The first complete list of books that are now part of the New Testament was written by Athanasius in 367 AD. A few church Councils later, and in AD 405, pope Innocent I ratified the Canon.
How can John’s words, written 300 or so years earlier apply to any other book of the New Testament? (Dating is always in dispute, but many say it was written during the reign of emperor Domitian, AD 81-96.)
And we have been fighting about the proper ordering at least thru Luther. Revelations does tend to get stuck at the end. But the reasonings are quite varied, and not to be a final closure of all the Bible, even when it ends up as the final book.
So here is my question: Does ‘add unto these things’ include adding unto the meaning of those very words?
He didn’t say ‘this will be the last revelation ever, so always put this book last in your collections of revelations of God.’. Nor did he say ‘don’t ever change any revelation from God’. What he said was basically ‘don’t change what I wrote’.
If I take a warning, explicit to the revelation containing it, and expand it to ‘all of the bible’ or even ‘all of revelation’, am I not adding ‘unto these things’? Would that not earn for me the punishments described?

I think God cares about these things, and how we react to them. I think he cares about our priorities. He wants us to be kind and loving towards each other. To think of others.

Let us look around and be thankful to God for His beautiful creation, and the gift of his Son at this time.

Vera Lynn’s rendition of ‘We’ll meet again. Don’t now where, Don’t know when. a WW2 song similar in its separation theme. The WW2 Servicemen, were going overseas to fight. Some, they knew, would not return.
Very emotional theme at that time. She sang many songs beautifully, and was much loved by the British people. Born 20th March 1917, she died aged 103 in June 2020.

This tune is the quintessential foxtrot swing tune….4/4 timing, somewhere around 100 beats per min. as written, although some bands sped that up to ~120 bpm.
This once-popular ballroom dance has all but disappeared from modern dancing. It lets the couple embrace each other and move around the dance floor without any break in posture or hold. Our WWII generation knew how to dance intimately without being vulgar. A lost art.

Back in the early 70’s friend and I went to Six Flags Over Mid America(?) for the day. Saw on the sign who would be entertaining that day. It was Dobie Gray. We didn’t know who he was or what he sang but after he started singing, immediately recognized his song ‘Drift Away’ as being played all the time on the radio. I don’t remember hearing any other songs by him.

Last night although I did not sleep that well, I had a dream that seemed puzzling in a way. It was a group of old friends, some more close to me than others, visited me. They were staying with me, but coming and going in the dream, as if they were busy with other things at the same time.
They brought their pets with them. I was trying to find enough food to satisfy the pets and keep them happy as well as the people. One old girl friend I really wanted to spend time with and talk to, was there, looking as she had when she was in her early 20’s. We had met as young people where we worked. I haven’t seen her for many years, we lost contact, it was ‘pre-computer times’ and we both moved a lot.
Now I have no idea where she is, as she lived in Western Canada, Oregon, and I think Texas for while as her son lived/ worked there. After the dream I felt as if I had really seen her again, and it was a nice feeling as she was always a good kind person and great fun to be with.
How strange then to see in Treehouse a mention of a song ‘Old Friends.’ A coincidence probably, but still an interesting one.

I am sorry to disappoint but in Israel a private weapon license is for a pistol only. To get a rifle you have to be a member of a civilian standby squad.
What you see in the picture is the Interior Security Minister giving out a rifle to standby squads. He did form many many new squads who will carry arms if something happens that the police is not able to handle. For example an uprising of the Arab Israelis. Thousands of rifles were distributed with order of priorities starting with locations who are at higher risk like West Bank. I may be wrong but all my searches indicate that you can go for a hunting rifle but not something else. Shalom.

