Segovia quickly became a favorite — I bought everything of his could find. Basically, Segovia led me to classical guitar . . .
When he performed in Houston, he appeared in Jones Hall.
Now picture this . . . a solitary chair with a foot rest . . . A single floodlight illuminating the stage. And then the greatest concert guitarist in the world simply walks on stage . . . and begins to play. . .

Garrison, the sound qualify is remarkable for a video of this age. I bet those in attendance could hear a pin drop. I’d be willing to bet Segovia was one of the most self effacing artists to ever perform. No airs whatsoever. Simply a man who loved his art. Just wonderful!
Mornin’ Bet, love. 🙂 He always affected a performance humility while on stage. But he had a reputation for being something of a tyrant in his master classes. 1/4″ tape, common at the time, had some sonic limitations.
I can imagine. Trying to draw the best out of those who were fortunate enough to have that one on one with him. I love watching masterclasses.
I’ll leave an example here, one I saw and was completely blown away by…that of Maxim Vengerov, a violinist of phenomenal ability.
He performs at the opening of this 50 minute video. A man who inspires with his instruction to those chosen to benefit from it.
If you listen to nothing else, the opening where he is playing should make you gasp in amazement. He is an artist whose emotions add another level to every performance. Astounding!

My American friends,
If you read my long post from yesterday of Retired General Yitzhak Brick then it is important that you read this long post too. In fact the TV interview that I posted with Brick had a second part which is important to know to be able to have a better picture and in order not to be left with a bitter feeling. I am turning you into experts with sources who are at the top of Israeli military system.
I warned you that General Brick may exaggerate with pessimism and you want to “judge for yourself”. I was hesitant to even post it here because of the pessimism but there were some important information that is beyond a mere opinion.
The following part is with Retired Brigadier General Amir Avivi. This man is leading a movement of ex-senior and very senior Military people who analyze and recommend the government and people on national security. They are right wing politically (not lefties). This man was also in a role that gives him vast knowledge, he knows the weaknesses and strengthens of the IDF closely. He is younger and may be more involved in present time. He knows General Brick and had a major dispute with him on the subjects involved. I think you may learn another aspect of what can happen next. He is also on the verge of what could be confidential. He is more realistic and positive.
Here is my translation. I hope it’s clear enough for you my friends:
I had some time ago a strong argument with Brick. Not about the threats. On the threats we agree and we did submit the strategic evaluation and it is not different than what Brick said. We told the political level, “there will be here a Yom Kipur War or a Six Days war, decide what you want”. They choose Yom Kipur and we got Yom Kipur. Up to here all is well, we agree. But, I have to say something. And it’s the difference between my approach and Brick, as someone who was Deputy Critic of the Defense/Security of Israel. no one knows better than me the readiness situation of the military and I want to say the following: The IDF invests all its 70 billion Shekels that it gets yearly only on security. It is doing it in order of priorities.
It made an insane empowering in many fields and to do so, it weakened some other fields. Brick is very much focusing on what was weakened but he doesn’t say what was empowered. And many things were empowered. And I told him the following then and I am saying it now, and all should remember it and listen: When the ground forces will start moving, the whole world will see what is the IDF when it enters a war. It will be an example that is unparalleled. It will be a very big victory, I am not saying it won’t be hard, I am not saying it’s not a challenge, but I suggest we don’t scare ourselves. They won’t stand against us, they have no chance against us. It’s not even comparable. We will enter and we will wipe them out, it’s clear to everyone and we are doing it in an organized manner. And I am saying that when it’s relating to operations, a professional Officer who doesn’t know the details of the operations, the situational evaluation and data, has nothing to say about the operation.
You can talk in general terms about some principles, like in order to finish Hamas you must conquer Gaza. But the timing and how to enter and how many will enter we should leave for the commanders. They know what they are doing and I trust 100% in the Chief of Staff and Defense Minister that they will conduct the war well.
Interviewer: But he also said that it can get us into a regional war. With Hezbollah and Yemen and Militia in Syria and Iran and he says that Israel is not ready.
Answer: I don’t accept this. At this moment the North Command is fully prepared.
Interviewer: The internal homeland? The Airports bases.
Avivi: what does it mean we are not prepared?. We are as prepared as we can be. That’s what we have. Look in 2006 (Lebanon war) we didn’t have Iron Dome. We didn’t have Magic Wand (an anti mid and long range missile defense ) we didn’t have Arrow 3 (anti ballistic intercontinental missiles and long range and atomic missiles.).
