What Bible exactly is this person reading? And does he actually know what apostasy is?
Starting with the Epistle of Jude: the evil angels, the children of Israel, and the wicked ones creeping into the assemblies; what are they then? And what the threat to the saints, if not apostasy?
Genesis starts out with an apostasy with Adam and Eve, followed by Cain; and then especially marked in chapter 6, with the great falling away which cause the whole earth to corrupt and be filled with violence.
How about nearly the entire history of Israel, backsliding and betraying the LORD, and refusing to repent, until there was no remedy? Has the author here never read the Old Testament, especially the historical books and the prophets? Or what about the New Testament? How many times does the Lord Jesus and all the apostles warn for us to take heed, and to diligently attend to the things we have received; to beware of the many deceivers (like the author of this little message); because the day will come when they will no longer endure sound teaching, and shall be turned instead to fables; having a form of godliness, but denying its power; working against the true Spirit filled elect from out of the churches and synagogues, and many hating and betraying one another? And what Paul said, that the Day of the LORD will not come except first come the falling away!
Otherwise, temptations are not really temptations, because we have no danger of sinning, or being deceived, or giving up and going back to the world? And Paul misspoke when he said that Demas had forsaken him, and gone back to Thessalonica, having loved this present world?
Without the Holy Spirit, without real personal experience of grace and truth having been wrought in them; many have taken upon themselves to speak about the holy things of God, trespassing into areas which cause others to sin and believe what is false. But God allows them to arise among the people, to prove the hearts of His people, whether they will use discernment and judge righteous judgment, according to His word; or be foolishly led away INTO APOSTASY.
Evidently this person is reading impaired.

Well, if you look up apostasy in the Strong’s, you will find the meaning; right? And the fact that the Bible is FULL of examples of apostasy and falling away, I fail to see how “this person” can get hung up on a single translation into English, of something that is all through the Bible! How does someone take upon himself to teach out of the Scriptures, and not know what the Scriptures are saying? And then they make such absurd attestations!
Do you read only the letters, without understanding what the words mean? I doubt it. So how can you say that none of the writers of the Bible call anyone apostate? Don’t you understand what you read?

The word comes to us from Greek. It had to take a torturous route, but that is where it comes from.

Luke did in Acts and Paul did in 2 Thessalonians.
Both are from the New Testament which most say was written in Greek.
So, it is in the bible, the bible as written, and translators later choose not to use it in the English translation.
The footnote is right in that Jude didn’t use the word. But it is wrong to say that no other bible author used it.
And the concept is littered throughout the scriptures, even if the Greek word, or its English derivative, isn’t used.

I understand your feeling Sister, but the “word” being “nit-picked” is the word of God, and His Spirit striving with men to save their souls. We are commanded to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints; and to judge righteous judgment. We ARE our brother’s keeper; and are liable to God if we do not warn against error and rebuke sin.
And yes, you are so right about the turmoil and division in this country; but there is a cause: God is allowing the devil to sift the people with a sieve of vanity, and sending the strong delusion, for all those who will not receive the love of the truth. Jesus didn’t come to bring peace, but division; that same division that was started by the serpent, and initiated in the world between men, in Cain murdering his brother for Christ’s sake. We have to have the bad separated out, and taken away, for there to be salvation and healing.
Well said, brother Jim. While looking only at the English translation, they still should see that the subject of apostasy is voluminously addressed in the Bible. And looking up the word choices of the translators, all point to that Greek or Hebrew word that they resisted using!
Look up, Silent Reader, in Strong’s, all the parts where it is talked about departing from the faith, and falling away, etc, the word used is APOSTASY.
Next to that, when we read, don’t we want to understand the meaning? And why in particular, does the word apostasy touch such a raw nerve? Who doesn’t want people, especially the believers in Jesus, to understand the meaning and eternal danger attached to APOSTASY? Again, who is this person defending?
But the reason for this conversation taking the way it did, is because God is proving the hearts of the readers here. We don’t seek to be liked, as much as to be faithful to the Lord and His word; but it does show what’s in people’s hearts, by how many liked which side of the argument.