Israel Update:
-I have to say a few words about my latest experiment. I opened up a fake Facebook account and looked into Pro-Palestine accounts. What came up was mainly Arabs in EU and some in Muslim countries. The most obvious thing is that they basically post repeatedly images of dead and injured children. I am not happy to see it but it’s odd to me to see this level of “victim cult’. I mean I could flood you here with 90% of my content with images of dead Israelis of the worst kind. What would that achieve aside from hate and a desire to be violent? So this is incitement and a lot of the content is from Al Jazeera. I can tell that Qatar is not only the sponsor of Hamas but also the main inciter and spreader of fake hateful news. I also saw antisemite material similar to Nazi material and I saw denial. I doubt that they know what Hamas really did. They post things that suggests that there were no atrocities and the hostages are really treated beautifully. So to summarize it. Hate and no one to talk to. Hamas succeeded to stir them and paint Israel as the terrorist. Hamas uses the UN for funds, education and health and uses Al Jazeera as a propaganda tool. I feel that some of those people are stirred up to a level that they could be dangerous. They also like to post some videos of Western Progressive idiots. Really stupid staff like “here is a map of Palestine from 1947 so there was Palestine you can’t say they didn’t exist as a nation”. LOL. I told you that my father had Palestinian documents and had Palestinian stamps in Hebrew.
There is no response to a dialog attempt so far. It was exhausting and discouraging. I am not only worried about the Arab opposition. It was deeper. It was the degradation of humanity by the use of social Media. I think I will give a chance again for a dialog and I also have to confess that I enjoyed trolling some of them. The Nazi type guy had an image with his sister. I took my time and manipulated the picture and dressed him with a Jewish hat with a Star of David and her too and posted it back. One had a Palestinian image of a doll waving a Palestinian flag and I replaced it with an Israeli flag. I discovered the joy of trolling. LOL 🤣
-We are in an intense war and a lot is going on but the IDF doesn’t say much. But I did see a news video where they show intense fights and bombardments in Kahan Yunis and the reporter suggested that the IDF is deep in there and some say they may be up to the home of Sinwar (Hamas lifer in Gaza). Israel is also having intense fights in the north and I get the idea that they are trying to speed up and get it done. Maybe the American pressure is related. So far there are 18 dead IDF soldiers since the end of the ceasefire. But the fighting is at many paces simultaneously, a lot is going on. I am expecting more casualties in the next few days because they are having a lot of face to face fights in dense urban areas.
-A very bad video from Kamala Harris. She is trying to limit Israel. She is clearly on the other side. She is also sending people to Israel.
-On the other hand Biden said that terrible things were. done sexually to Israeli women.
I can tell that someone is feeding him with the emotional Israeli information. This is good that he. is not wholly fed information from the enemy.
-One more IDF soldier died. Note: It looks like the recent death toll is Tank related. The ceasefire gave them time to prepare. But while it’s hurting it’s not at the level of a disaster.
-Palestinians report that the level of bombardment in Kahn Yunis is the most they have seen so far. I watched a video and it’s really as intense as you can expect.
-The IDF attacked some 250 targets in the past day. Intense.
-IDF documents an extensive use of schools as positions to fight from. I will post the video because it gives a good concept of what is going on. They are very sophisticated. Today the IDF also find an explosive devise inside a school. There is a video of it too.
-Israeli Officials from Security establishment told the Washington Post that at least 5,000 Hamas terrorists were killed. It seems to be based on Intelligence and Hamas data that Israel go hold of.
-The Biden Administration estimates that this phase of war in South Gaza will take a few weeks. . Maybe until January. Then the intensity will diminish and there will be more pinpointed activities towards assassinations of Hamas leaders and against armed terrorists here and there. Seniors Officials told CNN that “The US warned Israel that it can’t repeat the destructive tactics from the North. “. Note: You know what I think about this. I believe that you think the same. Should I say “Go Brandon?” Remember I am on this platform for a while now. I know the terms and feelings to this Administration.
-Israel attacked back in Lebanon and accidentally a Lebanese solider was killed and two injured. Israel apologized. Note: Not good. This apology sounds like a weak thing to do.
-Almost 14 million views on Twitter at the description of the horror film that the IDF did. The account of John Spencer. He watched the video before posting it.
-It is estimated that since 10/7 Hamas fired at Israel about 11,500 rockets. Iron Dome succeeds to intercept in over 90% of the times and we have a good alert system that enables people to run and hide. We also have the safe rooms in homes.
If we didn’t have all of that you could expect a civilian deah toll that is no less than the number of rockets. Note: Remember that when we are blamed that “too many Palestinians die compared to to Israelis” , It’s because we invested a lot in protection against rockets. Hamas didn’t do anything to protect their civilians. Quite the opposite. They increase civilan casualties in Gaza intentionally in the way they operate and hide.
-The IDF with Shabak (spy agency) released an authentic image of all the senior Hamas leadership of North Gaza sitting together. Most of them were eliminated, five of the heads of the Brigades and sea and air and anti tanks. Most of them were participants or planners in 10/7.

