I was just listening to a recording of the ‘Book of Revelation’ Narrated by Alexander Scourby (KJV)It is actually the whole Bible, new and old Testaments. I have read that book many many times. I love it, and would recommend it to everyone. IMHO His narration is excellent. His voice easy to listen to. At the end, when he says ‘Come! even so, Come Lord Jesus! I am always very moved as I think of all the millions who are saying with us, Come, Lord Jesus!

It has been awhile since we last watched Zoe Barnett’s splendid concert performance. While I still intend to focus my attention on discovering performers we’ve not watched before, I also think that it is entirely appropriate o revisit performers who are especially gifted. Zoe is, happily, one of those.
I think is important to always add a little “performance space” between postings that we’ve heard before. How much performance space should I give before re-posting a performer we’ve watched. My rule of thumb is to try to avoid reposing someone who is a bit to “recent”? This is where the idea of performance space comes in.
Before I re-posted Zoe’s concert I felt it had been suitable time since we’d last watched her performance. (I repeat performances posted too close together tends to make even great playing sound rather stale.) I hope you enjoy Zoe’s splendid repeat performance.

Speaking for myself only, it doesn’t matter to me how close you post various artists. I know they say variety is the spice of life, and with many things this is true…but if the music is lovely, I care not if we hear a talented guitarist multiple times with postings close together. The guitar is your instrument, and so you’ll be focusing on the different techniques, style, and the sounds of the oh so personal choices these gifted people play. At least I would guess that is part and parcel of your most welcome selections you give to us each day.
Whatever you decide to leave for us, I’ll take it!! And say thank you…as I do with another marvelous performance this morning. I am up earlier today, I have my tea, and I shall enjoy this very much. Carry on, dear friend 🤗💕

Good morning Bet! Just sitting in the car, waiting for Busy Lizzie at the appraisal office. They just jacked up my sister in law house taxes but haven’t been giving her senior and homestead exemptions. They are saying that they can go back two years and Elizabeth is trying to have them go back to 2011, when the house was finished. And they don’t apply the exemptions unless you request them. Funny business, the Texas property taxes. ❤️😘
Same in Indiana, M. Must apply for Homestead exemption upon property acquisition in Indiana too.
Just another taxation trap made to be as complicated as possible. Like hunting Easter eggs to find tax relief.

We are way out in the country. Only one trash company, got quite pricey. Then a lady started her own trash company, much better prices. The only catch is that since they use a big trailer all the trash has to be in bags, and the bags tied. And I have to remember to get the can outside the gate Tuesday night. 😁
Be so glad you’re not in Britain. They have to have different wheelie bins for different types of trash. I believe four bins per household is the average. And then the councils come around and go through your rubbish to make sure you haven’t put something in the wrong bin…fines if yours caught out. And if the lids aren’t shut, the bin lorries bypass you…and then more fines.

You sound like my youngest who taught science…I mean real science…in grades K-2. Lorrie, she poured her heart and soul into her class and the children who entered it. I’ve told this story before, but so successful was she that one mother told her her son woke up on morning shouting “It’s SCIENCE DAY!!”
I know over your years teaching you’ve received such wonderful feedback from current and past students who were fortunate enough to have you as a teacher. I wish all in your profession were just like you and my daughter, both who love their students as if they were their own.

I was fortunate to go to a small private school when I was small. I started kindergarten there and stayed till I was 9. The year my father died and my mother could no longer afford the fees. It was in Cheshire England.
It was run by a lady, I will call her ‘Mrs Bunting’ who was middle aged with a large swathe of greying hair twisted into a coil and piled on top of her head. She was ordinary looking and a little plump, and had a shadowy tall slim husband who flitted silently in and out of the rooms helping her in different ways.
She had a few like-minded young teachers helping her. I cannot remember their names, but I liked them all..
She was a gem. She cared so deeply for every child that was in her care. Her favorite remark, well one of them, was a sharp “there’s no such word as can’t! You can.. You can.. just try.”. There.. see.. I knew you could do it!
She was a wonderful teacher, making every subject link into others. The world was full of wonderful things to be discovered. The school was an old Victorian house. brick. set in a large garden full of ancient rhododendrons planted in a previous century.
Some lessons would end up in the garden, where Mrs B would show us all a butterfly chrysalis she had discovered in a secret place in an old twisted tree, and she would then tell us the miracle that was happening inside the beautiful little package, and how we must protect these wonders if we found them. Or she would point out a little Scarlet Pimpernel was blooming, or how a leaf that had been covered had lost it’s green color and why that was.
Sadly the little school is long gone. The building is still there, but is used now for some other purpose . It looks sad to me. She was the life in that building, she and the children fortunate enough to have been her pupils. God bless you, Mrs Bunting, where ever you are.

