The NY Times piece is by Charlotta Gall who at times writes realistic reports from the ground in Ukraine.
After the uplifting start of her piece the reporting becomes grim:
As officials celebrated Ukraine’s progress in Staromaiorske, troops elsewhere on the ground said that Russian defenses and firepower remained formidable and in places impassable.
A soldier at a medical post, awaiting evacuation for a concussion, recently described how his battalion had been decimated when it came under Russian artillery and tank fire. His brigade, the 23rd, was one of nine newly formed, Western-trained units prepared and equipped for the counteroffensive. But the brigade, he said, had been thrown into the fight without sufficient artillery support and had been unable to defend themselves against Russian firepower.
In one battle in which his unit took part, Ukrainian soldiers attacked in 10 American-made MaxxPro armored vehicles, but only one came back, he said. He showed photographs of the damaged vehicles, ripped open and burned out, which he said had been hauled back to a repair base. The soldier declined to give his name for fear of getting into trouble with his superiors.

The soldier lost a 22-year-old friend, Stas, in the shelling the day before, he said, adding that in just over a month, his battalion had suffered so many dead and wounded that only 10 men remained at the front line.
Previously that battalion has had some 400 to 500 men.
Next Gall speaks to a soldier from a different unit:
Another soldier, who joined up last year and asked to be identified only by his first name, Oleksiy, said that his unit had taken heavy losses as Russian troops directed artillery fire and aerial bombs onto their positions.
“We were shot like on a shooting range,” he said. “A drone was flying above us and correcting the artillery fire.” Their positions were in former Russian positions, hemmed in by minefields, he said, and the Russian forces were able to keep them pinned down and under constant drone surveillance.
Soldiers were running out of ammunition and water but could only sneak in and out of their positions in ones or twos, on foot, when the light was poor just before dawn and at dusk, he said.
And a third case:
Interviews with Ukrainian soldiers and a review of military surveillance footage from a recent attack indicate that many Ukrainian units are sustaining heavy losses.
A group with special operations training, deployed last month to storm Russian positions in a village on the western part of the front, took such heavy casualties in four days of assaults that they had to pull out without success.
After their armored vehicles were largely destroyed by artillery strikes on the first day, they revised their plan to approach the village on foot through a tree line that had been mined. The Ukrainians cleared a narrow path with demining explosives and the first soldiers reached the Russian positions and dropped down into a trench.
Drone footage of the event showed what happened next. Explosions suddenly detonated inside the trenches and other strikes hit soldiers on the edge of the tree line. The video footage has been verified by The New York Times.
“The trenches were mined,” said the assault commander, who uses the call sign Voskres, short for Resurrection. “Our guys started jumping in the trenches and blowing up,” he added. The Russian forces were watching, and they remotely detonated the mines, he said.
Those who managed to avoid the mines came under attack from multiple Russian kamikaze drones. “It seemed like they had a drone for each person,” he said. “The amount of equipment the Russians have, had we known, it was like mission impossible.”
Several weeks later, the village remains in Russian hands.
Since the Ukrainian ‘counter-offensive’ was launched the Russian Defense Ministry has reported on average 710 Ukrainian casualties per day.

