I had a friend long ago who was an expert needle pointer. She needle pointed Christmas stockings for her three girls.
I lost contact with her after I moved to the UK, but one of her girls remains a close friend of my first born…
My friend, as I will always think of her, went on to have a great number of grandchildren, and I’m sure she needle pointed stockings for them too…which will be as treasured as your quilt. Especially this Christmas as my friend died this year from a massive stroke.
What a blessing your grandmother was. Bet she out all her love into each quilt.

My Mom and Dad had so many magazine subscriptions on the round table between their chairs in the “garden room” (our family room/breakfast room so to speak but it had lots of windows and sliding doors). Sunday mornings after breakfast especially were spent reading together there, our various things. We were all avid readers following Mom and Dad – there was one particular magazine I especially loved, “Ideals” – it seemed that it came on a quarterly – seasonal – basis – so many wonderful photos of farms and country roads during autumn, especially – a feast for the eyes!
suejeanne, you would have died for the British ones! By the time we moved to the States, I had a library of them! The autumn and Christmas issues were the best. The old fashioned decorations. The colours! The rural cottages! The scenery!!!

Homecoming went off without a hitch and was a joyous occasion!
On the way there, daughter’s phone blew up with three boys texting and calling looking for her. I thought an emergency happened and they were trying to reach her, but no, they were anxious her arrival and I wondered what we were walking into. She laughed and was dismissive about it, but daughter’s phone never goes off like that and she had given me a few numbers of her friends in case of emergency. We arrived to a goofy group of four young men waiting for her outside the school. All friends, like brothers to her, and they laughed and strained to say hello to me through the passenger window.
Daughter would not allow me to get a photo with her gang… she was too embarrassed and just wanted me gone.
All the other girls I saw had dates and very revealing dresses that left little to the imagination, or took one’s imagination to horrors where parents shouldn’t have to go! But none had a GROUP of gentlemen waiting for them outside the front door. I wonder if those girls noticed that??? That you don’t have to reveal yourselves or be made up like a reality television star for attention.
My daughter wears high top sneakers and basketball shorts 24/7. She dressed modestly, high collar, dress to her knees, with her crucifix proudly showing, and her athletic shorts underneath… and her friends thought her beautiful and were surprised to see her in a dress. If she didn’t have a date, it was because she wouldn’t choose from among them.
By the time I picked her up two hours later, a half hour earlier than party end, she was ready to come home. The huge crowd bothered her and the students crammed together in a mosh pit of sorts which gave her anxiety. No dancing for her, just pizza and people watching with her group of friends.
I’m one proud Momma.

She did her own hair flat ironed and smoothed with three different oils to tame the curls into order
That gorgeous hair!!! Her crowning glory! Sich a beautiful shade of red…if she was anything like our granddaughter, she had as much fun getting ready as she did actually being at mock (as it is apparently called now).

Is she the one taking flying lessons?
Yes.. not enrolled in pilot school yet but has almost 2 hours in her flight log with 3 separate flights. 2 Cessnas with analog controls and 1 Cessna with digital.
We’ve got to do some saving to get her fully enrolled.
She’ll look to start working again next summer.
Maybe she could join a local flying club? Most don’t require you to own a plane.
You certainly honor your gift by your love, appreciation and devotion.

Our granddaughter wore a demure one for hers at the same length as Savannah’s. We have some treasured photos and a couple of her posing with her friends, all of whose dresses were of the length (???) you would see on competitors in an ice skating competition. She, like your precious girl, knows what is appropriate and has a mom (and grandmother 😎) who wouldn’t suffer one moment’s hesitation to say “Go out in that? Not on my watch!” if it were otherwise.

I don’t know how those other girls retain their modesty. One unintentional trip and there’s nothing left to the imagination. I was gobsmacked.
A friend of mine is close to the Kardashians and they’re very enmeshed in the Hollywood scene. I don’t dislike the K-crowd as human beings, but it’s hard to protect the sanctity of women when they are portrayed so candidly.

I intentionally tried to not say a lot about it, but this was exactly the grand entrance I was hoping Savannah would have. She made (with a little help from mom . . .) her own magic happen, giving herself memories she’ll have for the rest of her life. As her friends attested, your daughter is a beautiful young woman. I am so proud for you both!!
And OF COURSE those other girls noticed! Speaking from the standpoint of a former principal . . . I bet Savannah’s story will be all over school come Monday. It’s just to perfect to ignore . 🙂

She had no help from me, as she didn’t want any of my help. She did her hair all on her own with no input from me. I merely reminded her how proper ladies sit when in a dress, knees together, legs swept to the side. She was in the car and was sitting half indian-style, so needed the reminder. The shorts underneath gave her a little too much confidence. Ha ha
I just pray each of those young ladies and gentlemen had a wonderful time and all were safe.

Field greens with Italian dressing, fresh pears, and English muffins with creamed cheese, muffalleta olive salad, and smoked salmon.
With a mango banana smoothie infused with emergen-c super orange and 800 mg of magnesium between the two of us.
Maybe have a dirty martini later, but not now.
It’s chore day and possibly a trip to the gym if we can fit it in.

