Intrepid, I found the women wearing “come hither” clothes and wondered why…then I thought about how many months in Moscow are without snow, sleet, rain and cold weather, as my eyes rolled over those lovely women, yet behind them are a multitude of objects suggesting “capitalism” is loved by the Russians and perhaps working as they define it.
Then again, I am that kind of man who gets easily seduced by female beauty, especially Russian beauty comrade! CVS-11 out.
I see creepiness. I think it’s because everyone is squeaky clean, their faces, their clothes, shoes, everything. Even the men are perfectly groomed with hair recently cut or styled. All facial expressions range from pleasant to happy. Everyone drifting along, no bumping into each other, no highly animated discussions or arguments.
Not one speck of litter. All storefronts perfect. It’s just so wonderful, it creeps me out.

I don’t have any gripe against any of those things, but not one person shows any effort to look wild or “non-conformist” which is typical of young people. The only pushing of boundaries (a young person trait) are young women in sexy clothes and even that is mild.
Young people trying to “put their best foot forward” is great. It’s the homogeneity that is creepy.
Judging something as creepy is a matter of perspective. As an American, of course, such perfection doesn’t look right to me.

Having been to Russia I can tell you that those are typical women, in fact they would be considered pretty average there.
I have Russian neighbors. Absolutely wonderful people and the wife and daughter are stunningly beautiful blondes.
My daughter’s favorite preschool friend is Russian and so we have gotten to know the family and the extended family. Wonderful, Christian, good cooks, generous, humble, smart – some crazy teeth on the grandparents for sure. Nobody is overweight but they don’t look like models, they look like parents. And they are friends with Ukrainian families. They all speak Russian. One son is military age and in Moscow – they are worried he will be forced into service and trying to help him come to America but not likely because of the war. They love the public parks and being out in nature. We live in Nashville suburb – every week they are camping in Kentucky or going to explore Alabama and Tennessee parks etc. I think they are great and so glad they immigrated. It took a long time for everyone to get jobs in USA – they work in science/technology and were hired for expertise.
Just returned from Tbilisi, Georgia and Armenia. Had some light touch contact with Russians in the airport and hotel. Lovely people. Polite, excellent manners, discreet, demure, super generous with ‘thank you’s’ and courtesies.
Contrast that to the loud, noisy, obnoxious, attention-grabbing Americans in the same venues for which we are world-famous.

At the time it was sold has just helping doctors have standardized records to facilitate sharing.
Except that getting the information from one Doc to another is soooooo much harder than it was before.
But then I remember carrying a file of my medical records with me.
HIPPA was sold as protecting your privacy regarding what they can share with whom, but in reality it serves to keep you from knowing what they are doing when you try to look in on your friends or even your immediate family.

Isaac Laptop shop owner ) is seeking to dismiss the countersuit and his motion reveals the convoluted and conflicted effort of Hunter to maintain his position in court. Hunter continues to refuse to even confirm that he visited the shop twice and signed the standard form that waived any rights to the computer if it were not collected within the stated period. These refusals continued despite that the fact that the Isaac team forced the disclosure of “frequent uses of Wells Fargo ATMs “within a few miles of Mac Isaac’s shop.”
For most people, these arguments seem . . . well crazy. An FBI computer expert reportedly assessed the laptop and found that it “was not manipulated in any way.” The authenticity of the information was further confirmed “by matching the device number against Hunter Biden’s Apple iCloud ID.” Emails and messages have been confirmed by third parties who were the recipients.
Yet, as Polonius said in Hamlet, “though this be madness, yet there is method in’t.”
The Biden team wants, in my opinion, to grind Isaac and delay the litigation as much as possible. It is using the Delaware courts to exact that sweet revenge against a now defunct computer shop owner. Moreover, the absurd court arguments are largely being ignored by the media while an acknowledgment would force major media to fully cover the story.
So, Hunter simply continued to disclaim knowledge of voicemail messages and emails from Isaac about an external hard drive, paying his repair bill and picking up the computer. However, he is crystal clear that he did not give consent to Isaac about gaining access to the laptop that may not be his.

