It’s flies. Some of the flies are probably biting flies. They flex the muscle where the flies are and they will leave. That’s why they have long tails, too. With their tail they can keep most flies off the back half of their body.
You might notice pictures of horses that have like a mesh cover over their faces. It’s to keep the flies off of their face and out of their eyes.

Many years ago they learned they didn’t really need cattle guards. Just paint white lines on the road close together like a cattle guard and horses won’t cross it either.

Every horse I have known will listen to a whip. You don’t ever whip the horse, just show it to them , as he was showing her the flag, and they move away.

I have four rescue horses and they are very sweet and friendly, but, it is always nice to watch someone really good with horse sense handle a problem.
My mom’s friend bred Trekehner horses and these were raised in pasture.
It is a long story but we took them in when she died about 8 years ago, so they wouldn’t be put down.
Now they have a barn at night and we work with them at times and leave them out as lawn ornaments daily.
They have been together their whole life and are now in their 20’s, so we have a herd really.

It looks to me like a biblical situation going on. The feeling amongst the soldiers and specially the reserves is of unity and love, purpose and national duty. Take a month back and Israel was a mess of division and hate, left against right, secular against religious, it was borderline Civil War. Maybe this is the lesson that Israel had to learn the hard way. I have not seen something like this ever. Maybe in other major wars but I was too young to understand.
In Israel before war many of the top singers in the country go to the front lines to uplift the soldiers. Also many of the holiest rabbis go to the front to bless and guide prayers. Prayers from the Bible related to “You should not fear because God will be with you and fight with you and protect you and Israel. “

I decided to try some of his (unsophisticated) music … and fell in love with Neil Diamond’s Greatest Hits, ca. 1974. I loved his textured voice, and his broad rage of musical style and tempo. One of favorites … after being “hotboxed with his Greatest Hits cassette” …

I had a very close relationship with Conservative Jewish family back where I used to live. I ate over their house for lunch/dinner many times, and even got to go to a Yankee game with them as the father was a huge fan. I admired them very much. His wife’s family were Reform left wing and her brother hated his brother-in-law. I knew them as well and the difference between the two was dramatic.

Jewish tradition holds that God revealed His will for humankind to the prophet Moses and he wrote it down, compiling the first five books of the Hebrew Bible. This was given to the ancient Hebrew people as Law. What part does that writing play in the modern life of a Christian?
Knowing God is the most powerful spiritual tool, and studying the law of Moses, while you are not subject to its requirements, is a great place to discover what He values. Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,‘ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father in heaven” (Matthew 7:21).
Christ fulfilled every requirement of God’s Law, taking the consequences for you, so you may live in freedom. As you seek the Lord today, to know Him, honor Him, and do His will, you should find yourself in alignment with the essence of His Law, because it is based on His unchanging nature!
Thank God for the freedom you enjoy because of Christ’s sacrifice on your behalf. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you into deeper knowledge of God and His ways. Pray for American churches to remain focused and true to God’s unchanging character in their teachings. Ask God to draw Americans’ hearts back to Him and that legislators create modern laws that honor Him.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

In the Jewish religion there is a term “Zadik”. It means “righteous”. It is related to a human who is fulfilling all or most of God’s duties. It is a human who because of his righteousness is considered as very close to God. There aren’t many in the world in each generation. It is believed that because of their many good actions and closeness to God, they have better reception of their prayers and blessings.
The “shofar” (horn) sound is believed to make the prayers more likely to be received. The following is one of them who is conducting a prayer and blessings for the soldiers before they go to battle. There are others also in other bases. There are a few prayers that are told before battle to have Devine protection.
So this would be like Abraham.
It’s a whole subject. Yes like Abraham. But we don’t have prophets any longer in present time. It is believed that there are very few of them in every generation and they help to keep the forces of evil in check. Some of them are hidden and conducting normal lives.
Some look like them but are not really what they appear.
When you meet a real one they can sometimes bless and heal from the worst illness and I can show you pages and pages of testimonials of miracles related. The man in the video is considered as one but one can’t be sure. It’s not a science.

My big migrating Warbler flock that came in last Thursday included one of these Northern Flickers. I don’t see these here so it was a migrant. When Passerine (perching) birds migrate at night, their flocks contain many different species. If you watch for a cold front in September/October/November and have a full moon, grab a pair of binoculars and if you are lucky and patient enough, can see the birds migrating across the illumination of the Moon.

Okay…here is the story I promised you, Colkitto.
After Chris’s and his siblings’ mother died (ovarian cancer misdiagnosed and therefore not treated by the deplorable GP and NHS) her ashes were buried on my sister in-laws’ property under a small tree not far from the house. Later they were interred with those of their father in the small town cemetery years later.
One day a few weeks after in the cold of a Welsh winter, Chris went up to his sister’s and found her in her farmhouse kitchen. looking through a book of British birds, flipping through the pages, engrossed.
When he asked her what she was looking for, she told him that during the night she was awakened by a bird which had somehow found its way into her upstairs bedroom.
And as it was winter, she had her windows closed, and there was no way in. None.
His sister knows all the birds which would frequent her place, but she didn’t know this one at all. She opened the window against the freezing temperatures and this little thing flew directly out and landed on a branch in the small tree under which their mother’s ashes were buried…and sang its heart out. In the middle of the night…then flew off and never
returned.
And that’s what she was looking for in this encyclopedic book of birds.
They never found anything remotely like it.
They had their own interpretation of this remarkable incident as you may imagine. So do I.
His mysterious ways abound. We are all pretty certain this was one.
Given what you write of your beloved grandmother, I knew you would like to hear this one…😘

What an amazing story. I have been told by those who know that birds/animals are used as avatars by our loved ones when they cross over. That incredible and beautiful story reinforces that. I am really really curious as to what that bird looked like to try and figure it out.

One of my “Grail Birds” Eskimo Curlew. Rumored to be extinct but there have been sporadic sightings over the years. Once they darkened the skies, now no more but perhaps a handful, maybe.

I don’t know about avatars and I am not a superstitious person at all. I have had birds, especially raptors and most especially owls warn me before.
Once a great horned owl flew across my windshield as I hurried home too fast from a late shift at Cheyenne Mtn in Colorado.
I braked hard to avoid hitting the owl and just behind him was a herd of elk standing stock still in the roadway and filling the fields on both sides. If I hadn’t been already hard on the brakes it would have been a huge mess for them and probably injury for me..

I would like to share a small story…of a Cardinal visit to a shrub under my kitchen window…the male came and chirped and chirped while looking at my face(?)…the female came by and perched close to him and chirped a bit…they hung out with me for about 5 minutes or so…not influenced by any of my movements or my voice when I talked to them…I am convinced it was my mom and dad stopping by to check on me….

But as with all things, times move on, and we are told all has changed in the little town which seemed impervious to such a thing. The people thankfully have not. They accepted a brash American at once, and for that I will always love them.
My memories are all the sweeter because I was planted there unexpectedly and knew it was a gift. There was not one day which went by when I was driving to work from my tiny village (6 mikes away) to work through some of the most gorgeous countryside God ever created that I didn’t thank Him for where I was. Then I was able to deliberately make my mental pictures to keep. I feast on them now and am grateful.

And yes, while we are too many times sidetracked by life and its attendant demands of our focus and time, something such as you described should draw us up short and help us to slow it down…if for nothing else than to take note of the small things, which are often the biggest.
