A week ago my doctor removed the finger splints from my damaged left hand. I’d broken my little finger and my ring finger in a hard fall. Although knitted together, my fingers lack the full range of motion I need to play the guitar. This makes listening to these fine players a bit poignant—I can almost feel the music throug my damaged fingers. Hopefully P/T and good doctrin’ will help me regain full range of motion so I can play guitar again. Sure hope so!
Awww….healing takes time, stay with the PT….Bring it to the foot of the cross….I am not musically inclined and so admire those that are! The best I could ever do was the first 7 notes of Jingle Bells on a guitar!

Dearest Garrison, you make a point with your recovering finger about the effect music has on me when I hear certain works which so move me that I have a visceral reaction to them. But it’s more than physical. Dare I say it is a spiritual one? Because that’s the only way I can describe it. Especially with choral works, the human voice being the most marvelous instrument on earth.

This picture reminds me of the grey fox family that our youngest son and his wife have been feeding. They’ve been buying cheap drumsticks from HEB and feeding the foxes. The male is becoming quite overweight and the female fox is at the point where she will come in the house to get her chicken. Incidentally they found out that the deer would also eat drumsticks. 😂

Such is life…many different roads which intersect, by design I am certain, but for how long only God knows. Nothing lasts forever, and some stops are shorter than others. Garrison, I’m very sorry to hear of your injury, and can relate to your problem. I did an injury to my left hand which required surgery and the loss of a couple of “parts.” I can’t play like I used to, but I can play well enough to perform publicly, and one of the ways I recovered the ability was to play in my head, beginning while still in a cast. It might sound a little out there, but it works. In fact, I read a report last week about a study recently completed that showed the effectiveness of detailed visualization in physical therapy.
I always tell myself I shouldn’t complain, since Django lost seriously more parts than I, and yet overcame it to play so well he changed the whole world of guitar. And that’s as close as you’ll get to hearing me compared to any real guitar player. lol I can play decent rhythm guitar and accompany singers, but that’s about it.
I’m prayers up for your chops, and for your complete recovery, no matter how long it takes. Keep playing.

It sounded just like Hello!? It was amazing because she only used it at the right times 🙂

They are back.
-After hours of delays 13 Israeli women and children arrived. 8 of them children.
4 foreigners from Thailand.
We thought that there are 195 left in captivity but Thailand is saying that they have more that are undocumented immigrants. So now we think there are 200 in captivity.
A relief to have them home. Some very emotional footage of them meeting their parents.
I will post it. Some lost parents and one had her 19 old brother stay in Gaza, so there are mixed feelings.
One of the girls 9 years old was wrongly announced dead to her father a while ago. Later he was told that she is alive and now he got her. What a nightmare, I am happy it’s now over.
About 25 more children/teenagers up to 18 are in Gaza.

Note: There are many terrorists released into the West Bank. We know that they will kill or try to kill again. Somehow Israel needs to legislate that their release is illegal and they must complete serving their time. I can’t think with the idea that a criminal act of terrorism can legally give them freedom. So far the whole War Cabinet said they will not stop until Hamas is eliminated as a governing body. This is a very complicated war unlike anything in history. It requires very good leadership. I hope Bibi is up to it. God give I’m the power and wisdom.

David. Thanks for the frequent updates. It surprises me that Hamas still has some element of functioning leadership and communication. It just shows how well entrenched and prepared Hamas was. These tunnels were not created over night. I wonder how they were able to hide the mountains of dirt that would have had to been removed?
What Israel had right next door was a breeding ground of hate and violence. Hamas has thousands of fighters. Thousands of missiles and anti tank rockets. This was an extremely well prepared and ambitious army. It surprises me that this threat was not taken more seriously?
My prayer is that the IDF and leadership find the balance between addressing the hostage issue and wiping out Hamas. It must be gut wrenching decisions. I’d love to have a Canadian PM that would promise to deploy all resources needed to aid Israel in wiping the rats out. But He who is with Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.

