Just for fun earlier today I went online to see what the latest Prada fashions were for men. They were so silly that if I had been there I would have had a hard time keeping a straight face.
The models wore shorts, with silly shirts with long dangly sleeves covering their hands. Why ? that’s so impractical. I would hate to be wearing those shorts on a cold day despite the oddly warm- looking jackets that did not seem too quirky except for the pairing with shorts. I never got around to looking for the ladies fashions.
The emphasis on shorts made me laugh (inside) as it reminded me of a hilarious episode of ‘Bertie Wooster’ Set the 20’s 30’s from the British series based on P.G Wodehouse’s books, dealing with a character called ‘Spode’ who had started a fascistic silly group of local male misfits, called the ‘Black Shorts’ They were big on growing lots of potatoes and riding bicycles with umbrellas( sort of an early comic ‘green’ group. Delightful English humor.

These outraged felines look as if they are about to sue. After all it is evident that a contract has been broken. I shudder to think what will happen to the upholstery in that home should there not be an immediate switch from plastic containers (ugh so tacky!) to good old fashioned cardboard boxes, so warm and even chewable.
The upholstery will be recycled into fashion first apparel for the wife of the occupant squatting on our White House.
As for the buckets? You are looking at moggies who were promised 5 star accommodation when they booked their rooms and then were downgraded to one (no star attached). Not happy😉

All cats are mad about boxes. I once looked after a young little cat ‘Misha’ for a friend. While the cat was staying with me I introduced her to her first box,(because I have had many cat friends over the years, I know of their fondness for them.) She was so pleased and spent the next three weeks playing in it. sleeping in it, and finally when she discovered the plastic bag of catnip her person had left for her, with some of her treats and toys etc. she got high as a kite in it. When she was retrieved and taken home of course the box went with her and she had it for several years. It was a much-loved and son to be battered cardboard box. She was an indoor cat then and seemed to be intrigued that the view from my apartment was not the same as the one she was used to. She was really looking closely. The world was bigger that she thought it was. Her ‘owner’ remarried and she may not be an indoor cat anymore and may even have a feline companion. That makes me very happy.

Cats are so decent and honorable. They feel that they must contribute to the well-being and happiness of the family they have adopted, and deigned to room with. They are basically very kindhearted and want to show their love and affection for the whole family when they drag in their contribution to the family larder. Occasionally a deceased mouse or ex-feathered friend, or even a grass snake will be left proudly by your feline resident for you to add to the family food supply.
Cats want to contribute. They are intelligent creatures and know things are tough out there.
Their feelings are hurt when the result of the night’s hunting is not received with respect and appreciation, so always shower them with the gratitude you would feel if their offering were a couple of hygienically-wrapped T.bone steaks. You can discretely dispose of the mangled corpses later.
Cats love you, so if the night’s hunting was less than they had hoped for, they will bring a replacement gift. As they know humans are really odd, and wrap bits of cloth around themselves. They hope to please you by dragging, sometimes with difficulty, colorful socks, men’s or ladies underwear and stringy bras. randomly home.
All their love offerings should be received with enthusiasm and delight, as they were intended to make you happy. After all, if you had been up all night dragging clothing off washing lines that trusting neighbors had left outside, and then dragged the acquired objects home in your teeth, which is difficult when you keep tripping over them, how would you feel if your efforts to please, were rebuffed. Always, appreciate a gift from a cat, despite the cultural differences. It is given with love. Cats are awesome!

GO NIPPER!! I’m sorry about the sleeplessness, G. Lately been experiencing the same off and on. Too much rattling around in my head.
We are on a regimen at night now which helps most of the time. Fifteen mg melatonin, a cup of Sleepy Time herbal tea, topped off by a half glass of whole milk. If it doesn’t work, then another 5 mg fast dissolving melatonin under the tongue to seal the deal. No problem next day waking, no “hangover”.
We are into the final stretch of granddog sitting Maggie. Her mother returns tomorrow. She’s no trouble at all, but this time she has been unsettled which disturbs me for her. And like Comet you’d swear we deprived her of all sustenance for days on end. We can’t sit down to eat without Maggie hovering, tapping me to let me know she is there, and staring.
Even when she is two rooms away and no matter how quiet I am opening whatever, she has bat ears and suddenly appears a’beggin’…

As for Nipper, there are just some days like that when a sportsman isn’t on top of his game. Especially after a long hard week at school. He’ll find his mojo next week I’m sure.
I was remembering when my then four year old son and his team were starting to learn the game.
They moved as one battalion up and down the field, all together following the ball😂. And it was my son who broke ranks in the middle of the field when a grasshopper caught his eye.
He stopped and scooped it up…and excited to find it ran off the field to show me, leaving his battalion to keep moving from one end of the field to the other. Nobody scored by the way…good times.
Lol, I tell mine something similar all the time. Doesn’t sway them at all.
LOL! Well, it kept the boxer out of the kitchen where my uncle usually ate his meals. All of the dog except the nose. But then again, my uncle had trained the pooch as a bird, rabbit, and wild boar hunting dog. That was one fearless boxer.

