In the UK when I lived there, Garrison, the odious phrase “public-private partnership” came in to use and favour. Everyone in government referred to those horrid hybrid entities.
And all I could think of was that what they had done was to redefine “Fascist” to make it more palatable.

Was ruminating about this over a last cuppa’ at the bookstore a little bit ago. Historically, it’s very interesting how fascism is so attracted to authoritarianism and, ultimately, totalitarianism.
It is this attraction that made it so easy for “communist” China to encourage a new class of super wealthy oligarch’s who’s efforts transformed the Chinese state. Those folks could never have existed under Maoist communism. Despite it’s formal name, modern-day China is a fascist state.
I think we’re on the very cusp of seeing is something similar being planned here in the name of “climate change”.

Tips for the home owners who keep up their own lawns with gas powered equipment.
All gasoline small engines need air, fuel and ignition (spark from spark plug) to run.
Fuel gums up carburetors when it sits in them for extended periods and ethanol fuel really gums and attacks the diaphragms and seals. Always use non-ethanol fuel in your mowers and weed whackers. Locate a service station who advertises non-ethanol, sometimes its only one pump off the side.
For weed whackers you can buy the non-ethanol pre-mix but its more expensive.
Always run all small engines dry (out of fuel) at the end of the season and or add fuel stabilizer to the tank for the off season. (some mowers have a fuel shutoff which you can turn off and let the engine run until it empties the carburetor and quits running)
If your weed whacker has a few seasons on it and continues to run but not run well try cleaning or removing the spark screen on the exhaust. The screen loads up with carbon deposits over time. It can be cleaned with a small bristle brush. A clogged spark screen is a number one problem of weed whackers and some chainsaws.
If your mower won’t start and has fuel and the fuel filter is not clogged……then try this test. Remove a spark plug from the engine then reattach the plug wire to the spark plug. Lay the spark plug down on the engine so that it contacts metal and crank the engine (pull the cord on pull start mowers) and look for spark. If spark then likely fuel problems, if no spark you need a new plug, if the new plug still doesn’t spark you need a new magneto.
Keep your fuel containers, fuel filters and air filters clean or replace. Change engine oils at each year. Never cut wet grass if avoidable and if you do clean the mower deck. Clean the mower deck underneath at end of season to avoid rusting it out over time.
(Retired FF who maintained small engines 🙂 two more preventative maintenance things. At the end of mowing season (or when the tool will be out of use for a while, purge all the fuel from the tank by running until it literally runs out of gas. Do this with chain saws, whatever. When you put fuel back in it’ll start, given whatever condition your spark system is in.
Finally, use fuel conditioner, always. Something like Sta-bil, or like. That’s the first thing I do after re filling my 5 Gal containers.

Just found a new “storage” version of Sta-bil that is good for 24 months.
I only use non Ethanol fuel in my small engines and put stabilizer in the gas can at the end of the season, and like others, I run my engines out of gas when they are put away for the year.
There’s a product fuel additive called Seafoam that helps clean gum out of a carburetor/engine that is running slightly off. It’s not a stabilizer.

👍 when it’s a preventable maintenance issue, few things are as frustrating as finding out your carburetor is toast because it’s gummed up and refuses to start because someone forgot to purge it last year… ask me how I know these things.

Well, on the tropical front, things they are a changing.
Franklin is now forecast to make a harder right hand turn passing much closer to Bermuda than has been the forecast before by the NHC. A close pass on Bermuda is now in play.
Joe Bastardi thinks that D-10 which will become Idalia could intensify to a CAT 3 as it approaches the coast. Still believes landfall in the same place as before. Thinks there is a good chance that Idalia will not weaken over land as quickly as the NHC shows and could re-intensify after it pops back out into the Atlantic.
Levi also thinks there is a possibility of rapid intensification to the CAT 3 for Idalia. However Levi is much more cautious on where Idalia will make landfall and shows models bringing it further west on the Panhandle but says more data is needed. Hurricane hunters will be flying through the storm today and so that data is coming. D-10 is currently organizing more quickly than forecast and is likely to become a TS today.

I couldn’t stop myself from wondering if we will ever get the real story on another Epstein.
During WW II the OSS devised many schemes and gimmicks to facilitate sabotage and havoc against our enemies. They also quite naturally became proficient at identifying vulnerabilities of the US at home for such schemes by our enemies. They found that all the adhesive used on US postage stamps was mixed and distributed from one single vat. The contents of ingredients for the glue were not tested or monitored and there was no security of any kind guarding that vat or the ingredients. That changed pretty quickly after they pointed that out.
BTW FDR was an avid philatelist and collector. Would work on adding to his collection right at the desk in the Oval Office.

