Thank you for your concern. I rarely get sick . . . almost never, even during flu season . . . But, a good friend warned me that— ahem—I’m now old enough (pushing 80) that I need to think about reduced immunity. Yesterday, I got a flu-vaccine, pneumonia vaccine, and the RSV vaccine. Don’t like bein’ sick.
Don’t forget your covid vax. Yeah, just kidding!
There is definately a flu going around. I have heard of several people having it. One young man I saw yesterday who has a website and has been very sick with the same symptoms I had, at the end of October and into November.
He has just got over it after 3 – 4weeks. I coughed for 4 weeks. It goes for the chest. The usual flu symptoms, temp, body aches, headache,etc.
Took my Vit D3 and Zinc, Quercetin and NAC.(as I did for Covid. ) I got some throat pastilles that were citrus favored but also had Zinc in them They were soothing, and I used some cough medicine or I would have had no sleep. The endless coughing was hard to take.

While RSV vaccine is supposed to prevent lower respiration infections, I didn’t find any information on how it interacts with existing infections.
Nonetheless, yesterday, after getting my RSV injection I found that my chest congestion was definitely less troublesome—reduced urge to cough, easier breathing, etc.
Today is even better—no urge to cough, much easier breathing, walking more normally with no need to stop for breath . . .
Can it be that RSV vaccine actually acts to cure existing lower respiration infections? Dunno, but I definitely can tell a difference. Whatever, this sure beats being up all night coughing my head off.
Coughing wears you out. Unremitting coughing wipes you out.
This is what Chris had to deal with after his two surgeries in April, Garrison. He couldn’t draw breath, couldn’t walk without assistance. I thought he was finished. He’d sit in his chair and say, “This isn’t living”. And it wasn’t…so I understand completely what not being able to breath is like. Thankfully God placed us in the care of a wonderful doctor,a pulmonologist, who was so good and got him on a medication which over the months has restored him to normal. We know also that He had His hand on Chris as shoulder…no doubt about it🙏🏻
The RSV is new, so I know nothing about it. But if you’re feeling better, I can only say HOORAH!!!! And thank Almighty God for His mercies. Still, do take it easy. Our older selves take a bit more time to recover from illness. Hate that but it is what it is, dearest friend. You take care 😘
A good friend contracted whatever this is a couple of years ago. Constant coughing put him in the hospital for awhile. He found that over-the-counter “Severe cough medicine” really helped. I tried that. Had a miserable night but then the next morning my head was clear, no runny nose.
RSV is for lower respiratory, i.e. lungs and chest. It appears to be doing its job. Watch this space. 🙂

Pavarotti was never a favourite of mine. But this? So lovely. Makes my heart soar.
He and his small town choir won the International Eisteddfod Choir of the Year in Llangollen in the fifties. His career after we all know about. But he returned 50 years later to perform once again. I worked in that town and lived in a small village nearby. You can imagine how excited we all were. Tickets for the Sunday concert were sold out early, but we sat on the edge of the canal which ran above the Pavilion on that balmy July evening and could hear him. Something I will never ever forget.