9/23/2023 – The necessity of the New Birth, and its hindrances
Continuing from, “Dealing with stubborn and difficult people, and staying true to your message from God” – 9/22/2023
John 8:31-47 “Jesus therefore said to the Jews who believed on Him, If you abide in My word, truly My disciples you are; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. They answered Him, We are Abraham’s seed, and to no one have been in bondage never; how say You, You shall become free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say to you, that everyone that practices sin is a bondman of sin: and the bondman abides not in the house *for ever (into the eternity); but the Son abides for ever: if therefore the Son shall set you free, really free you shall be. I know that you are Abraham’s seed; but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no entrance in you. I speak what I have seen with My Father; and you therefore do what you have seen with your father. They answered and said to Him, Abraham is our father. Jesus says to them, If you were children of Abraham, the works of Abraham you would do; but now you seek to kill me, a man who has spoken to you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not. You do the works of your father. They said therefore to Him, We have not been born from fornication: one Father we have, God. Jesus therefore said to them, If God were Father of you, you would have loved me; for I from God [am] sent out and am come; neither have I come from Myself, but He sent Me. Why do you not know My speech? Because you are unable to hear My word. You are of [the] father the devil, and the lusts of your father you desire to do. He was a murderer from [the] beginning, and in the truth has not stood, because there is not truth in him. Whenever he may speak falsehood, he speaks from out of his own; for he is a liar and the father of it: and because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me. Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I speak the truth, why do you not believe Me? He that is of God hears the words of God; therefore you hear not, because you are not of God.”
We first presented these things only from the perspective of Jesus having to deal with a most difficult and unreceptive kind of people. The particular focus was on the greatness of the Lord’s nature and temperament, and of His faithfulness and ability to deliver the word; and bring the message that was especially needed to be heard.
Now then, we will concentrate specifically on the message itself; which is, The necessity of the New Birth, and its hindrances; most commonly attached to misguided religious beliefs, that have become a cultural tradition. Things that were at some point not properly understood, or perhaps intentionally misinterpreted; that eventually cause people to trust in the system of traditions and methods; while remaining ignorant and alienated from the Spirit of God.
To put all these things in their right view, we need only read through the couple of chapters just before and after, to understand how hard the Lord was working to testify and to teach the things of the kingdom of heaven to the Jews in the temple. What then comes out in this their interaction, brings to a point what is at the root of the conflict; which is their hardness and unbelief. That which the Lord patiently tries to communicate to them; about their need to be Born of God; kindles up in them instead of rejoicing for the Glad Tidings, hostility and resistance and debate.
Eventually, as the Lord patiently deals with their questions and objections one by one, some began to capitulate, and to get a spark of light in their eyes, and “believe on Him.” So the Lord very kindly and fairly fanned the tiny spark of faith, and gently added more kindling, saying to them, “If you abide in My word, truly then are you My disciples; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”
Everything that the Lord says to them seems more and more to trigger those who oppose; so they can have no other reaction than to question and contradict. As the conversation unfolds, it becomes very clear, that what Jesus is teaching them, is exactly the same as He said to Nicodemus; in so many words, that they must be Born Again. But insofar as they have absolutely zero part in their brains to think spiritually; they can only argue with Him, out of their carnal reasoning. And the first thing that scandalizes them, all centers around their presumed entitlement to God’s approval and preference, solely upon the fact that they were Abraham’s flesh and blood; while completely ignorant of, and alienated from, the nature and faith of Abraham; for which he was called the friend of God.
Jesus first has to address the root cause; and so says to them, If you abide in My word, then truly shall you be My disciples; and you shall know the truth, and the truth will set you free from sin. Thus shall you be made Abraham’s children, and God’s children, and therefore heirs of eternal life.
So where did the controversy and debate come from? It came from false notions about entitlement to God’s approval and preference, solely upon the fact that they were Abraham’s flesh and blood. The doctrine itself was true; but not in the way that they had interpreted. And so when the Lord Jesus presented the truth to them, they did not know it; and worse still, was rather something that directly contradicted and rejected, all their long history of traditions of pretense, which they held as their claims to superiority for being Jews.
Jesus told Nicodemus, “That which is born of flesh, is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit.” So also He tried to explain to them here, that “If God were Father of you, you would have loved Me; for I have been sent, and am come from God . . . He that is of God, hears God’s words.” In other words, that you act out the nature of what kind you are, after the nature of your father. Our nature and our works are the fruits which tell what kind we are.
As the more Light floods in, the more clearly is revealed the extent of the damage, and its source. The source is the devil; the father of lies, in whom the truth is not; who holds the hearts and minds of men by deceit and pride, so that they are not able to hear the word of Jesus, and have no entrance in them for His words. The damage is the rotten nature of the hostility and hatred, of hardness and unbelief, that has no entrance for the word, nor for honoring the Son of God who brings us that word. The Light has come for the very reason of cleansing away the evil, so that the truth should set free from sin.
So then, let us take it step by step: First believe and obey, and then we’ll see; and when we see, we will be set free from sin; being set free from sin is the evidence, the fact done, of one becoming a child of God. Believing in Jesus, we will abide in His word. As we continue in His word, God gives us knowledge and understanding, so we shall know the truth. As we know the truth, and walk in truth, the truth sets us free from sin; and so shall we have been released by the Son, and made really free; so we can also abide for ever. (see Deuteronomy 15)
If one’s ideology and religious beliefs make him unable to hear the words of Jesus, nor to understand His speech; there is only one source behind this evil, the devil. If one’s beliefs have therefore made him NOT of God, but of the devil; there can be no power to save him from sin, nor give to him eternal life. Any form or method of godliness, that has no real power to cleanse the conscience from dead works, and to deeply and radically change the nature of a man; is of the devil, the father of lies, and eternal enemy of the truth. Jesus the Son of God alone is the Anointed Savior of the world; and no one can come to God without Him. Except a man be Born Again, Born From Above, Born Of GOD; he cannot see or enter the kingdom of heaven.
The tree is known by its fruit; and the Christian is known by his or her nature and works, who their Father is.

