A quick stop today, my friends….
Last night I got a text late, late from my first born which started with ,”Jack and Sarah Grace are uninjured…”
My grandson had picked up his sister from volleyball practice and was turning left off a major road when a drunk driver plowed through a red light and hit them. I’ve seen the photos of both cars. The drunk driver’s car is accordioned. Jack’s ancient Toyota Forerunner is likely finished.
My daughter said the police and emergency services were there quickly. The winds last night were ferocious and cold; but two witnesses to the accident stayed…God love them for that💕 DD arrested. Grands safe and unharmed. Jack’s treasured, well cared for car can be replaced. But he and his sister could not be…
I have been on my knees and given thanks to our Father above for his mercy in sparing two of my precious grandchildren from what could have been infinitely more terrible. Thank you from my heart, dearest Lord. Just writing this makes me tearful. He will no doubt recognize those tears as an offering of eternal gratitude I pray…

One of the many things we both have told the lads is that green does not mean go. That they must look well beyond the light. I haven’t talked to Jack yet, but rest assured, that oft repeated lesson will be repeated. They say experience is the best teacher…and it is. I am so grateful that the cost of this one wasn’t the highest that could be paid 🙏🏻💕
It is called clearing intersections in professional driver terminology. Before you reach the intersection you look left, right, left and oncoming to ensure no moving vehicles will enter the intersection just before or while you are in it.
The Smith Safety system is available online for e learning and while a lot of it is directed at professional drivers and industry safety there are sections for small vehicle safety.
The 5 keys:
Aim high in steering
Get the Big Picture
Keep your eyes moving
Leave yourself an out
Make sure they see you
The greatest errors are following too close, traveling in clusters of other vehicles and distracted or impaired driving.
Other common mistakes are getting emotional when driving or in too great a hurry for your travel time.
If you have ever ridden with or observed a professional driver they are always smooth as glass with no abrupt changes in direction. You can work through traffic with less effort if you’re looking well ahead and watching other drivers. If you are always in the middle of a group of vehicles then you have no way out if something happens even if you see it coming. Sometimes braking is not your best option but dodging is.

You’re looking 15 seconds of your travel time ahead in your path minimum. More than a block ahead in the city. Several hundred yards ahead on the highway.
Lot’s of novice drivers focus on the car or vehicle in front of them. You go where you’re looking. The worst case scenario would be directly behind and close to a semi truck where you can see absolutely nothing ahead.
You also never stare, you’re checking your mirrors and also looking for anything that could possibly come into your path like wildlife from the roadsides, pedestrians, blowing debris and so on.
Always look for spaces instead of bumpers when you’re looking ahead, that’s where you want to go.
When it’s raining or foggy or at night make sure you run your lights and don’t be afraid to use your horn to warn pedestrians along the roadsides (but not sidewalks unless it looks like they may step out in front of you.) Use your four way blinkers to warn other drivers of hazards ahead.
Finally NEVER stop on the side of the highway especially interstate unless its a dire emergency. Never back up on an off ramp, wait and take the next ramp.
Some hazards can be avoided such as you see a downpour ahead and you’re not comfortable with it then tke the next exit or a side road off the high speed highways. Running too slowly with your four way blinkers on
in low visibility is asking to be rear ended.

Bless, Della. Late night anythings…texts or phone calls…make my heart jump a little. I texted all three with praises to God. I also said to Jack that even when driving responsibly events not in his control could happen. As they did last night. Chris, who taught them, has always said to those others as well whom he has taught that he could teach them how to pass their tests but that they would learn to drive afterwards. So true. Turning those we love over to God’s care when they reach a certain age is possibly one of the most difficult things we do. Letting go of our control and delivering them into His protection is a mark of faith. He was merciful. Thank you for your prayers, Della 😘

Thank you, much loved brother 😘 Caroline posted on FB to deliver her gratitude to the police and others who stopped. The responses from her uncountable numbers of friends included one from a woman who, upon verifying the location of the busy major intersection, told her that she had seen the accident. It was dark and so she was unaware it was Jack and Sarah Grace; but she immediately pulled over from a few cars back and put her hazards on as did others, then stayed put until the police arrived.
Add one more blessing…we live in a community of good people who will always stop to lend a hand in an emergency. So many blessings to count 🙏🏻

Sorry your son’s Toyota is a total (sure sounds like it). His was not just “another old car” not at all. Those of us who like old cars know that cars like his are, in fact, treasures. It’ll be hard, but I hope he finds a good replacement.