Your beautiful teacher taught the way my daughter did. Outside, and bringing the outside in, setting up aquariums with native lizards and such. She even was given a bearded dragon which her own children named “Toothless. Shed take him home on weekends and holidays because she didn’t want him to be alone. I have quite a few pictures of him resting under their. Hons, almost nose to nose and covered with a blanket. Amazing really…he and they were perfectly happy. Makes one wonder what we don’t know about the creatures Almighty God hath brought to life.
I am marinating in your memories…which all these years later I’m sure remain as fresh as when they were made. Yes…bless Mrs Bunting 🙏🏻 What a gift she was for you and all who learned so much from her. I know the feelings you get knowing that that school is gone. An ache for what was…or what the Welsh call ” hiraeth “.

He is. When they moved she made sure he went to a good home. The same with her hedgehog, Heidi, when she started teaching. Heidi she gave to a little girl who adored her and who has some physical disabilities.

Thought of you the other day at Costco. Enticed to purchasing myself a Christmas gift of whiskey infused coffee beans by Don Pablo. Irish Cream, Bourbon, and Kentucky Whiskey… all the flavor but none the alcohol.
I certainly don’t quite understand how that process works in curing and roasting the coffee beans, but one of my favorites from a local roaster is a Highlander Grogg from Sundae’s… an ice cream parlor that is owned by a pair of brothers… one of which is a chemist by trade. They offer both homemade ice creams and on location roasted coffee beans that are exceptional. We’ve moved away from their shop, so we don’t often go anymore… so when I saw the Don Pablo beans in Costco… thought I’d give it a go.
I’m on cup #2 of the KY Whiskey with vanilla bean creamer.
A beef pot roast is on the stove top on low cooked with the remainder of a Shiraz we opened for guests on Christmas and seasoned with bay leaves and herbs de provence. It takes me a couple weeks to finish a bottle of wine on my own… when I choose to open one. The wine is a nice rich substitute for water for beef bouillion.
If you get the chance to check out Costco… you’d really like the coffees, I bet.
Strangely too Costco here is celebrating the Year of the Dragon for the Chinese New Year. It was everywhere we turned while shopping. Christmas put away quite hastily.
Evening dear ‘Woo. Sorry I’ve been sort of invisible of late. Haven’t felt very good—lots of fatigue. P/T was a lot more difficult than usual. I actually find myself going to sleep in my chair. Most unusual. So, what this translates into is me going quiet.
I tend to be locked in on Bustelo— I tend to be a creature-of-havit so it remains a favorite for both me and Little ‘Tink who watches over me every morning.
I have discovered an interesting rye whisky. A friend recommended ‘Old Overholt‘ rye. Turns out to be a great late evening sippin’ whisky. Sippin’ is a ritual straight out of Faulkner—a few sips and I’m sitting around the hickory fire listening to the ‘coon dogs run in the woods . . . NOT!!!!. Be well, darlin’ . . . 🙂

A fascinating and beautiful woman . I remember reading about her invention before but had forgotten about it. I did some more reading abut her, she died aged 85 and asked that some of her ashes be sprinkled in the Vienna woods.