When you are going through a difficult season, sometimes comfort comes in the realization that all things pass, both the good times and, thankfully, the bad. Christ brought comfort to His followers, grieving His anticipated departure, by reminding them they would see each other again, and it would not be a transient joy!
Many believers miss the core reason for future joy… resurrection! Yes, to be absent from the body is to be present with Christ, but the completeness of that joy is found in the knowledge that one day God will dwell together with His people on a physical Earth, sinless, and without suffering, in a culture governed by Christ. New, perfect bodies and a new, perfect Earth are not just a wish on a bad day! It is God’s active plan for His people in eternity.
Revelation 21 and 22 provide a glimpse of eating, drinking, working, playing, discovering, inventing, worshiping, and traveling in a redeemed world full of wonder without any of the bad “stuff” you encounter today. And all of it hinges on your physical resurrection. Jesus came to Earth as a human, suffered, died, and rose again so you could get the idea! If you are in Christ, then life on Earth with God is your future and eternal joy is on your horizon. Let that thought encourage you.
Pray for God’s people in America to discover their full identity and future in Christ. Ask that those serving the nation in leadership who have not discovered the knowledge of God’s plan for eternity would hear and believe, incorporating God’s truth into their decisions, work, and life.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

Here is the Northern Harrier the “day” version of the Short-eared Owl. They call the adult male the “gray ghost”. I saw one here last year but the field he was cruising through on migration is now high density housing to destroy the Republican voter base here.

What a sweet little guy. I’m missing our robins. I haven’t seen any in weeks. Our hummers are still busy with all their aerobatics. It’s been odd this spring and summer. Very few mocking birds and no night singing. I’ve always enjoy listening to them in concert with the toads, frogs, cicadas and crickets.
I so love listening to my nature chorus. I’m sleeping with my windows open now which is a favorite of mine. Many times I have heard strange calls that way
Bald Eagles are just incredible when you see them. I’m in love with your british Robin though. Funny my Bluebirds who I have not seen since their last nesting back in July showed up at my bird baths, around 7 or so. Earlier my Mockingbird was playing bully with the Chickadees & Titmouses that were trying to use the bird baths. I have not seen any migrants pass through my yard yet, though my local bird club was talking about Nighthawks a few weeks ago which I have not seen in a few years. They are so cool to watch fly

I’ve loved books all my life, many a times when i was a teenager my friends would be calling telling me to come on out and I would stay in as I was in the middle of a great book I could not put down. How many times a great book and my animals family hanging around me picked me up when I was down. Too many to count. It saddens me, but it also saddens me that more kids are not encouraged to read and do not know the magic of books. So sad Auntie.