Israel Update:
–Missiles towards central Israel. Around Tel Aviv. Iron Dome intercept. One mild injury.
-Two IDF soldiers killed. One was injured way before and didn’t make it. The other one is from now.
-Tens of Thousands in a “Free the Hostages” Demonstration. Some of the speakers were released hostages who spoke about the horrors and how important it is to hurry up and release everyone.
Note: To some degree it looks like this protest was hijacked by the left, same people who protested against Bibi and against the Judicial Reform. This is not good if it becomes an anti government protest. It is not yet an obvious anti government protest. I know one of the key performers is from the right. I will keep an eye on it.
Realize that Sinwar (The leader of Hamas in Gaza) was decades in Israeli prison and speaks fluent Hebrew and he is likely watching Israeli TV and see that there is pressure on the Government so he can ask for more in a deal.
Note: I watched yesterday an interview with the Chief of Prison in which Sinwar was in Israel. She knows him personally for years. She is sure that he wants to live and will not turn this war into a personal suicide. When he had a brain tumor she says he was literally crying. Israel gave him a surgery and saved his life. For him it meant nothing.
-In the last terror attack in Jerusalem a few days ago it was a civilian who neutralized the terrorists, at least one of them. Unfortunately the two soldiers who were there shot dead both the terrorists and the civilian. They misidentified him as a terrorist. At some point he lifted his hands and was still shot dead despite of it. It’s hard to tell from the video if he was shot after he lifted his arms or before. The Military Police is investigating. Now there are many of pro gun control people making noise about the Interior Minister giving out too many gun permits. Bibi in a press conference today said that we have many many terror attacks that civilians prevented a disaster in the recent times and he supports the Interior Minister who is letting people to get armed in larger quantities than before.
-An Islamist in Paris killed a German tourist and injured two. Said to the Police he is disturbed from Gaza.
Yelled Allah Akbar while stabbing. Was jailed in the past for 4 years for plotting a terror attack.
-Israeli Official suggests that Israel will be willing to stop fire for another day if we get 10 more women and children released.
-A confrontation between Israeli settlers in the West Bank and Palestinians ended with a dead Palestinian and three injured. Note: This plays right into the Biden’s narrative of “violent settlers”. I will follow up but my guess is that they were under a life and death situation and choose to open fire. Anyways, I don’t yet have the facts. I will pay attention. I will know. The matter is under investigation.
-Israel assassinated the Commander of the Shujaiya Battalion of Hamas. The man was involved in planning 10/7 and behind sending terrorists of Hamas against a Kibutz and an IDF base. He was also involved in other terror attacks in Israel. Remember I said yesterday that Shujaiya is the last serious stronghold of Hamas in North Gaza and is a difficult one. This assassination has a strategic value as it will weaken the organization of Hamas once Israel goes in. It was a Shabak (spy agency) and IAF(Israeli Air Force) operation.
-Netanyahu in a Press conference seems very determined about not having the Palestinian Authority trusted with anything. He explains how they are genocidal just like Hamas and we will need to de-radicalize the area like the US did with Germany and Japan. He clearly says that it’s a point of disagreement with the Biden’s administration. Bibi appears strong on this point. He will not let anyone who is likely to generate terror to be in control.
-Bibi visited a released hostage and will meet more of them. Note: Bibi looked stronger today. I think he is encouraged after the win of having hostages back home.
-A senior member of the Political Wing of Hamas: “We will not release soldiers unless all our prisoners are released.”
-Deputy Leader of Hamas: “There will not be a hostage exchange until the war is over and the end of firing”.
He is willing to exchange dead bodies but needs time to get the Israeli bodies. Note: The dead bodies are also very important to jews, to have a roper burial. It helps families.
-Israeli Chief of Staff approved the plans for the continuation of the war. “We will create conditions for getting more hostages home.”
-Hezbullah fired rockets and got hit back pretty hard. I posted a video. It was a very intense fire towards the sources of fire.
-An Israeli solider was badly injured in North Gaza today.
-Israel published that a high ranking IDF Officer a head of a south Battalion was killed in 10/7 and his body was kidnapped. He personally fought to stop the invasion to civilan areas and was killed. He was a hero.
-The IDF is hinting on a possible assassination of four senior Hamas Officials. IDF’s Speaker in Arabic teasing them and said :”Where did they disappear to? Why is Hamas concerned about them?” We are talking about four of very high positions in the political leadership of Hamas, people who are very very close to the top leaders. They are all members of the Political Leadership wing. I saw a complete picture with all the Political Leadership and we already had almost a half dead. This could mean we almost got them all.
A Shia Militia in Iraq (related to Iran) attacked an American Air base with drones. No data about injuries.
-Observation drones were found in the Humanitarian aide that was going into Gaza.
-Gaza reports: 15,207 dead, 40,650 injured, 7,500 missing. 50,000 buildings totally ruined. 240,000 buildings damaged. Note: The numbers could be exaggerated but who knows?
-Hezbullah reports 89 dead so far total.
– An assassination in Khan Yunis. A vehicle blew up from the air. No data who was in it yet.
Note: Many precision assassinations in the Khan Yunis area means we have spies there.
-A targeted assassination on a vehicle in Syria. Three from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard are dead, the elite Iranian military organization. Second time this week of such an attack in the same area.
-Heavy attacks on Gaza. I posted a video earlier. It’s massive. Specially around Khan Yunis which will be where we break Hamas. Also the Shujaiya area like I mentioned before.
-7 wanted terrorists arrested in the West Bank at a few cities. Many weapons confiscated.
Also a print shop of incitement material was sealed. In a few of the locations IDF was attacked with live fire and explosives. No injuries to our forces. A terrorist wad shot dead.
So far since the war began we had 2,100 arrested in the West Bank and 1100 are Hamas.
Note: I hope not everyone get released in a final prisoner exchange deal. If Israel releases any it should be out of their area. They can go to Syria or Lebanon or even Gaza when it’s under control.
-IDF in Gaza received a cards list of the wanted Hamas leading terrorists. Some are already stamped with “eliminated”. This is inspired by the cards that the US troops received in Iraq. The Military leader of Hamas was demoted to a Queen of hearts. LOL. See below.

