Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

R.D.
God morning, Dan Deplorable. Thank you for posting this.
It really is this simple.
God loves us so much and when we can fully lean into Him and trust Him, it makes Romans 8:28 even more powerful.
God works ALL THINGS for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His Purpose.
All things… the good and the bad. Can we trust Him to see through the bad things, to give Him glory and honor through all, and to come out on the other side where we, in retrospect, can see His Divine Provision?
It takes time and trust. I once heard the phrase “Fear is the sin of faithlessness.”
Talk about iron sharpening iron.
God doesn’t promise us a despair free life, but He promises to never leave us or forsake us and He promises a perfect Eternity in the room He’s prepared for us.
Eternity is a long long time.
Praise God through Whom all blessings flow.
God morning, Dan, and to all my friends on this Sunday, the Lord’s day.
There are times for us every one I am sure when we, as sinners, examine our own lives and find ourselves severely wanting. So much so that we can’t see how we would ever be fit for the presence of God. But the unfathomable (to us) depth and endurance of His love is always there and is made manifest by the death of His most beloved and precious Son, Christ Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.
Even in the darkest moments of our lives…and we all have them…this truth is constant. Especially when our words to Him won’t come. Or as has been written in a prayer of Thanksgiving…
“We bless thee for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all, for thine inestimable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ.”
May the blessings of Almighty God rest with everyone in our Tree, those we see and those who are absent 🙏🏻🕊💕
What a fabulous graphic of our jumbled and confusing lives and the words we use to describe our experiences … all jumbled together … and God understands … Understands us. Because of Jesus Christ … God become man.
It was so powerful for me as well, Kenji. I often have prayers just like that. I know what I want to say, but the words are inadequate or won’t come. We are assured the Holy Spirit will intervene for us when that happens. And I find that assurance comforting. Blessings always, my friend 🙏🏻💕
Hello, dear Betsy … Love this!
You’re so right – the Holy Spirit interprets our groaning, sighs, and especially the tears – which are “liquid” prayers.
Seems lately that sums up my praying …
😘😘🌷
S0 beautiful in its simplicity.
He does know!
Romans 8:26
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
🙏🏻🥰
Anyone have any thoughts on China’s banning of iPhones for state employees?
I haven’t seen this take on it anywhere, but I wonder whether it’s another war preparation.
Do think I saw somewhere that they were claiming it was for state security reasons.
Bannon/Navarro seem to mainly see it as an example of China’s predatory business model. (Thank you for your technology; now go pound sand. BTW here’s OUR new phone.)
CNBC types just wonder why Xi would shoot himself in the foot economically, say it makes no sense, blah blah duh. No realization that his actions over the years indicate that ideology and consolidating power matter more to him. Or that he might have a longer-term plan.
IIRC, Taiwan Presidential elections are in January 2024. Some people think Xi is waiting to see whether a pro-China (essentially comprised and in favor of unification) candidate wins, as that would be easier than an invasion.
Anyhow: thoughts?
Jeanne,
I do have thoughts about this.
#1 – My company uses a proprietary industry-wide software. It has a client portal component for account access.
That portal recommends using only Chrome, MS Edge, and Mozilla Firefox for access. When folks use Apple’s Safari web browser… the portal has issues with duplicate payments and glitches. The client will hit “Pay Now”… the system will become inhibited or take too long and they’ll click the button again and again… hence the duplicate processes.
We are a small company however that software is industry wide with millions of users. Plus that portal has to be PCI compliant which is for security measures when processing credit cards.
So there’s something there with Apple and compatibility and even possibly security.
#2 – Apple back in around May of 2023 did a software update where folks’ ios equip was defaulted to Apples document viewing preferance which is WINDAT. Intuit QuickBooks an internationally used and standard recognized accounting software sends invoices and statements in Adobe Acrobat files. Folks with ios devices could no longer open and view their attachments because Apple changed things and converted the viewer to default windat. I had to repeatedly tell folks to download Adobe Acrobat so they could open their attachments. Having troubleshooted this with our clients, they were having cross system issues and couldn’t get into their healthcare records and other online accounts.
When Apple decides to play God and make updates that THEY prefer… it upsets the Apple Cart (no pun intended) with other universally used software systems.
In my humble and not technologically advanced opinion.. this is Apples method of further monopolizing the software market and in many cases could cause serious security breaches.
Don’t we all wonder how it’s so very easy for hackers to steal our identities and mess with our financials? How many are willing to put their bank information in electronic Apple wallets just so the Starbucks barista can click a barcode on your phone to pay, so the customer can look cool? Next an implant in your risk for building access and payments because we can no longer be bothered with a purse or wallet, right?
I don’t believe China is the big bad demon, but I do believe our faux installed- by-coup of a government wants to make China the big bad demon everyone focuses on to draw our vision away from scrutinizing them.. the real world criminals.
Additionally… when trying to identify corruption, just watch what the corrupt are doing.
The department of education… in I would bet EVERY state in our country… all issue Apple MAC computers to every single student. In ours they’re pushing that as far down as into K through 12 now. Everybody gets one.
What is disappearing? Text books. Tangible tactile books that parents can read to help students with their homework. No longer are parents privy to what’s occurring or what smut is being taught in our schools.
Our kids grades and intellects have plummeted. There’s no way to measure WHAT the schools are doing with all their meta data and conversations… especially with their SEL (social emotional learning) that they have now entitled themselves to seek psychological treatment of our children without parental consent… thanks to groups like the Eli Lilly Foundation and the Centers for Disease Control who push LGBT blah blah Gay Straight Alliance clubs.
They are absolutely harvesting our children’s META data and do you really think anything that has a camera and has a microphone is not arbitrary to be able to record???? It was found Rumba vacuums were recording and TRANSMITTING data the vacuums were recording.
By all means, let’s automate everything, so our butts don’t have to get off a couch./sarc
Thanks to the “generous support” of Apple.
Make no bones about it.. big tech is owned by the degenerates and THEY will decide how much you spend, what you spend it on, and how much you’re entitled to based upon your global score that they rate. They’ll also decide whether to pass or fail or kids and what jobs them be entitled to in the future.
Spot on jwoorior!
God morning to you, you not-so-fast-but-adorable -little-sports-muscle-car, you. Lol
Choosing not to see your moniker as the slithering kind. 💋
Haha!
Most students use chromebooks, not macs, because they are cheaper.
But you are absolutely right about the disappearance of textbooks. There are usually a few in classes, but they might stay in the room and be used by multiple classes of students, or the teacher might just pull lessons from them and print handouts. Part of that is due to the insane cost of the books. AP books can be as expensive as college textbooks ( $100-$200). And, as with college textbooks, there are frequent new editions to keep you from saving money on used books.
Some of the textbooks have wokeness or PC issues, anyway; maybe no big loss if they aren’t fully utilized. But then, more depends on the teacher. And some teachers are woke messes.
As far as tracking and data collection, I would say that Google is a bigger problem than Apple. You are probably aware of Google Docs, Google Drive, and Google Slides. All are heavily utilized by school systems. Google has also helpfully (/sarc) created Google Classroom, which is used everywhere.
PS— for those who aren’t aware: Google never deletes a search. Last I checked, they store them all. Which totally isn’t creepy.
(There may be some op-out options at this point, but no, incognito mode isn’t one of them. They store that stuff, too.)
You are right, Jeanne. I misspoke. The kids are issued Apple Chromebooks… all of them.
Also right about GoogleDocs. If you want to take exception to anything in their documents, their “system” won’t allow you to proceed without accepting their criteria.
I write tons of notes in the user defined fields… which are getting fewer and fewer.
They don’t want parents input.
*implant in your wrist for building access and payments… sorry for auto correct.
Geez am I ever sorry for auto correct.
Thank you JWoo; you seem pretty technologically advanced to me. Interesting problems with Apple. I didn’t know those details.
I do think China (or, more specifically, the Chinese Communist Party) is a huge threat. Probably the biggest current threat to human freedom after our own deep state. The CCP has rapidly expanded its sphere of influence all over the globe. Don’t be naive, or think China is as poor or relatively weak as it was in the 1980’s.