The Weather Channel’s Absurd ‘Hot’ Propaganda • Watts Up With That?
Here at my Hoosier home about 35 miles NNE of Indianapolis the leaves on the maple trees have already started turning yellow and red. The last of the tomatoes from the Garden have been picked and it is done for this year.
The Fox squirrels are busy burying nuts for the coming winter. The branches of the huge oak in the neighbors yard dropping acorns a plenty. The Robins and most other migratory birds left weeks ago. Even the barn swallows that nest in the unused chimney on my neighbors garage departed last week some time. I have no doubt before long we will be seeing and hearing the flocks of Geese and Ducks migrating.
All the signs around me are that summer is over as the last week of September is about to unfold. And from what I am seeing in the longer range projections from sources other than NOAA, this winter is going to be more severe than we have had for a good while.
Nothing at all unusual here as far as weather this year, except it was a bit more humid during the Dog Days than usual and a lack of powerful thunderstorms this spring. We had only one small tornado outbreak to the south of Indy this year.
And yet day after day I see articles of weather and climate doom on my newsfeed and read gibberish and believe that BS.
I hope you are right and they are wrong.

My doctor thinks I’m being snarky when I answer her smoking question with all my life. I was born into a family of smokers except for my mom. They smoked in the house and the cars. I’m still a smoker.

Alas, I don’t pay as much attention to Fort Worth politics as perhaps I should. But it seems that I don’t hear the daily recap of tomfoolery coming out of that City Hall, at least not to nearly the extent that I do Dallas.
Tarrant County has always given me the impression of a quieter, calmer place. Dallas is always busy; always something going on, always lit up at night. Me, I like it quieter. But, the convenience of quick access to my work outweighs that, at least for now.
I’m one of those lucky few who in a way feels blessed by my work. I work in a job identical to FedEx, but a different company. Over the years I’ve covered, in detail, much of the Metroplex, drilling deep down into many of the neighborhoods throughout the area. This area has so much to offer when you get down to the street level; some really lovely little neighborhoods in some really unexpected places. And I love the fact that I’ve had the opportunity to see so many of them.
But if it weren’t for my job, I would never have seen any of it.
Who was it that said, “Love what you do, and you’ll never work a day in your life?” Well, yeah, of course as with any major corporation, there’s going to be a level of B.S. and unfathomable policy decisions and unwarranted limits on workers – in other words, just like most other major companies in the country. But all in all, I do love my work. My personality and the job requirements are a very good fit. I’m a road warrior. I was born to drive! After all, my Pop was a race car driver before I was born, so you could say it’s in my blood. 🙂

Forgive me for being a truth-teller here … but the vast majority of dogs available for rescue at my local Pounds are all Pit bulls and Pit bull mixes. Sorry. We have a real problem.

Same here. When I was at the Humane Society shelter and we got Buckley, there was a sweet female I would have taken, but we did not want that big of a dog! There were more American Bull Dogs than any other breed by far!
Same here in my area, all medium to large dogs with a large mix of pitties. Here pit bull breeds aren’t allowed within the city limits, county only.
And here in CA … we have periods of drought followed by periods of wet … same as it ever was, same as it ever was …

The steaks were superb, the wine turned out to be fare but at the end we had a sip of Metaxa, the Greek equivalent to cognac. Even Mom enjoyed a sip for a nightcap. <3

Tropical storm Ophelia has been a real pill. I had not read a lot of warnings about this storm, except that it would move up the east coast.
Eastern North Carolina: After 24 hours of constant rain and east wind, the direction of winds began to change. The wind began to be more westerly and after another 4 hours of rain, it is now mostly wind, mist, and cloud cover. My wind gauge is my okra plants……LOL! It is now okra leaning to the west northwest at a 45 degree angle – serious wind.

It’s still blowing and wet mists – after 32 hours of solid wet. Sure is dreary with forecast of raking the whole yard plus picking up the branches and trash that are too big to rake.

Making green stew. Canned some green beans in ’20 that were getting old and stringy. Too old and stringy to eat as a normal side dish. Solution? Food processor on a couple jars of green beans, add diced spuds, leftovers from rotisserie chicken and add a bit of onion and two small cans pinto beans. Green stew. We don’t waste, especially don’t waste the effort of growing, picking, snapping and canning green beans.

Monticello, had never heard of green stew, but it sounds filling and perfect for these wet cool days. I made vegetable soup yesterday with leftover roast, some late green beans, potatoes, corn, butter beans, peas, onions, okra, and tomatoes from the garden, added store-bought carrots, celery and barley……YUM!

BTW the worst is yet to come from Ophelia for DE and NJ. Northeast wind from the storm will hit around high tide tonight.
It seems to have stopped and is just dumping more and more rain, mist, trash, wind on coastal NC and VA.
As I write this the NHC now has it as a post tropical storm moving at 8 mph. Post tropical storm just means the core has switched from warm to cold. Sandy was a post tropical storm when it did it’s worst damage. But the NHC also says that Ophilia has sustained winds of only 35 mph.