12/28/2023 – Not understanding the Cross of Christ, and striving over who is the greatest.
Luke 9:43-48 “And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, He said to his disciples, Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask Him of that saying. Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest. And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by Him, and said to them, Whosoever shall receive this child in My Name receives Me: and whosoever shall receive Me receives Him that sent Me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.”
Luke 22:21-30 “But, behold, the hand of him that betrays Me is with Me on the table. And truly the Son of man goes, as it was determined: but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed! And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest. And He said to them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors. But you shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that does serve. For which one is greater, he that sits at meat, or he that serves? These are not the only times when the discussion arose among the disciples, about Who Is The Greatest; but because of the similarity of the circumstances these two times, it is worth looking into. Of course, the things Jesus was talking about on both occasions, were the most dreadful and shocking to those who are only fixed upon the happy and exciting anticipation of the kingdom of God being about to appear. This talk about coming sufferings and cruelly being put to death; are taken by many, as defeat and failure, and the work of the devil opposing God’s people. This I believe is where very many contemporary Christians have been mistaught, or have deviated and missed the mark; largely because they do not know the Scriptures, and may not yet have the Holy Spirit to teach them.
In the minds of such, the doctrine of the cross is connected with cruelest persecution, with not resisting the evil, with abiding under subjection in faith, and having our heart’s affections proved to be sincere with God in heaven, and not in this present evil world. The cross signifies holding fast one’s integrity even unto death. Thus it becomes a terribly threatening light, exposing the cowardly indolence and indifference to the things of God; it exposes the worldliness and loving one’s life in this world, and all its impetuous nature to defend its pride and desires for evil things.
Everyone wants to be counted in the number of the Blessed, who inherit the kingdom of heaven, who are comforted, who shall be filled with righteousness, who inherit the earth, who shall find mercy, who shall see God, who shall be called the children of God, who want to be counted among the number of the prophets of God: but for some reason, there is a thick wall blocking their heart from in fact, that the only way to make it really so, it is necessary also being hated and opposed and contradicted, persecuted and lied about and separated from men’s company, for Jesus’ sake. (Matthew 5:3-16)
So we have to wonder, what is it, that the first and most natural response, to teaching about the cross, and the fact that there will be traitors from among us, of those who for a time were our trusted friends and brothers in the Lord; that causes many to freeze up and try to change the subject? Is it a defense mechanism; that makes one always have to turn to talking about happier things, like who will be the greatest in the coming kingdom? I really try to follow the possible trains of thought, and how it would go in that direction; first to search my own heart, and the innermost workings of my own spirit; in order to understand my ways, and then honestly set in order before God. If then The LORD should give me understanding and grace to overcome, I will have something that will be a big help to a brother or sister having to deal with the same things. I believe that the anointing which we have received from Him, which teaches us all things; is the same powerfully anointed through the words to others; when we truly speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen. Our fruit is from God, and produced by itself when we abide in Jesus.
There is always a reason why Jesus says everything He says. It must have been clear by now, that some of the most important, and most often explained in depth, with many examples and illustrations things, regarding the kingdom of heaven being at hand; but there is a conflict in their understanding, that becomes too much to bear. We know well the parts when Jesus talked about His not being of this world, and having called us out of the world; but connecting that with the fact that we are still in this world, leaves us with only two options for reconciling ourselves to this fact. The first way, which few find, is the way exactly taught and demonstrated by the Lord Jesus Christ.
The other way, is to rather fill the heart with hopes and guessings, of avoiding the chafing and rubbing against our earthly nature, and inventing another gospel and another Jesus, who rather gives us everything for free, and fully supports our worldly happiness and success. Many choose the broad way of the fantasy Christianity for that very reason; because it promises (falsely) a crown without the cross, and glory while having been all the time spared of adversity and suffering of wrongs. And suffering wrongs, for loving one another as Jesus has loved us; and for having the same humble child-like spirit, towards God, and one another.
John 18:36-37 “Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
Here are two examples of perhaps the most important aspect, of what is the purpose for God having His saints in the world. There continues to be the incessant preoccupation with a perceived need for greatness among Jesus’ followers. And they always manifest themselves right opposite the teaching of the cross of Christ, as set to oppose. When the disciples had come far enough along with the Lord to be able to learn the deeper truths of His mission of salvation for the world; Jesus began to tell them what things were necessary to happen to Him; of His being betrayed, and rejected of the rulers, of His being falsely condemned and handed over to the Gentiles to be crucified and killed, and of His rising again the third day. But the disciples’ hearts were clouded over with other notions that they liked better; and were under the influence of natural human thinking; so they were not capable to understand what He was talking about, and it was hidden from them.

The Spiritual Realm is so much more vast than the material superficial one we experience.
The Lord Is outraged for every child of God harmed and martyred for his or her faith.
We had a scenario yesterday that is teaching me a great lesson. Dear family of my dear friend who passed of cancer came to visit yesterday. The son, not a believer, a very worldly man committed a sinful act. Could be considered a small act… but sin is sin in God’s Eyes.
However, he also caused his sister to commit a sinful act… and we were witness to and present in the latter.
Today, I contacted the place in which this happened… one that we’ve had ties to for fifteen years… and I made atonement for each of those sins. I felt responsible for the latter, but the former was not mine. With my knowledge of it, however, I atoned, took responsibility for, and remedied both… then spoke of our love for God and His Miracles to the woman over the phone… she, too, a believer.
Why do I share this obscurity with you?
Because the lesson I am learning as we march forward through these days, is that each person is at their own level of maturity in belief and following of God. The weak of mind are easily coerced to participating in and committing their own sin.
Those of maturity and who walk with fear of the Lord hasten to submit, admit, and make atonement for sin… in our case even on behalf of others we love who do not feel the need or want to admit their sin. They may even feel they got away with it.
Now, the former sin was not mine… however, I have deep abiding love for their dead mother and I’m actively engaged in securing a position of fiduciary responsibility with their church… which I’m prayerful will come to pass. I will need my own family of God to support me in my days ahead with some difficult times I am preparing myself for. I will also need the prayer covering for my teen daughter, as she approaches her final year under my authority and she witnessed the sins yesterday… so it was imperative for me to make that situation whole again and give her the example of living honorably.
Our purity is our own responsibility.
Though the world and the prince of the air sin with abandon and at deadly cost… we are in the world but not OF the world.
You have done your part in sharing this terrible story of Nigeria and I, too, am reading of such horrific martyrdom. I mourn with you.
I walk confidently knowing that God is attentive in the victims’ final moments, as He meets them and ushers their way into Eternity.
When will it all be enough? I’m not sure… I wish I knew… for I am weary of the pain and tears and I’m insulted by the sins and lies, however God must have more He Wishes to reach to save them before His Final Word comes to pass.

