Love the picture, Sweet Patience. The Praying Mantis is actually a preying mantis, one of the most patient and brutal killers of the insect world, which is why I admire them.
When I was in 3rd grade I discovered a mantis egg sack and mistaking it for a cocoon, took it to school for Show and Tell. The teacher was enamored, and asked if we could keep it in the classroom as a science observation. Of course, says I.
Two weeks later the school was shut down for 2 days. There were hundreds, maybe thousands of tiny Praying Mantis scattered around the school; the little devils had entered the HVAC system and were everywhere, yes, even the Principal’s Office, where I might have sighted the last of them. Such cute little killers.

Did you see the picture posted here of a cat raising its paw? You had to really look to see what the cat was drawing a bead on. It was a praying mantis on its hind legs with its front arms extended in a boxing pose. This little insect was challenging the cat.

It is still illegal in most states to leave animals unattended in a car.
There was an incident where a mom thought she left the air on. Her little children were asleep. She left the air conditioning running while she went into a store. Something malfunctioned and hot air was blowing in. Both her babies +under three) died.
I live in the desert. I know every little yapper is not a service dog. However, I’d rather see them in a store rather than out in the car.

If I had been raised in France I think my goal would have been to be one of their guardians. A life of riding horses, guarding horses, and being outside away from most civilization at the same time. Perfection.
You’d probably run into my sister in law (Wales) Horses are her life. Though age has dictated that she can no longer have them….a real sorrow for her…she has a dear friend who is quite wealthy who lives nearby and has many, so she still sees them. Still has her stables and carriages though…

Most people think that the skull and crossbones lapel insignia was only worn by the Waffen SS. That is not correct. Panzer troops that were not SS also had the skull and cross bones on their lapels.

Looks like an early model Tiger I tank.
Notice the tracks are all steel. During WW II only the US put hard rubber pads on their tank tracks. All steel tracks wear out much more quickly when run over hard surfaced roads. The rubber pads used on the US M-4 Sherman made it so their tracks lasted about twice as long in such conditions.
The idea that the Tiger tanks were the best tanks of WW II is a fallacy. All of the Tiger variants suffered from a troublesome transmission. They were relatively slow and required very heavy bridging to handle their 60+ ton weight. Recovery of damaged tanks from the field that could not be repaired where they sat was almost nonexistent because the recovery vehicles that could handle their weight were in very short supply.
No doubt there was plenty of reason to fear those behemoths with their heavy armor and 88 mm gun. Shermans were at a distinct disadvantage when they had to engage Tigers at a distance. But when the fighting got close up the Shermans had the advantage because of speed, maneuverability, and numbers.
IMO probably the best German tank of WW II was the Mk V, Panther and not the Mk VI Tiger.
The 2014 movie “Fury” was unique in that the story was presented from the tank crew and commander’s POV.
In one scene, they had a gruesome battle where a single German Tiger I destroys an entire platoon of Sherman tanks except the one named “Fury” by its commander (played by Brad Pitt). But with effective maneuvering, the lone Sherman got around behind the Tiger and hit it’s one weak spot…
Even a bazooka could immobilize at Tiger by hitting the tracks idler wheels, or sprockets. To kill it took a shot at the rear for the 75 mm short barrel or 76 mm long barrel of a Sherman. And as for the frontal armor of the Tiger, during COBRA, in July of 1944 there was a case where an M-10 tank Destroyer mounting a long barreled 3″ (76.2 mm) gun took 5 shots to take out a Tiger from the front. The 3″ gun was also found to have difficulty penetrating the frontal armor of Panther tanks.
This prompted Eisenhower to ask to hurry the delivery of the M-37 tank destroyer armed with a 90 mm gun. But while the 90 mm gun could take out a Panther at a distance, they still struggled against the frontal armor of the Tigers.
As the war progressed new ammunition for the 3″ gun an the 90 mm made them deadlier but penetrating the frontal armor of the Tiger remained a difficult task almost always requiring multiple shots for the rest of the war.
Was the 76.2mm M10 main gun the British 17 pounder (76.2mm) main gun used in the “Firefly” Sherman conversions? 17 pounders are said to be able to penetrate the frontal armor of both Panthers and Tigers, including the more formidable Tiger II.
The 17 pounder was a British Gun they retrofitted into the Sherman. Though of the same diameter as the 3″, it fired a higher velocity round than the US 3″.
For those not used to the nomenclature, 17 pound is the weight of the shell it fired.
The 17 pounder was strictly designed 0nly for direct fire of AP (armor piercing) rounds and not effective at firing HE (High Explosive) rounds as used against infantry concentrations and other “soft targets” while the US guns mentioned were all designed to shoot both AP and HE rounds. In fact, when there were no tanks around to shoot at, US Tank Destroyers were frequently massed to provide fire support for the infantry as mobile artillery.
The 90 mm gun mounted in the M-26 Pershing heavy tank a few of which saw action in Europe in the last months of the war could penetrate the front armor of the Tigers.