“Free trade” was always part of the platform of the Southern oligarchy from the founding of the republic. One of the reasons the South seceded in 1861, besides their inevitable loss of power due to slavery restrictions in the territories, was the Republican platform for protective tariffs.
The South nearly went to war over tariffs in 1832 but was thwarted by Andrew Jackson’s threat of federal force to collect tariffs. Jackson’s strong response kept other Southern states from joining in, and South Carolina quickly caved.
Maj Gen John A Logan, in his 1886 treatise on The Great Conspiracy, was dismayed at the rise of the Southern oligarchy after reconstruction. He noted rampant ballot stuffing, intimidation of black voters, and the Solid South coalition that insisted that tariffs be removed or reduced to the detriment of Northern manufacturing.
Election fraud was a feature of Southern politics (as noted by Logan and many others) for, well, until today.
President Lincoln raised tariffs. President Trump raised tariffs. The oligarchy is opposed to tariffs. That’s all you need to know. I think context is to be made between Trump’s use of tariffs and the situation before Lincoln even came to office.
Trump used tariffs to fight state subsidized industry and currency manipulations.
International trade during the era of the Civil War was based in fixed gold standards so that is a non factor.
Those pre Civil War tariffs you speak of were not to protect Northern manufacturing in that era but to fund it to the politically connected, so the owners would not have to pay out much interest on loans or offer equity positions to Southern investors. That had been a running political and legal argument for decades prior to the war.
After the war is a different story. Those Northern interests wanted tariffs to continue so they could ‘profiteer’ (over charge) for their goods and services. How is it possible that the wealth generated during the Gilded Age come to be? I just answered it.
As far as the politics and elections goes, there was election fraud (Tammany Hall anyone) and hijinks everywhere. Many of those who rose in prominence in the South after the war and Reconstruction were Northern carpetbaggers or Southern scalawags who allied with Northern interests.
Those post war tariffs, lack of meaningful funding for “Reconstruction” kept the South economically devastated until after WWII.
I know in the county I grew up in Georgia, every single wealthy family in that county was from people who ‘migrated’ to that county after the war.
How do I know? I wrote a list down one time in the 90s of the 5-6 most powerful and wealthiest families in my home county and went to our local historical society who had all the local records to include census reports.
Not a single surname of those 5-6 wealthy powerful families showed up in that county until the 1870 census. CARPETBAGGERS ALL!
However, well known long time families that had documented roots from that era in that county were all poor, working class, breaking into middle class or barely semi affluent public servants.
I suspect a lot of the South was like that.

