Manuel Ponce was a contemporary of Andres Segovia. They were in fact lifelong friends so collaborated on many of Ponce’s compositions. I first heard the Ponce preludes in long ago Segovia performances where he performed several preludes. As a guitarist with medium chops, I was intrigued. Ponce’s preludes proved to be perfect instructional pieces. Here we got a chance to hear all 24 of these musical, lyrical, preformed by a genuine virtuoso. Enjoy, Treeper friends . . .

Israel Update:
–White House are saying they are conducting intensive negotiations to release hostages. Saying that it is difficult and slow and if they achieve an agreement, a long cease of fire will be needed.
-White House: “Hamas is trying to rescue its injured people through the agreement to let some injured into Egypt. A third of the people on the list were Hamas people.”
Note: Egypt only agreed to take some not involved wounded.
-Nasrallah the Hezbollah leader did his anticipated speech. It was pre-recorded as he is afraid to get out. He really didn’t say anything interesting. Many Arabs are pissed off and you see some wild mocking responses. They wanted him to join the war and help Hamas or Gaza. There are two points that I pulled out of his speech as a bit more interesting. One is that he threatened the American ships. The other is that he emphasized that this is a “Palestinian War”. Basically “not Iranian”. He is protecting his handlers.
-Netanyahu with a message to Hezbollah: “If they make the mistake of joining the war we will apply a fire strike that was never seen before”.
Note: Nasrallah made a similar threat to Israel in case Israel want to start the war with them.
-Some rockets towards central Israel. No injuries. Intercepted.
-IDF estimating that it will take weeks till arriving to the “heavy centers” of Hamas. The main challenge is the terrorists appearing out of the many tunnels, shooting and using RPGs anti tank missiles. The Air Force is damaging the tunnels and making it harder to travel in there. Also Engineering forces handle tunnels and their commanders say that in some cases there are good achievements and some terrorists get buried of suffocated in tunnels.
Note: Israel has Special Force units by the name Yahalom (Diamond) which are elite engineering units. Their specialties are tunnels and they have experience. We don’t know what technologies they use aside from robots they send into tunnels. They are masters in blowing up tunnels. IDF is also dealing with drone attacks which drop explosives following with mortar fire follow with anti tank missiles and then on foot attacks. Last week more than 10 soldiers were injured in such an event. Also IDF is still working to find bodies from 10/7 by the border. This is done with heavy vehicles and they too are shot at. IDF enlisted the Birds Association in Israel to use raptors to locate bodies. It worked.
Note: It may sound not important but a proper burial is important in the Jewish religion and important to the families.
-Speaker of the IDF said that overall IDF killed 10 high Hamas officers at the level of Battalion commanders who led the fightings and planned and executed the 10/7 attack.
-A commander from the field said that “Hamas is like ISIS, religious motivated and therefor unlike the PLO from the past, they are not raising white flags and therefore it may take more than a siege. Collapsing the Hamas will have to be done physically. (Killing them).
More than a few will try to escape to the south by shaving their beards and dressing on civilian clothes. The IDF is trying to prevent it by slicing and surrounding zones. The intent is to reach out to every place they are above or below and kill them unless they surrender, if they surrender the instruction is to treat them according to international law. We need them to talk and in the 10/7 we had some who felt guilt for their actions and were scared and gave valuable information as to how Hamas is preparing defenses in the areas they lived, how they post the anti tank ambushes and ways of operation. This intel went to the planners of the ground maneuver and therefore the original plan was canceled and the maneuver was replanned. The two weeks of wait for the ground attack was worth it.”
-IDF is using a variety of drones. One kind is patrolling and identifies ambushes from windows or behind walls then another drone or a helicopter attacks. One of the reasons for the delay in the invasion was also that the IDF improved the coordination between the field officers to the air force and navy. A relatively low level officers on the ground can direct jets to attack. Israel is also checking the humanitarian aide. Israel is very carful to prevent fuel from entering because it is used to ventilate the tunnels and also to operate computers and communication systems.
