I had to inspect beanz this morning. Up at the unGodly hour of 3:30 AM. Finally got back to sleep after a shower and not 30 minutes past when…. * CRASH *… Harry Houdini decided to knock a dish from the drying pad on the counter and it shattered in a thousand pieces. Scared us all awake and hunting cats to make sure no paws were injured.
I have LOTS of shattering dishware today.
I had found a couple years ago – a Noritake Fine China set named “Savannah 2031”. It is such a sweet set. Showed Savannah the set and she loved it, but thought nothing further. Then, a few days ago… I went on EBAY and a decent sized set was selling for *GASP* almost $1,100.00 and it didn’t have near all the pieces.
My family heritage is that when our women wed, they receive their own set of beautiful china. Sadly I never received this tradition as my parents had passed on.
Sooo… as I sat gob-smacked at the $1,100.00 price tag – I started collecting on my Watch List the various pieces from various dealers. With several orders – I pieced together a gorgeous 12-place service with all the incidentals – for roughly $650. I had to purchase a couple small pieces from Noritake Poetry which is hopefully a complimentary pattern for the coffee and tea carafes, etc. A few incidental dessert plates, etc.
Received the first set today – 5 PIECES were broken – it’s over $200 to replace them individually – so sure hoping the shipper sent them via USPS insured. The seller packed them beautifully and even had a very carefully marked box – THIS END UP – FRAGILE – FRAGILE – the carrier turned it sideways – apparently they don’t read anymore. Alas, our postal carrier is also one who cuts cards open and steals the contents at Christmas time. Never a word back from the complaints department at the IG’s office for the Post Office. I know it’s not managed supposedly federally anymore – but it seems to be just another NGO hell bent on making our lives frustrated.
So WHY WOULD I DO SOMETHING SO CRAZY AS TO MY PURCHASE MY SAVANNAH a dish set for her future marriage now????
Good question.
Because we are LIVING OUR BEST LIVES and we are SPEAKING INTO EXISTENCE HER FUTURE with a beautiful family, in a good marriage, all seated at the table together during birthdays, holidays, special celebrations… and when I eventually go to Heaven… she will have a piece of me at her dinner table and she will be reminded how much I adore my girl and how hopeful I was in the beginning, am now, and forever will be… in her bright and blooming future.
Incidentally, it’s a vintage set called “Savannah 2031” in 2031 – she’ll be 25 years old. Wouldn’t it be a kick if she got married in 2031??? Maybe a promise from God in there somewhere??? Promise to bless her, not harm her. To give her peace and a bright future? That’s the blessings I’m whispering over her.
These are her Christmas and Wedding gifts (she’s too young to be betrothed – so part of her dowry, I suppose) – we are by no means loaded to spend lavishly and frivolously. We do things incrementally – so that we can be blessed in big ways in small manageable increments.
Now typing hurts my cut up fingers. It was a bloody endeavor unpacking that big box. She loves them.

Hello American friends, The following is the best video I have found about Krav Maga (the israeli Self defense System). Krav Maga is used by many American SWAT teams, FBI, and many Intelligence agencies across the Globe. The first Instructor Itai Gil sounds a bit arrogant but he is an Officer in the number one counter terror Unit in Israel so I can take him seriously. The last Instructor Denis Hannover is a decorated man who trained some of the highest level of Israel’s Defense forces and Intelligence. In the US some of the Krav Maga trainers are not fully qualified and are saying that they know this art from the Army. But in Israel everyone in the army learns some Karav Maga, mostly low level unless it’s a special unit. Enjoy:

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles.
