Morning, Garrison. I’m watching a junk food Chinese movie with AI created subtitles Apparently Chinese isn’t replete with gender terminology, so the translations seem to be grabbing random gender terms out of midair. Really funny. What are you up to?
Don’t know about Chinese, but Japanese do the same because nouns have their own gender so pronouns follow the gender of the noun.
It is almost as annoying as cycling through Rs and Ls in names. Lila, Lira, Rila, Rira. Using a different version every time the name is used. Which is how the machine translators deal with this L vs R ambiguity.
I’ve read several human translators complaining about how some authors hide character gender intentionally for several chapters by mixing up the genders of the nouns used to describe the character.

In the Chinese YT junk food dramas, the automatic translators even translate the names. So you’ll never see the Chinese name, as you would in a person’s translation, you’ll see something like “Ancient Qing Dynasty” and “Blue Moon”. Took me a while to figure out what was going on.

My grandfather had the huge tool chest of his father, a carpenter, when I was a child. One of the joys of my life was attempting to help. Hope there’s some little ones around you who can watch what you’re doing with absolute awe in their eyes.
Mary, my dad was a carpenter and mechanic on the side. My grandfather became a “collector”. We had every tool imaginable stuffed in our dilapidated 1 car garage. I learned how to swing a hammer, saw on a 2×4, screw things together and such when I was very little. When I grew up I had my own pink tool box with all the basics. I and family were in Germany, my husband was often away on field training exercises so that tool box became a necessity.
These lessons were passed to my children. My son was 3 when he got a real but miniature tool box from his Mississippi Papaw. The saw and hammer were hidden but the screw drivers he used like a pro. That kid took apart a Volkswagen carburetor and reassembled it with no left over pieces at 3 years old. Later, his sisters were also taught how to use basic tools. They have passed down the tradition to their kids.
One simply cannot pay for an education like that.
That is a “for sure”. I’m happy to say my youngest grandson is working in construction. It’s in the blood from me and his grandpa.

What a GREAT cat family.
Cat lives with an engineer. Blinds were bent. Snip, snip, orderly.
That’s one way to save the blinds.
We use plantation blinds and usually they are up part way. But when they are closed and she wants to look out of that particular window the faux wood slats are too stiff for her to damage.
My cat can open the bottom”wooden” slat — but only in one window. I haven’t deciphered the language of cat, yet.
Reminded me instantly of my daughter’s house. The people who had it before her needed a doggie door but the back door has paned windows.
What to do…
They had one put in the corner of their front room wall. Unorthodox I’ll admit. But as needs must…

When we built our house we made sure that we had a dog door and a car door in the wall. At the time we had big dogs but now with smaller dogs sometimes the cats get pissed off when their door gets used by the dogs. 😂😂😂

My daughter followed my mother-in-law’s Yorkie out the doggie door. She crawled right out after him onto the patio. I got hysterical because my 9 month old baby apparently vanished into thin air. It took several panicky minutes to find her. We were so enchanted about our baby genius that we staged a second escape and took photographs of the event.
I can imagine the panic. I’d be asking myself, did I miss the rapture?

I have loved every cat we’ve ever had. But I am a dog person. Never have I read of a cat doing something like this but I have read of similar situations with dogs doing it several times.
I’ve read stories of cats rescuing their family from a house fire, by waking the people.
How does a dog make these abstract connections?

Strangers Show Up for Ohio Brothers’ Birthday Party After Guests No-Show
Two Ohio brothers were excited to celebrate their 4th and 6th birthdays with water balloons and cake at Diehl Park, until no one on their guest list showed up.
For father Ronny Meyer it was absolutely devastating to see his sons Niklaus and Kol disappointed, WECT reported.
“It definitely hurt,” Meyer said. “Not so much on us, but it was more seeing how depressed and how much it hurt the boys.”
But all of that turned around once Meyer’s wife Lacey took to the Defiance community group on Facebook, inviting families out for some hot dogs, cake to celebrate her two sons.
The pavilion was soon filled with dozens of parents with their children and even the Defiance Fire Department showed up.
“I was just blown away by it,” Meyer said. “The moment they saw the fire truck, they were beyond excited. There was someone that came out with a Spider-Man costume on, and Kol loves Spider-Man. It just made his day.”