This is our customary Sunday benediction. As soon as I discovered this rendition of “The Parting Glass” I realized it was special. We have often discussed that, in so many ways, out Treehouse Open Thread has become a church . . . Churches are defined by community and belief and, here, we have both in abundance.
The Blessed Spirit of Our Lord resides amonst us here. His presence is subtle—as it always is—but he is nonetheless here . . . always waiting for us to accept Him and ask for forgiveness of our sins. A couple of years ago I had a conversation with a dear friend about belief in Our Lord Jesus. He said he had difficulty with belief. I shared with him my experience with belief, with experiencing Our Lord’s Grace in a most direct and personal . . . A couple of weeks later he told me that before he went to bed he prayed . . . “Now I lay Me Down To Sleep”. . . I told him his childhood prayer was all that was needed—he was in!
Our Lord is always watching over us, always guiding us if we learn how to listen to his subtle voice. Our faith demands that we learn to understand what this means. Be blessed and be well, Treeper friends.

Afterwards the kids had picked a restaurant in New Braunfels to have a meal. Burgers and beer but we had to sit outside. Shaded but still it was 109. 😓 We actually had fun , praise the Lord. My mom is a trooper.

Hours…and not even breathing hard!!👍🏻 Made possible by one phone call from an ex-colleague concerning constructing of an insert for his television cabinet to lift his tv, similar to one Chris has made for another where he worked. Thus the free bike to get him started…a blessing we didn’t see coming. Those really are the best😊🙏🏻😘

Yes to all of the above. We phoned 2 HVAC companies but no response yet. In the meantime, we narrowed the problem to the thermostat which has gone wonky. Chris took it off the wall, replaced the batteries, then researched if it could be rest, in hopes it would sustain us through Monday.
Woke up this morning to discover that overnight it had done just that!! Prayers answered?? YES!! Thanks be to God🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
So for the moment we are all right (jazz hands!!)

My study is separate from my house in what was a servant’s bedroom. It’s small enough that I cool it with a 5kbtw window unit. Until this heat wave it did a good job. But not in 104F heat.
I bought a “Judrt” tiny 6x10in. evaporative (aka “swamp”) air conditioner—$39 delivered from Amazon. I have it sitting on my computer desk so it blows directly on me. It works surprisingly well like this. It’s not really designed to cool a room but, in a small workspace or perhaps at a bedside, it really makes a difference. When the temp hit 104F I was sitting out here sweating. With this little swamp cooler, I’m comfortable. Best $39 bucks I’ve spent in a long time.
I’m glad you’ve got your unit and it works. Right now, even with the AC on (we keep it set at 85/86 because of horrendous bills) we run a big square floor fan and ceiling fans which keep the suffering minimal.
But now the thermostat is playing up again, so first thing in the morning we will phone the people who installed our unit and get them out here to replace it.
Our last electric bill was $346. !!
Ouch. So thankful I live in Mississippi.
It always happens at a time when it can be tough to get someone out to make the repair now. Doesn’t it?