The cloud cover was so low… their visibility was minimal, so they practiced landing and take offs.
Glad Mr. Jim couldn’t go today, he would have been disappointed. Very little scenery today and more mechanics.
Her instructor said they usually limit discovery flights to two per person before people need to enroll in school, but he said to go through him and she could continue as much as she likes.
So even though a private pilot license is 40 to 50… sometimes up to 65 hours… you can’t accept money and be a contracted pilot until 250 hours of flight time.
Cha-ching.
An amazing ride. I got video but it wasn’t greatest for that either.
Now home for laundry and the necessities.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Fall is in the air!
Ingredients for easy cafe de olla:
16 – ounces of water
1 – cinnamon stick
2 – tablespoons coffee
1 – tablespoon crushed mexican chocolate (I use Ibarra)
1 – teaspoon crushed piloncillo
a splash of milk
In a small saucepan over a medium flame add water and cinnamon stick. Let it come to a boil.
In a 16 ounce french press add 2 tablespoons of coffee.
Then add mexican crushed chocolate
Then pour hot cinnamon tea into french press and let brew for 5 to 10 minutes.
While waiting for coffee to brew, grab your favorite mug and add piloncillo. (raw sugar)
Then pour brewed cinnamon coffee into cup.

As part of my recovery I’ve learned to pray the Lord’s Prayer as topics. 10-15 minutes in the morning (with the wife if possible) to have Jesus in charge.
I pray the Lord’s Prayer Matthew 6:9-13 like this:
*Our Father- His names for me personally this week: Abba, Jehovah, provider, protector..
*Who art in heaven- with your perfect perspective you know the end before the beginning, show me which way to work towards
*Holy is your name- that your holiness would infect me in every thought, word, and deed
*Your kingdom come- Can earth align with Heaven? List the situation’s where that isn’t happening
*Your will be done – I want to be a part of your moving today. I want to ride your wave. Not my will but yours
*On earth as it is in heaven – father you know the powers and principalities that stand between us and your will being done, show us how to overcome each of those. Show us how to live as a kid of the King
*Give us this day our daily bread – you know the financial needs that we have Lord, I pray to be provided for as the grass and the lilies and the birds of the air
*Forgive us our sins/debts – List them
**As we forgive those who sin against us, those whose debts we hold in account– List them (this is still the hardest part for me)**
*Lead us from temptation- The devil will try to tempt me today. I ask that those efforts be highlighted in neon in my mind as they happen.
*For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory-
You are the sovereign lord of my world, all glory is yours, I hand everything over to you..

I have a question that has been bothering me for a few months since I found out that my favorite Chocolate Muffin “Simple Mornings” mix was discontinued. I’ve found more and more baking company mixes no longer available. I know under Marxist regulations/taxes etc makes it harder to operate and that is what we are under. Has anyone else noticed this or am I the only Baker here, which I doubt. I may be forced to eventually hit you all up for homemade from scratch Chocolate muffins mixes.

Bookmarked. Tyvm. I’m a Chocolate Muffin addict and love Scones. If I could go back in time to my old spot with a pot of coffee and some Chocolate Muffins and catch one of those incredible migration days with my grandma & animal pals that would be grand. Fall will be here soon and hope to try and make it happen though I am in a completely new area and the migration route is not as great as it was where i grew up. I realize how lucky I was growing up there with a major flyway and protected woodlands right across the street.
The cool has come here at my Indiana home. It is 65.8 deg. F at noon. Overcast with 72% humidity.
I think mine is coming next week. Looking forward to the Fall, cooler weather, leaf colors, and migrating birds. Best of times. I posted a hawkwatching article yesterday in case you missed it or are interested. My of my fond memories is watching for a cold front and pretending I was sick so i could watch the Hawk/bird migration over my house growing up as it was situated on a major migration route. I also remember seeing high flying migrating Canada & Snow Geese heading down to the Chesapeake Watershed to winter. Be well friend and enjoy
One of my all time favorite books by one of my favorite authors. This is a book from his “Narratives of America” series which can be read independently. This was imo the best one of the series about the Iroquois and General Sullivan’s expedition during the revolutionary war to neutralize them as they were British allies (with the exception of the Oneida’s & Tuscarora’s) . Much of it is centered in NY, PA, & NJ. This is American history many do not know about. Treepers from those 3 states will recognize allot of the towns/geography. History in novel form

I have enjoyed several of Eckert’s books.
I was stunned and amazed to find details of the Battle of Point Pleasant (Virginia then, West Virginia now) which happened on October 10, 1774, and where one of my fifth great grandfathers, along with a sixth great grandfather, were in the fight with Indians. An uncle was killed there, and has his name on a monument.
Elsewhere in the book, the brother of the uncle who was killed had details mentioned about him, and he was a different sixth great grandfather.
I was amazed.
Eckert’s books are well worth reading.
I agree, this was my favorite for a myriad of reasons since many of the towns and geography are very familiar to me. I followed much of the trail the expedition took and saw a recreation of the Battle of Newtown. Even went to Cherry Valley where the massacre occurred. His bio of Tecumseh is a real gem. I got turned onto him when a kid when reading his books about wildlife which lead me to my college major and being a naturalist since I was very young. I also found out he did many of the writing for my beloved “Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom”. I have read almost every book he has written.
