and destitute of the Holy Spirit in their own hearts, do exactly what he wanted Job to do! Its really remarkable, how without discernment so many who truly think of themselves as Christians are. And not a tinge of conscience or fear of God!
So what happened here? For it must be of supreme importance, as this Book of Job was one of the earliest Books of the Bible written; and therefore made by God, as a major part of the foundation of the faith of Christ.
This is a man which the LORD knew and respected, and gloried in, even to Satan himself: there was NONE like Job in all the earth! By a course in life dedicated to the fear of God, being perfect and upright before God and man, and avoiding evil: Job’s whole purpose and manner of life was defined by integrity. His supreme love for the LORD was manifested in his love for his neighbor as himself. Job could not have, and then turn a blind eye to the poor and needy. He counted nothing of all that he possessed as his own; but liberally distributed to whoever had need. No one went hungry or thirsty, or naked, or sick, or a stranger away from home; without Job taking their burdens for his own, and furnishing the necessary human comforts.
The next thing which is clear; is that of all the rest of the people in the earth, Job was the source of Satan’s irritation and distraction. While he wandered up and down through the world, filling the minds of men with his antichrist and heathen thinking, deceiving nations, and keeping them in the cruelest bondage to every unimaginable abomination; he could not get to this Job! And that was the whole reason for his foul accusations and slanders; because he cannot think past his own lies and perversions. Satan’s way of thinking works so easy in men everywhere; and so he knows what selfish and small characters they have, and that they will turn traitor in a second, when their pride and reputation and possessions are threatened. Surely, Satan thought, Job could not possibly be anything different from any other man, when pushed hard enough.
But since Satan has no truth in him; he has no way of dealing with anyone who is of the truth. And since he is an eternal and avowed enemy of the Spirit of God; the devil cannot know or understand or believe in, any real integrity, or how the man of God will sacrifice and give up all to maintain a good conscience, and unfeigned faith, out of a pure heart. And so this was written all over him, so to speak, when he came slinking in among the sons of God presenting themselves before the LORD. The LORD knew what was up before He questioned him.
Now as we pointed out first off; the entire purpose of Satan having instigated this trial for Job; was for bringing out what men really have in their hearts: and that how shocking it is, that even among very many professing Christians; there proves to be such a void in their conscience, where the fear of God should be. For they do exactly as the devil says man’s nature is: and just like the devil, cannot comprehend the things of the Spirit of God, and what integrity really means with respect to G0d.
Another part of this, which is a huge stumbling block, sadly and to disastrous ends, among many Christians today; is how God is in fact the one who gives the command and the allowance, and the specific instructions and restrictions, and owns to the actions as His own. God is in control, and He has His servants to do the good and the evil; but He is the doer of it, is what He says. To those who have no way to understand the eternal power and divinity of God; this is an absolute scandal and stumbling block. Similar to how many of the disciples went back, and no more followed Jesus, when He said, that unless you eat My flesh, and drink My blood, you have no life in you. The words of Spirit and Truth are too hard for most to hear; and they are offended, and fall away.
But next to all that the devil and fleshy worldly men think; what God knew about His trusted friend Job; Job proved without flinching. It was “natural” for him to respond to his sufferings, just exactly as he did; and the LORD knew that about him: and knew that He could trust Job for this very important example to be set for all generations of men to look to, and learn. God is only able to teach men altogether, the very hardest and most important lessons, about who and what we are, and salvation; through those whom He can trust, who are proven, like Job.
In all this did not Job sin with his lips: he was not what the devil says all men are! This is the instruction to us; that we are not as the rest of men, just because the devil does his worst to us: we can prove to be trustworthy under every circumstance, good and evil; if we take the narrow way of walking in the fear of God, being perfect and upright in our heart, and avoiding evil; even when the whole rest of the world has no idea but to do otherwise.
Not being like the rest of men, was not an idea that Job had about himself, as did the Pharisee; but that which was God’s testimony of him. And even at the end of it all; when his friends were convinced, that he had justified himself rather than God; it was God Himself that vindicated Job for his honesty and good character, even while he didn’t understand why he was being so terribly tried; he honored God, unlike his friends, who only had slander and suspicion and false accusations in their heart.
And finally, what really came out of these very wrong things done to Job? Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshiped, and said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return to that place: the LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the Name of the LORD. He took him a potsherd to scrape himself therewith; and he sat down in the ashes; and reproved his wife’s yielding to bad thoughts against God’s goodness, and her undervaluing his integrity next to the sufferings it cost him. “What? Oh Lord, thank you for granting me another day to stand up against the tyranny in the world today, blessing me with the will, strength and fortitude to continue walking, digging and fighting all over this once blessed United States of America. Please continue to help me carry this rucksack and weapon by walking beside me and lending your loving hand apon this yoke I proudly wear. Please bless me with a full ammo pouch and full canteen, one for the enemy around me the other for the enemy above, so that I may prevail against one and endure the other. Please bless me with the light of the moon and stars when I need them and clouds and rain when I desire cover from my enemies eyes. God did not address the call to Isaiah; Isaiah overheard God saying, “Who will go for us?” The call of God is not for the special few, it is for everyone. Whether or not I hear God’s call depends upon the state of my ears; and what I hear depends upon my disposition. “Many are called but few are chosen,” that is, few prove themselves the chosen ones. The chosen ones are those who have come into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ whereby their disposition has been altered and their ears unstopped, and they hear the still small voice questioning all the time, “Who will go for us?” It is not a question of God singling out a man and saying, “Now, YOU go.” God did not lay a strong compulsion on Isaiah; Isaiah was in the presence of God and he overheard the call and realized that there was nothing else for him but to say, in conscious freedom, “Here am I, send me.” Get out of your mind the idea of expecting God to come with compulsions and pleadings. When our Lord called His disciples there was no irresistible compulsion from outside. The quiet passionate insistence of His “Follow Me” was spoken to men with every power wide awake. If we let the Spirit of God bring us face to face with God, we too shall hear something akin of what Isaiah heard, the still small voice of God; and in perfect freedom will say, “Here am I; send me.”