Is anyone learning Linux operating systems to get away from the predatory big tech spies Microsoft and Apple? We know Microsoft is slow because it appears to always be running defender to scan your files.
I think that the Chinese are not stupid, nor paranoid. There may sure be some of that “thanks, C-ya” described by Bannon and company. But what seems to me the obvious, is that they (and I refer to the “global South” and BRICS, etc.) are acting on their vision of a world, out from under the bullying and war-mongering West, the United States specifically.
Maybe there’s still time, if President Trump can be re-elected, and strong actions are taken to undo ALL the evil that is sinking our country lower than the grave. But as its going right now, its difficult to say; ’cause we know too well, that there are certain kinds in authority right now, who will sooner destroy the whole world, than admit bad judgment and the wrongs that they’ve committed.
WP’s
Odds and Ends
Kind of sad that you are introducing us to only one side of a Bible bashing argument. Not just because the opposed argument is absent, but also because the pro argument is incomplete without it.
We do not know what he wrote that was attacked. Yet he claims specifics are important. We also do not know the specifics of the attack on what he had written. In truth, we have neither side before us to judge.
From what you post, it appears to be an argument about fellowship and apostasy. But the details are missing.
BTW, while digging around, I found ‘koinonia’ means fellowship, but is translated many different ways in English scripture.
And I am reminded of an earlier posting (by someone else?) of an expert’s claim that the term ‘apostasy’ didn’t appear in the New Testament. True for English but not for Greek. And he used David as an example that the ‘saved’ could not apostatize.
In Acts 21 there is a false accusation against Paul for teaching Apostasy from Moses. In 2 Thessalonians, Paul is talking about men leaving the fellowship of Christ, sometimes because they are deceived. Those are the two instances of the Greek word for Apostasy in the New Testament.
Both are men leaving God, not God kicking men out. But Paul, in Hebrews 6 says that when men do fall away, it is impossible for them to repent. Which is very different than what David said.
And yes, I did comment earlier that most ‘experts’ believe that Paul was not the real author of Hebrews. But how can any of us judge these things? It is even harder to find agreement on David’s existence or kingdom.
There is a very strong indirect argument within WP’s arguments that the Bible is our guide. We are left with a fait accompli. The Bible is what we have.
Yes there are many different compilations of what is in our bibles. And there are many different translations available. Even worse, there are different early versions of the bible. But before there was a compilation called the Bible, there were different writings shared and treasured by early Christians. It took hundreds of years for men to compile these writings and decide which to trust.
So we put a lot of faith in the decisions of these earlier Christians and translators and the historical fates that killed other possibilities of what Christianity was passed down to us. And we struggle with making sense of it all. So disagreement in interpretation is quite natural.
But it is even worse when we can’t even tell what disagreement is being argued about.
Well said, Jim. Although well reasoned, your rejoinder underscores why I never read the commentaries of the religionists here on the Open Thread (or anywhere else for that matter).
Definition of cant
“A cant is the jargon or language of a group, often employed to exclude or mislead people outside the group. It may also be called a cryptolect, argot, pseudo-language, anti-language or secret language. Each term differs slightly in meaning; their uses are inconsistent.”
Excuse my interruption Garrison, but your posting re ‘cant’ reminded me of something, or rather someone I am very fond of.. One of my very favorite people in History (and Literature) Dr. Samuel Johnson (18th C. )
He was the writer of the first comprehensive English dictionary as I am sure you know, and was known for his learning and wit.
I have read a lot of things he said, and his biography etc. and I know he said some things about ‘cant’ He hated it. (I won’t look for an example of his opinions on the subject now.)
But here are a few of his many comments, https://www.azquotes.com/author/7532-Samuel_Johnson
As well as his wisdom, he was also a kind man. He also loved cats ( he has to be a good man!) a
and his last cat was called ‘Hodge’. I have been in his house in London. It is open to the public.
PS. he was a staunch Royalist, and Church of England man. I am ‘unchurched’ as my church, the same Church, left me and many others, for ‘wokeness’ decades ago. Johnson was a complicated man. He had his faults and problems but he was a Christian. I hope to meet him ‘up there’ one day. 🙂
I’ve always admired Dr. Johnson, too. His understanding of how cant was used in language is insightful. As I mentioned to Jim, one reason I don’t read the comments of religionists is because their massive broadsides of words strike me as private metamessages, the meanings of which are intentionally obscure. They aren’t really speaking to us—they are speaking to each other.
This is interesting conversation, Garrison.
I’m trying to follow along, but it’s not clear.
Who do you consider the religionists on the Open Thread.
In your mind – am I one?
Hi, Della. I try to be careful about labels. Here is a specific definition I found on the ‘net. I think it speaks to a very specific attitude and form of communication. For what it’s worth I don’t think the definition applies to you or to most of the Treepers who discuss religion here.
Posted last night . . .
“. . . Israel is the unfaithful wife of God . . .”
This is why I am unchurched.
. . .Definition of a Religionist . . .
An arrogant, prideful, egoistic, religious person who believes his/her religion is the only true religion. They are deeply religious in their dogma/religion to such an extent they believe that is who they are. They are often times very legalistic and think they are better than others, especially other people who aren’t members of their particular religion.
It’s true that labels can be inaccurate.
I saw your below content yesterday – and the convo has followed into today.
It keeps popping up.
Also, today another poster, Tennessee Girl, commented that some of the posts with Scripture have troubled her, because of the discord.
This bothers me greatly, and I, for one, would bow out before dishonoring the name of Christ.
Just wanted you to know, Garrison, that the definition of “religionist” does not describe me one iota.
Actually, I think Christianity is thought of as a “religion.” But it is really a “relationship” with the Lord.
That’s how I view it.
And most Christians want others to know Him and love Him, too. It’s not exclusive.
That’s why I asked … didn’t want to be talking in a subtle language here that others do not understand.
Blessings, G.
Found in the bin… 🙁
Thank you much, Ad rem
🤗
Good definition. In Jesus’ day they were called hypocrites, stage-players. As I tried to draw you into a deeper discussion a day or so ago; I pointed out how that a true work of grace in the heart of a man, will have its fruits in love and humility and faith without hypocrisy: and that the changing of the meanings of words like pious and religion, have heathen in their roots; who hold anything to do with God and being subordinate, in deepest contempt: and taking as an opportunity to blaspheme, the sins of the hypocrite, to justify his unbelief and disobedience in his own eyes.
The most important things in life, are always going to be the most offensive to some people. That does not mean we should avoid those discussions; but contrariwise, to work together for unity and everyone’s good, that necessarily comes from those “hard topics.”
“writer of the first comprehensive English dictionary”
I thought it was Noah Webster?
Oh, my mistake; Webster’s was the first American Dictionary.
Just about every discipline I have ever seen has developed its own language. My mom’s father had helped my dad into the telephone industry. Family get togethers always had interludes when nobody else understood what they were talking about.
My own work had its own terminology too. With minor differences between European and American terms. They are very efficient ways of communicating ideas. But I was always at a loss on how to get those ideas across to people not indoctrinated in those terms. Still, that was good practice.
What I really hate is when some scientific group misuses common terms for their unique new ways of thinking. Or worse, when liberals misuse terms with good connotations for ideas that have earned bad reputations.
And yes, our churches have their own catch phrases and terms. Unlike the liberals this isn’t intended to deceive. (Except in some cults.) It is more like my fellow scientists that had language all our own to express ourselves.
But they do signal group identity too. Funny thing, the term Left has always been such an identifier. The Left uses it to set themselves apart and group together for support. All the imposition of order of thought such as Left vs Right completely misses the friend vs enemy usage of those two terms by the Left. They don’t care what the enemy believes.
Often, discussions between fellow Christians go awry because concepts aren’t communicated in a common terminology. But sometimes people misunderstand and later feel they were mislead.
Sometimes Scriptures can be used to bridge these differences. But there are many different interpretations of scripture, often grouped with different church groups and their unique sub languages. And frankly, most church members don’t really know their group teachings and scripture interpretations. They follow those identified as leaders by the group they identify with. They bear testimony and teach each other in those terms, not to deceive but to uplift and to help fellow Christians.