In my striving to live a grateful and holy life – this morning, I am grateful for:
a beautiful 17-year-old daughter who loves The Lord and loves Christian music. To that end, we are seeing Toby Mac at the Indiana State Fair tonight. I love that she loves me and wants to hang around her old Mom. We are so close. Praise God!
I am thankful for the summer downpours we have been blessed with.
Thankful for the patio tomato plant that is blessing us now with salad tomatoes.
Thankful so much for the flowerpots bursting forth gangbusters – blessing me with the encouragement of their bright and beautiful blooms. I liked them so much, I went to Lowes and bought all the seeds again, so we could have the same next season.
I am thankful to have the backbone to cut loose a new acquaintance who was so negative that I felt as though I was dragging a dead body through a war zone despite my efforts to be encouraging and uplifting. The Eeyore personality is just not a fit for me and despite my best efforts at sharing Christ’s Salvation – I cannot save anyone, nor can I make anyone else happy. I will not subject ourselves to vulgarity and dark melancholy. I am in no way perfect and dark and vulgar moments happen, but we actively work against those and strive to keep our Father God at the forefront and our hope lanterns lit with Spiritual oil. A man’s place is to lead and protect not to whine and whimper and view everything downcast. Where are our strong and courageous men? (Now I am compelled to watch the movie “Courageous” yet again for the hundredth time – “Who will lead?” – I will. I will. I WILL.) Come now strong and God-loving men – Proverbs 31 women wait for you. We will accept no less.
We are living our very best lives under the circumstances. Kiddo has a Business Law class and she perked up to learn they were covering the Constitution. She is taking my game that I invented to the teacher. It is called “Violate My Rights” and it teaches the players how to USE the Constitution to defend and assert themselves. I love my daughter’s boldness and I pray that the lessons within sink deep into our next generation. May our Lord protect her as she fights the good fight in public school.
I am grateful for our Treepers and for each member having their own Divine Purpose. Like the members of the Spiritual body – I pray God be praised and personal relationships with God bloom. God loves you all so very much.

Additionally – I am thankful for the little Lebanon, Indiana IGA store that is nothing to look at! However, it is a true sight to behold. It has an astounding butcher tucked in the back and for the first half of the month 1st through the 15th – it provides farm to table locally sourced meats at reduced prices. The veterans clubs here use their meats as raffle boards for their members. For some of our old-timers – this is how they survive on fixed incomes.
The quality is superb and they provide the meat to many of our local finer restaurants. Their in-store ground and seasoned pork sausage is terrific and they sell old-fashioned thick sliced smoked pork chops and big chub bologna. This is a farmer’s secret right here.
I purchased enough meat for us to place in our 7 cubic foot garage freezer to last well through the winter season – for less than $100. We will eat like royalty on a pauper’s budget.
I pray that any persons in Central Indiana who read my post can count this as help to themselves, family, and friends.
Bring coolers and ice to keep it cold and come – fill up your freezer. Be blessed and remain well.

Can’t imagine a contemporary Biz Law class not talking about that. When I was teaching for a while there I was about the only one on campus who knew what a “reasonable accommodation” was . . . Scheech. So glad I’m now an “old-retired-guy”.

A couple of days ago, I had a 2hr lunch with my absolute best friend/soulmate. We’ve known each other for over 25 years, taught together, moved through life’s minefields together. I’m as close to her as I am to anybody in my life. We both suffered similar losses—her husband is in a nursing home and doesn’t always recognize her and, of course, my wife passed away last September. She’s also a psychologist so, of course, our conversation tuned to grief. I can truthfully say our 2hrs together was cathartic—amazingly uplifting for two people who are such close friends and who have experiences similar kinds of loss.
The difference? Trust and Loyalty. The emotional bonds of long-term relationship all0w even the deepest grief to be shared in ways that become healing. But without Trust and Loyalty? You get toxicity. I’d say you dodged a bullet.
Re: strong and courageous men? Now, my dear ‘Woo you have asked such a provocative question here . . . You know what my answer is going to be. The “strong and courageous men” are all here in Texas of course!!! (and the same goes for drop-dead gorgeous women—I know because I had one in my life for 55 years). Now, since you’re from here I know you already know this . . . Why, just yesterday I had lunch is Austin with some great examples of strong and courageous men . . . although, alas, we’re all pretty old now. 🙂
You mentioned Savannah’s courage and boldness. She’s her mother’s daughter. A chip off the old block.

