It’s Cursday and my little man turned a big 16 years old yesterday. Tucker is a Chiweenie who we rescued from a shelter 10 years ago. He is still dancing and prancing for treats, patrolling the yard perimeter several times a day to keep us safe from any passers-by. He is such a precious, loving little guy who stole our hearts at first sight. Our lives would be empty without him.

Puppy Tails….

My newbie is now 54 weeks old and a little stinker. 4 months ago, he made a snack of a 3 prong plug for the lap top. Verified by x-ray…how he got it down his little esophagus, I will never know…plain yogurt and white bread…(should have named him Elwood)…actually a homeopathic that worked in our case…after x-rays and $500 later…eliminated the whole thing and all the pieces.

Fast forward to last week…I found the remote on the floor, with only one battery in it…a AA missing…tore the family room apart, sofa included–

Found an old flat ribbon for my rainbow bridge sheltie…from August of 2016 wedged in the deep confines of the sofa. But no battery…one last go thru and then it was off to the vet…

Something pushed me to check in between the cushions of his doggie bed…while praying to St. Anthony, patron of lost things…and I found it! Thank you St. Anthony, you never let me down!

Just when I think I have sufficiently puppy proofed…I get surprised.

Deuteronomy 18:6-8 “And if a Levite come from any of your gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose; then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do, which stand there before the LORD. They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which comes of the sale of his patrimony.”

Luke 12:33 “Sell that you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that fails not, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.”

Luke 18:22 “Now when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, Yet you lack one thing: sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow Me.”

Sale – מִמְכָּר – (mim-kawr’); [something] from selling, merchandise; from surrender: “. . . of his patrimony,” indicating an estate inherited from father or ancestors, heritage.

Sell – πωλέω – (po-leh’-o); to be busy, trade, barter (as a peddler), sell.

If we come “with all the desire of our mind” to the place which the LORD shall choose; with what measure we mete, it shall be measured again to us; “pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall the Lord give into our bosom.

The Levite is already the chosen, from out of all the tribes of Israel. The Levites were not given any inheritance among their brethren, but were to be given cities and suburbs, out of every tribe, in which they could dwell and have their livelihoods. Their inheritance is the LORD, and the service of the holy things of the children of Israel.

The Levites were taken out of the tribes of Israel instead of all the firstborn; and were set apart and sanctified unto the LORD, the tithe of the people whom He had redeemed. For all the firstborn of Israel were the LORD’s, because He had redeemed the whole nation unto Himself; but He chose the tribe of Levi to be near to Him, and to serve, instead of every firstborn of Israel. Thus it was their charge of God, to keep the Scriptures, and to teach, and to judge, in Israel, because of the anointing that was upon them.

Hebrews 5:1-4 “For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. And no man takes this honor unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.”

The priests were taken from out of the tribe of Levi. The Levites were taken out of the whole house of Israel. Israel was taken out of all the nations of the earth. The elect are called from out of the world, for the purpose of serving to the holy things of those people from whom they were taken. We, as Christians, have a sacred duty, and the full authority of God’s having ordained us, to keep the Scriptures, to teach them to the people, and to judge the people in righteousness for God.

John 20:21-23 “Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as My Father has sent Me, even so send I you. And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and says to them, Receive the Holy Spirit: whose soever sins you remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins you retain, they are retained.”

Matthew 18:17-20 “And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it to the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto you as a heathen man and a publican. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.”

1 Corinthians 6:1-5 “Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust (unrighteous, unsaved), and not before the saints? Do you not know that the saints shall judge the world? And if the world shall be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know you not that we shall judge angels? How much more things that pertain to this life? If then you have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I speak to shame you. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? No, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?”

Now we know, that this is precisely the service of Christ’s ambassadors and ministers of the glad tidings to the world. Ours is not like that of the kings of the Gentiles, to rule over others as their superiors and benefactors; but to serve, even as Christ came to serve, and like Him, to give our life a ransom for many. We know that Jesus alone is the Redeemer, and His blood alone reconciles us to God, and washes away sin. But insofar as we are of the same Spirit of the same Father in heaven; we also take the place of servants to give our lives to save the world.

This is the equal portion among our brethren, like that of the Levites. The calling and election is on us from God; but it is still left to our voluntary free will, to “come with all the desire of our mind” into service of our brethren.

