Do you remember when the testosterone-driven “Top Gun” was the ultimate recruitment tool for the US Navy? It’s easy to see why—the movie was packed with adrenaline, rugged men, beautiful women, and plenty of what’s now termed “toxic masculinity.” Contrast that with today’s military, which has totally shifted focus. Instead of seeking out traditionally masculine men, their recruitment now heavily includes the LGBTQ community and men who wear pantyhose. This change might be why their recruitment numbers are in the toilet.
The United States military’s newest recruitment tactic is taking a really bizarre turn. Gone are the days of scouting for robust young men at gyms or high school football practices. Now, they’re adopting a different strategy: dressing up as anime characters and visiting “conventions” across the nation.
I threw up a little. No more Army Navy games or academy support from me, without substantial change. Thank goodness I’m not the only.
Was weaned on Navy football! Only game I watch anymore is on is Army vs Navy. Maybe not. I may have to peak to see if Navy is winning…😉

No, you’re not the only one. My hubby is a military academy grad and is constantly being asked by parents and grandparents to talk to their high schoolers about attending military academies and he refuses. He says he cannot and will not recommend any academy.

Something not often mentioned, but I believe very necessary is forensic audits of the top tier of the Military staff (O6 and above) combined with similar audits of members of the US House and Senate and federal bureaucrats GS14 and above. Stop the bribes, graft and corruption and things will get better. We should also stem the revolving door of retired General Officers leaving the military only to embrace the open arms of the Defense Industry.
I am torn, truly 50/50 on this.
Firstly, I think about quotes of the Founders, and they seem to be universally against having a “Standing Army”.
Secondly, hopefully this prancing and skipping replacement can’t be used against the citisenry.
Thirdly, of all of the abuses and usurpations, for some reason the one that tears at my heart the most, is the cynical way TPTB have abused those who have such a strong motivation to serve that they sign up.
Contrast all that, with the genuine feelings of pride and patriotism I still FEEL towards the Country and Heritage I still want to believe in, and now grieve over the loss of….

I am a Heritage American who comes from a long line of veterans, some even killed in combat which always bothered me as well as the trauma they suffered especially my father. We bleed for this country, paid our taxes, were good neighbors, and love the country. I really do not feel like giving it up for these evil people that want to loot and destroy it, while putting a compassionate false face as a cover for what they are really doing.

So I expressed this sloppily and I apologize for that. I was trying to be too clever in 280 characters and it didn’t work. Here’s a fuller version of the story. It is true that IgG4 doesn’t trigger T-cells, but in general IgG antibodies do not trigger T-cells; instead they trigger a host of other attack mechanisms that can clear antigens once antibodies have bound to them. IgG4 doesn’t, though. What it should do is “neutralize” the coronavirus by preventing it from binding to and putting its RNA payload in a cell.
The problem is that the Omicron SARS-Cov-2 variant has mutated away from the antibodies that the original mRNA shots caused people to make – this was a predictable outcome, and was predicted. But our efforts to fix this problem with “variant-specific” boosters haven’t really worked – people who have received mRNA jabs still make antibodies that are far more effective at neutralizing older and now extinct SARS-Cov-2 variants, even after they get modified boosters.
Further, what was not predicted was that our bodies would “class switch” away from other forms of IgG and instead make high levels of IgG4, which, again, only weakly engages the rest of the immune system to destroy the virus. T-cells may take up some of the slack, but for complex reasons, relying too heavily on them isn’t the greatest idea. In fact, the primary promise of the mRNAs was that they would generate an overwhelming IgG antibody response and defeat SARS-Cov-2. Their impact on T-cells has been studied far less. In the event, that promise turned out to be half true – the mRNAs do generate an overwhelming antibody response, at least initially. But they have entirely failed to defeat the coronavirus.

Hi BBR, Alex does not have all the pieces. IG4 is an immune-modulating response to the immune system. It quiets things down. This is how we may sometimes get over allergies. It may also switch the operating mode of macrophages from mode 1 to mode 2 (attack mode to support mode). There are folks reading this that know a lot more than I do.

Much of our energy production, both electrical and home heat, has moved from fuel oil to natural gas. My parents converted our house to natural gas heat when I was a kid. They didn’t do it to “save the planet” they did it to save money; on a per-BTU basis natural gas was cheaper. It also, because it is CH4 and the hydrogen has a large amount of chemical energy bound in that compound, releases far less CO2 and no other pollutants when burnedcompared with other alternatives.
As societies improve in technological and engineering capacity their energy efficiency in terms of BTUs released for unit of pollutant released goes down. That’s not because we’re trying to not be pigs and destroy the planet it is because we get better at utilizing resources and get more for what we do utilize. In other words what drives all this is cost, if you leave the market alone is productivity; doing more with less is the definition of productivity and humans seek this for obvious reasons.
Nobody has to be forced to use wind and solar power if it pencils out just like nobody had to be forced to use natural gas for either heat or electricity. If its cheaper all-in it wins all on its own. The entire reason we have all this arm-twisting and “subsidies” is that it isn’t cheaper and the people pushing it know that; it is a net loser and not by a little.
Demanding that less-developed groups of people on our planet forego that which we did isn’t “saving the planet” — its creating slaves. Subsidizing them just creates dependency which is just fine with plenty of people but it shouldn’t be — ever. Further, said people who are not as far along technologically both can’t support said efforts due to lack of infrastructure along with the lack of skilled persons to build, operate and maintain it AND they can’t afford to buy it from someone else either.

This isn’t an unintended consequence of leftist policy, it’s the main reason behind the policies. There are two large groups of law enforcement (broad sense of LE) that need to be purged and reformed for the long-term communist plans to really work.
You need patrol-level cops that are not america-loving and you need boots on the ground military that are not america-loving. Military brass and white-shirt cops have been politicized for decades in most places. Problem is, when this country goes full Chairman-Mao in a few years , you need large numbers of “police” to do the dirty work of raiding homes and taking people away.
Think that’s too much to believe? Ask anyone that lived through Mao’s China in the 50’s and 60’s and they will tell you how it was done. Many are still alive today and living in america (and can’t believe what we are doing to ourselves).