Hi, Mary Jane . . . 🙂 My wife passed away this past September. I was her caregiver for 18 years. Every day with her was a blessing. We fell in love all over again. We were married 55 years.
Please know that Our Lord blesses you for being your husband’s caregiver. Nobody really knows what that is like . . . until you’ve done it.
Not everyone who comes here sees “church” but enough of “us” are here to make the difference. And yes, I’ve stared into the abyss . . . and to my great surprise found that with faith I could cross to a safe and sound other side. It was with that and some other similar thoughts that one day it just seemed appropriate to give us all a Sunday “Parting Glass” benediction.

My best friend and I were talking about this, Bet. It’s the sense of lost companionship that is most acute. When you’re with someone for 5 and a half decades so many taken-for-granted things cut deeply when you no longer have them.
I just finished reading your reply to JWoo about this Garrison. A connection with as you and your friend d have is life sustaining and all that means. Fellow travellers over the years. Something so precious beyond price.
At some point one or the other of us in this house will experience what you speak of. I completely and deeply understand from a distance. But this past April when I was alone in this house while Chris was in hospital, I experienced a taste of it which allowed me to experience for a brief moment the reality of the change in your life over the past almost a year.
I’m so glad for your friendship with this woman, my friend. What support you must be for her, as she is for you 😌

That doesn’t actually work. Renaming the filename to end with .jpg doesn’t change the format from being WEBP format.

I don’t care if you are 5, 10, 20, 40, 60 years old!!! You do not have to stand there and take this. SO DON’T!!!!! I also encourage woman nowadays to take someone else to the doctor with you. These doctors are crazy and they are less to intimidate if you arrive in teams. Don’t let them intimidate you or force you into anything. Bring a trusted friend or relative and assert your rights to safety in your doctor’s office.
Good of you. I am sorry for my fellow men folk with the egos and narcissism’s. I’ve always tried to set examples by being what many perceive as a “jock” yet being polite, kind, especially to senior citizens, women, children, and of course animals.

This is so true, and absolutely vital, if we hope to come through this evil world overcomers. As believers in Jesus, we do not have the option of mediocrity, or just getting a “C” on our Report Card: our earnestness and diligence continually, and becoming expert in the word of God, are truly a matter of life or death; not only for ourselves; to keep from falling away or stumbling; but for the blood of the souls of whom God has made us Watchmen, to warn from Him.

While I totally get the intended meaning; that the depths of knowing God are higher than any created being can grasp; yet it makes me think, that there are so many, who simply think of reading and learning the Bible, is purely a theoretical exercise, and only academic: the actual belief that the words are literal, and that mortal souls are in real and grave danger, as we are not fit for the Presence of God, until getting right with Jesus through repentance and thorough-going conversion; is simply of no interest or concern. Even while carrying Bibles and faithfully going to Church all their lives; yet never really getting saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, and are on the way to that most thundering word of doom, when its too late; I never knew you! So true, Poyeema! Recently I was re-reading 1Samuel 15. I had forgotten about how Saul was anointed the first King of Israel and then how he rejected God’s instructions. Saul did not carry out what the Lord had told him to do. Rebellion and arrogance against God are sins. Samuel told Saul that God said, “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice!”
What struck me is when Saul acknowledges his sin, he says, “ I violated the Lord’s instructions. I was afraid of the people and so I gave in to them.” !! Isn’t that where we are today? People wont repent and listen to God’s word because they are afraid of what others think around them !! Wow.

I think that when we come to the day of eternity, we will find our greatest happiness, first to finally see Jesus’ face and talk with Him, and He accepting us and wanting us to be there: but after that, no longer any constraints or limitations learning from Him all He has to teach us!
We have a very brief little while here, to prepare for meeting our Maker and our Savior. I just want you to know, that I sincerely appreciate the messages and Scriptures you faithfully put up every day. We do it for the Lord; the words are His, and He is the One directing its distribution. We plant and water and tend to the fields; but God is the One who makes it do what He sends it out to do.