“For two days alone – 26 and 27 July – more than 400 Ukrainian servicemen, 31 tanks, including three German-manufactured Leopard and two French-manufactured tanks, as well as 32 armoured fighting vehicles were destroyed near Rabotino,” Shoigu claimed. “A total of 63 armoured vehicles were destroyed”.
“The command of the AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine) is desperately sending new troops into the assault on Russian positions”, Shoigu asserted, which was thwarted by the “competently constructed defences” of the Russian forces, he claimed. “A large-scale attempt by Ukrainian troops to break through Russian defences was thwarted in Orekhov direction.”
The Russian Ministry of Defence further claimed that 725 Ukrainian soldiers were killed on July 30 and 710 on July 31 in fighting on the South Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Krasny Liman, Kherson and Kupyansk fronts, putting the weekend death toll at 1435.
A video from Russian Ria Novosti TV claimed to show a single Russian tank in the Zaporozhye region stopping a column of 10 Ukrainian vehicles. 7 of the vehicles were destroyed by the Tank firing from the cover of a hedgerow, the rest were eliminated by artillery and Lancet drones, RT claimed. The video has not been independently verified.
According to the Russian state-controlled Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper, the Ukrainian column included at least two tanks and five US-made MRAP M1224 MaxxPro vehicles. The Russian tank crew reportedly forced the Ukrainian group to enter a minefield, where some of their equipment was destroyed.
Russia and Ukraine allegedly reached a peace deal as early as March 2022, which was then torpedoed by the UK and US governments.
I am in tears. I know many Ukrainian people; They are all delightful, hard-working, intelligent, and funny. What a tragedy for Ukraine.

I struggled through a recording of Frank Luntz yesterday on C-Span. Luntz condemned and railed against the implacable and uncompromising positions of both the Dem supporters and Trump supporters today in USA. He somewhat accurately stated that both sides get their news not to inform but to affirm. I would add that Joe Biden does neither as he’s already well infirmed.
Did he describe what NeverTrumpers like him do? Searching for and presenting information designed to undermine Trump supporters?
Normal media do the same, but are happy to undermine all Republicans. Sounds like Luntz will undermine dems and Trump supporters.

Thursday morning BUD releases their quarterly sales/profit report which will include April when they mulvaneyed themselves. They’ll do everything they can to soften the blow, eg, amortize their heavy ad campaign expenses, delay as many expenses as possible onto the following quarters. Comments on stocks are usually in favor of the stock at least as a hold. This one is still 90-10 against as of 7/27. We’ll see what happens Thursday am.

As July comes to a close, we see threats of additional indictments against former President Trump, plus indictments up in Michigan against the Trump electors who cast votes on the date mandated by Congress and the Constitution in 2020, contingent on the results of then-pending election challenges, just as the John Kennedy electors had cast contingent votes in Hawaii in 1960, which were ultimately certified as valid once the litigation that was pending at that time determined that Kennedy had actually won Hawaii.

I generally access the Conservative Treehouse on my tablet which comes here automatically. Today I am at my desktop and wanted to check the Treehouse. I used Chrome AND Duck Duck Go on Firefox to try to find the web address and while the Treehouse showed up, not in any way I could just click and get here. I’m old folks, and though I can use the computer just fine, I am not savvy enough to know how to find stuff that isn’t immediately accessible.
Luckily, I have MicroSoft’s brower on my computer, so I tried that. Zap. The site immediately came up FIRST when I typed in “Conservative Treehouse” and I was able to click on it and get here. I wrote down the http address in case Bing (or is it Echo) goes “woke”, but I think Sundance ought to check out how Chrome AND Duck Duck Go (or is it Firefox that’s doing it) have buried the data so that it’s very hard to access the site. At least for me.

Imagine if Gavin Newsom was currently Vice President amid the final meltdown of the Biden family consortium.
Does anyone doubt that Biden would then either be forced to resign by Democratic politicos (for reasons in addition to his escalating dementia), or would be impeached and perhaps abdicate Nixon-style?
The presence of the now predictable mediocrity of Kamala Harris and the impossibility, given her race and gender, of removing her, for now is about all that keeps a cognitively declining Biden still in office. The Left fears what she could do as president to the Democratic Party; conservatives are terrified of what she could do to the country.
Joe Biden’s bewilderment exempts his embarrassments from accountability in the way that Hunter Biden’s addictions excuse his past serial criminality. But the passes granted to both father and son would be now unsustainable with a viable Vice President in waiting.
Indeed, the Harris problem explains some of current Democratic strategy.
So the Harris dilemma explains a lot: finding a way to keep her out of current power until Biden somehow finishes his first term, and thus letting the Democratic 2024 primary candidates organically abort her presidential aspirations.
There are a few problems, however, with this strategy.
One, can Joe Biden finish his first term?
That would require his staff to shorten his already truncated workday for the next 18 months to about 2-3 hours of work per day.
He would have to be kept away from photo-ops with young (especially female) children, lest he turkey-gobbles the cheek of another victim to a worldwide audience.
He can no longer read off a teleprompter without slurring his words, losing his place, or going off extemporaneously on to topics such as “Vladimir” Zelenskyy, the “Iraq” war in Ukraine, or relief over the curing of cancer.
Biden needs to be removed for either mental disability or impeachment. Harris is ineligible and illegally occupying office. Speaker McCarthy becomes president.
In a sane world. Or if we still abided by the Constitution. If we were still our beloved Republic.