These words of Our Lord are true of our initial conversion, but we have to be continuously converted all the days of our lives, continually to turn to God as children. If we trust to our wits instead of to God, we produce consequences for which God will hold us responsible. Our natural life must not rule, God must rule in us.
The hindrance in our spiritual life is that we will not be continually converted, there are wadges of obstinacy where our pride spits at the throne of God and says – I won’t. We deify independence and willfulness and call them by the wrong name. What God looks on as obstinate weakness, we call strength. There are whole tracts of our lives which have not yet been brought into subjection, and it can only be done by this continuous conversion. Slowly but surely we can claim the whole territory for the Spirit of God.

A rich, young ruler came to Jesus asking what he needed to do to have eternal life. He claimed he had kept all the commandments, but when Christ put him to the test and told him to sell all his possessions, give to the poor, and follow Him, the man sorrowfully went away for he had great possessions (Matthew 19:16-22). His departure showed that he had not fulfilled the first commandment… to love God above all else.
The disciples wondered aloud what it would take to be saved. They had given up all to follow Christ – possessions, family, occupation. Jesus explained that they would have a great reward, then told the parable of the master of the house who needed workers. He hired many throughout the day since there was a lot of work to be done. At the end of the day, he paid each of them the same wage. One who was hired among the first murmured, why would those who worked the shortest amount of time get the same pay as those who worked all day?
There is a common denominator among hired workers. They are all called by the master, and all work at the task before them for the time allotted to them. This is also true of your life in Christ. As a believer, you have been called by God for specific work for a specific time in His kingdom on Earth. God’s gift of eternal life will come to all believers.
Be faithful to the opportunities God gives you. Then pray especially for the leaders of this nation who believe in Christ as Savior, that they will be faithful in the tasks God has set before them.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Ha ha, Monti! Just talking to daughter about this today – no matter your age, you’ve always got something new to learn!
I was trying to teach her about the weight lifting machines at the gym and how to do incremental strengthening and lifting. Well, kiddo thought she could crunch 60 lbs out of the gate and well, let’s just say, she’s not invincible. LOL. She’ll get there – but not all at once.
Oh yeah. I once had a civil servant employee of the USAF tell me that he had learned all that he needed to know and didnt need to learn anything else. Sad that someone would take that sort of attitude about life or work.

I’ve started and stopped this message three times now. A little reticent in posting.
I’m not ready for the holidays or this vacation to be over.
We’ve been so blessed with visits from loved ones and I’m always so sorry to see them leave. Hurts my heart for them to be so far away and visits so few and far between.
Still in my Tractor Supply $12 pajamas which are the comfiest I have ever owned. May have to go out and purchase a few more pairs because they are so scrumptious and reasonably priced. Warm and loose and remind me of the old Spiegel catalog jammas my father would purchase when I was a child growing up. Foresty scenes in comfy cotton.
I have eight books surrounding me, my Bible, my journal and Harold the Maine Coon on the blanket atop of my feet. He’s got me hemmed in and bundled up in a ball in the corner of my couch. Which is all well and good until my hip starts screaming at me and I have to shift and stretch.
On my second cup of coffee and one cookie left on the Christmas cookie dessert plate.
I’m praying hard for a major change of employ that has been two years in the making. No word from them yet, and the longer I wait the less optimistic I become. However, where is my FAITH in God’s Perfect Timing in that? I laughed a little to myself… that maybe He’ll wait another two years for this cycle to run through again. He really runs me through the patience ringer. Can I have faith that He Has me right where He wants me? For it all really is His Decision.
The other threads have been quite strange lately. I’m hoping everyone is practicing wise discernment and exercising caution in posting. Please watch your words carefully as there seems to be many provocateurs out there and I trust them not at all!!

God does indeed know where He wants you, dear sis. For reasons that sometimes remain an enigma to us. At least for the moments when it surely would help to know them. Waiting in the hallway for Him to open a window or door is hard. Been there, as have all three of mine…and the door eventually does open, sometimes into a room I didn’t even know existed. Day by day is the only way to live I’ve discovered…not telling you what you already know. Just passing on what I’ve learned from looking back to where I and my three have been 💕
