Israel Update:
-12 Israelis returned home today. 2 of them are dual Russian Israeli women which Hamas let go because of Putin. 10 are a part of the original deal . Also 4 Thai citizens. One 13 year old girl, 4 teenager boys and 7 women. 54 days in captivity. One of them is the mother of a girl who was released a couple of days before. 145 hostages are still in Gaza. 4 children still in Gaza. 10 women still in Gaza. (Soldiers are not included in the numbers). We are very happy to see the released but quite a few have the fathers left behind and quite a few lost family in 10/7. I don’t forget it but still very happy to see them out of the nightmare.
36 Children were released so far overall.
-Thai person who was released said that they were with Israelis and the Hamas beat the Israelis with cables. The Thai said that they mostly got one pita bread per day. One time they got a tuna case that they split between four people. Most of the hostages lost about 15% of their body weight. There is a report about 12 year old who was forced to watch footage of atrocities. Reports of threatening crying children with guns. This makes me worry about the soldiers who are in there in captivity. I pray for them with all my heart. Israel must hurry up and finish this as fast as possible.
-I mentioned it before. Hamas said that the Bibes family died in an IDF attack.

The IDF said they are looking into it. No one knows if it’s true or not.
This could be a vicious psychological torture.
-20 min before the end of the allocated time Hamas fixed the list and Israel agreed to extend the ceasefire one more day.

-Finally after a lot of heat, the Chairman of the UN said that the sexual crimes of Hamas in 10/7 should be investigated.
-Elon Musk- After his visit and watching a bit of the horror film he said that “there is a difference between intentionally killing civilians and enjoying it to the IDF who try to avoid civilian casualties. He said that we need to make a change in the way the Gazans learn to like killing Israelis. He suggests that he is willing to help with restoring Gaza. He said that the way the Germans and Japanese changed included a restoration of their economy.
-Very warm words from the newly elected Leader of Netherlands. Note: He spent long time in a Kibutz in Israel. He said that he lived 2 years in Israel and loves Israel.

One of the released Israeli kidnapped kids, who was held for almost 50 days in the attic of a house, says he was held by an UNRWA teacher.
This teacher is a father of 10 children, who locked the hostage in the attic, didn’t provided him with any food or his medicine.
Another hostage was held captive by a a Gazan DOCTOR who continued to provide care to children in the hospital, but not the Israeli kid.
Teachers, Doctors, UNWRA staff, they’re all under Hamas’ control. They were there at the massacre on October 7th, and took part in holding hundreds of hostages, including women and children, captive.

This was only with a military occupation with strong censorship, denazification, reforming the militant culture in Japan, etc. I’m not sure this is possible in Gaza, but Israel should try. Kick the UN out of the schools and use only Israel approved texts and monitor teachers. Israel should run the TV stations. Al Jazeera should be banned. The internet in Gaza must be tightly controlled. Also, Israelis should move back into Gaza and take ownership of significant amounts of land. Redevelopment must involve Israeli contractors since otherwise redevelopment funds may go to building terrorist infrastructure. All internationally supplied reconstruction funds must go through Israel.
Everything that allowed 10/7 to happen must be rooted out. The whole culture of Gaza must change. This can only happen if Hamas is eliminated, but the Palestinian Authority is also part of the problem.
Israel should not cut short the war. Let all those who wish to fight have their chance. Fight them until every Palestinian loses the will to fight or all would-be fighters are dead. Have it out now or the atrocities will keep coming.

Two dead. 6-8 in hospitals it’s still too soon. Numbers are changing. Two soldiers and a civilian killed two terrorists. I saw the image of the bodies. Heavily armed with AR style assault weapons. Could have been a lot worse with two terrorists and such weapons. Soldiers acted fast. There were a lot of round flying. I heard in a video.
I just heard that that the soldier who killed the terrorists was on a short leave from Gaza and on his way back. . I saw the video, a real professional. Two terrorists come out of a vehicle into a very busy bus station and shooting. Within 30 seconds they were dead. The soldier prevented a much worse situation. There were also other reserve soldiers engaging but that soldier got it all done.
As you noted, an armed civilian was involved in stopping it as well.
The problem is that libidiocy / liberal / socialist / ‘progressivism’ has taken root in Israel as well.

