Sobering is an entirely appropriate way of describing this genuine disaster, nim. I think rah is correct in noting how, in the absence of real information, we’re seeing the emergence of collective behavior.
People are seeking answers to the disaster and, in the absence of good information, they begin supplying their own. The constant repetition of “hurricane” and “climate emergency” explanations are good examples.
Sociology calls this “magical thinking”. Sadly, there are people out there who have read the same books I have who will attempt to manipulate this crisis as a way of advancing their nefarious political ends.

This, of course, easily comports with “climate change” hysteria and promotes convictions that “something must be done”—that “something” aligning with whatever annoyances and private beliefs that people happen to have.

Jesus came in the flesh NOT to abolish the law, but to completely make full, make replete. There is another very subtle twisting of the word, in the teaching that Jesus fulfilled the moral demands of the law which we could not do. That is precisely the point on which every soul of man is proven; whether we be of the truth, or of the devil; and the cross of Christ is that Rock of Offence, and Stone of Stumbling; on which man is appointed to fall and be broken, or else it will fall on him, and grind him to powder.
It has to be understood, that the name of the tree was called, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; and that it was the effects of its fruit which poisoned us, and “opened our eyes.” Not just evil, but the knowledge of good and evil; which implies that the moral conscience is still in place; even though the hedge has been broken, and the serpent has bitten.

And the ATONEMENT is what Jesus has made for our souls by His blood. What could not be accomplished by the blood of animals; does not make the atonement itself of no account; for that was entirely the purpose; that our souls should be atoned for. Christ’s blood is the great anti type of that which was done in the old testament sacrifices. If we start to say that the atonement is abolished; where do we stop? Forgiveness of sins? Redemption?

I have had a back issue for a few months and I have sought some treatment. One thing I have to do before my next appointment is daily stretches.
Today as I did my stretches, my cat came in from another room and bit my hand 🤦♀️
Plenty of back issues here, I hope you get relief.
I have loooooong noticed that when doing stretches, or particularly any exercises, my cat will do the same to me!
Stretch a lot.
Walk a lot.
Stay away from sugar and refined carbs, they create inflammation.
I know more about back issues than I ever wanted to know…..

Rach, two good friends found relief from chronic back pain by getting “deep massages”. These are apparently different from the regular kind.
Massage has been great, but I had some kind of injury – and it’s persisting. I had an x-ray, and I just began to see a well recommended osteopath. I’ll see how it goes. Thanks
Turn off all the wifi in your house for a few days, G1. My godless inflammation is at a minimum. I only turn on the router maybe once a week. No more Blue by ADT alarm, no more high powered “smart” phones in the house, no more wireless DirecTV receivers. I cannot help the new 5 G tower a mile and a half as- the- crow-flies from my doorstep, but I do have control of how saturated my living space is with different frequencies of non ionized radiation. Try it. I had nothing else left to lose.

My son had major back surgery ten years ago and still suffers. So, I have a “glimpse” of this terrible affliction.
Several weeks ago, I went to a spinal orthopedic, and the waiting room was filled with folks of all ages.
Every time someone’s name was called, they slowly got up from their seat, obviously in pain. It choked me up.
I drove home praying for these hurting people.
I think you are onto something, CR, about turning off Wi-Fi.
Maybe for a LONG time, rather than few days.
We actually have a LOT to lose.
Please don’t give up hope … the Lord cares and He loves you.

8/11/2023 – Remember Lot’s Wife
Revelation 6:1-2 “And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying, as a voice of thunder, Come and see. And I saw, and behold, a white horse, and he sitting upon it having a bow; and was given to him a crown, and he went forth conquering, and that he might conquer.”
Luke 17:31-33 “In that day [he] who shall be upon the housetop, and his goods in the house, let him not come down to take them away; and he in the field likewise let him not return to the things behind: remember Lot’s wife: whoever may seek to save his life, shall lose it; and whoever may lose his life, shall preserve it.”
There is here in these two Scriptures, a single cataclysmic event in the heavens, and manifested in the world. The Lord said, that “When you shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet . . . ” it will be the signal for immediate response to flee. This implies knowing and understanding what we are watching for; that we will be here when it happens; and, as the Scripture from Luke plainly says, we must be ready to forsake all in a moment, and not hesitate or turn back for anything behind, if we are to escape.
Now there is in this a spiritual principle, that is highlighted; not only for the danger of the persecution, and the war that Antichrist will be given power to make upon the saints; but for the deeper point, for which the times altogether must come; which is to forsake all that pertains to this evil world, to follow Jesus out of the world.
Matthew 6:19-21 “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
The same watchfulness and readiness and having understanding of the times, to know what we must do; is that by which we can only be assured of victory over the beast, and its number and name. In other words, we must already have been so converted and have made it our course in life, having our hearts in heaven with the Lord our Treasure; if we are to keep from being scandalized and fall away, when the hour of trial comes upon all the habitable earth.