My own dad always said to look after one’s vehicle, and I passed that on to Jack who babied that car. He was meticulous about keeping it pristine. And it was a reliable, no problem, well built car. People who own them hang onto them forever. However much insurance compensates for it it won’t be much…nor will they be able $$$-wise to replace the quality. Something that takes a backseat to the huge blessing of having escaped what could have been a real loss. Deo gratias🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
And yes…there was a calm last night as we processed everything. I know where that came from. It was only this morning that I was able to think more clearly as to what might have been. We are still feeling the bless-ed Presence of our Father who was merciful🕊

IMO, there’s nothing wrong with making political posts when you can see and clearly illustrate the applicable Bible Doctrine that applies to the situation. In fact (IMHO) that can usually provide some measure of hope, or temper our natural frustration with a reminder of faith in Him who always is at our side.

Thank you, jb. I post this sonnet with my 7 year old, feral granddaughter in mind. Though she is devoid of social grace and her only love language is gifts/things, we love her beyond the 10 pm temper tantrums, the stealing and hoarding, the lying, the “I hate you,” and the cold fact that she can not be trusted alone with other children. She is incapable of altering our love for her, cause if she were, that would not be love.
A story to illustrate: last summer we rented a beach house big enough for our growing, three generation family. Martha’s sister did the same with her family , and of course we got the familys together for evening meals. Doodle, our grandaughter, six at the time, took a cousin upstairs to play, he was almost five. She told him that the bathrooms were not working and the we used her parents luggage for urinating, which they did, together. Later the cousin asked his parents if such a solution was reasonable.
And yet, whenever we get together she brings us a childhood treasure, which we are expected to return at the end of our visit.

Biography: Stevens, known as patient CAL-1, was the unwitting subject of an unethical human radiation experiment conducted by Dr. Joseph Gilbert Hamilton in America as part of the Manhattan Project in May 1945. He is famous for surviving the highest known accumulated radiation dose anyone has ever received.
Stevens was selected for the experiment because it was thought that he had stomach cancer. However, four days after being injected with the plutonium isotopes, without his knowledge or informed consent, it was discovered that he only had a stomach ulcer.
Stevens was injected with 131 kBq (3.55 µCi) of plutonium. The plutonium, although undergoing radioactive decay, remained in his body for the remainder of his life.
Over the remaining 20 years of his life, he accumulated an effective radiation dose of 6400 rem. The current annual permitted dose for a radiation worker in the United States is 5 rem. Steven’s annual dose was approximately 60 times this amount.