The US have a Second Amendment culture that is unique to the US. It’s not just the permits, it’s a whole culture that is now in the DNA of the US. The Internal Security Minister since 10/7 have loosened up the weapon requirements drastically and had opened hundreds of standby civilian units in towns and cities and distributed thousands of long weapons.
There is now a growth of hundreds % in civilian weapon permits. But it’s still not the US and one need to have some level of military experience to get a permit or live in one of the sensitive areas or need it for their jobs. But there is a huge improvement.
When you move in Israel you see many many armed soldiers in the buses and streets and everywhere because the military is proportionally huge and the country is small so you see them leaving base to home and back carrying their weapons.
Many many of the terror attacks were stopped by soldiers on leave, a large % including the last one.
I’m watching the insufferable John Kirby (US NSC and military briefer) at a press conference discussing how Israel must take a discerning and gentle hand when military action resumes.

International data:
I have previously read (years ago) that it is usually around 8 in urban warfare such as this. And then recently I saw the DoD say that in Afghanistan it was 9.
Israel data:
Previous times in Gaza, I have read it was around 1. Currently we are still in the fog of war. But at the time when there was around 10,000 dead according to Hamas, I had also seen from the IDF that around 5,000 combatants had been killed. So the numbers seem consistent at around 1. Plus we know Hamas lies, so it’s quite possible/likely to actually be less than 1.
Perhaps Kirby should learn from Israel about how to have a “gentle and discerning hand”.
Further to all this, the legal war rules of proportionality say that the number must be proportional to the aim of the mission. If the aim is to wipe out Hamas, then surely the acceptable international legal number would be using the international data. So, 8 x the civilians as Hamas. Israel is well and truly within that limit by a HUGE amount.
Therefore, the only possible conclusion is that this entire commentary from Kirby and from pretty much all over the world, is gaslighting.

Picking up Joni Mitchell’s highly unusual phrasing, tones, sharps and flats is near impossible … but she nails it. But, there was confusion over their names,” the Guinness World Record revealed.Fifty years ago, a 23-year-old woman fell 33,333 feet from the sky and survived, making it to the Guinness World Record (GWR) for ‘Highest fall survived without parachute’. In a video posted on Twitter, GWR revisited the story of Vesna Vulović who was a flight attendant onboard JAT Yugoslav Airlines Flight 367 on January 26, 1972. In an unfortunate incident, the flight crashed over the Czech Republic in an explosion that killed everyone, except Vesna.
Talking about the same, Craig Glenday, Editor and Chief, Guinness World Records said, “Vesna Vulović’s story, for me, is one of the most incredible survival stories if, in fact, not the most impressive that we have here at Guinness World Records. ”
“It was not just surviving the crash but also the mental trauma of knowing that you have experienced one of the worst things that could possibly happen to you,” Glenday added.
On the day of the crash, Vesna boarded JAT Yugoslav Airlines Flight 367 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The plane was flying from Stockholm in Sweden to Belgrade in Serbia with two stopovers – one being in Copenhagen. But, the plane never made it to the second stopover in Croatia.
Over Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic, the plane was blown apart. The video added, “At 4:01 pm, 46 minutes after take off, an explosion in the luggage compartment tore the aircraft into three pieces. As the cabin depressurised, the passengers and other flight crew were believed to have been sucked out of the plane, into freezing temperatures, falling to their deaths.”
Glenday explained that the fuselage itself would have smashed because of the bomb breaking it into bits, and people blew out of the plane. “Vesna, however, seemed to have been trapped at the rear of the aircraft, probably pinned into the back of the fuselage by the drinks trolley,” he revealed.
Therefore, she couldn’t be pulled out of the plane. Next, the fuselage separated from the rest of the plane and hurtled towards the ground in a heavily wooded area.
The video demonstrated that the fuselage crash landed in the thick snow at a favourable angle “and that’s most likely what saved Vesna’s life”. Later, her doctors revealed that “her low blood pressure caused her to quickly pass out when the cabin depressurised and that prevented her heart from bursting upon impact”.
“She broke almost every bone in her body and she was paralysed temporarily. She was in a coma for three days,” Glenday said.
The video also revealed that Vesna was found screaming inside the wreckage and the person who found her was a former World War 2 medic. “So, he was able to administer vital first aid before rescuers arrived.”
“It’s incredible to think someone survived such a great fall. And rightly, she is celebrated as being one of the most remarkable human beings that have ever lived,” Glenday added.
Due to the massive fall, she suffered a fractured skull, two broken legs, three broken vertebrae, a fractured pelvis, several broken ribs and temporary paralysis below the waist. “Amazingly though, Vesna was able to walk again after ten months, though she had a permanent limp because of the twisting of her spine,” Guinness World Records shared.
However, many conspiracy theorists have claimed that the aircraft was flying at a much lower altitude than stated in the official accident report. “This claim was debunked by flight data obtained from the aircraft’s black boxes. The data shows that the plane’s altitude, acceleration, direction and speed at the time of the explosion was indeed 33,333 ft,” the video said.
Vesna passed away at 66 in 2016.