Right now, I’m about to try to get out of Ukraine, and seek political asylum in Hungary. Either I’ll cross the border and make it to safety, or I’ll be disappeared by the Kiev regime. This is what’s happened to me over the past three months.
On May 1, I was arrested for my YouTube videos. The photos of my arrest are pretty funny—morning bed-head made me look like a character out of Dr. Seuss. My crime was making videos critical of the West and their proxy regime in Kiev—and how they are destroying Ukraine.
Attached to these tweets is the full indictment against me, both the original Ukrainian and English translation. As you can see, even the prosecutor admits I committed no crime against property or any person. And I certainly provided no aid or intelligence to the Russians.
My indictment explicitly states that all I did was discuss publicly known facts about the war—the epitome of free speech in a democracy. But Zelensky’s Ukraine is no democracy—it is a thieving, corrupt, murderous gangster regime PRETENDING to be a polite “western” democracy.
Once arrested, I was given documentation assuring me that I was “guaranteed the right” to contact my lawyers and loved ones, as well as post bail. In fact, I was blocked from calling anyone—even my lawyers. And I was not permitted to post bail—though I had the cash to do so.
In other words, the formalities were carried out scrupulously—while judicial and ethical grotesqueries ruled. That’s Zelensky’s Ukraine. That’s what his thuggish regime cares about: The >perception< of democracy and the rule of law, so as to mask the sordid, corrupt reality.
That’s why they relentlessly persecute anyone who tells the truth about this war. I’m not the only so-called “propagandist” the Kiev regime has thrown in prison. It’s also why they shoot any AFU soldier who dares retreat. That’s why the AFU losses are so horrific—but hidden.
As you can see by the indictment, the video I made that really chapped their ass was “Ukraine: A Primer”, which gives the historical background to the conflict—where I state outright that this invasion wasn’t out of the blue. That indeed, it was provoked by the Kiev regime.
Once inside Sizo Prison, I was tortured in two of the four cells I was in—by the other prisoners. Guards NEVER beat prisoners—they outsource torture to the other prisoners. One prisoner actually apologized to me, telling me he had no choice. He wasn’t lying. I understood.
I got a cracked rib in my first cell, but it wasn’t too bad. The worst stretch was in my fourth cell. From 1pm on June 21 until 7pm the next day—30 hours—I was beaten and sleep deprived, my arms twisted the wrong way around at the shoulders, and generally beaten pretty bad.
I’ve taken a beating in my time. So sure, it hurt like hell, but it was manageable—but then at one point, two thugs held my head and used a toothpick to scratch the whites of my left eye, while asking me if I could still read if I had just one. ngl, >that< was unnerving.
Near the end of this session, one of the thugs struck me in the chest so hard and so repetitively that the beating left a yellow-and-green splotch dead-center on my sternum. He was >berated< by the cell boss, because he’d left a mark on me—which was a no-no. >Perceptions<
Then as luck would have it, two days later—when the bruising was in full bloom—a senior guard came to give me a wellness check! This was likely because of the Chilean embassy efforts. The US embassy called me three times, but gave me nothing but “support”—empty bromides.
The guard told me to remove my shirt so he could look me over. The bruising was really spectacular—but he just nodded and pretended he didn’t see a thing. >Perceptions< He’d checked me, right? Why was I beaten to the point of torture? Well—it wasn’t over my YouTube videos!
I was imprisoned because of my videos—no doubt. The videos are why the SBU arrested me and put me in Sizo Prison without bail. But as they investigated me—and examined my computers and accounts, all of which they confiscated and opened—the SBU realized that I’m not poor.