-The IDF knows that for now Hamas has enough fuel. It stole fuel from the UN Aide organization. Hamas is using international pressure, claiming that Israel must provide fuel for hospitals. IDF declines their claim and showing air images of huge fuel tanks that the UN has for the hospitals from which Hamas takes some too. The US and Qatar are saying that providing fuel will make the negotiations for the hostages easier. IDF disagrees. But the most significant aspect of the planing was a determined decision of the political and operational levels to avoid hurting the hostages. Therefor the progress is very calculated and slow.
Hamas divided the defenses to many zones. Each zone is headed by a Battalion commander who lives in the zone. This is way Israel is killing battalion commanders. Israel also knows that the defenses get thicker and thicker as you get closer to the leadership. There are mobile defenses not stationed, it is moving terrorists with anti tank ambushes who move from place to place. The areas are also full of explosives, large and small, some in the ground and some in walls. IDF is using special Intelligence units to coordinate with the Air Force to avoid hurting the hostages and non combatant civilians. IDF officer compares it to the war in Musul Iraq which took 9 months to defeat ISIS. There too civilians escaped to tent shelters. But in Musul the US only operated from the air and the ground work was done by Kurds and Iraqis and Shia Militia.
-Israel is facing a serious problem with the young Progressive generation in the US. It will require a lot of long term work to handle.
-Israel is preparing for a wide multi fronts war. The Defense Ministry has purchased equipment and supplies for 6 billion shekels (1.53 Billion dollars) 3,000 tones of equipment and supplies will come by an air chain and sea. More than a 100 cargo airplanes and 5 ships.
Additionally since the war began the Defense Ministry purchased an additional 6 billion shekels of weaponry from the Israeli industry Including unprecedented purchase from Europe and the US of bombs, missiles, radars, drones, vehicles, ambulances, medial equipment and more. Some was already used. Israel’s Military Research Organization Invested more than 3 billion shekels on developing means of offense and defense in addition to speeding up existing developments. 651 factories were tied up to the war efforts. 57,000 vital employees had a mandatory call. 8,500 vehicles were rented for the war for officers. More than 4000 buses were leased and more than 2,000 heavy trucks and carriers. The Engineering section of the military spent some 1 billion shekels for damaged IDF bases and towns from 10/7.
100 construction companies were hired. The Organization that deals with funerals made 394 military funerals. 712 soldiers were recognized as “handicapped”. The Defense Ministry is also preparing to continue hosting 125,000 who were vacated from their homes. In 359 hotels.
-Protesters to stop the war on Hamas blocked a US Military supply ship in Port of Oakland by locking themselves to the ship. How did they let in a Navy base with Palestinian flags etc…
-A Progressive Professor in Vancouver Canada called the 10/7 massacre “an amazing and brilliant offensive”. (Rape, murder and kidnapping is called “amazing”). She looks real local not an immigrant. Ouch.
-Portugal President “roasts” the Palestinian ambassador who complains about Israel. He tells him “You stared it, you can’t blame Israel.”
Note: The 10/7 is causing a very big wave of exposing evil in the world. I mean who can protest to defend Hamas or to blame Israel which is dealing with its darkest moment?
Also antisemites are showing their faces. It feels like a spiritual war aside for Military war.
-Another attack on US base in Syria, by Iranian related militia. I don’t know of injuries but it looks like the Biden Administration is waiting for as disaster before it gives a prepare response.
-IDF attacks an ambulance which had Hamas in it trying to escape from the Shiffa hospital. Of course this is used to attack Israel and Israel insists it has evidence those were terrorists.
-In an official talk to the IDF soldiers Netanyahu motivates them in the rightness of what they do and ends with Deuteronomy 25:17 “Remember what Amalek has done to you”.
Note: Amalek were nomad tribes who lived south of Israel and east and were known for their brutality. They brutally attacked the jews who came out of Egypt. There is a command that goes along for ages. “To remember what they have done.” They became a general word for those enemies of Israel who try to annihilate it. There is also a command to “wipe out its seed (sperm) from the earth”. This order is disputed in Judaism and have limitations.