If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! Why did Lot’s wife look back? Because her affections were so firmly fixed on her comfortable life in Sodom. She may have been Lot’s wife; and therefore of the same righteous nature; but she had her husband move down from the quiet and clean living in the mountains, to the supposed safety and amenities of the sinful city of Sodom. Perhaps she really thought, that she could get along well enough; and that the benefits outweighed the dangers? In any case, those last moments of her life, where what was in her heart made her turn back to see, when there happened that terrible thunderous explosion from behind her: what pulled on her heart to do that? THAT IS exactly what the Lord warns us against, for the day the man of sin is to be revealed.

Now is the time for learning and maturing in the faith; for letting patience and endurance have her perfect work through the proving of our soul by temptations. Like David could not go out to battle the Philistine in Saul’s armor, because he had not proved it; so we will not be able to overcome the great tribulation and the hour of trial upon the whole world; unless we have proven the armor that God has given us in Christ, through His word, and by holding fast our integrity in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Kim and I soooo enjoy feeding, watering, and watching our feathered friends. During the “Polar Vortex” in Feb. ’21, we invitied them to our patio for lunch and a break from the cold.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Ohhh Betsy, this lesson from Charles Stanley is an answer straight from God to my last night’s prayers.
I spoke last night with my cousin whose husband of 63+ years died less than a month ago of Alzheimers and multiple organ failure. She is in such torment questioning why God let him suffer so long before He took him home. She’s been praying for understanding.
I’ve sent her the link and I wholly believe it will give her the peace she so needs.
God is so good and I thank Him every single day in Jesus name.

I am so glad I posted it again, deb, less than one week after I did so the first time.
When I first listened to it I was overcome with his explanations and guidance and prayers. And for some reason this morning I was impelled to post it again.
So many are in situations these days where they no doubt wonder if there is a God, or why He would “allow” such terrible heartache or suffering.
It is not hard for me to feel your cousin’s anguish, and I am so so sorry….inescapable some day for any of us who love someone. I do earnestly pray she will be comforted by listening to this, as I was. Bless, deb. Prayers up for the peace which only our Father can provide will find a place in her heart.🙏🏻💕
Like we all know, there are no coincidences. Listening spoke so deeply to my heart also. My cousin’s anguish brought back my own when I very suddenly became a widow at 27. My experience has let her be comfortable talking with me about all she is going through.

His church was in my town, so I listened to his daily radio program.
Also, watched his Sunday church service on t.v.
And since there was no internet – received his devotional booklet in the mail.
He became my “spiritual” fathe, and helped me understand God’s ways.
I still read his daily devotional messages online at http://www.InTouch.org.
They are simple – yet powerful.
I owe Dr. Stanley a great debt for his help. And especially to God, for using him.

Joe Bastardi is telling Texans to hang in there. The Models are indicating that the month of October will bring lower than normal temperatures and higher than normal precipitation for Texas and much of the rest of the deep south.
As I write this the Main Development Region (MDR) in the Atlantic shows no activity. There have been clear skies over the region for some time now. Joe believes there is a good chance that is going to change about the time that things settle down in the NW Pacific, which seems to be starting to happen now. Remember, that the last half of this month conditions will be highly conducive for a strike along the eastern coast of the US if a storm survives the strong easterly sheer now coming across from the SE Pacific.

God was so pleased with Solomon’s request for wisdom that He blessed him beyond what he asked for with riches and honor. How often does the average Christian bring a wish list to the Lord, without considering what God desires them to ask.
Jesus instructed His disciples to pray, “Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). In the garden, He prayed, “Not my will, but yours, be done” (Luke 22:42). Jesus promised, “If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it” (John 14:14).
When an ambassador speaks for the United States, he represents the government’s wishes, not his own. Asking in the name of Jesus means asking the Father for what Jesus would have you ask.
As you grow in Christ, your desires change to His desires and worldly things have less importance. Search the Scriptures, there are many things God asks you to pray for specifically, such as, “to send out laborers into his harvest” (Luke 10:2), for the sick to be healed (James 5:14), and for wisdom (James 1:5).
As you pray for the United States, consider the heart of the Father. Sometimes it is difficult to pray for government officials who stand against principles you hold dear.
Jesus said, “I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:44-45).
Pray for the eyes of U. S. citizens and government officials to be opened to salvation in Christ and that they will conduct themselves in accordance with God’s will.

Had a great lunch today with my best friend. We were talking about what we like to read . . . I smiled and told her that my current favorite read is the current issue 0f Warship, a British publication that is so, well, idiosyncratically British that it practically drips fish and chips. It tends to appear irregularly and rather whimsically at my local Barns and Nobels bookstore. When it appears I always snap it up. If you frequent B&N (every Sunday for me for years and years) and run across a copy I can highly recommend it.

My nephew that is building my computer is now working on assembling it. Black desktop case I selected will have clear sides on it so one can see the guts. Everything top of the line. Tells me that it will come in under $2,500 for everything. 42″ monitor with high performance speakers. Will give the specs once I know them all. Though I am no gamer, I still wanted the capability to run any games out there.
My recommendation–two monitors.
Called my nephew. Going with two 27s. Will be handy when referencing and writing at the same time.