Good morning all!
Yesterday I go the yard mowed among other things. Had to pull about 30 of those little flags marking gas lines up and then return them to the right place afterwards. They mark the ground with marker paint so it is easy to know where they go.
It took me the better part of 4 hours to mow my acre. Every five years or so the neighbor to the south’s pine trees that border my property produce a bumper crop of cones and well over half of them have fallen. It takes a lot of passes with the mower to grind them up. And my big cotton wood is starting to drop its leaves and I had to mulch them too. After grinding up the cones and leaves I raise my mower deck up to the 4.5″ max height and go back over the places to disperse the clippings.
The white marker paint designating where the excavator is to dig when construction starts was getting very faded and so after mowing I re-marked all those lines using a large spray can of white marker paint I had bought earlier for that purpose.
I also washed some throw rugs in the washer and hung them out on the cloths line to dry. Took them in before I mowed out by the line.
Today I clean out the fridge and do shopping to stock up on stuff for the house sitter while I’m gone to get Sherry. Then I have about 40 castle rock to remove that serve as the border for the river rock around the house, to salvage them for use later. If I don’t remove them the excavator would tear them up.
I will use that castle rock around the bottom of my good shed to prevent animals from getting underneath it. Never had any problems with ground hogs but once had a skunk move in under there for a couple months.
Not trying to salvage the river rock. Been there and done that before and it simply is not worth the effort.
Also have a glider swing that I will get Steve to help me move.
I am as, I write this also doing a couple loads of laundry. Will strip the bed and wash the bed cloths so everything is fresh for when Sherry comes home. The guest room bed where Jim the house sitter will sleep already has clean sheets and is ready for him.
I have notes for the house sitter to read and post it notes to post on the washer, dryer, water cooler, dish washer, etc for his information in case he wants or needs to use them.
And of course I will need to pack tomorrow and make sure I get plenty of sleep before I leave because this ole truck driver intends to put on his headset and listen to audio books as he drives straight through to Daytona Beach.

Something I’ve noticed over my long life.
I have known many, men and women, who by any standard would be considered attractive. Until I came to know who they were…the pages inside their lovely covers. And then they were no longer pleasing to the eye.
I have met people whose covers were plain, nothing extraordinary …and some for whom the word physically attractive wouldn’t apply.
But then as I came to know THEIR pages, their good hearts, their kindness, their unselfish love for others, suddenly these wonderful people were transformed into some of the most beautiful I have ever seen.
It’s all about inner beauty, isn’t it. And to see it, all you have to do is to look into the eyes, the windows of the soul. And that beauty will shine out every single time!! 😌💕🕊

Interestingly, or perhaps inspired, (wisdom) your use of the word “succor” in the second verse (meaning: coming to the aid of) is, I believe rooted in the Hebrew word and festival “Sukkot” – currently running. This is to remember the forty years traversing the Sinai desert prior to the entry into the Holy Land. Miraculous “clouds of glory” surrounded and hovered over them, shielding them from the dangers and discomforts of the desert.(came to their aid) – succor. Amazing. 🙂 I do believe you are gifted with both. Inspiration and wisdom. Bless you.

This is about the fire that destroyed Lahaina, on the island of Maui, Hawaii, on August 8, 2023.
Eric West, a realtor in West Maui (for 12 years, I think – he and his wife, Lisa, and their four sons have lived there) . . . Eric had his youtube channel already going for I don’t know how many years, my Mom and I discovered it about 5 years ago, I think, when Mom was attempting to explain to me about this green light that shows up near sunset in Maui and so I went looking for it on youtube and we found Eric’s real estate channel where he was discussing the green light.
So he has been one of the people on Maui working to help bring connectivity to the area so people could communicate with loved ones, pay their bills, mortgages (with great help from Elon Musk, providing his satlinks). He has been conducting interviews with residents about their experiences during the fire, about police blocking the escape routes from Front Street, the water being shut off when residents were using their garden hoses in efforts to save their homes (as well as the Fire Department firefighters having water shut off).
This new video is about NOAA satellite images from the time of the fire (8/8/23) being “scrubbed” (satellite images re Hurrican Dora would have been available, just as any other hurricane or weather event during any particular time frame. 8/8: gone

Heck!! In the 70s, we even drove down to Mexico City the back way, through all the little villages. It was a trip to remember.

This is another example of our “kinship”. I posted that GoV article on the PT yesterday. The Cultural Marxist immigration angle was really the most important to me and why I was a bigtime Pat Buchanan supporter. I was in the college environmental science classes at that time and all the text books said that Human population growth was the root cause of all environmental ills. Me being me I correctly and Politically incorrectly put two and two together and realized that human population growth in the West comes from immigration. I was perplexed why environmental groups who claimed to be for protecting the environment and the flora & fauna that I love, were not speaking out against it. I became persona non grata to the Environmentalists, though I have a handful tell me they had never thought of that (Gee how about brainwashing?)
What is happening is not only a tremendous cultural,societal, and economic catastrophe, but Environmental as well. I shudder to think what is going to happen when the criminal government shuts off their money supply.
Sorry for saying what I said on this beautiful thread which I usually refrain from posting this on. It is heartbreaking to say the least and I worry for all the good people and of course our plants and animals.

I know it’s going to get bad. I know that we can’t hide who we are, nor would we ever. I know it can, and probably will, cost us our lives.
I also know God foretold all of this. He decided. HE DECIDED when we all were born and when we all shall die. His Ways are perfect.
He determined that each of us should be alive during a time such as this. What great honor we hold standing in witness to these historic events.
Is this what I would have preferred? No, sincerely not. I just wanted to raise my daughter in peace then be sent to sit in an old folks home alone and spend my final days immersed in my books which I’ve no time currently to read or to write. However, God seems to have other plans in mind.
May His Will be done no matter what the cost to my family. I believe His Word and He Is Faithful.
Let’s just say… for a minute… the US government does turn all our forces over to NATO.