It might be a useful thing for these unique sub languages to be studied. Lots of work needed. And of course, no one would trust an outsider who just wants to study them.
Thought-provoking insight, Jim. Thanks.
Reminds me of a missionary family in Cameroon that I’ve followed for years.
Today, he just published an article about trying to communicate to the Kwakum people who have NO Bible.
They have so many challenges there.
https://www.haretranslation.com/2023/09/10/mediating-peace-in-village-conflicts-through-stories/
“They are very efficient ways of communicating ideas. But I was always at a loss on how to get those ideas across to people not indoctrinated in those terms.”
It reminds me of something I heard some time ago, from a loved one; who had spent decades in research, and around Universities; and her job was much of the time helping students prepare for their Doctorate.
She told me, that when they have to give their dissertation, and present their Thesis to the Professors and Doctors who would either grant or deny his Letters; if they were able to communicate effectively in language that could be understood by someone NOT in that field; then that really showed, that they knew their stuff.
I think of the part; I think its in Ezra or Nehemiah; or maybe Hezekiah; (I have to look it up!) where the Levites gave the “sense and the meaning” of the Scriptures, as they were being read; which caused the people great joy, “Because they understood the words!”
Nehemiah 8. By that point, the majority no longer spoke the Hebrew that the Torah was written in. The targums were subsequently authored to assist in understanding the Torah / Tanakh.
🙂
May I friendly encourage you to read Psalm 1 ?
“Blessed is the man who . . . sits not in the seat of the scornful.”
It is not possible for man to be truly happy and fulfilled apart from God. And the ONLY way which God has made for us to approach unto Him, in our present condition; is through His Son Jesus; who loved us and gave Himself for us, to save us from our sins and bring us safe and sound back to God.
I’m not sure how you can honestly not tell the difference from the true and the false, from the sincere and the hypocrite; and insist on lumping all together, just for the sake of supporting your hostility to Jesus, FOR NO REASON!
I wish you would think about these things more carefully; and not so easily deny the worth of your soul to God.
You can write to me any time, what ever you want. I don’t think I’m so easy to give up on a cause I think is worth it.
Good day.
Hi Jim, Agree with some of your comments; specifically, it’s only fair to produce both sides of the dispute. However, I remember this particular post and the one Silent posted yesterday.
These confrontations went on for few months, and then, WP left this thread.
I believe the real issue to consider is from the biblical book of James:
“Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”
James 3:1
Teaching the Bible is a spiritual gift given by God for the building up of the saints.
And, it’s a very serious responsibility … requiring much study – and even more: prayer.
Years ago, I taught 11-12 yo girls in Sunday School, and it was a sobering experience.
It terrified me that something I would say – or not say – would lead these precious ones astray.
Even today when I remember them, I ask God to give them His salvation.
Several leaders in my church approached me to be their teacher; I did not seek it out.
These people “knew” me – having been in this church for years.
In internet age – realistically, we have NO idea who is on the other side of the screen.
We do not know how people live their lives other than what they say/write.
In other words, people who “teach” via internet have no accountability to any Godly leader that the readers can observe.
The exception to this: those well-known, respected Godly pastors/teachers/authors who have accountability to those where God has placed them, and a relationship with others in their sphere.
I’ve been around a long time, and only a select few are allowed to speak into my life.
And thanks be to God – He has led me to those I need to hear.
There’s a lot of nonsense out there.
So, I think that is what’s at stake here, Jim?
🙏🏻🌷
Thanks miss Della B. I am happy you agree in part. Feel free to disagree too. I do not, as you say, have accountability to godly leaders.
I am just a wanderer trying to figure things out. Willing to listen, but wary of what others say. And aware that many private agendas are masked, especially amongst all the messages of those ‘experts’ I refer to. Usually academics who make their writings follow their agenda more than the evidence.
Even the accountability part is suspect to me. I am very familiar with some who claim unique authority granted by God. Others have authority granted by those who already claim authority, or by some church body. Lots of different spheres out there. Most definitely striving to follow God to their best ability.
And thank you for undertaking prayerful teaching of our children. Whatever sphere or church, I am sure that those precious children were blessed by your earnest teachings of God and Christ and Salvation.
Jim, So sorry my response was misleading. The only reason I agree partially, is because I don’t know about the other things you stated!
And, the accountability issue I referred to was mainly for Bible teachers here on internet. We do not know them.
I’m like you, Jim…
Leery and alert!
A fellow wanderer, trying to follow the Shepherd where He leads me…
Have enjoyed your posts very much.
Blessings to you, Jim.
🙏🏻🌷
But you should have the Teacher in YOU, Della; and don’t have to rely implicitly on “reputable” church leaders. They are good if we have them; of course, if THEY themselves are reliable: but we are all responsible ourselves to know and understand and do what Jesus says. And the Lord said, that “If you continue in My word, you SHALL know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”
Like I have said so many times, to you and Betsy, and Stevie, and WP, and everyone else; PLEASE why don’t you talk to me, if you have an issue with what I write. I want to be right with the Lord, and also that includes taking care of my brothers and sisters, as far as I know how.
I remember when I was much younger, and was taking the bus to work; I was a brand new Christian, and was very zealous about witnessing everywhere I went; and the bus was a very good outlet for that. Well, two things I want to mention. First, is that it was the “confrontations” and discussions in which there was some disagreement, that forced me to go more deeply into my Bible, AND LEARN! Second; I was walking home from work one day, and a young woman pulled up next to me in a long American car, and asked if I needed a ride. Well, as you would imagine, my alarms were going off, and I was very hesitant to put myself in a compromising position. But for some reason she was very insistent, and I didn’t really feel a threat; so I climbed in. Well to my happy astonishment, she right away started telling me why she stopped. She said that she remembered me from some months (or years) ago, when I was witnessing on the bus; and she was living with a guy at the time, and was just sitting there seething at me in silence. So she wanted to say how happy she was to find me, and thank me for being obedient and speaking up in public; because she has since repented, and loves Jesus, and reads her Bible every day! So, the Lord gave me a very nice surprise, and a comfort and reassurance, that he was indeed knowing what I was doing, and how I wanted to serve Him.
The reason I say this, is because, if its something specifically I wrote, that you take issue with; we should take care of it, and not let anything fester. But if you just have an issue with me personally, I’m sorry; but you might have to take that up with the Lord who made me. I know I have lots of faults and short-comings and am really difficult at times; but we still have to love one another, and strive together for the faith of Jesus.
Anyway, too long winded, as usual. Forgive me. But think about what I say, and talk to me.
Very well written, Jim. I remember that post; it was in response to some things I pointed out in the message he posted; and instead of taking it up on the points I mentioned, he proceeded to write the above.
I was also the “instigator” arguing against the question of whether “apostasy” was ever written in the Bible. The whole Bible is full of examples of falling away and betrayal, and “having once been saved, afterwards destroyed for unbelief.” But as you say, there was not a rational response with respect to the Text; but rather a hysterical defending of, “I don’t know what.”
As far as whether there is at all a trustworthy Bible; I believe that God is wiser and more powerful than every one who would try to hinder what He wants. And He has promised, that He would not leave us orphans; which we know refers to the Holy Spirit being called in to help; but must also mean, that He will never allow that men take away His words, or annul what He has said.
We have the Holy Spirit in us to teach us; and we are Jesus’ sheep, who know His voice. God gives knowledge and understanding, and He also gives discernment and good judgment, to those who ask, and to those who obey.
Isaiah 1:19 “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.”
Also, just an observation; for those who are so determined to fight against God and His word; and put such extraordinary effort into thinking they can disprove or invalidate His Word; its no wonder that God has brought such a famine of hearing His Word to the adulterous Western countries. Innumerable translations and versions and experts arguing ABOUT the Bible; but I think, that to the degree that they are not willing for Jesus to rule over them, and DO NOT OBEY His commandments; to the same degree does darkness and confusion and defeated lives prevail.

