The war against truth has suffered a point of light. As reported in Zero Hedge, officers of the Seattle Police Department may no longer lie to the public or employ ruses most of the time. Certain ruses may still be employed, only if there is no other alternative, and they are pre-approved and documented.
Apparently this policy against cops lying is first of its kind in the country, passed by the city council, signed by the mayor, based on analysis of the local inspector-general. Imagine that: public employees who are not allowed to lie to the taxpayers who employ them, deceive them verbally, or hoodwink them by pretending to be someone other than who they are.
Let’s now hear the rationalizations and justifications why public servants must lie to do their jobs. I predict that this policy of openness, honesty and truthfulness for cops will spread to other jurisdictions, states. and eventually be debated in Congress. There is a bond of faith, between the public and the government, especially at the federal level, that has been broken by a culture of dissembling among public officials, lying to the people, to Congress, being non-forthcoming, concealing evidence of crimes. The people deserve better.
Now, if only politicians…

Economic update – yesterday I drove from Pennsylvania to NYC. I used the PA and Jersey Turnpikes. I have driven this route hundreds, possibly thousands of times. Yesterday is the first time in my life I can recall seeing so few trucks. A scary amount really. Sometimes I could drive for more than a minute without seeing a tractor trailer in either direction. Even my (not mentally all there) 85 year old mother commented on it. “Where are all the trucks?”
I know I’m a bit of a perma bear, so take this with a grain of salt, but the lack of trucks on the roads in one of the most densely populated corridors in the country should scare everyone. Stock up while you can. Hard times are coming.
I’ve been noticing the discontinuation of baking products. Numerous brands are gone. Great observation as those highways are crucial corridors for the Tri-state area.
People are not heeding the warnings. Europe is already discussing the rationing of food.
Aren’t the Jersey Turnpike and PA Turnpike toll roads? Could the tolls have risen so much that the truckers are using non toll Interstate roads?
For me to get on the beginning of the NY State Thruway and get off at the very first exit in NY, Westfield, was $.65. THEN NYS decided to do away with all the human toll collectors and utilize license plate readers and send me a bill. So now I can still pay that $.65 but the bill comes with a $2.50 administrative fee UNLESS I pay $25.00/year for an EasyPass window sticker. I don’t use the Thruway enough to justify a $25.00 sticker.
Before, by averaging 6 trips a year at $.65, it cost me $3.90. Now with a $.65 + $2.50 admin fee = $3.15 x 6 trips = $18.90. Still cheaper than buying that $25.00 EasyPass sticker but I now just use secondary roads.
You better believe. I haven’t found a good load in the months, so for me is better to be parked and wait.

I’m so sorry. My mom was living in NY during much of COVID. I made the trip up there several times a month back then. There were so many more trucks during lockdown.
Yesterday, I started taking mental notes of which trucks we were seeing about 45 minutes into our drive. For the entire rest of our trip, which includes all the return miles home, I counted only 4 Amazon trucks and 1 car carrier with cars on board and 1 without. That is unbelievable. If you would have asked me last week, I’d have told you it was unremarkable to see two or three Amazon trucks in the seven miles of pa turnpike between Plymouth meeting and king of Prussia.