A family picture. The family of humanity. He is the Ruler of the world, and when a large portion of his subjects cut off babies heads, rape women and murder indiscriminately and have rebelled against his authority, and have trampled upon his law. God has borne with them until they filled up the measure of their iniquity and then he has brought upon them swift destruction. He has/will use his people as instruments of wrath, to punish wicked nations, who have vexed them and murdered innocent civilians, women, and babies.

There is a disgusting logic to the zealous application of brutality. The only way to end the brutality is to end the zealots.
Taking ‘prisoners of war’ doesn’t end anything. They get released and resume their brutality. Arresting and trying them as the criminals they are also fails to end it. Even if they don’t get released, most do, they are portrayed as heroes and used to motivate more brutality.
Japan had a religious figure, for whom the zealous brutality was committed, that could order its end and be obeyed. But until that happened, we had to brutally end the zealots one island, even one life, at a time. And we did so in a costly three year slog.
Should some Muslim religious figure do the same, they will be brutally killed as an apostate. That leaves only the brutal slog as a way of ending it.
But as you report, Israel is ‘better than that’. And as long as you maintain that pride, you will fail to end the brutal terrorists that plague you.
I also don’t believe that you have the wherewithal to defend against all of Islam, nor the staying power to keep it up for hundreds of years. The Kingdom of Jerusalem didn’t have the staying power either.
Don’t get me wrong. I support you. And I support the desire to be ‘better than that’. It is just that being ‘better than that’ doesn’t work. You have to always win. But each victory only buys a little peace before you are brutally attacked again. While defeat ends it permanently.
Israel has lasted 75 or 76 years now. By always winning. But winning never stops the next one. Saladin retook Jerusalem after 88 years. And 104 years later the crusader kingdom was completely driven out. The brutal war against Israel is relentless. There will always be somebody to pick up the cause and fight brutally on. And peace treaties are viewed as temporary respite to rebuild and make brutal war once again.
Remember, brutal wars have their own disgusting logic. The other side is happy to make their people suffer so they can kill you. They are happy to sacrifice their people so that they can brutally erase you from this world. And they won’t stop until you stop them.
I agree with most of what you said. I didn’t say “better than that” that you referred to as pride. There must be a misunderstanding. We have been against the Islamic world since 1948. See Wikipedia “War of Independence 1948” for list of Islamic nations who joined the war.

I keep thinking the US NEA has watered down or is simply not teaching history. The evidence is the lack of knowledge of what Hamas is and where it came from. I remember the days when the PLO was first formed under Arafat and one of the main things is that there is little difference between Hamas and the PLO in that both are still dedicated to the elimination of Israel. In that aspect little has changed in the ROP as I have seen nothing to say they have backed off either.

PS – that’s also why cassette tapes (at 1-7/8 inches per second [ips] playback speed) never succeeded for pre-recorded music. If one has ever listened to a well-made reel-to-reel recording on a high quality tape deck at 3-3/4, 7-1/2, or 15 ips, they realize how freakingly near-perfect it sounds. Tape width and thickness also play a major role in sound quality, track separation or crosstalk, print-through noise when stored over time, and general durability.

Would love to hear a few but unfortunately my high fidelity days are almost 30 years behind me. Can’t hear much above 3500 Hz these days and that’s only my better ear…!

