I have a small video of my youngest and her husband leading their triplets plus one outside to see whose “lost lab” puppy was in their back yard.
They were all over this beautiful puppy who in turn was all over them.
What joy went straight to my heart when their parents told them this bless-ed sweet black lab was theirs!
Looking at this picture, I know what’s coming💕 And if it was even a fraction of what I saw with my grandchildren?
Well, my heart would explode, just as it did when I saw the tears of joy in that video😌…

Reminds me of my first dog. “Susie” was a little litter runt, the last in the shed where the other dogs were kept. Runts are usually undersized and she was this tiny little waif of a puppy. She was a rat-terrier/fox terrier mix—neither breed know for producing bigger dogs. For me, all of 6 years old, it was absolute love at first sight.
We’d lost Prince, my dad’s much loved prize bird-dog who was suspected of killing a neighbor’s chickens . . . This was a clear violation of country-folk red-neck rules. When your dog starts killing people’s chickens you have to get rid of the dog or put him down. . . So, my dad sold him to a breeder who passed Prince on to Canada where he became a champion trials dog. My dad had trained him up from a puppy. . .
Little Susie quickly became “my” puppy and “our” family dog. She never quite replaced Prince in my dad’s memory but she lived with us for well over 20 years. After I’d moved out, her last days were spent going for long car rides with my dad . . .

Years ago, I saw a similar management training film with John Cleese in it (No it wasn’t ‘the Parrot Sketch’) where he wanted to make a complaint, as an unhappy customer dissatisfied with the product.
The point of the film was, instead of making the situation worse by assuming a hostile/defensive attitude, it was to show management that a polite customer with a reasonable complaint was actually doing the business a favor by pointing out what might be a problem for many of their customers, no matter what the product was.
Also, the point was that one complaining customer, whether appearing in person, or writing to the company with their complaint, is actually speaking for all the customers who did not want to make a complaint, for whatever reason, but quietly took their business elsewhere and never came back. They might of course tell their friends and relatives what an experience they had been through with the management people who were unwilling to listen. So one letter of complaint might represent 10 or even more other customers.

And like Beethoven, deafness cruelly came to him in his fifties. One can only imagine such a terrible affliction for men like them for whom music was their lives. Nevertheless, he continued to compose, and thank goodness for us who are deeply moved by his beautiful works.

We didn’t have a lot of music in my home growing up and it was while working at the campus radio station that I began listening to the great composers, including Smetana. What great music! Hope you have a great day. My eye doctor is making a retina specialist referral. I may have some macular degeneration in my right eye. I’m a bit anxious about that . . .
Dang, Garrison. My mother had the same later in her life. So much progress has been made with it, I’m praying whatever your ophthalmologist suggest will stop it on its tracks.
Chris and I have been taking daily LUTEIN for years. It helps replenish what eyes need and lose the older they get. I will suggest it for you, available anywhere. A vitamin for the windows to your beautiful soul.

Thanks for this suggestion, Bet. This was my first eye-exam in several years—my fault, really. I talked with my eye-doc again this morning. There’s something wrong with my right eye for sure, although he can’t be completely sure what it is. Hence the referral to a retina specialist. He was intentionally cautious in his diagnosis, noting mainly that there is a noticeable difference between what my right eye see and what my left eye sees. So, time to find out what’s wrong. He said it ‘may’ be m/d but he isn’t sure.

Just before Thanksgiving in 2021 my left eye began having wavy lines in what I saw. By Christmas there was a dark spot in my central vision so I scheduled a visit with my Dr. Got to see her in early January 2022 and she referred me to an ophthalmologist who when i got there confirmed the macular degeneration but did not treat it.
Did some research and found a retina specialist in another town about50 miles away. By the time I got to see him I was almost completely blind in my left eye. Large black spot in the middle with just a little peripheral vision .
He started me on shots in my eye. It sounds terrible but it’s really not bad at all. Within 3 months I had my vision back! I can read with that eye again.
For a year I got shots once a month. Now I am getting shots once every 7 weeks with the goal of getting maybe 3 or 4 shots per year.
Don’t despair, just get help form a retina specialist as soon as possible. I will keep you in my prayers.
PS The specialist had me get and take AREDs – Age Related Eye Disease – pills. As Betsy suggests, get the ones that add Lutien.