My conception about Israel was that nearly everyone did
Long ago – 20 years maybe – I saw a photo in Time magazine or such of 2 young Israeli women in swimsuits at a beach refreshment stand with combat rifles slung over their shoulders. I though “that looks about right for Israel”
But they probably were active-duty military and in the most recent news coverage I think I’ve read that weapons are quite controlled in the civilian propulation and there’s a lot of caution about issuing “too many”civilian weapons. With a mixed population containing some Arabs, perhaps there’s a fear that neighbors’ weapons could be comandeered?

At one time it was true that many people were armed. But then the progressives got in power backed by the courts and that changed. I bet it changes back now.
It is easier now. But still this is not the US. You must have some above basic level of weapon training from your military service and you have to live or work in a conflict zone by the border etc…. The common person who was maybe a technician in the army or an office job or communications or observations and lives in the center is not able to get a weapon. They did lower the level of weapon training needed but it’s still above basic.
It would make sense if it did.
Back in the 80’s I heard a story about how Israel decided they’d had enough attacks on women and children in shopping malls, and started letting people get guns.
Turned out that when terrorists attacked and were killed by grandmothers it was kinda embarrassing, not to mention it served as a good deterrent.

In one of my earlier posts about a month ago I laid out the entire revised Israeli weapon license regulations. It was made easier but still the common citizen can’t get a weapon unless they live in a high risk zone like by the border or in the West Bank.
I know the image you described. Those are active duty on leave. Israeli streets are full of armed soldiers who are on their way home or back to base. Specially trains and transportation areas.

Service lasts 2-3 years after which firearms are returned to the military.