1/9/2024 – You however are they who have continued with Me in My temptations
Luke 22:24-30 “And there was also a strife among them, this, which of them is thought to be [the] greater. And He said to them, The kings of the nations rule over them, and those exercising authority over them are called well-doers: but you not so; but the greater among you let him be as the younger; and he that leads as he that serves. For which is greater, he that reclines [at table] or he that serves? [Is] not he that reclines [at table]? But I am in your midst as he that serves. You however are they who have continued with Me in My temptations; and I appoint to you, as My Father appointed Me, a kingdom, that you may eat and may drink at My table in My kingdom, and may sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
To put it into a short summary, because of the seriousness of what the Lord was talking about; and that He said, that one of the twelve who sat with Him at the table, was about to betray Him; their natural inclinations were to examine their own hearts, and prove their loyalty, and the sincerity of their love and devotion to Jesus. How it then seemed to deviate off into a contentious dispute, about who should be thought the greater of them; is the deeper substance of the Lord’s answer and teaching here.
The disciples felt, that their honesty and loyalty was called in question, by the Lord’s revelation that one of them was a traitor. This immediately sparked in their hearts, a grievous and searching self-examination, in each and every one, except of course, the very man of whom the Lord was speaking; who himself already had decided to have no place for truth or repentance, neither regarding himself, or the Lord. The Lord therefore out of this, (the disciples’ reactions, and then their line of thinking;) touches firmly upon what we all absolutely must know, of what are the very rudiments of our faith; alongside the alienated and estranged from God thinking of the world, and all their idea about what is the meaning of power and authority and having dominion.
This should be a longer and deeper study, into the roots of the world’s “natural inclination” of heathen and anti Christ, beginning with Nimrod and Babel; and of what hedge was broken, so that the serpent bit so hard and viciously, and poisoned the most of mankind’s minds against God. But for the purposes of this lesson, and to rather keep it simple, and on topic; we use this only as a basic reference point.
Let us put ourselves at the table with Jesus and His disciples. They sit down to start the Passover Dinner, and the Lord says to them, that “With desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you, before I suffer. For I say to you, I will not any more eat of thereof until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” As they are finishing up the meal, He takes a cup of wine, and gives thanks, and passes it around the table for the disciples to drink after Him, saying, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves; for I say to you, I will not henceforth drink of this fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God has come.” Then He takes bread and breaks it, and hands it to His disciples, “This is My body, which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” And likewise the cup, after they had eaten, saying, “This is My blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” I can imagine, that the disciples sensing a strange atmosphere in the room, hearing Jesus say all these things; and an uncertainty and sadness beginning to move over their hearts, wondering about what Jesus is exactly saying.
Then He begins to get very heavy, and troubled in His soul, and lowers His voice almost to a sigh of grief; “Verily, verily I say to you, that one of you who sits here with me at the table, is about to betray Me. The Son of man indeed goes, as it has been written of Him; but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed; it were better for him never to have been born.”
The disciples are stunned and horrified, and grief almost overwhelms them; and they begin, one by one, asking Jesus, “Lord, is it I? Lord, is it I? . . .” Peter looks at John resting on Jesus’ bosom, and beckons to him, to ask the Lord who it is. So John asks, and Jesus says to him quietly, “He it is, who when he has put his hand with Me in the dish, and I give him the sop.” Just then, Judas Iscariot reaches his hand toward the meat platter, the very moment the Lord did; and Jesus takes the best juiciest end piece, and puts it in Judas’ mouth; and at that instant, Satan entered into his heart; and Jesus said to him, “What you do, do quickly.” And Judas went out into the night.
Meanwhile, the other disciples who had been greatly troubled by what Jesus had just said to them, had gone in a very short time, from being grieved and searching their own hearts, if they were that man; to a contentious discussion, and sizing one another up, which of them should be thought the greater. At first seeing this, we are a little shocked and dismayed; how short their attention span was, or how dull they really were, to recognize the gravity of what is about to happen that night. But lets think of it in a little different light; and maybe we can understand their thinking process, that they were still very much troubled and saddened, but didn’t know better how to deal with it.
All the answer we need, for understanding the disciples, and that too, our own way of thinking; is to pay very close attention to the Lord’s answer, and how He explained to them where their thinking about it was off track. Listen carefully to exactly what Jesus then said to them; for He is speaking to their hearts, directly at the source of their disputing with each other.

