I was born in Dundee, played football in Dundee and was there 5 years ago when attending the British Open Golf tournament at Carnoustie which is 10 miles or so up the coast.

I know watching grand kids and friends grow up today they have so much material good and parents are obsessed with trying to make their kids happy.
Of course there are many kids in the U.S. that don’t have parents with the resources to provide stuff or even parents that care..
Anyway, our society has become a mess and our educational system is fanning the flames of sexuality, identity differences, privilege differences, etc that further divide us and create hatred.
I don’t have a good feeling about how the western societies are going to end up in a very few years and we are doing it to ourselves.
Maybe we just had it too good and it’s payback time from the rest of he world.
I believe we ( as a society) have become so focused on the “Happy” that we forgot that it is “The pursuit of happiness” that offers the reward
Its that whole “Hard times make for hard people” scenario, having played out once again.

Reality is, humanity NEEDS some hard times, and we are gonna get them, good and hard.
And yes, there WILL be a major thinning of the population, as so many just will not be able to adapt.
And, the strong (“hard”) both physically, psychologically and spiritually will adapt and survive, despite ‘civilisation’ collapsing all around them, and emerge from the rubble, to start the whole process all over again.

It is happiness in the Greek telos sense – what is the life best lived?

Of all the countries in the world whom I thought would be tough minded conservatives and staunch defenders of their sovereignty, it would have been Scotland. Not saying he didn’t push those points, but I’m waiting until he gets down to business for real and see where he lands. Yes …I have wondered about his answer to the funding of Ukraine……I kinda looked at it like he was using the funding (limited, Unlimited) as a concession (leverage) for some really big asks? ie the Border being shut Down? Maybe I am way off the mark but we shall see. This may be the only way to get the whole caucus to go along with him or he wont be able to even do the important things.
Something about him (Mike Johnson) makes me think of Mike Pense and how he spoke while VP. I don’t see/hear a ‘fighter’ in him. I don’t even see a ‘deal maker’. We can only hope he is both.
Not sure a “Fighter” is what we want for SOTH, although we certainly do not want a RINO.

Could you please post a link or add some context to your post? My biggest concern with Johnson is that he appears to be supportive of sending US money and possibly US troops to other countries to fight wars that are NOT in our national interest so I am very interested in seeing specific examples where he is discussing this subject.
There is also the concept that you don’t play poker, while holding your hand with the cards facing out.
As I have pointed out, one way to finesse the attempts by the Uniparty to finegle more $ to Ukraine, is to hold up funding for other things, in order to get it.
We have seen them do this, time and again, holding “disaster relief” or “funding the military” unless they get their priority that we don’t want.
Even with seperate bills, they can do this, demanding a passing of more $ for Ukraine before any other bills, for instance.
And, if RINOS stand with DEMS, they outnumber the (questionable) “MAGA” or “Freedom Caucus”.
I am all for forcing the RINOs to further expose themselves, and for a deadlock.
I do NOT see funding of Israel as a gun to “our” head, and can not think of ANY imperative, like preventing a government shutdown, that is a compelling reason to send any more $ to Ukraine.

Not long ago at the height of fear over the global pandemic the US underwent a change that many people argued would never happen. For years I have heard people say that authoritarian controls in America are “tinfoil hat conspiracy theory” and doom mongering – All the prepping, all the talk of community organizing, all the guns and the gear and the training were for nothing.
Then…the covid agenda hit like a freight train.
The real problem is in the old guard of Neo-cons still influencing the path of the Republican Party. These are people who happily ally with Democrats behind the scenes, they have close ties to establishment elites and their loyalty rests in the hands of globalists. If the globalists want war, then the Neo-cons want war and they will do anything to get it, including create it. That’s how it works.
And this time around I think they’re going to get what they want. The Ukraine event failed to lure Americans into supporting direct intervention (a majority of Americans don’t even support funding for Ukraine), but Israel is another matter. There are very old and tribal implications than pull on the souls of conservatives when it comes to the conflicts in the Middle East. There are religious factors, yes, but I suspect this is overblown by critics who think evangelicals are running the show. This is not reality.
The Christian mandate has nowhere near the same influence it did back in 2001. In fact, churches have become so weak that they are now being overtaken by LGBT infiltration and trans activism. This never would have been tolerated 20 years ago – They would have tarred and feathered such activists back then. If this sort of thing is being allowed to happen right in our backyards today then you can be damn sure that religion is not the driving force for war overseas.
No, when it comes to Israel and the implications of war the concern is once again rooted in cultural erasure. To be fair, it’s not a paranoid delusion. Western culture is in fact being systematically dismantled and mass immigration is a part of that agenda. It’s also true that Islamic ideology is completely incompatible with western beliefs including the concept of individualism. Muslim systems are authoritarian in nature, that is what Sharia Law is.
So, when conservatives see the potential for the fall of Israel they associate this with the fall of the west, and they will seek to stop it if they can. Beyond Israel is the concern that an invasion of Muslim extremists is already well underway in the US with open border policies becoming the norm under Joe Biden. And here is where the trap is set…