He is very sweet but I don’t think it is fair to the dog to breed them to be cute toys, or for short legs, or for fighting other animals. I think that is cruel. I haven’t had a dog since I was a child mostly due to difficult circumstances but I love them and all other animals. If I were younger and able to give a dog a suitable home and exercise I would love to adopt unwanted ( no longer useful as breeding machines or other nasty reasons) and rejected/abandoned and previously mistreated dogs and give them a loving home, as some kind people already do.

Back to yesterday, it brought back some middle school music that I had forgotten, Yes. I looked for a link to post and discovered that they continued on like Tommy and added an orchestra. No idea if this will work but here is You And I.
Superb performance of an EPIC song. Far too long for AM radio. And deserving of headphones to hear Steve Howe play those almost ironical discordant notes that hang together with a musical sensibility few can conjure. And the elfin-voice of Jon Andersen is a freak of nature, nay a blessing from God. And was this one of the last performances by Chris Squire? It certainly sounded like him playing that Rickenbacker 4001. Only Rick Wakeman missing. Yeah, and the orchestra played well too.

I am still following the benighted Fults family of whom I wrote months back (you may or may not remember). Two of their girls have severe autoimmune disorders. Then she discovered she had an invasive brain tumour. Throughout this sweet family has not only kept their faith in a loving Lord but it has increased with each delivery of bad news which will not turn to good. I can’t help but think of Job…
The latest is that the doctors believe they have something which can help their older daughter but at a cost of $25,000/month. Their insurance company has declined to cover it…”experimental” they say.
In the meantime, mom’s tumour is growing. Another craniotomy runs the risk of damaging her facial nerves with a real possibility she will lose the sight on her right eye.

The girls have had their autoimmune disorders for a few years. But their Mom was diagnosed with her tumour in June and has gone through many surgeries. As Winston Churchill said, “If you are gone by through hell, keep going.”
They are keeping on going, their strong faith getting more so. A local company has designated them as recipients of the proceeds of a Christmas Auction which was glorious news. They are so grateful.
And you know, duchess, as I see all these mega wealthy people spending their millions on promoting their preferred candidates, and on massive boats and mansions (which they are entitled to do) I can’t help but think how much good they could do if they would only raise their eyes from themselves and look around at people like the Fults. There are so many like them…

IMHO, because of his lifestyle (something he was born to and did not choose) he is vulnerable to being manipulated by self-serving people. sSo what seem to be his crackpot ideas about things like Climate change and global warning or cooling, he has probably been told by some else and Charles has not done his own research.. Kristen, who was visiting family in Lebanon at the time, was scheduled to catch a flight back to America. Her plans were interrupted when the airline canceled her flight. The circumstances required her to find another way home. She eventually traveled on Middle East Airlines to Qatar where she was able to make a connection. The plans she had involved a detour, but she made it back safely.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds you that God has plans for you. Today’s verse says He also knows you have plans of your own. Sometimes they will mesh neatly, and other times your plans face interruptions, whether it is a canceled flight, a cancer diagnosis, or the unplanned arrival of guests. When you experience detours, seek to understand the purpose the Lord has in mind for you.
His plans extend to all the nations of the earth (Psalm 22:28). Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), for the Jewish people, and for Israel’s leaders.