To the disciples’ thinking, and what they deeply and truly believed in their heart, was that Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ, the Anointed, the Son of the living God, the Savior of the world, and the King of Israel. To their minds, as yet, they could only perceive the things of the kingdom, and their King, only as far as they perceived life altogether; which was only this present world. So it was in a sense, natural for them to think in terms as they understood the world. Even though the Lord had spent the greater part of His teachings, in many ways describing and using familiar illustrations to help them understand; that He is not of this world, and so we also, in Him, are not of this world; but He has called us, and chosen us from out of the world, for His fellowship in God, and the kingdom to come.
Jesus’ kingdom, and so ours also, is not of this world. We with Jesus are of another Spirit and purpose and nature, which we have given us of God. How many, and in so many different ways, the Lord focused all His teaching on this point! And this doctrine was not revolutionary, or some new thing newly come up: this has been the faith of God’s elect since Abel. And all through the great tribulations of history, God’s people have understood this, and have known that the LORD has severed His people form other people, that we should be His. David was mightily filled with the Spirit form the day that Samuel anointed him; and he was moved by the Spirit to write in the very first Psalm, all about that separation between the righteous and the ungodly. And all through the Psalms, David through the Spirit, studied and analyzed and judged and prophesied; teaching about the experience of Christ’s experience in the world, and so also, ours through the Spirit presiding in us.
In simplest terms, all that is of the world, and worldly-minded, is only all for self, and covetousness and envy, and pride and vanity, and nothing at all in tune with God and His eternal purposes. Natural man wants to discover himself, and do himself well. God, who actually in fact, really is the Supreme Greatness, and has all Authority and Power and Glory; does not care for it; but He cares for the poor and needy, the widows and orphans and the strangers, the sick and in prison, the afflicted and oppressed and victims of cruelty and the defenseless. And while the worldly are wasting away their precious little time on chasing dreams for self; God is searching for those who will have a heart for His cares, and the real needs of a world that is perishing without knowledge.
Jesus makes it clear to the disciples, that God already has their kingdom and dominion in the world to come; and that like Himself, they should not care about that; but to be about the Father’s business. We have seen and heard it before; and truly in no one more than Jesus; that true greatness does not have any difficulty with taking the role of the servant. True greatness is not threatened by having compassion on those who are in trouble and can’t help themselves; and does not lose greatness by humbling itself in love, and to do what is right. The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. When Jesus beseeches us to pray, that the Lord of the harvest would send forth workers into His harvest; we have to conclude that He is calling us to share in the work with Him, and be a people after His own heart. True greatness is how God measures it. And He has said already, that we who continue with Him in His temptations, shall all be great, and appointed of the Father a kingdom and dominion.

On those maps the anomaly is the amount of departure from the climatological average.
The climatological average is the average of all data since reliable records began at a particular place.
A little more:
Anomaly correlation coefficient (ACC).
ACC is the most commonly used way to judge the accuracy of a forecast.
It is the correlation between the forecasted anomaly and the observed anomaly.
The closer the correlation, the better the forecast is judged to be.
Concerning time of model runs. It is given in Z (Zulu) time.
Those with military operational experience know what that is and why it is used.
Z time is also known as Coordinated Universal Time or Greenwich Mean Time.
The reason Zulu Time is used for models is that the information is being shared worldwide across all time zones.
In the military it is also used to coordinate operations over multiple time zones.

I have been posting from my phone. My brand new supercomputer was hacked, my virus/malware protection turned off, and a nasty virus installed.
No remedy from online sources because the virus would bump me off the internet before the antivirus program could run.
My nephew has the box and will clean my hard drive up offline.
I can get a very sharp tongue sometimes with morons and I guess I really pissed one off.
To add to the difficulties I had to get a new modem and haven’t quite got it tuned in yet.
I have my suspicions of who caused my problems and what blog board. Not anyone here of course.
I will have VPN and enhanced virus protection when I get online again with my new computer.

I stopped using Windows computers when that happened the first time to me. I had every defense operating but the bastards still got inside and started sending out spam emails from my email account. I only found out when Comcast shut down my email account and I had to call them.
THEM: “You’re sending out thousands of emails per hour, we shut you down because that VIOLATES the agreement.”
ME:”No that cannot be right. I only send out 2 or 3 emails per day.”
THEM:”Well, we have the records and thousands came from your IP and your account. Your pc has been infected by a spammer virus and turned into a bot. They remotely control your email output. You cannot see this because you can still use your browser and other software without issue.”
Whoa. I turned off the unit and immediately called an Apple outlet and bought an Apple MacBook Pro laptop over the phone and never looked back. That was in 2009. Still have not had one problem since then and am on my second Apple laptop. Never had to buy antivirus software because the Apple OS has it built in.
GB Bari: The “Mcafee virus” scammers tried to get me the other day on my PC at home (we also have Macs). I turned off Windows Notifications…problem solved. Windows has always been a virus magnet. My Macs have never had problems viruses, knock on wood (well, plastic).
I regularly get junk emails allegedly from McAfee that say my A/V software needs updating. Of course I always check the “From” email address to see if it even looks legitimate (it never does on these), but worse, I don’t even use any third party A/V software. The macOS has it built-in along with a firewall.
And for those who might be interested, macOS is a UNIX 03-compliant operating system certified by The Open Group. That makes it a relatively robust & secure operating system.