This shouldn’t come as any great surprise. I followed Sidney Powell’s excellent investigative work early on and, looking at things from a social science standpoint, it was obvious that substantial election fraud had been and still is being committed. But what was a profoundly significant and disappointing response was the behavior of the establishment media and the courts. They simply didn’t want to know. Trust in the integrity of our government began dying then.
The Great Awakening by the American public…
One day our children’s children will erect monuments in recognition of the great people who lost everything to reveal the Truth to us.
We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude.
We owe our children the stewardship to put a stop to it and turn off the money faucets. If we balance a checkbook, so should they.
Blessings and love to you today, Garrison and her royal meowness, Tink.
Blessings and love you too, ‘Woo. And thanks. Little ‘Tink says thanks also . . . Thought she’d maybe gone walkabout but, instead, found she’d just hidden herself while the cleaning lady was here. She popped up this morning as soon as I got up. Then purring loudly, she sat on the counter, looking over my shoulder while I had my morning Bustelo . . . Dear little kitty . . . 🙂
The media has uncharted lands as far as the eye can see of crime stories about our government and those in it. Easy pickins not hard to dig up a couple of hard facts that bury individuals and their “careers” as criminals. But, they are afraid of being black balled off of fluff stories?
They whine that if they reported the truth all the “important” stories would be off limits. Like “Obama got a new dog” or “Biden fell” how many of those are needed? While crime and corruption drown our country. They sit in the middle of the life boat poking holes in it and crying that the boat is no good? They have no awareness that it is them destroying the boat we are all on.
How do you reason with people like that?
Also, imagine crying about voter fraud in North Korea? It would have the same chance of getting anywhere in the court system. If they even have courts. Those bringing it up are now being persecuted just like any communist nation would.
I think you’re right. We no longer have the hard-nosed editors of past generations. Along with them, the old-fashioned reporters who worked for them are gone too. Similarly we no longer have the determined, independent college and university faculty that we once had. I don’t think I’d last very long in today’s higher-ed world. Glad I retired when I did. Sigh, it was fun while it lasted.