Me, too!!! Thanks, Betsy. I spend at least 5-6 hours a day reading. The thought of not reading books was disconcerting. I did (and do) a lot of praying and giving thanks for the ability to just see.
This is encouraging news, Patty. I couldn’t be more pleased for you! I’m not having any center vision abnormalities—as I told Bet we’ve discovered that my right eye just doesn’t discern as well as my left.
It took a lot more correction to bring my vision closer together which, of course, was an alarm bell for my doc and, now, me. After a good conversation with him this morning I’m less anxious but still, definitely, wary. Watch this space for news . . . 🙂
Garrison, my husband has early MD due to his age and having type 2 diabetes. The eye specialists at VA prescribed Preser Vision AREDS2 vitamin supplements. It contains the lutein and zeaxanthin Betsy spoke about. It does seem to help as his MD is stable.
I will also be keeping you in prayer.
I’m so glad you have caught it so very early!!! If I were you, knowing what I know now, I would get a retina specialist set up and ready to go. The first visit they do lots of tests on your eyes and evaluate your particular situation.
If you start having problems seek help like your hairs on fire. I went from a few wavy lines to pretty much blind in less than 2 months.

Hi Garrison, retinal specialists usually inject the eye (with a local anesthetic of course) with ‘Avastin’ probably about once every three months depending. on the situation, which slows down the development of Mac Degeneration. There are several things you can take, that the eye needs. I could list them but best you look up a few references and opinions yourself, and you can get over-the-counter combinations ( Areds) that help. There is no cure, so far. It is more common with people with Diabetes.
I have no center to my vision in the right eye. the macular is gone. The shots held it off for a few years.
However I have around-the-edges vision in that eye, the other one, the right, is now having the same treatment but is probably going the same way. The only good thing is that my ‘around the edges’ vision is probably okay and I will be partially blind, but will have enough vision not to walk into walls.
I do, however, find the loss of three dimensional vision very difficult for judging distances, eg tripping over raised edges and bumps, pouring things into cups etc and of course I cannot drive.
Good to know there is treatment though :-)) You may be able to keep your vision for years. Maybe by that time there will be new treatments.

I haven’t lost any center vision acuity in my right eye although there’s simply less overall acuity relative to my left eye. My eye doc had to work to get a good or reasonably balanced prescription.
I live out of town on a couple of acres. My GREATEST fear was that I would have to sell and move into town. To me that’s like leaving paradise and moving into downtown hell. Losing the ability to drive was terrifying.

Cornelius was led to the apostle Peter and, at the same time, Peter was led to minister to him without reserve. In the end, Cornelius and his friends and family became the first recorded Gentiles to receive the Holy Spirit.
Do you desire the ability to judge well, separating fact from fiction and truth from error? If so, ask God for the spiritual gift of discernment. Like Cornelius, your request will be answered! All discernment is found by bringing your thoughts and ideas in alignment with Christ. His Spirit will guide you to the people and information you need.
Pray first for yourself, asking God to give you a keen sense of discernment, revealing where you lack insight. Then intercede for those governing this nation to have a similar desire to know God and understand His ways.

Good morning all! Got up and got with it this morning. Because I have to burn a lot of green pine that crackle and pops I was waiting for a morning with no wind and a heavy dew. Fortunately this morning was perfect. Went out and lite off my fire pit in the morning twilight. Hauled several loads of the pine to the pit and put it on the fire. Now resting, drinking my first cup of coffee, and waiting for the stuff to burn down a bit.
Was drinking my coffee sitting on the deck and here came Steve giving Cooper his morning walk. Shortly we’ll both be at it. Me nipping the last of the branches off the limb and feeding the fire and Steve cutting up the limb with his chain saw. After that we get in the gulf cart and ATV and drive around picking the stuff up scattered all over the back yards and fields and burning it up.
That will clear the deck for me to mow tomorrow. And then it is on to cutting and splitting the wood and stacking it in the lean-too.
No Devils playground here!

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
