In 1963, he alighned with the Goldwater campaign and at the 1964 Republican Convention he delivered the “key note address” just before Goldwater gave his acceptance speach.
Until DJT, this speech, known as simply “the speech” or “a time for choosing” has been recognised as the best political speech in modern times, perfectly encapsulating the “conservative” world view.
Do a search for “Reagans ‘the Speech’ or “A time for choosing” and you will find it and find it as relevant today as it was in the 1960’s.

If you do not insist that only those willing to assimilate into the existing culture, not change it to be what theirs is, are the only people you admit for residency and ultimately citizenship including any woman who can potentially bear and raise such a child, you are at risk of exactly what has been done all over the world throughout history and is being attempted right now in both Germany and Israel.

My husband’s family immigrated from Northern Europe after WWII, looking for a better life for their children. It took my FIL almost five years to establish residency, get a good job, fill out all of the proper paperwork, and save enough money to bring his wife and two children to join him in America. (My husband was born the year after they arrived, the first native born American in his family.) They followed ALL of the rules, paid all of the associated costs, found a sponsor, and signed documents that they would NEVER be eligible for any type of public assistance.
Once they arrived, my MIL immediately set to learning English, as she needed a driver’s license and the test was only offered in ONE language. My sister and brother in law were put into the regular public school system and they too, learned English, as that was the only language that was used! By the end of their first year here, they were reading and writing at grade level! (Amazing how well that worked…instead of now when we have to offer everything in a dozen different languages as immigrants refuse to learn English and we let them get away with it!)
No one in my husband’s family has ever been arrested or collected welfare…they have worked hard, paid taxes, and followed the laws of the country. Among their children, five out of the seven grandchildren are college graduates, with two Master’s Degrees, and a PhD to boot. There is NO ONE who is madder about all of the illegals than those who came here by the proper channels and who worked hard to INTEGRATE into their new home and become a contributing member of society!