God’s mercy be all over this.
Thank you. I took Sherry over to my sisters. Then a friend of my sisters was also going. Three women in one car with their stuff. Guess who had the adventure of trying to make it all fit?
Now it’s just me and the dogs and cat. Dogs fed, bed made and about time to take the dogs out and then get something to eat.
It will be good girl-bonding time.
Several years ago, I came across the Face Vocal rendition of “The Parting Glass”. After posting it here a few times I recall Betsy mentioning that there were times when the Treehouse Open Thread resembled a church. Although I am intentionally unchurched, the idea stuck with me and so I decided to post the song every Sunday evening as a benediction celebrating both Our Lord and our week’s discussions. This benediction is also a celebration of the many fine Treepers who make up our community. May you all receive Our Lord’s blessings on this night. Be well, Treeper friends and always know that Our Lord loves us and watches over us.

Thank you, my man Garrison❣️
You do (really) know how (and that) you and your words, thoughts, … and songs matter. 💞
God’s continued blessings to you, you wonderful man.💖
Thank you for your kind words, Patience. They are very much appreciated. Be well, love. . . 🙂
In many ways, the Treehouse has become church to me. At 75 years old, it has become apparent to me that God is in all of us. I have found God in everyone who continues to support me and my husband all these years in many different ways. The institutional church didn’t do that. But God in our midst is always there in the love and actions of others. God bless you! I believe each of us has his own ministry.
Truth, Mary Jane. Thank you. And Our Lord’s blessings to both you and your husband. 🙂
Mary Jane, wanted to say “hello” since I haven’t seen many of your posts.
I may have read that you’re taking care of your husband?
(If not, my apology)
Yes, it’s hard being isolated from others, especially a “true” Christ-centered church of believers.
Hope to see you here more!
Blessings to you, Mary Jane..
May God touch you today in His special way.
🙏🏻🥰
Hi Della, Thank you for your kind welcoming words. I don’t comment much as I am caregiver for my David. I glean what I can from you all. It is encouraging and strengthening. It has become a Refuge for sure.
God bless you for your kindness.
Mary Jane, Caregiving is one of the most difficult “appointments” – tho, an opportune time to be the hands and feet of Christ…
May the Lord graciously help you both in the days ahead!
(Love the name, David! I have one, too.)
Be blessed today, Garrison!
🙏🏻
🙂
Good morning, Garrison. Yes it was when I heard this benediction and listened to the lyrics that I made that statement, though I’m sure there will be those who do not agree with it.
But for me, this on the Lord’s day is very much a church and all our fellow travellers in this life who gather here the congregation.
“Congregation for me meaning a group of people of like hearts, certainly more than two or three who call on the name of our Lord and Saviour as we do so. I’d be hard pressed to imagine a more loving, supportive, and worshipful gathering of His flock than I know are here. Surely a blessing so big it’s impossible not to be grateful for it every day.🙏🏻🕊
Personally, I think you have a church when 2 or more believers meet in faith. When the Morman sisters were joining me for pie and ice-cream, we talked about this very thing. Even though we came from very different pathways, we could feel Our Lord’s presence because we were meeting in faith. In my book that’s church. I genuinely liked those wonderful, beautiful young women. Good folks.

I have always enjoyed learning about the history of medicine – what people believed and how/why they did things. Even as a child, I found this topic fascinating.
The history of medicine is fascinating, that’s for sure!
My mom and dad had a subscription to the reader’s digest, back in the mid 60’s…There was a series by a surgeon, chronicling his intern years…I believe he did a spot on burns….and then the articles “I am Joe’s…(fill in the blank)”….but I thank Reader’s Digest for my interest in burns and subsequent career in burn care…
I must have been 8 and avid reader then….where I found and read and re-read those articles…
I was also an avid reader as a child. Unfortunately that didn’t stay with me. Now I only read a book occasionally.
And I only remember a few bits and pieces of what I’ve read about medical history. But it still brings me joy to see more information.
I like the little stories, such as with the skin grafts. I’m not as interested in learning the dates and the big stuff. I really should have gone into a career in medical research – it would have suited me better.
All the way back to the ancient Egyptians. The herbal remedies, surgeries, etc. They were doing their best.
That’s why I like to understand why they did things – it’s the interpretation with the knowledge they had at the time.
And some of the stuff was brilliant.
also, closer to Mother Earth’s remedies.
I still recall seeing an Egyptian skull with a hole in it that was square, if I recall right. Regardless, it was considered surgical.
And apparently, the person lived for some time after the surgery.
I was a kid when I saw this. I’m still a kid, just some years removed from looking like it, but all I could think then, and now, was/is OWWWWWWWW!!!!
In a museum near Niagara Falls in Canada, at least I think it’s the Canadian side, there is a mummy in remarkable preservation.
I mean, mind boggling preservation. This man was mentioned in the Bible. His hair and beard had a reddish hue, and though his skin looked paper thin, at least on his face it was all there.
I dunno how they did that!
Fascinating.
I enjoyed the subject too. My mother thought it was ‘morbid’ 🙂 I remember I had a book called ‘Devils Drugs and Doctors’ I particularly liked. and which led me to read others. I just looked it up. It is still available. used!
I was always particularly fascinated by the plagues that swept the world from ancient times. eg Bubonic Plague or The Black Death (Yersinia Pestis). I was mostly interested in how they affected society, and changed it. Also. How people responded to it, the ones who gave their lives helping others. knowing it meant almost certain death to do so for themselves.
Some responded in entirely different ways. Partying. ‘Eat, drink, and be merry for tomorrow we die.’ Looting. Some by running away (thus spreading it) but most of them died at the side of the road. The major mid 14th C. outbreak changed Europe. It is believed as many as one third of the population died. It is believed to have originated in China after an earthquake. The flea of the Black rat spreads it,
https://britishheritage.com/travel/derbyshire-village-of-eyam-the-town-that-stopped-the-plague
“In 1665, the bubonic plague raged across Europe to Great Britain. The terrifying disease’s arrival on English shores was nothing new. Called the Great Plague, this was the last of the periodic eruptions of the Black Death pandemic that decimated the populations of Europe and Great Britain for 400 years. “
Can’t help myself, jb, but chuckled at the book’s title!
I think the so-called experts are still referring to it! Ha!
And the plague came from Chy-na? Some things never change …
LOL yes Della, some things never change.
😉😉
Rach, this takes me down “memory lane!”
My mother, born in 1930, told me about when she had whooping cough as a young child. It was horrible.
She said her father made a poultice of “kerosene” and other things for her chest!
So, I browsed the ‘net a bit for info. It was cresolene they used.
They tried with whatever available before the vaccine!

