the concussion at the doorbell house blows open the storm door, knocks an ornamental sign off the porch wall and a couple seconds later a big piece of wreckage comes bounding up the front lawn and into a bush
Why was the camera rolling?
There wasn’t anything in view that would have set off its motion sensor.
You can turn on Live View. But you would have to be very lucky to catch a distant explosion.
Birds flying past often trigger my back door cam to turn on and record for one 1 minute. Had a large bee do it once when it flew about an inch in front of the lens. it must depend on the particular camera’s motion detecting sensitivity setting.
I blame Breaking Bad … everyone is cooking up some blue meth.

Meth labs are certainly a part of it, perhaps aging or ineptly installed infrastructure in some homes.
I have to wonder though, is it because there are more and more cameras everywhere capturing video of these events that makes it more attractive to run these stories on local news and their social media accounts because it’s very dramatic and helps attract viewers?
Six people, including one child, died in the Plum explosion video linked above, plus rendered a dozen other neighboring houses uninhabitable. It would have made the news even if video footage didn’t exist. And the most recent explosion in Mooresville, NC killed some NFL player’s family. I get that freak accidents happen, but it’s also pretty odd that were this many high-profile freak accidents within a three week period, including one day where there were two explosions. This doesn’t seem normal.
The first question, “What is normal?” Until you can establish that, there really is nothing to be suspicious about.
Normal in terms of the world? “Its going to get a lot worse before it gets better,” is a popular notion; but at this point I think its only wishful thinking. Normal for the world is “No God!” So it can only end in complete ruin, and God having to take them all away as He sees them. (Ezekiel 16:49-50)
The same normal that is seeing devastating fires at various food and fertilizer plants across the nation during the last two years….and let’s not forget derailments of trains carrying hazardous materials across the nation.
Another normal…complete indifference or incuriosity of news reporters about any of this now (it seems ) “normal”.

So my question remains. Just how many incidences of homes exploding, per year, have occurred over the past 10 years. Without that history, we have no point of reference.

