Morning Ya’ll 🙂

Our first “big” date. Dressed up. Went to a good movie. Then to a nice restaurant. Went to the parking lot. I’d cleaned up my Triumph TR4 — British Racing Green with wire wheels—roadster . Put the key in the ignition and . . . click . . . no start. I immediately knew what the problem was—the starter solinoid had failed. They didn’t Joseph Lucas—the provider of my car’s electrics—the “Prince Of Darkness” for nothing. 🙂

I suggested that she slide into the driver’s seat, push the clutch in and I’d push the TR across the parking lot—pop the clutch and she’d start right up. No go. My girl wasn’t confident in doing that . . . I then suggested that she push me a few feet across the flat parking lot.

Picture this: my best girl, dressed to the nines—all of 110lbs, straight skirt, stilletos, pushing my TR4 across the parking lot. Popped the clutch, the engine started right up. Driving home she laughted and teased me the whole way . . . I knew then I’d found a keeper. We were together 55 years. 🙂

Kansas newspaper staff endured ‘Gestapo tactics,’ publisher says.

Joshua 9:1-6 “And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard thereof; that they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord. And when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done unto Jericho and to Ai, they did work wilily (with sly trickery; deceitful artifice; stratagem), and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up; and old shoes and clouted (patched cloth) upon their feet, and old garments upon them; and all the bread of their provision was dry and moldy. From these things then which were written, of what happened to Joshua and Israel, what should we learn? As we continue reading, we are astonished at how easily they are misled; and how little resistance or questioning there was, concerning their new “friends.” Especially in light of what had just happened to them a few days prior, over the matter of Achan; it would seem they would still be smarting, and acutely sensitive, and been in a heightened state of watchfulness. At any rate, the enemy found a weakness and a vulnerability, and he exploited it with great skill: Joshua and the captains were not watching for such a cunning trick, and so they took it; hook, line, and sinker.

But before we get carried away in our vain assumptions, as if we would certainly not be so simple; we should recognize similar tendencies and often failures in our own experience. How many times, for example, have we been enticed to be drawn away from the strict examining and discernment which we are directed to in the Scriptures; to making the narrow way not really so narrow, and allowing to include non-Christian and really anti-Christian ideologies, to share the room; and cowed to the suggestion that all are doing good, and must necessarily then be sanctioned of God? A prime example of this is the Ecumenical Movement, (https://pluralism.org/the-ecumenical-movement); or any number of similar “Coexistent” ideologies; which present themselves as for peace and unity, but in fact bring into brainwashing and spiritual bondage, that forbids any argument of Scripture, or exposing of evil in false doctrine. That is where the globalist’s idea of taking away everyone’s national and racial identity, in order to fabricate a mass of no-identity, mindless, soul-less devotees. There is a reason why God has severed His people from the world, and the spirit of the world; and why He places strict boundaries and guards for protection around the sanctity of His church. But as we shall see what happened here; while it had the very real and dangerous risk of just the things we have mentioned; as it turned out, was made instead an example of mercy and acceptance of the stranger, as one born in the land, and welcomed. 

The point is this, that just as God made the divisions of the languages, and the borders of their habitations, by their races and families; even so has He separated His elect from all others to be His peculiar people. We are His people of Covenant, holy unto the LORD, who has severed us from other people that we should be His. And especially with the gravely serious charge that God had given to the children of Israel, to completely empty the land of everything that breathes of the cursed nations of Canaan, to establish Israel’s borders to be the kingdom of God on earth, for the benefit of the whole world; it was nothing that could be made light of, or that they would be allowed to slack in their strictness, to obey the voice of the Spirit of God; and meddle or flirt with some suddenly out of nowhere strangers, urgent to make us promise an alliance; an alliance which we do not take to the Lord and ask Him about!

