There are people who attended great schools, at considerable expense, and had every intention of paying those loans back ASAP. I know one such person.

There are more than 150,000 registered Little Free Libraries. The LFLs that you borrow from represent a tiny portion of that number. Yours could be fine and yet potentially thousands of others could not be fine.

A crew performing maintenance failed to deactivate an industrial robot and one of the workers was in the way of its programmed movements and got hurt.
He wasn’t “attacked.”
It wasn’t a humanoid robot nor did it resemble one in any fashion and it had no intelligence, artificial or otherwise, to direct it other than raw programming.
This article is ridiculously sensationalistic and a gross distortion of a simple work place accident.
Standard procedure for any piece of industrial machinery is to “lock out.” The unit always has a very prominent electrical shutoff switch which controls all the power to the unit. This switch is turned off, and locked-off with a device that has space to attach a number of padlocks. Each group who is working on the unit has their own padlock and key. Thus, the unit can only be turned on again when all of the padlocks have been (ceremoniously) removed.
Many pieces of equipment have safety cages built around them. Or, human traffic-ways on the floor have tall wire fences on both sides, keeping people only on the path. The gates leading into the various machinery spaces are padlocked.
And we ridicule people from midevill times for their superstitions.