I quoted it in a comment the other night with reference to Ben Carson, on whose shoulder I think God’s hand has been all his life. A Bless-ed Sunday, duchess 😘🕊 I checked in here an hour or so ago and was shocked to see the numbers of us who have shown up already!! And suddenly I had a vision of us all tucked away in the Welsh small old world wine bar (paneled, wood planked floor, roaring fire, tables and cubby holes) we used to frequent…the air buzzing with congenial voices in conversation and laughter…doors shut against the cold, alas now no more. But the memory!! 😌
There is so much camaraderie here. And while I am always grateful for it, for some reason this morning, my gratitude in God’s grace that He has seen fit to gather us together is overwhelming. So for this blessing, the gift of friends, and for so, so many others I say thank you, Lord, for your lovingkindness neverending🙏🏻🕊

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

realtor dot com listings also has ‘street view’ within each home’s listing. Great way to see the potential nborhood, cuz you can arrow thru the streets and get an idea of the caliber of the hood/nbors.

The Male Bluebird showed his mate my hanging Bluebird box this morning. A very early sign of Spring, and motivation for me to finally rake up my yard so I don’t disturb them when they start nesting in March.
Oh gosh I have an identical box like that and a pair of bluebirds that utilize it every spring ! I have wondered if I should put a little perch of some kind near the opening to facilitate easy in and out- they seem to have a bit of struggle getting in and out sometimes…

This is a famous prayer for the IDF. The Cantor who leads the singing was a combat solider in the IDF long ago he is with a band from the US and kids from South Africa. More interesting is the man who is reading the biblical prayer in the middle is Benny Gantz.
He is a main small war Cabinet member. Was in the past an IDF Chief of Staff and was also in the opposition and Joined the Government just for the war.
He is leading all the polls right now over Netanyahu. A man of honor. I am not sure about his present positions about the future so I can’t say if I agree or not. In the past I didn’t agree. It’s nice that he find the time to pray, he is not religious.
He was also in the Western Wall recently. He made a statement yesterday that “if we stop the war now Hamas will rise again” and he said “we are making good progress”. He may be the next President of Israel.
He passed the leader of the opposition in popularity too. I like his personality. He also joined the government when Corona started and it was suicidal politically to join but he thought the nation needs him at a rough spot.