I was quite happy that Tucker outed Obama by interviewing Larry Sinclair. IMO, Biden received a fair number of votes in 2020 from democrats at large who were assuming (correctly) that Biden was a proxy for Obama. Those democrats love, love. love Obama. Time is Running Out for Ukraine. The West Prepares for Humiliation-
Time is running out for Ukraine. After 18 months of war, it is no longer a question of if the Western alliance will falter, but when. Since the start, despite making many of the right noises and supplying some military hardware, France and Germany, in particular, have been reluctant partners. Their leaders have often seemed more concerned with finding an “off-ramp” for Putin than ejecting his forces from Ukraine. As well as dependency on Russian energy, a pacifist instinct among Western European political classes has led to neglect of their armed forces and a corresponding fear of escalation.
As the provider of the lion’s share of backing for Ukraine, it is the US calling the shots in this war. Yet, since the earliest days, President Biden, too, has been dragging his heels, giving just about enough military assistance to keep Ukraine fighting, but intentionally not enough to enable a victory.
Like his Western European allies, Biden has been successfully deterred by Putin’s empty threats of widening the war. Faint-hearted concerns over provoking Putin explains his failure to provide urgently-needed weapons, including combat planes and long-range missiles, and for his obstinate resistance against Nato membership for Ukraine.
Now, polls in both Europe and the US show public support for military aid to Kyiv dropping away, with one recent survey indicating that less than 50 per cent of Americans are in favour of additional funding. This at least partially reflects sluggish progress in Ukraine’s counteroffensive, which has seen only limited gains so far.
Western military analysts and the media built expectations that, this summer, Kyiv would repeat its striking victories of last autumn at Kharkiv and Kherson. Now, people are wondering how much bang they are getting for their buck, and whether the significant investment made by their countries will ever achieve anything concrete.
There is also growing disquiet about Ukrainian corruption, amplified by those voices who oppose American engagement in Europe for other reasons. Corruption concerns do need to be addressed, but they do not trump the West’s overriding strategic interest in preventing a Russian victory.
Zelensky obviously recognises the coming hinge point in Western support, and his recent actions may indicate a degree of alarm. He has, for example, jailed the allegedly corrupt tycoon and former provincial governor Igor Kolomoisky, a long-term ally and supporter. He sacked defence minister Oleksii Reznikov at the height of the war, again amid corruption allegations. The latter may signal a coming change to Ukraine’s military strategy.
None of this will make a significant difference. No strategic adjustment can turn the war around without dramatically increased military aid. And whether or not corruption is tackled, Olaf Scholz, Emmanuel Macron and, most importantly, Biden will be exerting pressure on Kyiv to come to terms, sooner or later. Biden foretold this last summer, when he wrote that the US was arming Ukraine not to defeat Russian aggression, but to “fight on the battlefield and be in the strongest possible position at the negotiating table”. Putin is only likely to play ball – though this is far from certain – provided he can keep the Ukrainian territory he has illegally annexed, and Ukraine’s Nato membership is kept permanently off the table.
That would obviously be a disaster for Ukraine, but it would also be a defeat for Nato. For Putin, it would be a victory that would encourage further aggression against Ukraine and the West in the coming years.
If anything like this scenario plays out, a humiliated West will need a robust damage-limitation strategy. This would involve building up Nato forces, which still has not yet been seriously approached on either side of the Atlantic. There is no indication, for example, that Germany is budgeting to reach the minimum Nato defence spend of 2 per cent of GDP, despite promises. The UK continues to make further cuts to its undersized army.
A second prong would be continued economic warfare against a weakened Russian economy, to emphasise the price for waging aggressive war and undermine Moscow’s ability to rearm. This is highly problematic. No doubt any peace deal would entail lifting sanctions, so more imaginative means of stifling Russia’s war economy are needed. Interdiction of weapons supply from Iran and North Korea – which both present a grave threat to the West – should be seriously explored.
Another important track is for Western states to sponsor civil legal action against frozen Russian assets, which currently amount to about £600 billion globally. An example of this is the current effort by the British not-for-profit initiative PayBack4Ukraine, which is seeking to seize assets through the courts to fund reparations for victims of Putin’s aggression. This form of “lawfare” could be a game-changer in clipping Russia’s wings and would also send a clear signal against future aggression to states such as China and Iran. But a strategic approach is needed, such as the establishment of an international tribunal dedicated specifically to such litigation. To maximise effect in the face of sanctions removal, this needs to be set up before any peace talks.
If the West can’t find the backbone to help Ukraine put a stop to Russia’s seizure of its territory, then it needs to be planning decisive measures for the day after, rather than simply repeating the errors that followed Putin’s Crimean land grab in 2014 and led directly to the 2022 invasion.

He was arrested in May or June charged and committed suicide, now 22. HIS NAME was Jord Meacham. THE RABLE that sieged the PORTLAND COURTHOUSE, for 100 days and committed arson KEVIN WEIR, aged 34 got 2 year probation.
Please indulge me with a naieve question. If the left can attempt to disqualify Trump from running on State ballots under the guise of the 14th ammedment, for seditious conspiracy charges that have not even been heard in court yet, then couldn’t States also deny Biden ballot access under the 25th ammedment for being physically and mentally unfit for office, even though the houses of congress have not yet moved to that conclusion?
The obvious answer is “rules for thee, and not for me” The left’s hypocracy, as usual, is in-your-face.

Trump is running as Trump-R and Biden as Biden-D. Many states, even though “Republican” are probably run by dems in Rep clothing. However, it seems secretaries of state are figuring they can’t use 14th on Trump.
My thoughts first is he hasn’t been convicted of anything. Yes, I know its all BS, but indictment doesn’t mean conviction.
