Mr. Speaker, in 1848, Karl Marx said, a progressive income tax is needed to transfer wealth and power to the state. Thus, Marx’s Communist Manifesto had as its major economic tenet a progressive income tax. Think about it, 1848 Karl Marx, Communism…. I disagree only regarding the implementation of a national sales tax.
A national sales tax will become a never ending VAT. Once implemented it will never be rescinded. Look at the UK. They literally tax your air.
All taxes on one’s labor should be eliminated. Tariffs and Dutys are the means to fully fund the limitations of government.
Yes. A national sales tax will always increase which HARMS low income and fixed income people. This makes products becoming UNAFFORDABLE for people on the lower end of the scale. They never stop increasing sales taxes.

Assume the income tax is gone, IRS gone.
Give married couples a $10,000 annual credit for being married, and $2,000 for each child up to the age of 18. Institute a $20,000 divorce penalty.
And possibly returning to an economy with only one working parent necessary. So much better for society.

I too agree the Fed. Gov., a far smaller Fed. Gov. funded only by tariffs is a goal.

Leonard Richard’s book “Shay’s Rebellion” explains how banker agent Alexander Hamilton coerced and bribed state delegates into not immediately paying off the debt incurred from suppressing Veterans Shay’s rebellion and using the same methods to get rid of our first constitution “the Articles of Confederation” and take the Constitution. The main difference betweeen the two was the Articles was a weak federal government and stronger state governments. The Constituition that Hamilton bribed and coerced into adopting was the opposite, a strong Federal and weak States.

I’ve been out of the market for over a decade since deciding to go anti-government and anti-bank but was surprised by the number in the OP so I checked and found it interesting that on Oct 27 of this year the market was at 32,417. Quite a runup.
Given the rest of the realities in the country, and the number of financial folks who’ve jumped out of windows this year, I’d cosign the posit that the current numbers are artificially supported.
I still am amazed that people watch what Blackrock and Vanguard and others do with their retirement savings and totally miss the realities. Money and bullets always tell the truth.

I’m not very knowledgeable about the markets, but over these last few years of seeing every rigged thing, I have joined your camp, Dunes 2021.

And I perceive we are all funding humanity’s demise through technocracy ‘stocks.’ I wouldn’t know where to look, but what percent of these investments are ‘syn-bio’, AI, war machinations, nanotech, surveillance, etc. This is why no gain of function labs will ever be shut down… The economic engine of the fake and gay stock market is dependent on this crap. But happy retirement everyone as we enter digital and medical prison.
Most of my savings is still in the market even though I know it’s being propped up to make the potted plant look good so I do see the realities. I don’t want to pay the penalties for removing it. I also know this is stupid because that is heaving at the gnat and swallowing the camel because TPTB will eventually take it all. There are no ready answers and no crystal balls. Gold & silver and credit unions is the only thing I ever hear. Nobody has any real answers.
Others have what they think are answers Dixie, they are just ones that you may not be comfortable with. Also, everyone’s situation has unique facets and thus no single answer is “the one.”
Take for example your case – “in the market” means nothing in and of itself. If it’s personal investments in a brokerage or similar account, then ‘soon’ might well be the time to extract it, while capital gains are at their current level and before the (very) high risk of 2024 settles in. 80% of something is worth far more than 100% of nothing, as you yourself indicated.
If the money is in a ROTH account, then there are no tax penalties should withdrawal be seen as the best option as long as you’ve had one for at least 5 years. The “window” for such an extraction is much broader due to the lack of tax implications. You also have the option to take ROTH $’s out of the market while leaving it in the ROTH by putting it into income funds, many of which are making anywhere from 5% to 12% these days depending upon the base investment class, or other lower-risk investment options that still generate gains.
If the money is in a 401K or IRA, then there are several options. If it isn’t in an account where you have total control of how it’s invested, then the first thing I would suggest is you educate yourself on self-directed IRAs, find a conservative Christian company, and transfer it (no tax penalties, as it is staying in a tax-deferred account).
Once in a self-directed IRA you can invest it in any of a multitude of things, in the case of self-directed IRAs in things ranging from gold and silver to real estate to T-bills (if you think the government isn’t going to collapse anyway).
Then there is always one’s cookie jar or mattress (will USD be around? Hyperinflation?).
Note the only part of this that is any kind of advice is to research and educate yourself on possible paths forward that address your unique situation and viewpoints – then sit down and calculate “what if” cases, including what your financial needs are. Don’t depend on others. The other would be never put all your financial eggs in a single basket.

Not even close, depending upon your definition of “inflation.” If one looks at food, transportation, etc. as outlined by Sundance in the Turkey Gaslighting Thread, it doesn’t even touch the LOWEST inflation number and is less than HALF of the higher range numbers.
It also hasn’t even recovered the 2021 peak that was induced by the massive stimulus money and government budget largess.