We are very near the end of the time of the heathen; and the time for the LORD to return to His brethren the house of Israel. Paul wrote, that blindness in part has happened unto Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in, (Romans 11:25): and almost universally it is believed, that this word refers to the gathering in of the last of the Lord’s sheep from among the nations. This of course is a lovely thought, but I would like to submit, that the term “fulness of the Gentiles” rather refers to the transgressors coming to the full; when all restraint has been withdrawn by God, which has held the heathen back from finishing all that they have imagined against Him since they began to build Babel; but God curtailed their wickedness by confounding the languages and scattering them over all the earth.
We understand from the Scriptures, that as long as God sees some hope for repentance, He allows space for men to consider their ways; and He in fact withholds them from sinning, if there is still some integrity of conscience. And as we also know from the Scriptures, and see being played out right before our eyes every day more and more; is that those who have had the most opportunity and blessings, of having Bibles, and the knowledge of Jesus having died on the cross for our sins and rose again; have become the worst apostates, and traitors to the most precious faith of Christ, which millions of His faithful saints and witnesses have been cruelly persecuted and killed to bring it to them; but they rather loved their lives in this world.
And it is interesting, how much the apostles wrote and warned of this kind, and about the mass deception of a pretended religion would mark the last days; and how serious it is to earnestly contend for the faith which has been entrusted to us; but still so many cannot bestir themselves out of their lukewarm and sloppy performance of their Christian duties. In spite of all the strict instructions and grave warnings of the apostles and prophets, will the Lord at all find faith on the earth when He returns?
So the times of the Gentiles are coming to a close, and we are about to see the whole world engulfed in fire of war, that will all come to its point of combustion, because of the “controversy of Zion.” There are most important reasons for these things having to happen. First is, that Time Is Up! For all these centuries that the nations have had a chance to hear the word of God and repent, they have made their choice, that they “will not have THIS to rule over them;” and the Lord is not sending to speak to them any more: they’ve made their choice, and now they will have it COMPLETELY!
But as the Scripture says, which we have used for this message; the point of all these things, in the final destruction of the wicked of the earth by the coming of the Lord, is for bringing His people Israel back to Him for ever; and restoring to them the kingdom that He promised their fathers in ancient times. In all the tribulation and trouble that the Antichrist’s reign will be against Israel, and all who are grafted into Israel by faith in Jesus; will be to our salvation; just as it is to the judgment and damnation of the ungodly children of the devil.
And it will also be called into account with the nations; which have for all these centuries persecuted Israel; even while they have wanted so badly just to be accepted as equals among them: Israel shall finally have their eyes opened to Who their real Friend has always been, whom they despised and rejected; and the heathen whom they envied, were never their friends; but actually hated them FOR THE LORD’S SAKE. God’s gifts and calling are without repentance for Israel; and though their land was full of sin against Him, He never forsook them, or changed His mind as to them being His people. I vaguely recall the song from the 80’s, but what Mike is doing is a whole ‘nuther level.
This is pretty, and for me as just a listener, it seems mighty complex.
Using a Stones song as an example, somebody once explained to me how a drummer often keeps four different things going on at once. It is interesting to see something similar explained for a guitar player. And he can only use two appendages. (I didn’t see him using pedals.)
I think the guitarist is using 9 appendages (5 on the right hand and 4 on the left (the left thumb being under the neck.). 😉

Kiddo found a faux black leather jacket that was very form fitting with a cute silver zipper for $50. She snapped it up and that was one less Christmas present on my mental checklist. She also found a cute Purdue jersey and a pair of leopard Van tennis shoes.
She needs to get back to work, so she spends less and earns more.
It’s so weird when they become adults in the blink of an eye. Disconcerting and reassuring all at the same time depending upon the wave of emotion that is superior in that isolated moment.

I write my recipes down and have a three-ring binder for my popular, complex ones. The standard recipes kiddo is with me in the kitchen, and we work together to prepare meals learning what different spices bring and how to season meats and vegetables using as little as possible, so that all the flavors of all the elements are presented.
For instance, a favorite for salvaging not so flavorful carrots:
Boil fresh carrots cut in coins. Add about a teaspoon of sugar and cut crystallized ginger cubes with the carrots in the water. The ginger softens while cooking and is pungent, but the carrots still retain and enhance their flavor. Drain the water off and then add a dollop of butter at the end before serving and mix the melted butter throughout.
Works wonders especially for bland tasting carrots that may not be flavorful to begin with, yet you don’t want to waste the root vegetables.
My mom’s custard pie was famous within our family. As long as I could remember mom’s pie was hands down the best tasting I’d had. Every time I visited home I always asked mom to make one of her custard pies . . .
Fast forward to ’08. Mom is in her late 80’s and in a nursing home. My cousin was going to make a custard pie and visited mom, who was rapidly declining. When my cousin asked her aunt how much vanilla to use, mom just smiled and said “Oh, a little bit . . .”