But I do know that suddenly…very suddenly relatively speaking…we can see it all in every iteration. And we can see who by their attacks, or their complicity (think of the Mengeleian medical establishment), or silences in refusing to go after the devil’s earthly acolytes, are the predators.
There are thousands upon thousands upon thousands such monsters in all professions and walks of life.
Lord, show us the way in our own lives to make a difference for even one of your smallest.

I worked both systems — child protective and later probation. Abused children absolutely “graduate” into the criminal justice system.

You have all my honor and respect for working at Juvenile Hall, and Corrections for youth. I was one of such lost boys; and you don’t know what good you do, even though you might not see it presently.

Will definitely visit the Outback in Avon when back, owner used to be the host at the Outback on 38th & Crawfordsvill Rd., used to be Sat night regulars.
After 10+ years, he must have looked at the reservations and saw a familiar name he always butchered pronouncing (buddy’s British name), came out to our table to talk … priceless.
I also think all 4 of my Niece’s & Nephew’s have moved to Indy, I owe a dinner out to one as his wedding was interrupted by COVID the first week of it, will see if they wish to go to Fogo de Chao in downtown Indy.
Figured I would post a time/date here for those interested to meet, might even find out where karaoke places are at, never know when you will find a incredible singer, we have a large contingent around here, local band members singing something other than from a set list that is old and rigid.
Tourists can surprise too, some might actually be known … just not to me.

IMO they are legitimate weapons of war and it is pure folly to try and outlaw such weapons. Nothing but virtue signaling that would quickly go by the wayside if any signatory had their own asses on the line and were staring down a gun barrel. So the use of “outlawed” is just BS. Besides that the US, Russia, and Ukraine were not signatories to that treaty.
During the last Gulf war cluster munitions were vital in decreasing US casualties.
One use of the weapons most will not know about was by “wild weasels”. Wild Weasels are fighter bomber aircraft specifically tasked with “suppressing” enemy antiaircraft sites so that other aircraft are able to accomplish their missions. “Suppressing” can me just making the site stop firing or can mean destroying it. Cluster bombs were very effective at destroying those sites. Much more effective than the HARM (High speed Anti-radiation Missile). HARMs target the radar beam of the antiaircraft site which tend only to make the radar shut down long enough for the missile to loose lock and miss.
Cluster munitions can be fired from tubed artillery or from rocket or missile launchers. In those uses they are very effective in taking out troop and vehicle concentrations.
The bomblets, just like any explosive ordinance, can fail to go off as intended leaving a dangerous dud. But the fact is that all major combatants keep stocks of antipersonnel and antivehicle mines that can be broadcast over wide areas from the air or by artillery and both sides have already used those in this war.
Gotta be careful there Rah.

In today’s verse, Paul urges confidence in the work God is doing. While you experience the highs and lows that correspond with the perceived wins and losses in your life, the Lord is still at work on your training, and He will not stop. He has accepted you as you are, but He is loving and gracious enough not to let you stay that way! God transforms you to be more Christ-like so that, in the process, He may be glorified.
God will give you the strength to persevere. Be patient with yourself during the training, especially when you do not see where God is taking you. Have confidence that He continues to work in you because He loves you. Pray for the men and women in the nation’s military, who are often called upon to have athletic ability, and who are in continual training. Pray that God would make Himself known to them in personal ways that transform their lives.

These are “baby limas”, the small white ones. I only raise a few to use in succuatash and Brunswick stews. They’re easy to raise even in a dry year like this one but a Lotta work to shell. We usually dry or can for use later.
Not to be confused with those huge brown “butter beans” which some refer to as limas also. I’m not sure which is technically the correct nomenclature.

Butter beans are not the same as the Fordhook Limas as I’ve always known them. A completely different taste. I’m partial to the Fordhooks, and cannot find those except for an unexplainably extortionate price.

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.

I saw a beebee bunny at my office today – no bigger than a dollar bill. Thought mightily about just sittin the grass and playing with him and his buddies.
Oh my!!! Saw a video of a young man on his knees coaxing a whole bunch of beebee bunnies out from under his house.
One by one the tentatively hopped out to come to him, until there were about 10. They were ADORABLE!!!😍

It is CURSDAY—thought I would tell you about my “Personal CTH” Every day M-F at 11am Jack and I leave for the dog park. For the last 4+ years I’ve met with my PCTH. Cold, hot, rain, snow; it doesn’t matter. 4-8 folks, men and women. 6-8-10 dogs depending. Dogs are 2-12 in age, all different breeds. They are truly a pack. They really watch out for each other. A new dog comes over—“who are you and what’s your business—don’t be messin’ around here” We all got each other through the Covid nonsense – no masks, distancing lasted about a week. I’ve gotten to know more about these people than some friends I’ve known all my life. We’re a study in over 70 issues. I guess we’re a pack too. Amazing where dogs can take you!