Reading the replies I see there is interest in practice of medicine etc. Husband and I had the great opportunity to visit:

“The collection of anatomical waxes was commissioned by Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine to assist the teaching of human anatomy. The collection includes the works of some of best wax artists of the 17th and 18th centuries …”
The artists gave realistic representations with flare. One of the wax ladies, with insides opened up wore pearls. Wished we could have stayed longer but got rushed out, close to closing time.
What a clever idea to teach anatomy, a replacement in a way, for photography. It must have been so interesting. The most ancient scientific museum in the world! I can see why you would want to stay a little longer.

Just watched the movie Puritan, a great documentary on who the were, what defines it, why they were so great and where some of the splits in history of the Church throughout history occurred, and why.
It was a great reminder (we are a forgetful people) that some of the best encouragement outside of scripture came from the great Puritan reformers. Have a blessed and beautiful day.

Thank you, bodinator, for this reminder that the wisdom of English Puritans was – and still is – a treasure!

9/10/2023 – In Him was Life; and the Life was the Light of men
John 1:1-5 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was Life; and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
Just for a comparison, and to get a sense of what shall be the thrust of John’s Gospel; we should look at the introduction to Luke’s Narrative of the Glad Tidings.
Luke 1:1-4 “Forasmuch as many took in hand to draw up a narration concerning the matters which have been fully believed among us, according as they delivered to us who from [the] beginning having been eye-witnesses and attendants of the Word; it seemed good to me also, having been accurately acquainted with all things from the first, with method to write to you, most excellent *Theophilus, that you might know the certainty of the things, wherein you have been instructed.”
note: *According to Josephus, Theophilus was the high priest after his brother Jonathan, who succeeded Joseph Caiaphas; and would then have had the responsibility and charge from God, of keeping the sacred Record, that the Scriptures have been fulfilled.
Now Luke, who evidently was moved by the Spirit to prepare the written testimony of Christ having come in the flesh, and all that He began to do and to teach; and the subsequent resulting outpouring of the Spirit foretold, in the Acts of the Apostles; he confessed to have had perfect understanding from the first, of the things spoken to the people by the “eye-witnesses and attendants of the Word.”
The apostle John however was in fact one of those very eye-witnesses and attendants of Christ; and we know that his witness was true, and that he and all the apostles were given understanding right from the Lord Himself, that they should understand Scripture. So we might ask, why then did he wait to his old age before writing his gospel; since it was evident that he was as much filled with the Holy Spirit and fire as the rest, and was one of those who were in the upper room on the day of Pentecost?
I happen to think, that he may have been waiting for the years of experience and maturity of understanding, to be most confident of his guidance; in order to write worthily, of what it really meant, that the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, had come in the flesh, God had come in the flesh, to redeem His people, and become the Savior of the world.
Each of the apostles and evangelists had there own experience and calling of the Lord; and were all moved by the Spirit in precisely the way God wanted them to write, and what aspect of Jesus’ coming they would express. John’s was to show the divinity of Christ; and so it would be fitting, that speaking of divinity must start with God the Creator; as the Author and Source of all life, and of every thing that has come into being.
It was not necessary, nor specifically to purpose, to rehearse Moses’ writings verbatim; but to expound out of Moses’ writings, pertaining to Christ. John did not need to repeat, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth . . .” but rather turns our attention to the divinity of God; and that His Word is the same divine as Himself, and IS God. Of God, and thus, of God’s Word, all things came into being, that have being. In God, and in God’s Word, was Life; and the Life of God IS the Light of men: meaning, that the breathing of His Spirit into the man’s nostrils, that made man a living soul, IS THE LIGHT THAT LIGHTS EVERY MAN BORN INTO THE WORLD.
When God had finished all His works, with the crown jewel and masterpiece made in His own image and likeness, in perfect and pristine innocence; God looked at every thing and said, It is very good! But then of course, we know what happened, and in fact the very reason for the Son of God coming in the flesh; was to find and rescue man from his sins, and from out of the darkness he was exiled to.
The Light shines in darkness, and the darkness apprehends it not, comprehends it not. God divided the light from the darkness, and so, never shall be put together as one. The light cannot be swallowed up by darkness; but the darkness is driven away by the light. That man is in darkness, is why he does not know the Light when it comes into the world. The world made by Him, does not know Him, because man was given dominion over the world; and what happens to the head, brings the whole rest of the body with it.
So John begins his written testimony, of the things he has seen and known; and from out of all the years of walking with God with the Holy Spirit, and coming to full maturity in understanding; what it means, that the Word of God was made flesh and dwelt among us; and Who this is, who has come to bring us grace and truth. It means, that God’s eternal power and divinity, Himself, His Word, and His Life and Light; have come into the world to save man from his sins, and from out of the darkness and alienation, to bring us back again to God.
This goes on in hospitals among varied other nefarious procedures (abortion is one, euthanesia the other). Even organs and bodies are stolen regardless of whether family member/s have already identified the deceased before funeral home retrieval for burial or cremation.
I have talked about this before regarding what I personally learnt because of 8 months every day in different hospitals from 9 or 10 am to 7 pm for 8 months watchng over a very sick family member. Learnt a lot of things regarding thefts – especially very expensive medications that have to be procured from the hospital lab when the doctor writes another refill/replenishment prescription. At time of refill 2 persons are required to be in attendance (for safety reasons) when a full one is hooked up or administered. The safety procedure part does not prevent theft with some other drug adminstered, when both persons are part of the theft team working the same shift. Same for mortuary.
This is the first ever news of this sort I have seen actually reported.

✟
“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Matthew 26:41 (KJV)
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered !!!
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
COME BACK TO ME
Come back to me with all of your heart;
Sin has separated us – torn us apart;
Long have I waited for your sweet return;
Reconciliation with you – is what I yearn!
While you were out reveling in the flesh;
In the throes of sin – I watched you enmesh;
I sent forth My Spirit – to convict you;
But, you rebuff Him – what could I do?
I sent forth my angels – with a message true;
But you did not hear – you did not want to;
I sent forth my beauty – for your eyes to see;
But your eyes were on others and not on Me!
I sent forth the fragrance – of lilies so sweet;
With the scents you enjoyed – I could not compete;
I sent you a mate – refined in the Word;
But you refused him/her – completely absurd!
Stubborn you are and stubborn you’ll be;
Until you agree to Come Back to Me;
What can I tell you – what can I say?
If you keep acting in your sinful way!
Make no mistake – I have a plan for you;
With love I will prick you – and deeply, too;
The one that you love will not love you back;
When you’re not looking – he/she will attack!
With tokens and trinkets you will woo your love;
But God will not bless this union above;
It is you who will suffer rebuff and regret;
For what you have done – that is what you will get!
Until you can feel what you have given to Me;
You will not have eyes that will ever see;
Into the darkness you’ll continue to gaze;
Your ears will be closed to sweet words of praise!
Your love will complain he/she hasn’t the time;
To love you and cherish you in the sublime;
Then he/she will leave you flat and outright;
Far away will him/her go – far out of sight!
Now that you know what I have been feeling;
In your absence – how much I’ve been reeling;
Come Back to Me – repent now – and believe;
Your pain and your suffering I can relieve!
My yoke is easy – my burden is light;
I’m willing to give you back your insight;
I’m willing to send forth My Spirit today;
If you will agree – to follow the Way!
Come Back to Me – and I will surely forgive;
All your transgressions – so that you will live;
With faith through grace – I will accept you back;
As long as you agree – I will take up the slack!

