We didn’t go to water aerobics this morning considering what Rah said that my illness the other day may be communicable. I would rather practice caution.
Kiddo is going stag to Homecoming tonight and she’s wearing a svelte, sleeveless, high collar, black sport dress that lands just to her knee and skintone ballet slippers with crystals. I know the rule of dark shoes after Labor Day, but who pays attention to that anymore?
I have a jeweled clutch to loan her to match her shoes.
Her hair is Rene Russo red and as she aged became so curly and unruly! Imagine Poldark! She treats her hair treacherously and flat irons it into submission and wears it back in a tight pony tail. I’m trying to teach her to love her hair as it is, as God made it, because when allowed natural with a bit of arghan oil to tame… magnificent! But if she were to brush it out with a vented brush… afro crazy. Such as the Irish with our wild green eyes and crazy red hair!
On a very rare occasion, she’ll ask me to help with her hair. I hope she does tonight! She will ask and then protest as I head a certain style direction, and then wallah (!) she loves it and confidence soars! Moms know, but at this teenager stage, we can’t let them know we know!
I hope she asks me tonight. I’m playing it cool and standoffish. No big deal while secretly I’m thinking… “Come on!! Let me do it. Let me do it! Pleeeeazzzze!!!”

Looking as good as you describe I’ll bet her singular appearance at Homecoming will be cenematic—hope she makes a grand entrance.

My cane is a replica of a Victorian era gentelman’s “walking stick”. These were as much clothing accessories as actual aids. As soon as I started using it, people–total strangers–began telling me what cool cane this is. Dramatically improved my balance, too. 🙂

Daughter is a beautiful girl. We did end up going to the gym and doing some weight conditioning. Some late teen, early 20 something aged young men there. They would walk around their machines, get a glance at her, and then come back around again. Savannah didn’t notice it, but I did. She is so low key.
I’m gonna need a bigger firearm.
Changes are coming to our little diner at the back of the old fashioned drug store. The matriarch of the place is losing her senses, so dramatic changes are impending. Sure hope we don’t lose that place. They were closing up and we were the last in there, when a West Coast touristy couple came in to gawk at the place. The man exclaimed how he loved it and how places like that just hit him right in the heart. They both smiled so big, like they witnessed a piece of midwestern utopia.
I get along real well with the matriarch of the diner and the matriarch of the drug store, she herself just turned 87 years old, but she is sharp as a whip. The matriarch of the diner took a bad fall and had (has) a brain bleed. It is not certain she’s been released by the doc. Her waitstaff and dishwasher all quit on her, apparently she doesn’t have the senses to pay them what they are due and may not be keeping track of the books properly. She didn’t know how to ring our check – so I helped her with that. Another old-timer, who could barely shuffle along was helping out and took our order. He was 81, but not in good health, either. Sweet guy, though.
In this diner, people just pull up chairs to talk to you. It’s where the farmers go and is only open for breakfast and lunch.
Got me to dreaming a little. I would love to take that place over and keep the tradition going. Maybe kiddo and I run it together? It is Hoosier Americana… farm to table cooking. It is directly across the street from the courthouse in the town square. And maybe, just maybe, I run for office.
If not us, then who? If not now, then when?
I’m just dreaming right now and looking for the Lord’s Direction. That little town is going to go through some dramatic changes over the next 10 years. The leaders want to make it the next hoity toity Carmel 2.0. Carmel is where all the rich people are and where all the high society converge. They are just conveniently (inconveniently) surrounded by farms.
That little city that houses the diner just took over an additional 17 square miles of prime farmland, where Eli Lilly is investing over $3 billion for a new R&D center. It’s going to be a huge, huge change. Track houses are being built up like something out of a stepford wives movie. It is surreal.

And so I’ve been having hard falls. A lot of hard falls. The neuropathy also affects th way I walk. My PT trainer knows all about this.
Re: the little cafe. Big step. This might be a good time to have a long talk with your local banker. Good bankers can often be enormously helpful.

