Concrete multistory buildings, gave me a beehive feel
Everyone living there either is an employee of the organization or hanging out temporarily while working on a personal project of some sort.
The organization is supported by donations, rentals of a handful of “apartments,” conducting tours, selling metal bells/wind chimes made in their foundry.
They have their own wells, and black water is purified using an oxidation process rather than septic.
They have solar energy, but readily admit that they cannot produce sufficient energy to power their foundry, which is their major source of income. Hence, they are on the grid.
They grow some food using sustainable agricultural processes, and raise some chickens, but also admit they depend on outside entities like coops and grocery stores for most of their food.
A few own cars, and those who do not hitch rides or have others pick up supplies for them.
When asked how disputes are managed, it sounded like Survivor. If you tick off the wrong people, you get “voted off the island.” The Corporation handles the governance and major decisions.
Sorry to get so long winded, but this is a 70’s prototype for a sustainable city – or 15 minute city.
It has never housed even a fraction of the originally intended population, and is no where near sustainable. Everyone is “free to be,” as long as you comply. As a very homogeneous “hippy-like” community, it has a very Woodstock vibe, and is kind of neat until you look behind the curtain. Even my GenX, liberal leaning stepson commented, “That was kinda neat, but it doesn’t work once you leave Oz.”

Since the lockdowns, I’ve be traveling mostly by RV acorss the South, Southwest, and West. There is an unmistakable shift in fulltime RV travelers. Years ago it was most adventurers and retirees. Now many more families and people working short term and/or temporary jobs. Quite a few I talked to are high-demand highly skilled trades. This year I heard many lamentations about not being able to afford homes or apartments nearby jobs.. Mobile home parks are turning into long-term RV parks. Some are having troubling dealing with lots of kids playing about.

Just this morning we were chatting with a 40 ish guy that was traveling in his GMC camper van.
He was very open and said it was just so much better a lifestyle than his previous way of doing things.
He has a trade, and appears content…
Guys like him are not alone, on any given day the public beach parking lot just down from us has a fair number of R.V.s and vans.
We have seen plates from as far away as Nova Scotia, Texas, Oklahoma.

I’ve a cousin who had lived in HI for decades who became a top reading specialist, but as she was white, she knew she had no chance of getting the position(s) she wanted in government in order to improve reading scores throughout the islands.
The patronage system is likely responsible to a great degree in the lack of prep for a disaster, that and horrible policies.
Many people do not understand tthe extent to which patronage degrades government agencies.
They want to lay blame on the entirety of government workers, and aren’t aware of the effect it has on morale and productivity when employee A has to do all the work that employee B (who ‘knows someone’) collects the paycheck for.
I suspect many people don’t even know what patronage is.
I have a friend in Pennsylvania, who is looking for a teaching position. They badly need math teachers, he is more than well-qualified, and cannot make it past the second interview. He’s pretty sure it’s because of ‘diversity’, which has come to mean not just non-white, but non-American.

Not sure what you mean by “log in to third party providers”. It is more likely that the behavior you see is the device/browser software, not this site. If you mean you are using and iphone 5 SE, you might look to see what version of iOS it is running. Apple makes it especially difficult to use iPhones with upgrading to there latest surveillance and spyware. No app or system service on an iPhone or Android runs alone. Everything is connected via system services.
I refused iOS updates on my iphone5 for many years (I was running iOS7). Eventually Apple completely disabled it for both WiFi and cellular access to the internet.
To clarify, third party providers such as discuss and when I say the site is changing my cookie settings I mean the cnn site. I am aware of the necessity to stay up to date with IOS and apple has stoped supporting my phone awhile ago, when it stops working altogether then I will bite the bullet and upgrade to something they do support. I use DDG for my browser because it blocks the ads. I change all my settings where ever I go to give them as little information as I can.

Well, that seems straightforward enough. But at some point along the way, two fundamental changes have been made that don’t reflect the original principle.
First, convicted offenders started to be ordered by the court to pay the court as punishment. Of course, the offense was not against the court, but the government of the day wanted to get in on the action. Surely, if a crime against a given party had been committed, the state was entitled to dip its beak, so to speak.
Over time, fines payable to the state became the norm. And for those who couldn’t pay the state, jail time.
Along the way, another extension to the concept came into use: victimless crimes. Increasingly, laws were passed by governments to make actions unlawful when there was no harm to an individual or his property.

But when governments that are already habitually overreaching appear to be going mad, it’s a good idea to step back and calmly examine whether there might not be a method in the madness.
On the surface, quite a few governments – most notably First World governments – have been passing a plethora of laws for which there is no victim but for which the government is the recipient of damages.
As if coincidentally, these same governments have been going in precisely the opposite direction with regard to crimes in which there most definitely is a victim.
Let’s have a look at a few of those.

There is only one method of holding a President accountable, and that is impeachment. If a President believes that actions he takes as the Executive could be later held against him (in the absence of an impeachment conviction), this would necessarily interfere with his operation of the machinery of Government. This has been ruled on in Kendall v. United States, 37 U.S. 524, 610 (1838)
“The executive power is vested in a President; and as far as his powers are derived from the Constitution, he is beyond the reach of any other department, except in the mode prescribed by the Constitution through the impeaching power.”
If you wish to strip a president, even a former president of his presidential immunity to prosecution, you must impeach him first. This immunity does not extend to action a former president may take after he leaves office that has nothing to do with his time in office. For example, if President Clinton shoots up a mall, then he is not immune. Got it?
The payment to Michael Cohen for Stormy Daniels was made while Trump was president. The Congress did not impeach him. Bye-bye to Alvin Bragg’s New York case on falsifying business records.

Another key point is that Article 2, Section 3 explicitly tasks the President to “take Care that the Laws are faithfully executed.”
“Election Fraud” is a Federal crime. If he believed – rightly or wrongly – that “the Laws were not faithfully executed,” say in the State of Georgia, then it is his duty to speak up. It is irrelevant that he was a contestant in the race.
The SCOTUS has further clarified that the President enjoys the same immunity that a Member of Congress does while speaking (i.e. “lying through his teeth”) on the floor of his chamber. He may speak to anyone he wishes, say to them anything he wishes, and phrase the conversation any way he wishes. He cannot “commit a crime” by so doing.
In Navy v. Eagan, the SCOTUS made it clear that the President’s plenary powers regarding sensitive information derive directly from Article 2. He answers to no one and he need not follow any of the procedures or laws which would put anyone else(!) in prison for twenty years or more.
He decides what is sensitive and what is not, and who may be allowed access to it other than himself. Any actions that he takes are presumptively allowed, because of who he is. It doesn’t matter what anyone else “recalls” about what he did or said: “there are no rules – he is ‘the rules.'” Literally, if Trump says that “he declassified,” then this statement alone causes this statement to become true. Again, because of who he is.
It’s simply time for President Trump to take his case directly before the SCOTUS – this being his “court of primary jurisdiction” – and ask that they re-affirm what they have already decided.