A Prayer for Nikki and family:
Father God, in the name of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we come to You.
We come to You as we encounter all situations in life- times of joy and plenty, and also in times of sorrow and pain. We thank You for always being with us, always listening and attending to our prayers. Thank You Father for being our source of strength and help all the days of our lives. We rejoice in knowing You will never leave us nor forsake us throughout them all! We come to You now, especially for Nikki and her family and loved ones…
Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will
help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Thank you for sending angels to stand post at every corner of her bed. Thank you they stand round about her!
Psalm 91:11-12
For He shall give His angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands lest thou dash thy foot upon a stone.
Thank you for the Holy Comforter who is with her every second of the day and night.
John 14:16
And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He might abide with you forever.
Thank you for the peace that passesth understanding- the peace Your Son Jesus gave to us. May it fill her spirit and
strengthen the family during this time.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your
heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
We pray blessings upon Nikki and her family, granted by our most merciful God in Heaven. His will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
In the Name of Jesus we pray,

2nd Thessalonians 3:16
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.…
BE WITH ME, JESUS
Be with me – take not – Your presence from me;
Let Your Spirit dwell – in me – let Him be;
My strength and solace – in turmoil of heart;
From me, Oh Lord – let Him never depart!
Without You, Lord – there is no breath of life;
Without You, Lord – the sorrow – it is rife;
Happiness eludes me – from my soul – it is gone;
Your peace in me – is vacant – totally withdrawn!
Hide not Your face from me – show me Your love;
Touch my heart with Your grace – sent from above;
Abandon me not – in my hour of need;
In Your great love, Lord – I am blessed indeed!
Fill me with your Spirit – right to the brim;
Let not hopelessness enter – faith be dim
Renew me – redo me – all over again;
Today – tomorrow – forever – Amen!
Infuse me – use me – for Your Glory, Lord;
Let me not forget – the truth in Your Word;
Raise me up, Lord – both steadfast and strong;
Be with me, Lord – where You only belong!
Strengthen me – Lord – oh, please hear my cry;
I don’t need to know the what, where or why;
I trust in Your judgment – Your mercy, Lord;
I trust in the truth revealed in Your Word!
I trust in Your Love poured out on the Tree;
I trust in Your Promise to always be;
Faithful and true for eyes that can see;
There for us all – who trust in Thee!
Be with me – Lord – refresh me – renew me;
This pain and discomfort – really threw me;
Jesus, come quickly – come quickly, I pray;
Let this doubt not take hold – unravel – fray!
Oh, precious, incorruptible Blood of the Lamb;
Encompass me – protect me – the sinner I am;
Enthrall me – befall me – change me within;
Blot my sin – from Thy sight – let it begin!
Wherein and where out – let the demon flee;
Far away – to the dry place – let it be;
Confined in the spaces – to do no harm;
To cause no distress – disruption – alarm!
Wash me – and cleanse me – pure white as snow;
Be near me – cheer me – wherever I go;
Lift my distress – give me some rest – I pray;
Be with me, Jesus – and love me Your Way!

And one of the hardest things in the Christian’s life is to wait patiently for God.
For His Will to be done – in His timing and His way.
Let us calm our restless souls today and wait upon the Lord … for He is good.
Amen goes right there, Miss Della !!! ❤️
😘😘😘
Good morning, Della,
For me… the waiting is the hardest part. The pleading and the questioning by me to the Lord of why and when?
God Has way more patience than I and it is ever abundantly clear why I am not diety.
Lord save us from those who seek to do us harm. Let no weapons formed against any of us prosper.
BUT GOD KNOWS
We do not know what tomorrow will bring
In reality we are not sure of anything
We close our eyes give way to sleep
There is no guarantee not even a peep
We say good-night to those we love
Entrust our rest to God above
Who knows the beginning from the end
Our entire life it is He who penned
Our days are full of challenges we know not
The what when why and how the outcome naught
As we awaken to a brand new day
It is God who is there to guide our way
It is He who brings light into our lives
It is we who strive and trustingly thrives
It is He who shows us the path the way
Who unconditionally loves us everyday
It is He who gave us our free will choice
It is He who gave us His grace to voice
Our decisions be they right or wrong
Will determine our stance weak or strong
Will we give in to temptation and quit
Will we be weak and meek not give a whit
Will we be strong and fight the good fight
Or will we be tempted to just take flight
We have no insight into what might come
We have no idea what direction from
If our lives are justified through others
If our needs are fulfilled by another’s
If we live each day in the last place
Will we ever be first in any case
Will we finally learn to love ourselves
Or leave our desires on the shelves
In every phase of life on earth
What we do will prove our worth
How we adjust to the highs and lows
Will determine which way our life goes
When stuck in a rut of sorrow and woe
We really have no direction to go
We haven’t asked God what He wants us to do
We are simply comfortable in feeling blue
We grieve our situation and that’s ok
He would not want it any other way
We seem to think we will figure it out
All on our own mind you we have no doubt
But God knows and He will wait for you
He’ll show you daily what He wants you to do
Signs and wonders before you displayed
All in the balance come forth to be weighed
Love one another is what you must do
Love one another as He has loved you
Listen to the clues He provides you each day
Being true to yourself is the only way
Now is the time to spread your wings
To set your sights on universal things
You might have no idea what that means
But God Knows what He put in your genes