I believe that humanity is in different shades. Not just good and bad. I believe that at least 80% are well intentioned regardless of their political stand. I believe that a much smaller % are very evil but may be inclined to positions of power. I believe that indoctrination and brainwash does take place and in some groups the % flips around and good people are made to believe that evil is good and good is evil and therefore you get the major disasters of humankind like Nazism. Not all who supported Hitler were evil some where brainwashed to believe evil is good and good is evil. So overall if I am right there is hope because the core, the spirit is divine and therefore good.

It’s all about priorities. Many in America have problems managing their finances. Others, the ones politicians like to call the top ten percent, are heavily invested in a number of industries or federal treasury notes. Today’s parable deals with a man whose investments were in his farming. His priorities were wrapped up in the abundance he had.
The problem was not his wealth, it was that his wealth had become his top priority. He didn’t need bigger barns, he needed a bigger heart.
Many have compared the church in the United States to the one in Laodicea of Revelation chapter 3. The people there were rich, they had fine garments, and they had an eye ointment industry that benefitted many. Yet Jesus called them “pitiable, poor, blind and naked.” Why? Their priorities were askew. They had become lukewarm in their love of the Lord.
What does the Lord desire when it comes to your money? Above all else, and whatever the subject, your top priority is to be right with Him. Then, He asks that you be a good steward of your money, time, and talents. Manage it well and be cautious about taking on debt.
Create and follow a budget (Luke 14:28-30). Be content with what you have (Hebrews 13:5). Give to God’s work first (Proverbs 3:9). Confer with the Lord over your monetary issues and needs (Deuteronomy 8:18; James 1:5). Keep your eyes on the prize (Matthew 6:33).
Pray for all who deal with the monetary policies of the United States to be wise and thoughtful, remembering the funds belong to the taxpayers.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

My favorite was Summer In the City...although I thought the final release of their 2-day studio recording of that score lacked fidelity. But the raw emotion of that piece spoke loudly to me for some reason. Later on, Quincy Jones won a Grammy award with his very much cooled down jazz interpretation of it. I thought QJ’s version was OK, but lacked all of the raw urban emotion that is present in the original performance.

This day in 1889 Jefferson Davis died.
The first and only president of the Confederacy spent 2 years as a prisoner and was charged with treason but never went to trial.
When I was 14 working with my Grandpa to build a house on the Tennesse river a few miles from Savanna, TN a neighbor down the gravel road from us was named Jefferson Davis. Yes, it was intentional.
Davis was an excellent politician, but left much to be desired as the CNC of the Confederate military in both his selection of some commanders of very important commands and in the measures he took to try and resolve conflicts between commanders.
For example. When Bragg had the western union armies shut up and starving in Chatanooga after the victory at Chickamauga, Davis came to visit to try and mediate a dispute between Bragg and Longstreet.
Davis’ solution was to let Longstreet take his troops, about 1/3rd of the forces Bragg had available, and to besiege Burnside at Knoxville! Longstreet’s troops were the best Bragg had! And if the Union forces in Chatanooga had been forced to surrender, Knoxville would have fallen very quickly once the whole force moved on it.
That is just one of several costly errors I could point to that Davis made during the war.