What has kept me in the market (somewhat) is something few understand. Equities are an inflation hedge. We’ve come to associate bonds with safety because inflation has been under control for so long.
I prefer an inflation hedge I can hold in my hand, to #’s I check on my phone.

Why has the Biden administration opened the borders? This question is a mystery no one explains. The reason finally dawned on me. Baffling as it was, I now understand. They are not intending to import workers. They are endeavoring to import consumers.
The administration is importing consumers and giving them money to spend and places to live purely to support economic metrics that look good. They are doing it using printed money, almost half a trillion a year some say. Why isn’t inflation worse than it already is, given the money being printed? Because the excess is drained back out of circulation as excess reserves deposited by the big banks at interest with the Fed. One would think that cannot go on forever, but so long as people are willing to give up real assets in exchange for numbers on a ledger, then apparently it can.
In the last twenty years, vast farms of three story walk-up apartment buildings have suddenly appeared in the outskirts of my community. I could not understand, who would live in them? As it seems, many of the people living in them used to live in houses in town, and now they are supported by Section 8, food stamps, disability, social security, and or divorce. Now the people living in the houses these people used to occupy are the immigrants that are crossing the borders to enter the United States from all over the world. Their bills are paid by means I don’t understand.
When I was growing up in the 1970s, the United States was an economic powerhouse. In all categories of goods, we made the best. The bulk of the wealth in the country was held by the middle class, and the nation was rich. Now the jobs in industry and the harnessing of natural resources to produce wealth have been exported. As the trade deficit widened, the refrain was always, “We have the consumers. They will work for us to have access to our markets.” Now, as we must import consumers to prop up the consumer economy that is left, we have arrived at an inflection point.
A few have gotten rich from the consumer economy; most have not. Most now expect to have no savings. Most are working for wages, and part-time jobs are proliferating. Many can not afford houses or cars. Middle class jobs with job security require either going to work for the government or for businesses that contract with the government. Middle class jobs in the private sector, such as the self-employed in small business, are disappearing.
As our standard of living suffers, and as Americans experience disappointment in our elected leaders, what persuasive means can be most effective to convince a skeptical electorate that change is needed, that this is not fine? Well, people don’t like being lied to or kept in the dark. Change to the status quo can come about, by at once the exposure of the lies and dissimulations of the present administration, and by setting an example of openness and candor. People can see that unlimited immigration in a fully settled nation is a tactic, not a necessity, and it is not in their interest. We can not fragment this knowledge; the full story must be told

I sometimes read articles because they are the “other side” of the picture. This is one from the Atlantic Council supporting more Ukraine spending.

First, the article lies that the US has spent a modest $75 billion – the total is close to $113 billion. But to consider $75 billion dollars “modest” is infuriating to consider what else it could have done.
Second, US aid with Ukrainian courage has not yielded “success on many fronts”. Nearly 500,000 Ukrainian lives lost and disabled, billions of dollars in damage in Ukraine, billions of dollars of NATO weapons destroyed, European economies de-industrializing, lots of corrupt grifting by Ukraine and US Congress, weapons sold to rebels, cartels, and terrorists, etc.
Third, the article quotes Petraeus who is one of the most erroneous commentators on the conflict. The guesses on Russian casualties have no corroboration.
Fourth, the conflict in Ukraine does nothing for upholding international law and the established liberal world order, countering perceptions of a retreat from global leadership. It simply shows that the US foreign interventions like in Ukraine are complete failures and a waste of money. It hypocritically shows that the US doesn’t care about Nazi militias, an enormous death toll, or Zelensky’s totalitarian policies just as long Ukraine is doing the will of the US.
Fifth, I am very suspicious of the polling figure that says 61% of Americans support aid to Ukraine. The poll was conducted by the Chicago Council Survey funded by Lester Crown who served as president of General Dynamics, fifth largest defense contractor in the world.
Sixth, the elements that diminish the deterrent power of the US military are their failures on the world stage. The withdrawal from Afghanistan and the conflict in Ukraine are failure of US intelligence and US military planning which directed the pullout in Afghanistan and are directing the Ukrainian military. The longer the US continues to fund a failure, the more of a failure it becomes.
The writer predicts dire consequences of not funding Ukraine. Those consequences are fantasies of the writer. The military of Russia has not been significantly degraded by the conflict in Ukraine….in fact, the Russian military has been greatly enhanced with new weapons, experienced fighters, and new techniques.
And nowhere in the article is one single concern about the cost of the conflict for any human beings.

I believe the mental health wellbeing of children in Conservative homes can also be attributed to a belief in God, which makes for more compassionate parenting, and yes discipline is key.