1 Corinthians 10:11-13 “Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. There has no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that you are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

And what might be surprising to many of us; is that God held them to the oath that they made; and considered it in force for ever. For many centuries later, in the time of David; God would punish the whole nation of Israel, because of Saul’s carnal, misguided zeal, when he waged a campaign of genocide against the Gibeonites; commanding a famine for three years in a row; and was not appeased until seven sons of Saul were handed over to the Gibeonites to be hanged, for the innocent blood that Saul had shed. (2 Samuel 21:1-14)

Some might ask, What the harm, after all; for didn’t God then use that very thing to bring about the occassion of the whole of the land of Canaan, all the heathen nations from the sea coast to Mt. Hermon, to the mountains, and the valleys, and every city of the whole land, thirty one kings, to attack Israel with one accord; that God might execute His word in delivering them all up into Israel’s hand, at one time to be destroyed? To this we might understand something else about how the LORD has mercy on whom He will have mercy.

Joshua 11:18-20 “Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle. For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.”

My opinion is, that the men of Gibeon found grace in the eyes of the LORD, similar to the men of Nineveh. There was to neither one of those peoples any hand stretched out with an Olive Branch; there was no one telling them that God loved them, and if they would repent, etc. But the word concerning them was simply and entirely imminent doom, and utter destruction; and they had it in their own hearts to seek mercies from God; and in the case of the Gibeonites; even if they were to be bondmen and bondwomen for ever, it would be worth it if God would let them live.

So, on the one hand; Joshua and the princes should definitely have been watchful, and taken the matter to the LORD for His decision; and in the long term, it might be open for debate, whether they were actually a significant moral injury to Israel. But on the other hand, we learned something of how the LORD prioritizes honesty and integrity, and how He still would rather have mercy, if anyone would seek it from Him. So, by the law, they should have been destroyed; and the rulers who let that happen, rather stupidly; ought to have borne responsibility: but mercy and truth, which work by love, are not against the law; and it is righteous to grant every appeal for mercy, and to keep what we have said.

Whoever is wise, let him understand these things: whoever is discerning, let him know them; for the ways of the Lord are right.   – Hosea 14:9 

The prophet Hosea lived a life of disappointment because of a wife who was unfaithful to him. The Lord used this adulterous woman to symbolize Ephraim (Israel’s northern kingdom) and its lack of devotion to God. Ephraim had forgotten its Maker (Hosea 8:14). Its people regarded God’s laws as strange (8:12), and worshipped Baal and other idols (4:17). They stumbled by day and night because they had rejected the knowledge of God (4:5-6). 

This sinful nation would be punished, but God declared that even with all of this, His love would heal their apostasy and He would look after them (14:4, 8). Ephraim had shown that they preferred their own ways to God’s, and it was to their ruin. The remnant of the righteous, however, would be humbly obedient, as they understood that “the ways of the Lord are right” (Hosea 14:9). 

The righteous person is wise, understanding the ways of the Lord because he is a student of His Word. He understands that God is trustworthy, holy, just, merciful, faultless, righteous, powerful, and loving. God’s ways are designed to guide and govern His followers on the best path. The wise person will understand this. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding” (Psalm 111:10). Wisdom is a practical thing. With it comes discernment, the ability to identify right from wrong, truth from falsehood. 

Those who prefer their own paths will stumble. Seek the Lord and ask Him to strengthen you to be faithful. Pray for those in leadership in the U.S. who seek God, and intercede on behalf of those who do not know Him. Choose to follow God’s Word and His ways, for they are right.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Over at Crisis Magazine, Anne Henderschott has an article about universities coercing students to receive the Covid vaccine, so that the university would receive government funding, and also doctors receiving financial incentives from Blue CrossBS. This appears to be a diabolical corporate-government crime against humanity which the mostly leftist universities gladly sold out their customers, as well as doctors violating the hippocratic oath for a fistful of dollars.

“In exchange for millions in government provided Covid-19 relief funding a number of colleges and universities, including Respondent Santa Clara University agreed to coerce their students into using experimental, emergency use authorized Covid-19 mRNA products due to the conditions imposed upon them to benefit from this governmental relief funding scheme.”

Shame on Amy Coney-Barrett. Any woman with a hyphenated last name is not authentically conservative. She set the precedent for Indiana University and students all across the country paid the price.

I watched this very good movie based on the book, set entirely in Watauga Co North Carolina in the Smokey Mtns. They don’t make movies like this much. Any WKRP in Cincinnati fans will recognize Devola as Bailey. Life in rural NC in the late 60’s.