Equal portion shall be to every one of us, to eat of the meat of the holy things; “besides that which comes of the sale of our patrimony.” What does that mean? We are all given an equal portion, (without measure) of the calling and election and grace of God; we are all given the Scriptures, and the Holy Spirit into our hearts; we are all given, as it were, an equal amount of the Lord’s money and property, to do His business, and handle His affairs, while He is away. What then each one of us does with what we’ve been given, will be taken into account for what our work and responsibilities will be, when the Lord returns.

All are given the same “one pound” from the Lord; but how much we love the Lord, and how hard we work for Him in that which He has entrusted to us; is for every man to make his own choices. One will make ten, one will make five, and one will not do anything with what the Lord has given him. That is the part “besides what comes from the sale of his patrimony.”

It is interesting, that the Lord used the word, Sell (to be busy, trade, barter as a peddler) in referring to acts of mercy, giving to the poor, laying up for ourselves treasures in heaven; and specifically saying that that would be added to our already common salvation. When He taught His disciples and the crowds about not being anxious for anything of their necessary comforts, and not to be afraid of them that persecute or kill us; he said, Sell such things as you have, and give alms. That means, trade, barter, be busy, with such things as you have, to do acts of mercy!

When the young nobleman came asking what good thing he could do, to inherit eternal life; Jesus said to him, You know the commandments; do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not bear false witness, honor your mother and father. The young man said that he had observed all these things from his youth; but Jesus pointed out to him, that he was still lacking, because he was hoarding all his wealth to himself; and not having any concern for his poor brethren and neighbors. And that was the part that made the young man sad; and made it hard for him to enter the kingdom of heaven: not really his riches, but his selfishness with his riches.

Isaiah 23:18 “And her merchandise and her hire shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.”

Proverbs 3:14 “For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.”

Besides the fact that nothing in this life will last; and nothing we will ever possess can ever make our lives anything better; to give them in the service of the needs of others, so that no one lacks, and no one has over the amount; is but the outward working of what we do with the REALLY GOOD AND ETERNAL THINGS, surrendering them in service for those, out from whom we have been made Christ’s ministers of the glad tidings, and teachers of His word.

Earlier this year, the United Kingdom coronated a new king, Charles III, who ascended the throne after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, their longest-reigning monarch who had served her people for over 70 years. Many changes occurred to that once-dominant empire during her leadership, most of which she neither controlled nor could stop.

Charles III, already much older, will not have so long a reign, but the realm will continue to undergo changes. 

There is a Kingdom over which a Monarch rules that is unchangeable. Our Sovereign, Jesus, is “the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God” (1 Timothy 1:17). As subjects of earthly kings serve in their kingdoms, you are set apart for service as a member of Christ’s Kingdom. “Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you” (1 Samuel 12:24).

Serving the Lord may mean sacrifice or persecution by those who mock the Lord. However, according to today’s verse, serving your King Jesus brings righteousness, peace, and joy. As hymn-writer Oswald Smith penned, “There is joy in serving Jesus, joy that triumphs over pain; fills my heart with heaven’s music, till I join the glad refrain.” 

There is a role in service that the King has set forth for you—regardless of whether it is mundane or grand, it is yours to do. Seek to know and to do the Lord’s bidding for the benefit of His Kingdom today. Pray for the men and women who wear the nation’s military uniforms to do their service “as unto the Lord” so that they might also rest in joy, righteousness, and peace.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

An elderly Florida lady did her shopping and, upon returning to her car, found four males in the act of leaving with her vehicle.
She dropped her shopping bags and drew her handgun, proceeding to scream at the top of her lungs, “I have a gun, and I know how to use it! Get out of the car!”. The four men didn’t wait for a second threat. They got out and ran like mad.
The lady, somewhat shaken, then proceeded to load her shopping bags into the back of the car and got into the driver’s seat. She was so shaken that she could not get her key into the ignition.
She tried and tried, and then she realized why. It was for the same reason she had wondered why there was a football, a Frisbee and two 12-packs of beer in the front seat. A few minutes later, she found her own car parked four or five spaces farther down.
She loaded her bags into the car and drove to the police station to report her mistake.
The sergeant to whom she told the story couldn’t stop laughing. He pointed to the other end of the counter, where four pale men were reporting a car jacking by a mad, elderly woman described as white, less than five feet tall, glasses, curly white hair, and carrying a large handgun.
No charges were filed.
The moral of the story?
If you’re going to have a senior moment… make it memorable.