Not only we have this. The power build up that Israel did is insane. There is nothing like it in the world. On top of it all the American ships are here. And by the way it’s in a complete coordination and preparedness for an air defense of Israel skies, if there is a moment of full air defense preparedness, it’s now. Once we are done with Gaza there will not be left any more rockets in there or anything. Then we will be able to focus efforts northwards. This will be significant because it will not be a multi fronts war.
Interviewer: Hezbollah don’t know it? They don’t know that we want to take care of them after Gaza?why would they wait after they stated for months that they will “Unite the fronts” ?
Answer: It’s a great question and there is something I am not succeeding to come to conclusion about. There are four large restraints on Hezbollah, one is that if Iran doesn’t have Hezbollah it is fully exposed, they can’t give up on Hezbollah so fast.
Interviewer :You mean the nuke aspect?
Avivi: yes. (IE. Iran knows that if Israel attacks the nukes they have Hezbollah to retaliate and attack. they don’t want to lose Hezbollah).
Also Lebanon pressures them very strongly not to do it. They don’t want their country to be ruined. The third restraint is that the IDF is fully on call right now. It’s not logical that they will challenge us when the whole IDF is on the border. And the fourth restraint is the American ships. And US warned that if Hezbollah enters they will enter too.
But you can say maybe Israel will enter this front anyways and take the opportunity.
So I want to say that I don’t have an answer to this. It’s on a fine edge situation.
But the strategy now is: We are on a defense at the North. We are focused on the south. If we are challenged in the north, we have all the forces there ready and we can handle it. The Air Force knows to handle more than one front. But now we are focused on Gaza.
Interviewer: But Brick is talking about the West Bank and inside Israel Arabs. He is saying West Bank settlements are not prepared and Inside Israel too.
Avivi :They had one chance to surprise us with all directions concurrently. It was on Saturday 10/07 in the morning. The moment it didn’t happen and Hamas attacked alone, the surprise is over.
We called in 300,000 soldiers, we are also establishing other arrangements, all the Border Police is called in, all the Police. All the settlements are armed. Everyone is ready. This is the moment people. We are now ready.
Interviewer : Brick said there are only 2-3 standby units in each settlement.
Aviv: We have there large forces. Internally and externally lots of forces. We are ready.
Interviewer : I see that the IDF now uses air attacks also in the West Bank. A change of policy. No nonsense.
Interviewer: We just heard that Saudi Arabia is condemning Hamas. This is big deal. I think they also said it will not hurt normalization.
I am glad General Aviv is here because we are getting many worried messages after the interview with Brick. Brick is not nuts I think what Brick said is good because we have to be prepared for the worst case scenarios. This is where we should be. Specially now. The Arabs want to slaughter us and everyone gets it now. There is no problem in being prepared. Mentally and logistically to the worst possible situations.
What Brick said was important. Even if it’s scary. We need to be prepared.

What I found to be the most crazy information, is that the people living near the border with Gaza don’t all have guns in their homes, ready for an emergency.
Not that they would expect such a big emergency, but I would expect a possible breach of the border by a few terrorists is likely enough to stay armed.
Even if they could not win with so many terrorists as Oct 7, at least they could go down fighting.
Going forward, I really hope this policy changes.

I don’t know what was the weapon’s situation. I know there were standby units inside each village and most of them were overcome. I don’t also know what weapons. In the West Bank the settlers are mostly religious and right wing. They live amongst hostile Palestinians and therefore are armed. In the areas of Gaza that were taken, those are mainly Kibutz villages (a kind of communal Socialist villages) which are mainly of the left and center left politically. Higher than average left. The left is known to be less armed. Oddly enough there is a peace activist who was kidnapped. I just listened to a testimonial of someone who was going to a kite event where they wanted to fly kites with messages of peace for their Gazan neighbors. And yes. Israel learned. There is a massive change in weapon license regulations and lots of weapons are going to the more sensitive zones. There is a wave nation wide of people who are getting armed and it is encouraged and Israel just did a massive purchase of ARs to be distributed. Things will never be the same again in Israel.
I just find it so remarkable that Jews in Israel want to make friends with the people who call for the complete and total annihilation. I know it happens, but it is not something I will ever understand.
Anyway, I’m glad that this gun policy will change. Sad that it took this horrific event to do so.