I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Today, our little farm to table diner “Max’s Cubbard” closes.
The matriarch, Mary, who ran it at the spry age of 81 years old has come to terms with a forced retirement. They will not renew her lease. She fell while on vacation with her sister causing a brain bleed a year ago that has not been properly tended to.
When we were last there, her capacities were not functioning and she mentioned to me how very tired she was. Her staff had quit due to not being paid properly and she was unable to process my credit card for payment. I had failed to bring cash that day and we returned with our cash payment and the diner was closed. We were able to leave our cash with the drug store curators. It also has a very small Hallmark store inside.
It’s the end of an era.
However, there are others who claim to stand in line to reignite the diner that exists in the back of an old fashioned 50 year old, privately owned drug store in the Lebanon town center. It will be a booming community soon with the influx of billions of dollars of investment via Eli Lilly the big pharma company who will be coming in and pushing out many of our valued midwestern farming families.
Bittersweet, as I am not naive to the influx of cash and well-heeled clients who will stream into that small town center and will bolster its economy. There are excellent shops, distilleries, homecrafted beers, and farm-to-table restaurants there. We will watch carefully our little secret IGA who has the amazing and reasonably priced butcher shop with all locally sourced and processed meats that find their way to those restaurant tables… and to our own.
Carmel, Indiana is called the “Beverly Hills” of the Midwest. Within 10 years, the city planners want Lebanon to be Carmel 2.0. It is located right on the I-65 vein that leads commerce up about 2.5 hours north to Chicago.
I am mourning the changes I see coming and wish to retreat out to the woods to hide from them. I have been working for 35 years and I am still only 50 and the changes in society and its moods are dramatic. Alas, there is nowhere to retreat to and nowhere to hide. Change is coming. It is up to us to calibrate those changes and prayerfully save our Americana way of life. Old Glory, baseball (or basketball if you’re a Hoosier – RIP Bobby Knight), and apple pie.
May God be merciful on our country and may the invaders’ minds be turned to realize that they are swapping one culture of slavery for just another culture of slavery. They are not brought here under honorable pretenses. May they taste the freedom we know, fall in love with our culture and our experience, and may they fight alongside us to preserve it. May we educate them into being good Americans for it is unlikely we will be able to expel them back to their countries of origin… and thus we must think of ways how to fight for our culture. Can we use the weapons they have formed against us… for our own good? I believe we can!
May no weapon formed against our Republic prosper and may every trickery of the enemy turn on them and land to their ruin seven-fold. For it is OUR GOD Who Saves and Who Will Have every knee to bow and every tongue to confess that Jesus Christ Is Lord.

‘There’s none so blind as those who will not see’ is a proverb that means that you can’t force understanding on someone who is choosing to be ignorant of a specific truth.
‘There’s none so blind as those who will not see’ is a proverb that means that you won’t ever succeed in making someone accept or understand something if they are too unwilling or stubborn to notice or learn.
The proverb is sometimes written as follows:
“There are none so blind as those who will not see. The most deluded people are those who choose to ignore what they already know.”
An example of this would be if your best friend were dating someone that treated them terribly. Maybe their significant other was always saying cruel things to them, doing things that were purposefully hurtful, or even physically hurting their friend.
There is quite a bit of resemblance between ‘there’s none so blind as those who will not see’ to a verse in the Bible: Jeremiah 5:21. This verse reads:
“Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not.”
In this verse, the idea is not that the people that have eyes and can’t see are actually blind or that the people that have ears and can’t hear are actually deaf, but that they are unwilling to acknowledge the truths of the world. This ends up leaving them morally impaired and ignorant.
It is also similar to Matthew 13:13:
“Therefore I speak to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.”
The phrase also resembles the Biblical verse Isaiah 6:9-10:
“And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear you indeed, but understand not; and see indeed, but perceive not.
Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.”

No one wants to be willfully ignorant, but we all might be guilty of being blind to things that are right in front of our noses from time to time. This phrase nicely sums up the experience of trying to help someone or tell someone something true and obvious that they are unwilling to accept.