I have two questions for you, if you don’t mind?
First we heard about judicial reform in Israel, but without much clarity. Seems the left were pretty unhappy. Would you be able explain a little?
Second, I notice that Jewish Israelis (but not Arab Israelis) living in the part of Israel known as “the West Bank” are referred to as settlers by pretty much everyone, including other Israelis why is that? if we moved to another part of the US I don’t believe we would be called settlers.
Your first question requires me a full page to answer. I will try to answer. The second question is easier so I will answer first. The West Bank is recognized by the international community as either “occupied” or “disputed”. Israeli right calls it Judea and Samaria and the left and the West are calling it West Bank. “Settlers” is defined as “those who live past the 1967 borders״ The Golan Heights and Judea and Samaria are past the 1967 borders. Most “settlers” are religious and ideologically motivated so the definition includes a certain type of person in its concept.
As to the Reform.
This is very basic. It’s about identity and the future of Israel as well as security.
The Judicial system is mainly in the far left control. Specially the Supreme Court. While the population is inclined to the right and more tradition and religion and conservative. This is a conflict. How can that be? They knew it’s a power point so they formed a system where Judges appoint judges. So they managed to preserve their agenda and people.
How is that an identity? The left wants a “secular nation of equal rights for all its people with religion out of the way”. The right wants a “Jewish state with equal rights to all its citizens”. Basically it’s conservatives against liberals. Will Israel have a Jewish nature ot secular liberal nature.
The left and some secular center, considers the Supreme Court to protect them against religious oppression and takeover, protecting the rights of minorities like gays and others. The religious right are making many children per family and the demography is on their side.
The Supreme Court expanded its rights and started to interfere in national security. So you can’t pass a “death sentence to terrorists. Or expulsion of families of terrorists. Etc…”. The punishments for incitement to terror are small and other liberal issues. Like allowing enemy flags in demonstrations, allowing terrorist sympathizers in parliament etc…
When the right took over they wanted to change it and take control of the appointment of judges and other aspects.
In other words the Parliament would vote and appoint the judges and Supreme courts judgment could be overruled in Parliament by vote. Since the right has a majority it was a threat to the liberals.
Since Israel has not checks and balances like the US it was perceived as government is undermining democracy.
Bibi’s government made the mistake of taking the reform too much to their side and this created a huge resistance and demonstrations.
When they softened it and made it more sensible it was already too late as they now faced a vast group of united opposition in the nation.
This is the short version answer and I hope it’s enough.

I can never understand how the West hasn’t yet figured out that the only thing they understand in the Middle East is strength.

It has always puzzled and stunned me when I hear politicians of practically every “stripe” talking about the “two state solution” as if that was a viable possibility. A two state “solution” can NEVER work when one of the states is fundamentally committed to eliminating the other of the two states. Gaza has been operating under Palestinian “leadership” for some time now and what was accomplished? They had prime real estate right on the shoreline. They COULD have made a tourist Mecca (pun fully intended) which would have brought literally millions of dollars of money into their coffers which would have given them the ability to carry out all number of projects to improve the lives and circumstance of the Palestinian (and other) people living in Gaza. But, they did NOT do that. They CHOSE instead to rip up needed water pipes to create homemade rockets to launch into their neighbor (the “other’ of the two states) Israel. The Palestinians (and others) living in Gaza suffered with lack or water, lack of sanitation.. all in the name of feeble attempts to murder Jews and eliminate one of the two states.

In the same way, God’s light, through Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and His Word, not only shows the way you should go but also removes the fear of darkness and of a potential wreck.
Like a night light in a child’s room makes the way clear and offers comfort to the little one, so the light of the Holy Spirit comforts the believer’s heart. The way the lights of the destination city comfort a weary traveler at night, God’s light gives Christians hope to reach their ultimate destination—Heaven.
Light exposes what happens in darkness. As today’s verse says, what is hidden will be exposed, whether it is in this life or on judgment day. Light shows the way. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). He also said, “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in Heaven“ (Matthew 5:16).
Ask the Lord to show you what actions can you take to let your light shine and the good deeds you can do to honor Him. Pray for believers in the United States to shine their light with loving acts so that the Father will be glorified and many will be shown the way to Christ.