Ecclesiastes 5:18-20 “Behold that which I have seen: there is a good which is comely [for one] to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor that he takes under the sun for the number of his days, which God gives him: for it is his portion (allotment; share or amount granted). Every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God. For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answers him in the joy of his heart.”
All our experience in life should first teach us the fear of God, and reverence of His sanctuary; “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God has shown it to them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and divinity; so that they are without excuse.” (Romans 1:19-20)
But when God does not give eyes to see, nor ears to hear, nor an understanding heart; how then can He still speak to a man, if not in so far as the man is able to bear? Hasn’t He counted all of us in such a condition, THAT He might have mercy upon all? And wasn’t that the righteousness of His love and understanding, that He spared not His only Son, in order to save us?
When the man and his wife departed from the garden, to live out the rest of their days in exile, alienated from God as unfit for His presence; they still retained the image of God and the knowledge of good and evil: God left them with a conscience, and the light of life in their soul.
So it came to pass, as there became two distinctly different kinds of people; one from Cain, who took their course in life as without the knowledge of God and the faith of Christ; and then from the line of Seth, those who called themselves by the Name of the LORD, and patterned their lives by faith in the coming Redeemer. The kindness of God was not only to the “sons of God,” but also to the families for whom they would be the light of the world, and who would be an influence to curtail corruption.
Matthew 5:45 “That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for He makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”
Leviticus 19:18 “You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.”
It is evident, that God leaves the children of light in the world, to be an influence for good, with the view to all taking a course in life to the good. So then it is evident, that there is yet a part which God has left in every man, regardless of the circumstances he is born into, greater or lesser; by which he may be touched, and influenced to the good.
This observation of the Preacher, points to something quite different to those talked about in David’s 49th Psalm, and of what God revealed to Asaph in Psalm 73; in both which are described the ungodly men of the world, who “take their portion in this life” as their expression of denial of God, and of the faith of Christ. Their “portion” was for the number of their days to be entirely spent in the service of self, without any serious thought or consideration for God and eternity; nor for having a conscience toward the life of his neighbor.
That which the Preacher here speaks to, is rather of a fundamental law of God, for rewarding the good and the righteous with joy and prosperity and blessings; who make it their course in life to be upright, and endeavor always to have a good conscience toward God (as he understands Him), and to man. This, I believe, is an important distinction to make; because we are taught of God not to judge according to appearance, but to judge righteous judgment; not to look on the outward man, but upon the heart, and the quality of his character.
Many like to throw a blanket of condemnation over everyone who is rich; even those who have worked very hard and lived right, in order to come there; while ignoring the spiritual aspects, and discerning what were the motives. Many like to take the moral high ground, and point accusing fingers; laying burdens on men’s shoulders impossible to bear; while caring not a thing to touch them themselves with one of their fingers. But I think, that when we do so, we not only misrepresent God’s true thoughts, and distort the view He would have us take; but we willfully dismiss man’s moral accountability, pinning the guilt upon the inanimate riches, instead of the covetous man.
One man works hard at holding his integrity, as intrinsically connected to perfecting his art; and his treasure is a good conscience, that hates covetousness. This one God blesses, and prospers all that he puts his hand to; and gives to that man His answer in the secret places of the heart, with joy and peace and a satisfied life.
The other man does all for himself, and for what will benefit his own interests; which render him uncapable to love others, or plan ahead for meeting God. It is from out of this unclean spirit of the world, that comes the maxim, “It only business; nothing personal;” as they trample upon and destroy the good and prosperity and lives of others. The image of God in his neighbor, is nothing he can ever care for, nor concern himself with thoughts of God; for his thoughts are only filled with himself and the things that serve his pleasures.
Living in splendor and good cheer every day, and having lots of family and friends to praise him and approve his sayings, is his proof of his superiority and success; even while Lazarus is rotting away in poverty and sickness and no one having compassion, right at his gates.
The last sentence in the Preacher’s wise observation and conclusion, show quite appropriately to both kinds, how much stock we should put into our portion in this life. To the righteous, it is a foretaste of heaven, an earnest of our inheritance yet to come; but when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part is done away; and no one in heaven is gonna be missing whatever they had here before.
To the fool, who is rich toward himself, and not to God; there can only be one word; which will be the gnawing of the worm that does not die; “Then whose shall these things be, which you have provided; on the night that your soul is required?”
1 Timothy 6:3-10 ” If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof comes envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. Good morning all. Monday I was a bit under the weather and it was a lost day for me.
Well, nothing much new to report as far as tropical activity. Things have gone and are going as forecasted. TS Franklin moving north over Espanola as forecasted. Will meet heavy sheer on the north side and the question is will it survive that. The model consensus is that it will. And then it will strengthen into a hurricane south of Bermuda once it gets north of the strong westerly sheer. It remains to be seen if it will be a threat to Bermuda or the east coast of N. America.
Everything further to the east is forecasted not to be a threat to land.
In the US there is the potential for some stormy weather today all along the shore of Lake Erie.
I got my acre mowed yesterday. Though Monday was brutal with high humidity, yesterday turned out to be cooler and dryer than forecasted with a nice breeze most of the day. Forecast for today here at my Indiana home is for a high of 94 deg. My intent is to get out and get with it at 08:00 this morning and split the Chinese Elm in the bed of my truck before the heat of the day sets in. That will finish the uncured wood stacks, leaving only another pickup load of cured wood to pick up and split and stack to fill my lean-too.
I meet my siblings for dinner at a Chinese buffet uptown today and then we go to the shop conference room and divide up the coin collection between us.
I have received estimates for the sunroom addition and attached garage and am going to proceed. Have a few tweaks to talk to the contractor about. Have to get with my cousin who is the electrician that will be handling getting me set up for 200 amp service. Gas company coming out to move my meter out of the way of where the garage will be built.

Yep! Spilt half a pickup load of Chinese Elm this morning and Sherry stacked it. We’re happy. As far as I’m concerned I have enough though I have room for half a stack more of cured wood.
One really needs to take advantage of getting free firewood these days. I got all mine with the labor to move it, split it and stack it, and from helping Steve with his trees.
I have a medium sized Chinese Elm in my yard to take down later and I will save that wood even if it cures uncovered for a winter or two before I split it. Also have two smaller Willow trees to take out.
But now my focus will be on getting things done for the addition of the sun porch and attached garage. Gas company will be out to move my meter one of these days but to make arrangements to run my incoming electric underground and get 200 amp service put in, I need the plans for the sun room because the underground power will be run around the slab foundation and the electric utility requires that plan before they will install the line.
Heat Index today is forecast to be close to 100 deg. here today and tomorrow is supposed to be even hotter, so it was imperative I get that wood split this morning before it got too hot. As it was we had to take a break and cool off and rehydrate and still Sherry was all done in when we finished.

I thought that was brilliant. Tucker instinctively knew that had he told the intrusive jerk what he was fishing for then that would’ve led to more questions about why etc. IMO Tucker handled the unsolicited encounter as best as possible while keeping it positive.
Tucker’s instincts paid off in spades at the end when he learned that the jerk claimed he had 15K followers on whatever social media he used. Had Tucker reacted angrily at the initial encounter, that would have been used against him.
The rude jerk was too ignorant to know that you never disturb a recreational fisherman – the primary reason they like to fish is solitude in nature – yes, even in Central Park, NYC. You can be near people but if no one approaches or bothers you, then peace is achieved.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

I am so pleased you watched them and enjoyed them. She was an exceptionally talented and interesting artist & person. My Nana was a dollhouse collector like her also. I have seen them the most of any band, one of my favorites was at Jones Beach and at a Casino where they did a alternative play list with one of my fav songs I never saw them do “Eyes Of a Child II”.
