Good morning all!
Been helping Steve with his log cabin the last two days. We got the rafters up today. Covered the roof with tarps. Understand there is no dimensional lumber in any of it. It is all rough cut from a mill. The rafters are 4″ x 6″ for example. Gotta wait on the metal sheeting for the roof to be cut. Steve has it ordered but the company is currently working on a big order before they can get to Steve’s.
Quite a workout for us! We hit it hard today from 10 to dusk without a break. We had to in order to beat the weather and get tarps up on it to protect the inside.
Sometimes enjoyable projects can become a pain in the ass when things don’t go as planned and that is what happened with the cabin because Chuck at the mill was having a hard time cutting what we needed when we needed it and so a lot of nice late summer and fall days were lost. And so there we were, busting our asses to get it to the point where it could take a snow load and save the inside from the winter weather.
I Bio Freezed my lower legs before going to bed. Woke up an hour later with cramps and hit them again. Took a couple of Bayer Back & Body and went back to bed. Another hour and I’m up again had to bio freeze my thighs from knees to crotch.
Gotta keep moving more! This summer for awhile when I was active nearly every day my sciatica got better. Now after a bout with what was probably COVID that kept me down for several days it’s back as bad as ever. Just have to keep active doing something this winter.
Both Steve and Betty will be having knee replacement surgery this winter.

We were told that most linemen that get killed are the older very experienced guys. They have lost the fear of electricity and get complacent. A refresher is always a good idea.

Just received weather advisory for our town. Snow squalls Monday? It’s been quite moderate and rather comfortable here, so interesting that December is opening up.
We attended Christmas with C.S. Lewis yesterday and it was so good. A one man show, David Payne resides in England and is traveling America to deliver this performance. He is captivating and tells the love story between Lewis and his wife, Joy.
I really recommend!
Betsy, for you and for all who may be interested… David owns a production company and they’ve recorded the performance. It will be out January 2024.
I think you would love the show and Betsy, I thought of you often while watching it.

This one is special to me for the mental cocktails it pours of Welsh Christmases past. One of my favorite book series is based on a alternate Wales.
I pray you are able to see the play, Betsy. So many lessons on history and his story about his wife will bring tears to your eyes. As I wept, I could hear the sniffles arise from the audience. He stayed in character and spoke directly to us and, I am not sure HOW THIS happened… but it was as if someone had walked through the theater and puffed on an old time pipe and the sweet tobacco smell wafted up through the audience. It was exactly the same sweet tobacco my grandfather from Germany smoked and I hadn’t smelled it in over 40 years.
Man, I was mournful yesterday. Mourning my mom. Mourning my grandfather who emigrated here from Germany in 1906. His ten brothers and sisters scattered to the wind. One a prominent Venomologist in Sao Paolo. One a prominent artificial organ transplant doctor. One a renown artist who painted beautiful frescos. Every few years – I will find another of his siblings by chance. We have a very unique name and if such a name exists, they are definitely ours. There’s only one lineage that dates back to Frederick Barbarrosa.
My experience with all my blood relatives was very short, but poignant, and I am proud of my heritage and for the intellect of each of those known to me who gifted the world with their service to humanity.
Yesterday, it was my Grandfather, who called me by my mother’s name (due to dementia) and twisted two one dollar bills into a tight tight roll and placed them into my palm as if he was smuggling gold. My father was born the day the stock market crashed and they lived through the Great Depression. When Grandpa died, they found $20,000 hidden in his home’s walls.
David Payne, the actor, was very much like sitting in the presence of one’s Grandpa and I wanted to stay for a long while. I pray I am that Grandmother for my daughter’s children someday. People will think me a tired old cat lady – and then they will learn I bake and cook and tell stories – so maybe my wish of the Lord that my descendants would outnumber the stars will be fulfilled just as He promised Abraham in Hebrews 11:11.
I promise you – you will love the performance and I so much want to have tea and chat with you about it, but I don’t want to give up one delicious detail of content. I was most surprised at the facts and history shared.
I so enjoyed the story. Reminds me of my great-grandpa Francis and my Nana. He was from Bavaria and was a baker. That’s where my baking DNA comes from, and of course my beloved Grandmother.
Brings back great memories. Thank you. Hope You and your “Fam’ are doing well!