Good morning all
As I mentioned a week or so ago, I’m in the process of upgrading my computer. I ordered a new CPU and some new memory to go with it, and upgraded to a water cooling system to cope with the new (hot-running) CPU. The shipment process is moving a little slowly, but that’s understandable given the time of year. Hopefully I’ll have all the parts by Christmas.
All my equipment is a couple of computer generations old. The computer industry has moved on to bigger and better, and my system is now considered obsolete. The CPU’s they’re making now won’t even fit into my motherboard. So my plan is to get all the maximum-strength components that this motherboard will allow, and in that way future-proof my system as best as I can. I expect to get several more years out of this thing. The only thing to upgrade after this point will be the video card, and the industry has even moved up a generation on those too. So now that makes my video card obsolete too. Eventually, that’ll mean that I can pick up a maxed-out video card on the cheap, but right now the video card market is hot and prices can be…extravagant. I have seen, no joke, video cards for $10,000. Yeah, uh, we won’t be getting one of those.
To pass the time while I’m waiting, I’ve been prepping the workspace to make the transition as smooth as possible. Mostly that involves software, and making sure I have all the important stuff backed up somewhere (and remembering exactly where the heck did I copy that file to?). It’s my least-favorite and most-dreaded part of this whole process. You see, I’m a terrible backer-upper. I almost never do it, even though everybody knows that you should and you must, even though I’ve been bitten in the past and lost data forever when a hard drive crashed, even though I am at this very moment laboring under this same problem of a hard drive crash. I am in effect working with half a computer here. And it’s the important half that’s missing, the half with all my games! And some other stuff too, gone forever, but the games, the games! You would think I’ve learned my lesson, but no.
So I’m going to replace the crashed drive with a new SSD drive, which makes it five separate individual drives in my system; four SSD’s and one old-style disk drive (guess who’s on the upgrade list). I would have six, but the last slot is reserved for the DVD drive.
But…
Have you ever heard of RAID? It stands for Redundant Array of Independent Disks. It comes in a few different flavors but the two main ones are Mirror and Stripe. Mirror is the one that sensible people use. It creates two separate independent drive spaces, and whatever happens on one is mirrored on the other, so that you have a permanent running live backup at all times. In these days of live online backups, this mode is not used so much anymore.
Stripe is the one I’ll be using. It’s a way to tie the drives together so that the computer sees them as one drive. The data is interleaved in stripes between the (two or more) drives and the benefit is that read/write times are improved a little, making my hot rod just a little hotter.
All of this means that I’ll be wiping all of my drives clean and starting over from scratch, which is only logical since I’m for all intents and purposes building an entire new system, save the video card and the motherboard itself. No big deal, I do this every couple of years anyway, or when I do a major upgrade as I am now. Yep, a fresh new install of Windows (ugh!) on a pristine blank fresh drive, followed immediately by an installation of Linux Mint.
But once started, there’s no going back. Everything on all the drives is going to go poof and disappear with one final irrevocable key stroke, so I have to make completely sure that I have everything I need from those drives before I lose it forever. That’s the tedious and un-fun part of all this, because of my slovenly back-up habits. “But this time it’s going to be different!” Right.
Computers are dust magnets. In fact, if you’ve never taken the cover off your computer, you might be shocked at the amount of dust that can collect inside the case. It’s all those fans, collecting room air and blowing a concentrated stream inside the case for cooling, right along with all the particulates in the air. And all those live electrical components create a slight static effect which collects even more dust. Dust bunnies? No, more like dust oxen.
So, to get ready for my new parts installation, I cracked the cover to clean up inside. Yikes. It turned out to be a bigger job than I thought. I ended up pretty much disassembling the entire darn system; even took apart some of the case itself. I took out all the fans and thoroughly cleaned each one individually. I took out the video card and deep cleaned that, and its two fans. The only thing I didn’t remove was the CPU and its air cooler, and the two memory sticks. I’ll remove those and clean up around those areas when the new parts arrive.
Altogether it was a big job but I essentially reconditioned and restored my system to like-new condition, and it’s sitting here waiting for the new CPU and memory.
It’s exciting stuff. I can’t wait. I hate to say that I’m like a kid at Christmas time, but it is, and I am. 🙂

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Carolina Chickadee. One of my all time favorite birds. I had large groups up north of a different species Black- Capped Chickadees. The Carolina Chickadee does not have to migrate or abandon its territory in the winter, thus I have a resident pair, and do not get groups of them. They did nest in my Bluebird box a few years ago.