Hi, Rach . . . One reason I like living in Texas is that we changed our gun laws several years ago. Ir is now entirely legal to openly carry guns.
Even better, it is also entirely legal for me to carry a concealed handgun (I own several) without also having the onerous carry license that was previously required.
The net result of having a larger population of armed citizens is that armed criminals are much less certain of success. They don’t know who is carrying and who isn’t There have been numerous examples of bad guys making very bad mistakes.
Yes – I am in Australia and have been unsure about where I stand on guns for many years. I would always say I was on the fence. But mostly because I never really looked into it.
[I am at the age where the guns were ‘removed’ from Australia when I was just at the end of school (??). But we have more guns on the streets now than before they got rid of them.]
At some point, maybe 5+ years ago, I saw in America, three young men confront an elderly lady. She pulled a gun out of her purse and ended it – with the threat, no shots fired. That’s the moment I became a true believer. And since then I have never looked back.
As for Israel, especially those near the Gaza border, they live in a place where there is a chance of severe danger. I would have said that before the Oct 7 attack, as we have seen Gazans try to breach the border many times.
But I also accept David’s explanation – they are a bunch of lefties who want to make friends with the enemy.

Have you ever heard this name: Mosab Hassan Yousef?
He is the son of one of the Founders of Hamas. He was in the West Bank. After being in an Israeli prison and watching Hamas torturing Palestinians and killing some he was recruited by the Shabak (Israeli spy agency in the West Bank and Gaza ).
He was the most valuable asset and prevented countless suicide attacks and murders. The Shabak gave him the name “The Green Prince” (Hamas uses green). In 1999 he became Christian. He worked for Israel from 1997-2007. He left to the US in 2007. At some point the US almost deported him back to where they would kill him and his Shabak handler came specially to the US and used connections to help him stay. He wrote a successful book “Son of Hamas”. He is a very wise and great guy. Notice that he uses the term “we” as if he is Israeli. After all he worked for Israel. The man is very brave. He is very wanted by Palestinians. To the point now, not many know Hamas better than him. Notice I always bring you people who know things directly on the ground. There are two ends of the spectrum to enjoy and one is the dark of the moon far from any source of man made light pollution. The desert or the high mountains are the place to be to view the stars at such a time. There appear to be thousands of more visible stars at such a time and place.
The full moon is when all the nocturnal movers come out and can be seen without artificial light. The deer and the antelope play at night.
There is a bit of cloud and the moon is down but managed to see a few “shooting stars” a few moments ago. Have a good day.

In the New Testament, though the apostles wrote when they were away from their churches, and thank God they did, they preferred fellowshipping with other believers in person. Paul wrote, “But since we were torn away from you, brothers, for a short time, in person not in heart, we endeavored the more eagerly and with great desire to see you face to face” (1 Thessalonians 2:17).
More can be communicated face to face. Eye contact builds connection and trust. Touch adds depth to relationships, either by shaking hands, a pat on the back, or hugs. The early church greeted each other with a holy kiss (Romans 16:16). The experience of worshiping together builds unity as the message is received, songs are sung, and prayers are prayed for each other.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near” (Hebrews 10:24-25).
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many have gotten out of the habit of going to church. Pray for believers to value and return to church attendance. And remember Jesus’ promise, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them” (Matthew 18:20).

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I consider Paul Rodgers one of the most talented musicians I know of. He started out in the late 60’s with his band Free and their hit song “All Right Now,” later forming his signature band Bad Company. They will not be charged the 4% if they pay with cash or personal check.
The business will keep their customer without squealing to the feds on their purchases. No one likes a snitch.
The customer’s will be able to make purchases at your place of business without their purchases being tracked and will save 4% at the same time.
The checks will most likely be converted into a digital transaction but will not carry all of the details of the purchases. The detail is primarily what the feds are after.

You’re right about Londonistan, as we (my Brit husband and I) refer to it, along with many others. The drawbridge hasn’t been lifted against the invaders. Lots of insincere, weak chatter from the “Conservatives” in power about how “Something MUST BE DONE!!!”…by the only people in the position to do that “something.”