Looks like we are going to get another tail of the cold sweeping in on Thursday also forecast for -6.
The old S-10 truck barely turned over a few minutes ago, so I could move it to a plowed area so I can clean up where it was parked (buried in snow) tomorrow.
Lived in an all electric house in central IN the last time something like this swept in for a week or so….. power went out pipes were freezing up and water softer in the garage did, was running the gas grill in garage to try to keep from freezing solid & was successful as nothing burst.
Power finally came on, then I went to work once the heat kicked off, was only about 4 hours late… LOL.
One reason I don’t make New Year’s resolutions:
Hubs just made biscuits, sausage, lots of coffee …
Not a big biscuit fan – but these are hard to resist!

Breakfast is my favourite time of the day. Saturday morning when we are at the farm up north and the wood stove is roaring, breakfast and coffee can last all morning.
Fellowship at the breakfast table is another way that we fight back. In fact every meal around a table where thanks is given to God before eating is a sure fire way to push back against a demonic culture.

Few people notice “cast iron” cookware, bypassing it for “designer” stuff.
Hubs has quite a collection of cast iron and it’s some of his prized possessions.
Most of it passed down from our parents and grandparents.

Cornbread sticks are very good. We do corn pone once in a great while, (so much grease in those).
I always just wipe out cast iron. Once in awhile I have to use steaming water, no soap and a brush if someone else uses the skillets. Your hubby is absolutely right.
Since it’s such a dreary day it’s gumbo day. Time to make huge batch and can some. Thinking 1 batch chicken,ham and sausage and 1 batch adding some fish and shrimp that’s been frozen a good while. Have plenty of cajun sausage which used to be unknown locally.

Hi slow – it’s just a round skillet, a smaller version of large fry pan.
Hubs uses that skillet for CB only – never for anything else.
Claims it keeps CB from sticking.
Small pan makes enough for us two – me: 1 piece, him: 4 pieces 😂
Can probably pick up iron skillet at hardware store, Cabelas, yard sale, flea market, etc.
Just season it before using.

I love the old spiritual leaders. I get the Christianbooks.com catalog but rarely buy anything from them as most of their content is filled with the ‘new’ charismatic, enlightened, progressive and whatever else you want to call them, movements. Give me teachings on those of old that God put through the steps of obedience and instruction BEFORE preaching to others.

This statement right here proves he knew his God and walked through those steps first before reaching out to help others. You can’t just read your Bible then turn around and tell everyone how to live for God according to your own interpretation. This is so huge that most miss this holy spiritual pivotal point.
I have been reading the autobiography of Jeanne Guyon (1648-1717) and oh how she changed my life by reading how God dealt with her and her complete submission to Him. Her Method of Prayer and Spiritual Torrents are just as powerful. If you can find this book, I highly recommend it! Have a Blessed day sis! 🙏✝

Hello friends, Yesterday I posted that Israel’s iconic and loved singer Idan Amedi got badly injured in an explosion in Gaza.
As a major celebrity he could have easily dismiss himself from this duty and serve as an entertainer but he choose to fight as a Reservist Combat Engineer. I mentioned that I love the man for his patriotism and kind personality. Yesterday he was in a state of sleep and with oxygen. I called for prayers. Today he woke up and his condition is no longer defined as “difficult” but as “moderate”. Thank you for the prayers and I will continue to pray for him and wish that he is not with a permanent disability. I will follow and let you know. Here is one of his songs.

Hi kenji, I’ve had this problem for one year now – on my Apple device. When it began last Jan I emailed Admin here for advice. Never received reply. The page refreshing trouble has only worsened. Have tried various attempts to correct, including changing browser from safari to Firefox to Brave. Nothing helped.