Recently a treeper (I didn’t note the name) posted an interesting web site called notwokeshows.com. I’ve been watching a lot of streaming TV shows and movies as I recover from surgery, and I’m always on the lookout for new ones, so I’ve been giving the site a try to help figure out what’s worth watching and what to skip.
I think it’s a very useful resource and a great concept. But I also think it’s probably too new to have itself quite figured out yet.
The reason I’m saying this is two shows in particular.

The first is Blue Bloods, which I have had on my watch list for a while because it was mentioned positively here on CTH. But the site labels it as woke. It’s a CBS show that I’m streaming with a Paramount+ subscription.
It’s been on air for a long time – started in 2010 and is still on schedule for next year (obviously popular).
I’ve only watched season 1 and part of season 2 so far. And so far, I think it’s absolutely wonderful. It has a good cast with one standout, its star Tom Selleck (I’m a big fan). The values in the scripts are lovely – deep family connection, religion shown very positively, and of course the old staple of real justice and honest (against today’s odds) law enforcement.
Because I’ve never seen it and am watching it from the pilot on, I suspect that the woke problems must have started around PDJT’s inauguration, when the left in all media and entertainment, as we well know, dropped their masks entirely and went full-on Cultural-Marxist. So I expect I’ll get about 4-5 decent years out of it before it deteriorates.
What the site really needs is a note for each show on when it went woke. It would be an easy UI fix and I’ll look for a way to let them know. Their discussion is on Disqus (sp?) and I know from sundance that’s no place to go – I haven’t. Just wanted to let people here who may be interested in watching the show that at least it started out well worth the time.

The second show is a bit more challenging to determine “woke” status for. It’s the Amazon s-f comedy Upload.
If you take the show at face value, it can certainly seem absolutely woke as all get-out. It takes place about 7 years in our future and it presents every single woke trope as wildly stronger at that time. The biggest issue it was flagged for is that it presents the escalating trend towards world gummint, transhumanism, and Controligarchy as all caused by evil “capitalism.” The bad guys are giant evil corporations and the good guys are rebels who talk socialism. The end of the second season is particularly rife with those ideas. (But the third goes a bit deeper…)
My bottom line is… it’s a satire. And I think it’s a very clever future-fiction one. Every woke trend is up for comedy. A transhuman AI world is shown to be a horrid soul-sucking thing – that in itself is, to my perspective, a great message. Lies from all in power are shown to be obvious. People who fight against the technocracy present a valid survival message.
If you just removed the dumb misconception on capitalism/socialism, it’s in some ways a MAGA message.
And it’s a very funny show.
I can’t imagine how notwokeshows.com could, in their current early stage, label a show like this accurately. I’m just writing this in case s-f fans here might want to check it out, keeping a pound of salt applied. And yes, as woke, it of course includes bad language and sexual stuff which would not be for everyone. But even the sex part of it is brilliantly lampooned. I won’t spoil it by attempting to describe how…
Otherwise, the site is indeed useful. The shows they listed as woke include almost everything I identified myself, often simply from just the presentation and previews, or just checking out a single episode on recommendations from people I know. The shows not (not yet?) listed as woke include many I’ve been curious about.
Final note: If I am really considering a show, a trip to IMDB to browse the most recent reviews is also helpful. These days people there are getting braver all the time about saying the one small thing that proves a show is a great find, or (sadly more often every year) a total dud.
And when I don’t have the time to look, I sometimes just resort to Hallmark channel! ☺️ Plenty of good-hearted stuff there, especially for the Christmas season.
Agree on Blue Bloods. I saw the early seasons on DVD from the library … can’t say what the later seasons are like, but agree the early days of the show are great! Hope you recover well and quickly from your surgery.

Years ago, an Aussie climate official named Tim Flannery had said that our Sydney dam will never be full again. He said that during a drought.
Since then we have had plenty of rainfall and our dam has been full and occasionally overflowing.

Meanwhile, on a more serious side – we are not allowed to increase the height of the dam walls because of some creature, maybe a frog or something. The environmentalists claim increasing the wall height will endanger this creature.
In contrast, we seem to be ok to put a field of solar panels. And a few years ago we cut down 200yo trees in Tassie for wind mills. Plus we’re about to put some wind mills on farmland and off the coast. Apparently animals here don’t matter.