We love our furry boys and would be lost and lonely without them.
We were at Pet Supplies Plus yesterday and their employees receive 30% off food and supplies. Thinking kiddo needs to work there! They had three adorbs up for adoption – one was a bengal kittie with the spots and another that looked part tabby and calico from its markings who was just as peaceful and sweet as could be. Just looked like a “peanut butter” to me with its pretty copper red markings.
If kid worked there – she’d bring all the transients home. Better cats than people, I suppose. LOL (meow)

Many have stumbled across the treasure of Christ. Not realizing its value they passed it by. However, the Lord has always had His eye on you. Know that you were made in His image. He desires that you come to know and love Him as He has always loved you.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

The flood part makes me think that his work will never be taken seriously.
The weirdest thing to me is that all of the science on these things is dogmatic. We have long historical records of people migrating in Europe and Asia. And a general understanding that humans filled the globe by migrating. But anywhere we do archeology, the subjects are the ancestors of those who live there today. And very dogmatic about it too. This guy’s work shows that people kept migrating after coming to this land.
Another thing we seem to be dogmatic about is that all the early people settling America came over and then stopped migrating forever more. And stopped coming over when those early conditions that allowed migrating went away. This guy’s work says genetics prove people kept coming over, long after the land bridge went away.
As an aside, the vikings did come over around the same time as he was wondering about. Just further north. And they record that the indigenous tribes were fierce fighters. When the people who terrorized Europe, who wield iron weapons, are driven away by stone age tribes, those tribes are truly fierce fighters.
This also totally undercuts the legal arguments that anyone archeology digs up from America’s past is an ancestor of the native people who live here today.
And, he joins in on declaring European ancestry of native Americans to be modern contamination to be totally discarded in any research. True scientists would look at the data and prove it. Or disprove it. Dogmatism allows people to totally dismiss anything they don’t believe by throwing out the evidence.

Yellow-Rumped warblers are typically the hardiest of the Warblers and the one most likely to maybe hang around for the colder months. Seems like I have one around because I have a Bark Butter-suet mix I buy from Wild Birds Unlimited hanging up with my sunflower feeders.
I had a lone Ruby Crowned Kinglet do this a few winters ago. The suet attracts the woodpeckers,nuthatches besides the usual suspects, though I have a dearth of woodpeckers & Nuthatches here. Just one pair of Red-Bellied, & Downy Woodpeckers, & White-Breasted Nuthatches. They are around, I hear and see them occasionally, but I have yet to see them hit my feeders this year.
My old location I had 17 Downy’s in my yard at one time.
Our birds too are a fan of WBU Birdacious Bark Butter.

I’ve never seen a Bewick’s Wren. Lucky you. My local resident Carolina Wrens are frequent flyers to my Bark Butter. I try and support my local WBU as much as I can, but after my initial winter start purchase of sunflower hearts and a bag of ground seed from them, I go to tractor supply for their $20 bag of 40lbs of blackoil sunflower seeds that I put on the ground, near my loads of evergreen cover shrubs. I always purchase my bird boxes,feeders, pole systems, BB, etc from them.
I am going to ask permission from work to put up a bluebird pole box, as the property would be conducive to Bluebird’s nesting. They have a large 2 acre or so plus retention basin area that would be great for habitat modification/plantings for wildlife, but I don’t think they would be interested in spending money for a project like that. I’ve long thought that the numerous retention basins are a overlooked bird habitat that should be utilized with the right plantings and management. I watched a male Red-Winged Blackbird which are in decline and uncommon here, trying to set up a nesting territory in a basin in front of a Home Depot near me.

Decreasing/disappearing habitats are a sad reality now but a real travesty for our’s and future generations.
Amongst all else we’re fight for right now, the future of our wildlife should be high on our list.

I also hope your taking the winter forecasts you’ve been getting from the usual sources with a grain of salt. January and February are likely to be much colder and snowier than NOAA has forecasted. This is especially true for the SE and for all along from eastern seaboard up into New England. The storm you guys are getting hit with along the NE coast this weekend was not forecasted by either the European or Amercian models two weeks ago when Joe Bastardi started talking about how and why it was going to happen. ONLY the JMA (Japanese model) foresaw it’s forming and coming.
The stratospheric warming over the Arctic that Joe started talking about a month ago formed up last week and the two lobes are likely to couple and dive south across central Canada into the plains states in the US. In about 25 days do not be surprised if the central US gets a blast of Arctic air that spreads east. Sub zero stuff.
Though there is a dusting a snow in the forecast at my place here in central Indiana for tomorrow, I don’t have much hope for a white Christmas this year. The real winter pattern does not start kicking in until about New Years. But once it does, look out!