Good Morning all. Hope you have a Blessed Sunday.
Hurricane watch for the last 10-15 days of this month still stands. Conditions will be optimal for strike somewhere on the US shore during that period IF a storm forms and survives to make it far enough west. And that is a big IF! The MDR (Main Development Region) in the Atlantic has been practically shut down. Why?
Well, at least in part, due to the very warm SSTs (Sea Surface Temperatures). It takes more than warm water for tropical storms to form. It takes contrasts in air temperatures and atmospheric pressures. The very warm SST’s are preventing those contrasts from happening.
There is now a big argument brewing among skeptics about how big of a factor the Hunga-Tonga eruption has had on our current weather and the high SSTs. That volcano injected a massive amount of water vapor into the Stratosphere. Orders of magnitude more than any volcano on record since man has had the capability to measure such things.
Frankly the physics are beyond my own capability to make a scientific evaluation. But just looking at it from a common sense/intuitive perspective, which admittedly sometimes physical sciences run counter to, I believe that injection of water vapor is a relatively minor factor. Fact is the SSTs were elevated long before that eruption and the amount of energy the atmosphere can store compared to the oceans, is miniscule. I believe that abyssal geothermal activity is a much more powerful driver. But enough of that.
The long range models are showing that right up until October, you folks all across the south are in for warmer than average temperatures.
Joe Bastardi is still saying that this coming winter is going to be essentially the opposite of last year. Earlier in the winter it will be the upper plains states and Midwest and NE that will get be the coldest and snowiest relative to normal. The come late January into February snows to be expected down to the I-10 corridor right over into Florida. The SE US is going to have the coldest temperatures relative to normal.
I think this winter we have a good shot of having snow cover in all 50 states at the same time sometime in February. (Mauna Loa Mauna Kea in Hawaii generally have snow up at the summit during the winter.)

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

The leftist history revisionists to this day try to make it seem that the use of the Atomic bombs were the worst and not a militarily necessary act. They ignore that by the time those bombs were dropped that far more Japanese had died from the fire bombing than were killed by the atomic bombs. That on average by the time those bombs were dropped an average of over 30% of nearly every major city in Japan had already been destroyed. Here are the totals for some of the largest Japanese cities.
Tokyo 40%
Yokohama 58%
Osaka 35%
Nagoya 40%
There were 29 other cities who’s destruction ranged from 96% to 21%.
Had not the bombs been dropped invasion would have occurred and it if had the very culture of Japan would probably have been wiped out and far more Japanese and Americans would have died. Including all of the Allied POWs being held in Japan, as orders had already been issued to eliminate the POWs if there was an invasion. In that event the occupation would have been aimed at eliminating the very culture of Japan.
I had a leftist social studies teacher in high school in the early 1980’s. Flaming liberal. She was out there. Didn’t even think it would have been right to use the death penalty for Hitler had he been caught alive.
Of course, she was really, really for aborting innocent babies in the womb, though.
She went on a tirade about Truman dropping the Atomic bombs and I pointed out that there were a predicted one million American casualties if we invaded Japan, and the bombs actually saved lives overall. She couldn’t handle that. She insisted it was false!
In 1999 my beloved Mamaw passed away. She was my Mom’s Mom, and was very special and well loved. At the funeral there were cousins and kin I hadn’t seen since I was a kid. Somehow we got on the topic of the military and when they found out I had been in the Army they were glad to talk about their military service in WW2.
It turns out that a couple of them still had their orders for the invasion of Japan. (I cannot remember how far out from the dropping of the bombs that was planned out to be.) And, they told me that there were a predicted one million American casualties for the upcoming invasion. Just as I had told that teacher back in the early 80’s.

My mother and my aunt were kids during WWII. My Grandfather ministered to the 930+ refugees the US officially took in and housed at Fort Erie. My Grandmother taught them English. Many were in and out of my Grandfather’s church. I was never shielded from the accounts of what these people went through. All of the communications are still in my Mother’s possession and I will be editing.
The questioning of what went on during WWII is appalling. Where in the heck are the people in those threads being educated.