I’ve read too many stories about children where no on showed up for their birthday parties. It is hard to think of anything more cruel and makes me cry even single time.

How very CRUEL !! Someone docked this poor puppy’s tail !! It is right up to his butt. My Pug has a beautiful tail that curls up over her back. I have seen soooo many butchered tails in my grooming shop. It brings tears to my eyes for these poor dogs.
My granddaughter works at South Lake Tahoe. She lives on the other side of the mountain in Nevada.

We were made to be happy and blessed, and for there to be none that lacked. We were made to love one another, like our Father in heaven. The earth is by far big enough, and resources plenty enough, for everyone to have his own place, and everything he needs to live comfortably. When the disciples received the Holy Spirit baptism in the beginning; the effect was that they really loved one another, in the most practical ways. All that they had heard Jesus teaching; which had convicted them, and made them wonder and pray, How can the world ever really be like that? now, with the Holy Spirit presiding in their hearts and minds; it was natural; and so was the universal victory and joy in life.
But whenever Jesus’ words are not taken to heart and obeyed; whenever people refuse to meet God’s stated requirements for receiving His Spirit; there will also remain all the selfishness and sin; and there will also be greater and greater distance between the have’s and the have not’s. There was no need in the early days, for charitable organizations; who could take care of the poor and needy, as it were, anonymously: for they were ALL of one heart and one soul, and NO ONE thought about anything that he owned, as his possession; but understood it as part of the community’s wealth and sustenance.
Interestingly also, alongside the love and care for one another, the disdain for covetousness and selfishness; so were the apostles, and all which the Lord called into His service, filled with power in ministry; and the sick were healed, and people were delivered from demons, and amazing miracles flowed from the Lord through their hands to the people. That is exactly why there is essentially no power flowing today; because of covetousness, and continuing sin and worldliness, and not believing and obeying to the point where God would give the Holy Spirit. So, to try to cover up their lack and disobedience, they invent another interpretation, and another Jesus, and another gospel; that rather confirms their taking a portion in life, and not having to do anything Jesus commands.
The passage taken from the Preacher, as also the parable which the Lord spoke, is a crystal clear picture of the world we live in today. Untold multitudes are just like the rich man; who have always believed, that if they don’t care about God and Jesus and religion, then it really has nothing to do with them. They are the ones who were invited to the king’s wedding for his son, but made light of it and went their ways. Well, eventually they had to give up their farm and merchandise; and what then do they have?
Meanwhile, those great farms could have served the whole community, like in the days of Ruth and Boaz; and the plenty and abundance of what the rich merchants held onto, could have provided necessary comforts for whole neighborhoods and towns. Everyone would have work to do; and everyone would be able to build his house, as an equal among his people. Is it really a wonder; that one of the marks of the great whore, that generation of God’s wrath, when the transgressors are come to the full; is it any wonder at all, that it says, “Thy merchants were the great ones of the earth?” Revelation 18:23[b]
When we get to heaven, we will all be together, and all have one heart and one soul, and have all things common. The church in its pure beginning had this. We should have this too. Whether it be in small house groups, or small communities wherever true believers fellowship; the Holy Spirit is the same today in us, as He was two thousand years ago; and the practical effects of His presiding over our hearts and minds, will be the same.
2 Peter 1:5-12 “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. As a child, living across from NASA, on Galveston Bay, where dad worked, his travel was to Huntsville & Vandenberg, and of course back to the Cape often.
Early 60’s, NASA paid little, dad got into Air Force reserves for the bit of pay/perks it granted. Thankful of that life choice. Our family had the best summer vacations with his active duty. Stayed at Ft. Walton Beach, FL, outside Eglin AFB, where we played at the beach each day.
Their officers club was a gorgeous solid white Art Deco building on the white sands of the beach, close to the water’s edge. Miles and miles of pure Nature. Lunch was from the snack bar, mom would pack us up late afternoon, go to the hotel, wash/dress, go pick up dad, go back to the officers club for dinner. Always fresh seafood.