11/26/2023 – Then shall you see clearly to cast out the tiny speck from your brother’s eye
Matthew 7:1-6 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you estimate, it shall be measured again to you. And why [do] you behold the tiny speck that is in your brother’s eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull out the tiny speck from your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first remove the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the tiny speck from your brother’s eye. Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and tear you.”
After having talked about giving *alms (acts of mercy), and praying, and fasting, and setting our affections on things above, and how to walk in the light, and faith; now the Lord brings all these lessons home to the crux of being in the kingdom of God; which is to love one another, and follow the example of Jesus, to seek that which is lost. James put it exactly in that way, saying, that “True religion, and undefiled before God and the Father is this; to come to the needs of the orphan and the widow in their affliction, and to keep one’s self unspotted from the world.” The character traits and fruit of the Spirit being borne, as described in the Beatitudes; is for being God’s light of the world; and the salt of the earth, keeping it from rotting.
Walking with a perfect heart before God, as described by the Lord; doing the will of God, and His commandments from the heart; are for the sake of those who we bear witness to, that the Holy Spirit might confirm the word with signs following, of conviction and healing. In all our duties as Christians, we are to do them without stage-playing, to be seen and worshiped of men; but sincerely from the heart, where God sees our real intentions and motives. We have been given the New Birth and the baptism of the Spirit, and have the law of God written in our hearts and minds; so that having the mind of Christ, He might send us into the world, just as the Father has sent Him into the world. To do the Father’s will, and to finish His work, is to seek that which was lost; it is the ministry of reconciliation, and preaching the gospel to the poor.
With all this in mind, and keeping in the context of all the rest of the Sermon on the Mount up till now; we are commanded to Judge not. Does that mean, not to judge right and wrong? Does that mean, don’t judge sin, and guard the sanctity of the house of God? Obviously not! For He has already said, that if we do not judge our brother, and rebuke the sin, and if we suffer sin upon our neighbor; God considers that, hating our brother in our heart: and loving our neighbor as ourselves, means exactly that, that we are our brother’s keeper, and watcher for his soul.
So the word, Judge not, that you be not judged; has to do with treating one another like we are better and holier than them. This is not however, for an automatic assumption to be made by the one being reproved, or corrected, or instructed; or to be used to get out of conviction and criticism: but in fact, for the very one who needs the instruction or correction, to have the fullness of the Spirit’s wisdom unobstructed by an unclean vessel administering it.
Listen to exactly what the Lord says, and it is clear; that the whole point of this word, is so that we can see clearly to take out the tiny speck from our brother’s eye. That is a kindness that a real friend will do. And how can anyone “see clearly” who himself doesn’t even understand himself, and the grace wrought in his own life? And then to presume some kind of superiority over the one who really does need our help; is going to be extremely unsafe for the one who needs us to see clearly, but our own eye is completely blinded with huge issues.
If I’m supposed to be able to see something very tiny in my brother’s eye; I’m gonna need plenty of light, and some really good strong glasses, and of course totally clean fingers. Its pretty obvious how to translate that into being fit and capable to help our brother with something he needs help with. The admonition connected, not to give that which is holy to the dogs; is used to describe what the blind hypocrite does to the gospel, and the precious words of wisdom and life, that he is supposed to use for good with them that need it.
And in the same way, it is for the holy reverence and respect of Him whose gospel we represent to the world, that we must not be a hypocrite; for the ungodly will absolutely know it when they see it; and not only will they rightfully tear us to pieces; but we will give occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme. “Give not that which is holy to the dogs; neither cast your pearls before swine;” does not mean thinking who is and who isn’t “worthy” of hearing what we have to say; but walking in truth and a good conscience, without hypocrisy, for the sake of the Precious and the Holy that we bear before the world.
The “dogs” and the “swine” are the ungodly; this is true: but its precisely because they are like that; irrational and without understanding, that we need to guard against their being trampled under foot, as by beasts with no conscience. So, its not that we should not preach to all kinds of men: its about being ourselves the kind of men and women of God, worthy of the words we preach. What the LORD has given to us, He has given to us to freely give to one another: “Love was not put in our heart to stay: love isn’t love, till we give it away.” We are our brother’s keeper; and as our brother’s keeper, we have to be fit for that most honorable position, and walk worthy of God’s trust to be so.