Another inspiring poem, Dutchess … thank you!
Pic below was framed and on my kitchen counter for a long while.
Then my grandson needed it … 🥰🥰
🥰 🥰 🥰
Lovely. Good to keep reminding ourselves.
🥰🥰
God morning, duchess and Della💕
What beautiful thoughts you both leave here. We get stuck so many times wondering what is around the corner for us, especially when times are uncertain and fraught in our own lives or in the lives of those we love…friends and family. Often forgetting that God Himself knew our beginning, He knows our paths, and He knows where he is directing us. If we listen for His voice, He will not lead us astray.
Be still and know I am God. Amen🙏🏻🕊
Good evening, Duchess, dear one. I’m sorry to reply so late.
Your poem reminds me to do what I attempt to do every day and what Sundance mentions in disasters.
Just focus on the next three feet in front of me.
Our Lord controls our next moves and even our next breathe and He Is always so Faithful, Merciful, and Good.
We cannot worry for tomorrow… there’s simply no point.
Just here. Just now. Leave the rest to Him.
YES !!! ❤️❤️❤️
Morning, Woo!
I’m with you about the waiting … but, beginning to turn a corner.
God wants us to walk by faith, not sight!
Once it becomes sight, it is no longer faith …
Recently I found a wonderful book on unanswered prayer, and God’s silence. It may be helpful to you, too.
I read one chapter at a time, – out loud – so it will sink in!
(God on Mute by Pete Greig)

Bless you, Woo.
May God be gracious to you and shine His face upon you!
He’s your Good Father, and you are safe in Him!
Remember – “they” can kill the body, but NOT our souls.
I love you, Woo, sister in Christ.
🥰🙏🏻
Oh Miss Della,
I fear you won’t see my response for it is really late in coming.
My apologies as the day was carried away in the chores and doings.
Thank you for the referral of the book.
I’m not finding that I’m really asking for anything, such as unanswered prayers, but moreso anticipating the vanquishing of evil. I’m not keen on seeing how bad this can get. Sinister things affect my core like being forced to gaze on a gory train wreck. I simply want the evil to stop!
I love what you said…
“God wants us to walk by faith, not sight!
Once it becomes sight, it is no longer faith.”
I’ll add the plaque on my wall that reads… “If God brings you to it, He’ll see you through it.”
Love you too dear lady. It is a blessing to me to read your postings.
God morning, sis💕. I understand completely what you mean. Patience was not given to me. It is something I have had to develop, and it has not been easy. I’m still working on it.
Trusting that He has worked out the “when” part and knows the “why” even though we may never know ourselves, or know only further down the line when we can look back and see is something I must keep at the forefront of my thinking. And for me that helps make the waiting more bearable, for whatever it may be.
Blessings, girl, to you and your precious Savannah 😘🌷🤗
Good evening to you, too, Betsy. Again, really sorry in my late reply.
Trusting in the “when” and the “why”… I simply have major issues watching the innocent victimized or injustice and contempt for people’s inalienable rights.
And then there is what to do about it? In one aspect as a middle aged woman and in another in the building of a young woman in my daughter who still has life ahead of her… as The Lord Wills it.
I keep reminding myself over and over… I will not be able to get in the way of what The Lord’s Purpose is in her. So while there is a strong labor and duty… there is some slack cut too that I’m not in control of any of this.
I just pray that our children will be able to carve out some happiness in this depraved and broken world.

Chestnut-Sided Warbler. I have never seen them here but yes in my old birding haunts. I have looked up breeding bird census records from my old woods and it used to be a common breeder when parts of the woods was reverting from fields/farmland to woods which is the habitat it likes. It’s quite a beauty.

Note the Thistle the Flower of Scotland in the background.
I’ve been working on my Spiritual side and you all help me in many ways. Thank you.
Brilliant man. Uh oh … he’s Russian … so that makes me a Putin stooge.

Ty Sepp. And ty for your posts.
And likewise!
In case anyone might be interested.
After reading this particular website’s contents (the Solzhenitsyn Center), I noticed one review of A.I. Solzhenitsyn’s work was not included. There are probably others not included that are from publications not widely known. That happens.
This link is to the online archives of the publication “Orthodox America” and is for the Volume III, Issue 21 review by Hieromonk Seraphim (Rose) of July, 1982.
This is a rather short review of “The Gulag Archipelago” and from the perspective of an Orthodox Christian.

Colkitto, we’re all in this together – to encourage and build one another up!
Yes, we are citizens of this nation, and we love our country; but, for the believer in Christ, our citizenship is in heaven.
It’s easy to focus on where we are now – instead of the most important issue – where we’re going.
It’s a real battle, I know.
According to some sources his major work “The Gulag Archipelago” was published on December 28, 1973 when copies were available for sale in Paris. Shortly after, in 1974, he was exiled from the Soviet Union.

Over the past few weeks, I have seen comments that talk about scriptures, but do not edify. This has troubled me greatly because I see those who want to exhibit their perceived ability to be right above all at the expense of others. This is very sad because nobody wins and degrades the ability to have an honest discussion of a situation. The scripture that comes to mind is 1 Corinthians 13:1,2,3-7
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophesy and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Thanks for the opportunity to post this.
This breaks my heart, Tennessee girl …
I post Scripture here – in hope of pointing readers to Christ.
I hope my posts haven’t troubled you.
Can you be more specific – then, hopefully, it can be corrected, TG.
Blessings to you.
They have not, but have brought encouragement to me. It is to those who are not open to hearing what others are saying and all the while pushing their own agenda. This should be a place where everyone feels free to speak and not be curtailed because of criticism.
Hi Tennessee Girl,
I’m so late in posting back here today. I’m so sorry and hope you will see my reply.
I understand exactly what you mean and felt sometimes a desire to simply leave myself.
However, there are some who post things in manners I disagree with… those in which you describe… and others who are truly the most genuine, kind, and generous with their thoughts, prayers, and fellowship. Those people are like gold and I am blessed to learn from them and communicate with them.
I simply tune out those who come off as abrasive to my Spirit. And for each of us… it could be totally different people based upon our varied personalities.
Such as the Holy Spirit who opens our souls at just the right timing to receive and understand God’s Word… in God’s Perfect Timing… I feel that each person’s input here has its reasons and meaningful impact. We would never expect any person to look and act like every other person… and you’ll get to know the personalities of each and those you naturally gravitate towards…like trusted friends or adopted brothers and sisters. We are the members of His Body and each have our own unique gifting.
I pray you’ll continue to hang out and that you’ll feel welcome. There’s plenty of room for all of us and Lord knows there maybe someone lying awake tonight wishing for human interaction who has been waiting for a person just like you to relate to.
Like one big whackadoodle family, we have our crazy uncles and cousins here, too.
My moniker is JWoo… but I’ve also been titled JWooHoo and JWooarrior or some variation thereof. We each are quite colorful and probably crazy in our own rights.
Blessings to you, new friend, and may our God Who is the Creator of each of us unique individuals bless you richly.
I just saw this. Thank you. I am not leaving. I just wanted some of those who are posting to reflect on how they are being perceived. It does not help anyone, to try and overpower others. It only hurts those who are doing the overpowering and their message becomes naught.
I believe he has Divine Protection
Absolutely, C … no other “logical” answer!
Good evening, Colkitto, friend. Undoubtedly.