So once they had me imprisoned for my videos, the SBU took the opportunity to extort money from me—using the guards as accomplices, who in turn used the prisoners as the muscle. How I discovered this is too complicated for a Twitter thread. But I’m writing a book about it.
All told, they extorted USD$70,000 out of me, and split it among themselves. They also took another $9k when they arrested me (my emergency cash). And another 11 grand, which was the bail money. With the computers, iPhone, etc., I’m out an even 100k on this adventure.
I’m never seeing any of that back, not even the bail money—because I’ve decided to leave Ukraine before my trial. My trial is on Wednesday August 2—and I’ve already been told: I WILL be found guilty. My sentence will be five to eight years in a prison labor camp. Yeah.
But here’s the thing: The conditions of my bail are that I have to wear an electronic monitor, surrender my passports, and not leave the city of Kharkov, much less the country. HOWEVER—after posting bail, I >didn’t< get an ankle monitor—and they >returned< my passports.
Later at the SBU offices, they >returned other documents< they’d confiscated—my driver’s license and my motorcycle registration. In Sizo, I told an inmate how last year I’d been detained, released, but told not to leave Ukraine. He laughed. “They were telling you to leave!”
This time, it looks like the same is happening: They’re telling me not to leave—but leaving the door open. Or so I hope. Or maybe I’m being set up by them so they can justify putting me away in a labor camp—so no one will ever know about their sordid extortion scheme.
I simply don’t know. So I decided to die trying. I rode my motorcycle across Ukraine—1,400 kms in two days. I’m going to Hungary to ask for political asylum. When I fail to show up in court in Kharkov, an arrest warrant will be issued, likely an international warrant.
No doubt other EU countries will comply like sheep, returning me to serve five to eight years in a prison labor camp— —regardless of the fact that Kiev arrested and imprisoned me for >YouTube videos!< For free speech! What happened to “European democratic values? lol
And the US State Department would return me too. I’m not a black lesbian druggie, or a transgender grifter. Besides, Victoria Nuland hates my guts, or so I’m told. I’m hoping the Hungarians will read my indictment and say, “This is bullshit—we’re not sending him back.”
I’m posting this thread just as I’m getting to the border checkpoint. I’m also posting videos on the two channels I have access to, The Roundtable and Gonzalo Lira—Again. If you don’t hear from me in the next 12 hours—whelp! I’m on my way to a labor camp! Wish me luck.

We’ve all heard the infamous World Economic Forum phrase “You’ll own nothing, and you’ll be happy.” But how do global elites and central bankers intend to roll out this diabolical scheme? Well, the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) mapped it out in their recently published report on a proposed “unified ledger” called, “Blueprint for the future monetary system: improving the old, enabling the new.”

Control of All Assets
In simple terms, the BIS’ blueprint proposes that all private property in the real world, such as money, houses, cars, etc., would be “tokenised” into digital assets within an “everything in one place” global unified ledger.
CBDCs would be “core to the functioning” of this tokenised world and serve as the reserve currency on the unified ledger. Transactions between CBDCs and tokenised assets, which represent real-world assets, would operate seamlessly through smart contracts on one programmable platform.
Each token representing a real-world asset in this digital space would contain a large amount of data received from the real world in real time about what it is, who it belongs to, etc., as well as rules on how that particular asset can and cannot be used. The BIS explains how these rules are set up by “directly embedding supervisory features into the token itself, which can be tailored to specific rules.”
The main takeaway of this BIS blueprint is that whatever happens in their dystopian digital world, has legally binding impacts on assets in the real world. So, maybe the WEF’s catch phrase should be “You may own digital tokens, but we will control the real assets.”