Winds blowing from a single direction over the earth are called prevailing winds. Where they meet up are called convergence zones. If you have been outside in strong winds, then you know they are a powerful force. In the life of every child of God, as well as in His Church, there are seasons of testing – times when you must stand against the prevailing winds of a godless culture and hostile world system.
In both the Old and New Testaments, the words translated “test” usually means “to prove by trial.“ As God leads His people along the path of eternal life, the deceiver, Satan, “prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). And there is a convergence! When the Holy Spirit comes against the destructive will of evil, only one force will prevail.
Very few like the idea that God permits difficulty to come into the lives of His children or His Church, but it is a reality. “The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and the LORD tests hearts” (Proverbs 17:3).
Yes, God allows tests, not so He can know your strength (He already knows!) but so you may see His.
The resurrection power of Jesus Christ is stronger than any scheme from hell. Your faith grounded in His power means you may stand regardless of the winds that blow.
Pray for God’s people in America to rely on Him and remain faithful in times of testing. Ask that believers will stand firm in faith, confident in the power of the risen Christ, and be a light to those who don’t know Him.

Something had happened in the News, that was a real threat to our country; and the governments response made me immediately see this picture in my head. Over on the ridge behind, was Santa Ana and his troops, shouting and shooting; and inside the fort, the soldiers had the civilians cowering in fear against the wall, with their rifles pointed at them!

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

At this time in 1944 Gen Omar Bradly was having the VII and VIII Corp make initial assaults to reach the lines of departure needed for the great offensive to come, code named COBRA.
To this time since the landings on June 6th the US forces on the Cotentin peninsula had been fighting to take the port at Cherbourg and to expand the beach head deep enough to make room for the massive follow up forces to maneuver.
The fighting in the hedgerows of the Bocage had been costly. The Germans had defended skillfully and tenaciously while exacting a heavy toll on the green American Divisions as they learned their trade the hard way. To make matters worse Normandy had the wettest July of in 50 years, making low lands and unpaved road a morass with the weather denying close air support and aerial artillery observation more often than not. For a time moral and effectiveness in those green divisions declined.
But now several of those once green American Divisions were blooded. Their losses replaced, the deadwood in leadership positions weeded out, and under the wings of the remaining that were now veterans the replacement troops were learning their lessons well and without undue casualties.
All in all, the attitude and posture of the 1st Army was now confident and offensive in nature. They were ready. And so was Bradly. He sensed that the German defenses in his front were stretched to the limit and had developed a plan to hopefully break out of the Bocage into terrain much more suitable for the armor and mobile forces he had.
Patton was there, but his presence a secret and his 3rd Army was not to be activated until a break through was made. But Bradley had put him in a position to guide the movements of the right wing of the coming offensive that would include the VIII Corp which was slated to become a part of his 3rd Army once activated. Troy Middleton was in command of the VIII Corp but the Crop’s movements would have Patton’s characteristic stamp upon them in the coming action. The VIII Corp had four infantry Divisions and two Armored Divisions.
Left of the VIII Corp was “Lightning Joe Collins” and his VII Corp that would play the central role in the coming combat. The VII Corp also had 4 Infantry Divisions and 2 Armored Divisions. The veteran 1st Infantry Division was in the VII Corp and had been converted to a mobile infantry division having its own organic motorized transport.
The VIII and VII Corp would have all of the Armored Divisions that would attempt the breakthrough. Each of those corp were large enough that they were actually Armies and only Corp in name and command structure!
Next to the left was the XIX Corp. The XIX Corp commanded by Charles Corlett had three Infantry Divisions and its job was basically to secure the left flank of the VII Corp.
Still further to the left was the was the V Corp with its left flank adjoining the British/Canadian.. The V Corp had no official role in the Cobra plan and was assigned a holding role to prevent the Germans from shifting units from its front to oppose the advances of the XIX and VII Corp. As things developed it did more than that but that is for a later post.