Good morning all! As I mentioned Buckley got groomed. Got a pretty short haircut on his body and a little longer on his Cocker legs. A lamb cut but the legs got trimmed more than usual.
Last night he was between us on the bed as usual. He was curled up resting against my waist. I reached down to pet him and he was shivering. Sherry and I like to sleep in a room in the mid 60s with the ceiling fan on.
We have a down covered Duve and then one of those big fuzzy soft blankets on top. I covered Buckley up with that blanket leaving out his head. He stopped shivering and slept that way all night and even stretched out keeping the blanket over him.
I took he and Geisha out and when I did I took the Coal colander that I use to shovel the ash from in insert into and dumped it in the trash. I then built a fire in the insert. Temp here is 31 deg. It will be colder getting down to 18 deg at night with highs in the 30s as the cold front moves east in the middle of this week.
Made a pot of coffee. Ground Dunkin Donuts beans to make it and poured it as soon as there was enough for a cup. Good stuff! As usual Geisha went back to bed with Sherry and I Buckley is up with me. This is my quiet time.

Yes, but for the last 10 years I took two full thermoses with me so I did not have to buy that much. And a good part of that time I was going into Canada, the land of Tim Hortons. On my way back into the states I would have my would stop at Comer, ON at a truck stop to pick up the faxes of my clearance documents. There was a Tim Hortons there. I would fill a thermos and get a couple of donuts.
At the border my standard answer to the US border patrol’s question “Do you have anything to declare?” was A thermos of Tim Hortons coffee and two donuts that I have already consumed.
Did they ever ask to inspect the Canadian goods? LOL.
Was stopped and searched at Sumas (Wash state/Can border) by the Mounties on my way to Alaska for a one year remote. Declared that I had firearms and they checked to ensure I only had longarms, no pistols. I was lucky since they only did a cursory search. If they do a full vehicle search it may take a day to get your vehicle back together if you can,( and you are responsible to do it not them.)
I carried 2 thermos also in the truck and even went so far as a dc coffee pot in the sleeper for occasions when you had to park on site overnight to load/unload.
They really tore into my truck going into Canada at the Ambassador Bridge crossing. I’m a smoker and they like to check you for American cigarettes. I think it was more than three packs was prohibited. There were a couple other times my freight was checked both going in and then on the American side coming out. Had my trailer X-rayed several times. One time I was hauling a load of coil springs for trucks and it really blew their minds. I think they just X-rayed my trailer to see what a load of coil springs looked like.

Of course of small units like Rodgers Rangers, who never intended to line up and charge, the rifle was the preferred firearm, and for close quarters a brace of pistols.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

As I write this at my central Indiana home it is raining and 36 deg. As an Alpine and Cold weather warrior I will tell you this is dangerous weather for the outdoorsman and when it happens that arctic cold air comes right behind it, it gets potentially deadly real fast for those not prepared to deal with it.
The only loss of life to cold weather we had in the 5 1/2 years I was on a team in 3rd Bn. 10th SFG(A) occurred when a team up in the white mountains got wet in this kind of weather and then an arctic blast came on the heals of it that night. The whole team was hypothermic and contact was lost with several team members as they struggled to get off the mountain.
The next day the body of the single fatality was found. He had been one of those that got separated. He tried to cross a fast running stream on a log. He fell and the strap of his ruck caught on a branch sticking out holding his head and shoulders above the water with the rest submerged. When they found him there was a dome of ice over his head from the splashing water.
He was wearing a large ALICE pack and the shoulder straps have quick releases easily reached so a soldier can drop the ruck very quickly.