I experienced this in HongKong. My colleague at work had an apartment that has what I would now know as an Esher staircase.
I am in the architecture industry. The staircase freaked me out so much, I actually stayed overnight because I could not figure out how to leave the building. I know this sounds odd.
That staircase is reflective of how much sense the rest of the world is making right now! It doesn’t add up — but it is what it is !

There is a spot like that in Mayodan, NC. My 6th grade teacher told us about it 60 years ago. It is an entrance ramp to Hwy 220N and you’d swear you’re going downhill but you can stop car at bottom and put in neutral and it will roll all the way back up the hill! Walking on it is very weird. Used to be out in the boonies and no one around. They built a Wal-mart out there so it’s hard to safely play with it now!

We have one of those at a railroad crossing in Central Indiana, Jim burns. The kids in our youth would go there with our cars and pretend to stall out. Put the car in neutral. The story was that some kids car had stalled and were hit and killed by the train, so if you put your car in neutral, the ghosts of the children push you away from the tracks.
Certainly just gravity and physics and not paranormal… in that case.

About the hotel?
The Roosevelt is on the books as being owned by Pakistan Airlines. However, all of that is owned by the Pakistani government.
All I know is that whenever we needed approvals, they had to be passed by a retired general from the Pakistani Government.
Currently, the hotel is housing illegal aliens on a number of floors, and has been the site of quite a few demonstrations.
It is right next to Grand Central in NYC.
Despite his other shortcomings, TR is still on my list of favorite Presidents, mainly because it was he that created the National Park System, first in the world. I stood at the hallowed ground in Yosemite where TR met with John Muir, and I like to think that it was during this outing that TR committed to creating the Parks. It’s my lifelong goal to visit as many of them as I can.
While I don’t necessarily disagree about the parks but, Teddy essentially deemed the states that those parks are located in were incapable of overseeing them properly and eminent domained them to the federal government.
Now they might have been a wise investment back then I don’t know, maybe even made money, now they are just a taxpayer boondoggle.

Some basic calculations from last year of 297 million visitors @ 10 bucks apiece equals 3 billion dollars.
The proposed repairs budget alone is almost 22 billion.

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

Hey, I was just shadow banned over at Instapundit after some 20 years of commenting there. I’m not sure why since I was never given any warning or explanation, but I think it has something to do with the fact that on most mornings while drinking my coffee I would browse Twitter/X and post links to about 30 to 40 Twitter/X posts on Instapundit’s daily open thread that were mostly in opposition to the Biden regime’s stupid proxy war against Russia. This didn’t sit well with the warmongers who very often flagged my comments and threatened to have me banned. At this point I assume the warmongers got their way.
Since Instapundit shadow banned me, I’d like to do the same thing on the open thread here. So my question is, are there any reasons of etiquette or comment policy that would get me banned from this blog if I posted 30 to 40 links to tweets on Twitter/X every morning?

There’s a lot going on the world that can’t or don’t make it onto the front page of a blog. I figure open threads are useful for bringing attention to these other events.
I did read the comment guidelines and I didn’t see anything that would indicate a problem with posting a bunch of tweets on the open thread. So figured I’d just ask the question and see what the regulars here thought.
What I’m gathering is that the “Open Thread” is oriented towards non-political stuff, and the “Presidential Politics” thread is oriented towards the political stuff that I’m more interested in posting about. So I’ll start posting the political stuff on that that thread instead going forward.
The open thread is my first stop of the day where I’m lifted by the devotionals, inspiration, music, light hearted chatter, prayer, and a good morning to a new day.
I might suggest enjoying this blessing of a thread for a few days to see if your posts contribute to the uplift we all seek and enjoy.

You have something like a 15 minute window after posting to edit a post.
After the post has been completed, look for the “gear” icon, for lack of the correct word, to the right of the bottom of the post.
Click on that and you should see a box with the word “edit” in it. Click on that and the post should open up for you to edit. You can delete everything in it, but if I recall right, others tend to leave a period as the only remaining thing. Some will simply post “deleted”.
Hit save, and you’re good to go.
